Belgraen (bell-Gray-N) the elven sage. He's 120 years old and as youthful as when he had only seen about six decades.
Belgraen has a small frame, but regal bearing. He is an always immaculately, if simply, dressed elf. He loathes any work that requires getting his hands dirty, but will if he feels the outcome is worthwhile.Prestidigitation was the very first cantrip he learned and he uses it several times a day to make sure he stays tidy. Magecraft has always been far more important to him than developing his physical form. He makes use of transformative spells when he absolutely must do something physically.
Belgraen grew up in a noble house and was raised in a human built keep on the borderlands of human and elven communities. The keep was located on an important trade route that included a major water way. Belgraens mother was a very talented diplomat and has served the function of keeping the peace between human and elven lands for centuries. His father is mage of minor (or major if it helps plot) note. The keep has a small village outside that acts as a crossroads for traveling merchants. The travelers were always interesting enough for Belgraen, but mostly because they had books from far off lands.Belgraen could never get enough books. History books, fables, religion, geography, language Belgraen loved them all. He participated in the usual elven pastimes of sword play and bowman ship when he was required to, but only when he couldn't get out of it. He much preferred to have his nose in a book than a sword in his hand.
Belgraen was a very physically weak child. Had he grown up among elves instead of humans this would have been of little consequence. However, human children have a different way of playing that often involves picking on smaller children. Because of this upbringing he developed a sixth sense about danger and learned to react fast enough to avoid trouble. Some small aspect of this "training" has been the difference between barely surviving and a grisly death on more than one occation. Additionally, his childhood among humans taught him to think differently than most elves. Though belgraen still has the long term view of his elven brethren he tends to feel more pressure to accomplish things like humans do. This attribute has caused him to focus on Magecraft and gain knowledge much faster than an elf would traditionally learn.
In time he found that his interests didn't really fit with the interests of his other family members. Though he still loved books he wanted to do more than just read about the world. He wanted to experience it. Over the decades he grew very tired of not being mentally stimulated. Belgraen tried to satiate his "wanderlust," as his mother called it, by staring into his fathers scrying stone, but even this grew less than satisfying after a few years. He knew he had to get out and see the world. In one of his books he read about a group dedicaJted to discovering the secrets of the world and sharing that knowledge. He wanted to be a part of that group.
To facilitate his wanderlust he told his mother that he wanted to discover something brilliant and make a name for his family, not to mention that it would most likely be highly valuable enough to increase the family coffers considerably. She reluctantly agreed and sent him to the Home City of the Pathfinder society at his request. Once there and after many trials and tribulations he passed the Society's tests to become a seeker of secrets, though just barely. Due to his high intelligence and the fact that he seems to know something about absolutely everything they sent him to act as a liason in *insert campaign appropriate city* as his first assignment. Here he continued his magely studies and acts as consultant on matters requiring varieties of knowledge and even served occationally with the city watch. Then he met her.
She swore, she started bar brawls, she sang baudy tavern songs, and when necessary she fought like a demon with her twin Kuri that she always had on her hips. He loved her immediately.
Belgraen initially met her when they happend to run into each other, literally, while trying to escape a bar brawl that had escelated. Belgraen helped her to escapte the ire of the city watch by casting invisibility on her. He later found out that she started the bar fight and nothing in his life previous compared to her. Her name was Polgara Banejerie and she was a firey haired adventuring ranger. He joined her adventuring party and in time the two became lovers and had a child (possible plot device, perhaps one of the other characters). The child was sent to her tribe to be raised and the two lovers continued adventuring for many more years.
She died as she had lived. Defending those who cannot defend themselves and insulting the mothers of her enemies even as they murderd her. In the rage of seeing his lover killed before his eyes Bengraen summoned the most ferocious and powerful demon he knew of and sent it to shred the murderer. Belgraen watched from a distance as his lovers killer died an agonizing acidic burning death. Later the same demon, now free on the material plane, came for Belgraen's soul. Belgraen just barely survived the encounter and only because of his druid compatriot's healing abilities.
After an extended period of mourning Belgraen took up the mantle of "Adventurer" once again. Discovering the secrets of the universe was his first love, but she was his greatest. Many things reminded him of her. The brief glimpse of a similarly colored strangers hair, incense and perfume, seeing young lovers holding hands. Occasionally he forgets that she's not next to him when he wakes. The reminders cause him great pain, but he happily bears this pain as it is his reminder of his greatest love. She would want him to continue adventuring and singing the bawdy tavern songs he learned from her. Though generally maintains a very well mannered and regal bering Belgraen can occasionally be found in seedier pubs leading the tavern patrons in singing some of the foulest tavern songs ever created. He does this in honor of her with joy in his heart.
Your timezone Eastern time. I live in Atlanta. I'll be able to check several times a day. I have a boring job and an Ipad. ;-)
Past experiences Extensive D&D/Pathfinder experience and I love Arcane magic users. Although, my PBP experience is admittedly limited. Fortunately I have been playing one and have learned all the details about how to use tags and which ones to use for what.
In three sentences: Why I should pick you to be on my team.
1) I'm well spoken, creative, easy to get along with and open to feedback. Important characteristics for a player.
2) I'm playing the high level arcane magic user and I really do know how all the spellcasting stuff works together. I have a lot of experience in this area.
3) I won't drop out of the game midway as I've seen happen with other PBP's. ;-) It's a small thing, but important.
Understand rubber bands? :) I have no idea what this means. ;-) ... No really. It is instructions, a question, or a joke?
Belgraen
I like a lot of what I've seen, but I wouldn't mind seeing some larger variety in where the characters come from. Granted, I don't want you to change anything, but it's always more fun to play a foreigner in a mysterious land imho. :)
My character can facilitate the travel from far away if needed. This was tentatively the plan for the Blackblsde Magus anyway. If they know me for whatever reason and have reason to travel with me we can literally be wherever you would like us in a round. :-) love greater teleport.

