Looking slightly alarmed at all of the interest, Clenchjaw waves his hands at you.
”I don't know, maybe a week or so? Probably after the new Lord Mayor arrived. As for the performers, they didn't go anywhere, they just told me they weren't going to keep performing here on account of all the fighting thats been going on.”
“Unfortunately, my patrons have been a little rowdier than normal. Probably just blowing off steam about whats been going on. You know, I used to ban talk of politics here, but its no use trying these days, its all anyone wants to talk about!”
Leila, you're unable to determine if anything is wrong with him.
”Like I said, I'm probably just coming down with a cold. Nothing to it. Now if its not too much trouble, I've got a bar to run.” Giving you a slightly irritable look, he turns and busies himself wiping down the bar elsewhere.

Giggling slightly at Lily, she steps out from behind the bar. "I suppose he doesn't need me there after all. Up in the rafters you see a curious creature—a tiny blueish lizard with brilliant orange and red butterfly wings. It looks alarmed when it realizes you see it, but not so alarmed that it doesn't finish the spell its casting.
The spell complete, you notice Clenchjaw's eyelids flutter, then the big man collapses in a heap behind the bar. Two of the patrons sitting on either side of Huck also fall asleep, their heads resting on the bar.

In the stir, it quietly casts a spell. Suddenly, from outside the door you hear human voices shouting
”Theres a noble out here just handing out gold coins!”
On hearing that, several of the patrons share glances before rushing out the door, some tripping others on the way.
The creature looks at the mostly empty bar, and smiles.
”I am Vendalfek! And you ruined my prank!” He says, looking a bit cross before laughing.
”You're tough! My sleep spell usually puts these dumb-dumbs out to sleepy-byes. I still got the big man and these two,” he says, stepping over one of the unconscious man's hands and lapping ale from his glass.
”Anyway, thanks for not fighting! Most humans don't have good senses of humor.”
| Leila Tanriel |
"Ohhh, Vendalfek. That's a wonderful name. Can I keep you? Plants don't sleep silly, but I like to use sleep on them too. It's a nice way to get them to leave you be sometimes. Oh, you should take some flower petals. You can rub the petals on their skin and make designs. It's quite funny."
Leila reaches out and pats the small creature on it's head. "I used to get in trouble a lot back home. The others mostly got annoyed when I would try to play with them. No one got hurt... they just didn't like when I made them look silly."
Leaning in close to Vendalfek and whispering."Oh, and if you ever get the chance, try this spell." and she explain how to cast the Itching Curse.

It requires a diplomacy check to convince him to stay with you, but I'll call Huck's roll the check, and its a success.
After some deliberation, Vendalfek agrees to move into the Wasp's Nest, and to try to cause less destruction around him. He will join the Silver Ravens as an ally; he allows the Rebellion to perform the Spread Disinformation action. If you already have access to this action, he instead provides a +4 bonus to Spread Disinformation checks.
Vendalfek won't go out in the field generally, but circumstances might lead to him choosing to do so in the future. PCs that take Improved Familiar can take him as a familiar, and anyone gaining access to a Cohort can choose Vendalfek (who gains levels as a Fey blooded Sorcerer). PCs with choose Vendalfek as a Familiar or cohort can bring him with them at any time.

Your return to the Wasp's nest is uneventful.
Once inside, the Fushi sisters present their report
”The building looks pretty sturdy, but it wasn't intended to be a prison, so there's a variety of options available to you.
There are two buildings, the larger is the former salt works and current prison—or perhaps work camp would be a better term, since it seems that the prisoners stationed there are being forced to continue the work of operating the furnaces to dry the salt.
“It appears that there are at least 8 mercenaries at the Salt Works—they stay in the other building, which acts as their barracks. They don't leave often—we saw food and supplies delivered today, although we can't say how often that occurs. We only saw one of them leave, and he just went out for a bit, returning with a keg of ale and a basket of meat pies.
“The leader of the mercenaries is a dwarf, named Kossrani. Mean, but keeps a disciplined team as far as we could tell. He's better outfitted than the others—mail, a heavy shield, and quality weapons. The others are more lightly armored, and my estimate is that they are somewhat green.
“Kossrani and four of the guards patrol around the main building, pretty randomly. They spend a fair amount of time playing cards. At 7:00, we saw the changing of the watch—four more came from the barracks, the other four went to the barracks. These other four immediately sat down to play cards in the office—I don't think they are too keen on patrols, but can't confirm with just a single days observation.
“Hard to tell how many prisoners are present. I would guess at least 8, but--”
Korva Fushi is cut off, as there is a loud crashing sound from the living quarters area.
Rushing to discover the source of the noise, you see a portion of masonry has collapsed onto one of the beds here. The wailing sounds of your Street Performers indicate that, underneath the rubble, lies one of their own. Based on the quantity of rock on the bed, and the stillness, it appears the performer is dead.
Your street performers team is now disabled, and won't be able to perform actions until restored to full—which will require an expenditure of gold equal to the rebellions current minimum treasury value. This is done at the beginning of a Rebellion Phase.

Realizing that someone had been inside their secret hideout and sabotaged it was not sitting well with Declan. I will have to be very careful not to let my guise slip and should limit the time I spend here.
His next thought he decided to share with the group in a hushed whisper, "It is interesting that whoever our saboteur is, they opted for this relatively minor booby trap attack. Why not run to the Dottari? The saboteur must either not want the attention that would bring, or perhaps not even be aware of that as an option. If this chisel were meant for smaller hands I would suspect another mischevious fey creature like the tooth faeries who simply didn't like us in their lair or something, or dare I say it, perhaps even our gracious host who'd developed second thoughts about harboring fugitives. But these tools seem to be meant for human-sized hands. Laria said she used to use this dock for smuggling. Perhaps someone else used it for similar 'less than legal' purposes and would like us out of the way so they can resume their business? Curious."
