Crowe is indeed an adventurer. Originally from Andoran, he's been operating out of Kintargo for at least 10 years. Known to hire out as guards for caravans travelling through the Menador Gap, acting as marines aboard merchant ships, and even acting as private contractors to the city during Jillia Bainilus' tenure as Lord Mayor.

Hours later, the silver raven Huck sent to the Anarchists returns, bearing a note.

It was good to hear that you took part in that little discussion earlier. I think we made our point quite forcefully—some of our noble intellectual rivals will be forever changed by the persuasiveness of our analysis.

It is heartening to see such direct action from you—while many would settle for a quiet discontent, you've shown yourselves to be aggressive in defense of the ideals you hold to. This is a praxis much as our own, and you have proven yourself to be an ally the likes we've not seen before.

I do not know your politics, your goals, or your intentions after The Great Debate that is coming, but the fact that your reasoning has thus far been more muscular than we've any hope the civilized actors of our city could provide proves that there must be some merit to your cause.

You also gain 2d6 supporters for freeing the mercenaries and for stopping the excruciation at Aria Park.

Supporters: 2d6 ⇒ (4, 4) = 8

Step One – Supporter Attrition. Attempt a DC 10 Loyalty check. On a success you lose 1d6 supporters; on a failure you lose 2d4+5.

Step Two – Noteriety Maximum. Skip

Step Three – Treasury Minimum. Skip.

Step Four – Increase rank. Skip. You are currently at the maximum rank the rebellion can have.

Activity Phase

You have three actions a turn. You used one action to have the Fushi sisters scout the Sallix Salt Works, so have two actions permitted.

You have the option to recruit Forvian Crowe's mercenaries as a Team of Freedom Fighters. This is at no cost; you will have to use the Recruit Team action, but will automatically pass the Loyalty check.

Event Phase

After the Activity phase is complete I'll roll for an event. We have not had an event yet, but the rate is creeping up as your noteriety gets higher.

I need to find out as much as I can about this damn Church and its people if I'm going to take it down. Maybe I might even learn how much they now about me.

downtime for Pharast 14th (the morning after my conversation with Padraig):

Declan was in a particularly feisty mood that morning when he came down for breakfast. He pointedly chewed his food loudly and repeatedly cleared his throat until finally his father looked up from his morning paper at which point he launched into a rant, seemingly already mid-conversation, "So I finally decide to do something myself about this rebellion nonsense, and Padraig tells me that you've forbidden it! Forbidden? What am I twelve? You have no complaints about Padraig and Collin wading into melee with the unwashed, yet I am not permitted to work on public relations? You know there is no one who could better sway the masses than I! You know I can take care of myself, especially with this lout," he said with a gesture at Jeeves standing behind him, "looking after my person. So why hold me back?"

After a moment's hesitation, he added one last barb, "Mother would never stand for this."

NOX
  • Nox apparently followed Barzilai Thrune here from Egorian; rumor has it she's been his enforcer and lackey for some time.
  • There are whispers that she's sold her soul to some sort of devil in exchange for dark powers; they say she can regenerate damage, see in pitch darkness, and has access to foul magic.

THE CHURCH OF ASMODEUS
  • The leader of the church in Kintargo is Corinstian Grivenner. It's difficult to learn more about the inner workings of the church, but you do hear tell of a bizarre acolyte of Asmodeus called The Gardener, some sort of arcane caster. There are also a number of devils that serve Asmodeus' will in the city, including powerful devils like Osyluths and Gelugons.

Geoff Tanessen looks up mildly at your outburst.

”Hmm.” He returns to his newspaper, and is silent for several moments before speaking.

”Are you twelve? It's an interesting question. I remember your birth quite well. I think I've a ready facility for the recollection of facts, of dates, things of this nature. And I recall, right now, that you're sitting at my table, eating my food, prepared by my servants. Payed for by my money. In the security of my home.

“Now, should you find yourself elsewhere, of course, you'd be the master of your own destiny, free to chart whatever course through life's choppy waters you should choose. As your elder brothers have chosen to do.Sense Motive One spoiler, below.

Now. This isn't a rebellion—not yet. A pitiful discontent, brought about by the actions of an incompetent. There's no need to quash anything—the people of this city might raise a clamor, but they'll fall back in line, if the Lord Mayor can keep his lower impulses in check. No need to send a third Tanessen to deal with this folly.” He dabs his mouth with a napkin and pushes his plate away. A servant rushes forward to remove it.

Now, if you're set on--”

Crakehall, your father's valet, enters the dining room and approaches the elder Tanessen, whispering something to him. Your father cocks his head, thinking for a few moments, before murmuring his assent.Sense Motive Two spoiler, below

”We are about to have a visitor.”

Several men enter the room—Chellish Citizens Group members, among them your eldest brother Collin. Leading the group is Darius Regegious.

Grinning ear to ear, Collin slaps you hard on the back. He's wearing the black and red plate mail that he's been wearing since his 17th birthday. On his back is a cold iron estoc nearly 4' in length.

”Ah, little brother, its been too long!”

A slight, sideways glance from Regegious silences Collin, although it doesn't wipe the grin from his face.

”Welcome to my home, Darius. Have you broken your fast yet?”

”You are too kind, Lord Tanessen.” Regegious responds in a firm, quiet voice. ”But alas, the business I am about prevents the niceties of a quiet breakfast among friends. I'm afraid that often my meals are taken on the wing.

“I'll not tarry long; the Chellish Citizen's Group wishes merely to inquire if you've heard of the injury done to Chaunceworth Sarini at the melee that occurred outside the Opera House recently.”

Tanessen rub's his thinning hair with his hand.
”Dreadful. Alchemist's fire should be banned within the city. As you no doubt are aware, I've pressed for this in the--”Sense Motive Three spoiler, below

Regegious cuts in gently. ”Quite. I agree completely, of course, and the Lord Mayor may yet follow through on this, in his wisdom. But the reason I ask is that I wished to extend the condolences of the Chellish Citizen's Group, on behalf of my father and all of our members, at this grevious injury to one of the cities nobles, and--”

”Yes, yes, as I said. Dreadful. The rabble is stirred, and its young Sarini who was burned. Consider your condolences extended. Should you see young Sarini, please offer my sympathies. Is it true that Countess Urora has refused to pay for the regeneration spells needed to heal the young man?”

Regegious clears his throat. ”Yes. Well, I'm sure this will be taken care of eventually. For now what is most crucial is that the nobles of this city know that the Chellish Citizens Group will not stand for this sort of rampant, anarchistic vigilantism--”

”Clearly not.” Tanessen says wth a tight smile

A pained expression crosses Regegious' face, but he continues. ”Our group stands at your command, my lord. Should you need escort duty while outside the Greens, please do not hesitate to request it.”

“What a kind gesture that is,” Tanessen says. ”This minor set back behind you, I've no doubt that the valliant Chellish Citizens Group has nothing but victories ahead. Oh, before you leave, Crakehall, please make sure a few disguise self scrolls see their way to young Darius here. Please commend them to Chaunceworth. It's not regeneration, but let it not be said a Tanessen shirks his duty to his fellow nobles.”

With a gesture from the elder Tanessen, Regegious nods and takes his leave. Geoff Tanessen stands, nods at Collin, and leaves the room.

Frowning slightly, Collin turns to you.

”Father seems...perturbed? Is all well?