Time: Eastern US Time
Past Experience: Various places on RPOL also participating in a Carrion Crown AP, a Rise of the Runelords Game here, and a homebrew campaign. Additionally I'm running a pair of Council of Thieves Games.
That's in forum games. Outside of that It's about 9 years gaming and freelance writing experience.
In three sentences: Why I should pick you to be on my team.:
1. Because I've already invested a good amount of tiem in this character and I haven't even made the first post.
2. I know what I'm doing in terms of combat so the party won't die because I'm lacking in experience and I know how to have fun regardless if things go good or horribly horribly bad.
3. [incharacter]"Because It's right and because this cursed blade of mine demands it."[/incharacter]
Understand rubber bands? :): Yes, but the truth's they have to share is not meant for humankind.

Underdune Anum
Time: Central US
Past Experience: I played in a homebrew PbP, a tales of the margeve pbp and currently in Kirth's Aviona game.
In three sentences: Why I should pick you to be on my team:
1. I'm able to post multiple times per day every day of the week.
2. Looking at the other classes, Anum should fill in other areas rather well.
3. In it for the long haul.

Character Name: Go to Khaleem Pashir
Timezone: Central US
Experience:DM several live tabletop games, PbP currently in a Go to Rise of the Runelords campaign
Three Sentences:
- I can post several times per day.
- I don't have an ego so I don't get upset over in-character scuffs.
- I think Khaleem's background provides a lot of opportunity for role playing and can be used as a device to get the players into and out of situations in the game.
Rubber bands: Are good for keeping things held together.
Thanks for the consideration!

Taking into consideration the holiday weekend, I'll extend the deadline to Tuesday morning at 8 am central standard time. :)
Now you're talking. We'll see if I can't come up with something that feels a little more fun to play. Anything else you're looking to see, other than possibly a foreigner?
mathpro18
Your rock for extending this. I'll throw up a character in the next few hours. Since Drillboss D dropped(what a shame) I'll pick up the holy vindicator role. Now the question is do I want to go Paladin or Cleric into Holy Vindicator...probably cleric. I'll have my basics up(stats and such) later today. Thank you HeroLab for being so awsome and making the ability to crank out characters so easy.
Just to change things up a little and to add some spice I think I'm going to do a Dhampire Holy Vindicator but he'd have to channel negative energy. Anyone else have an opinion on this?

Considering you're going into a pyramid, I don't think that's the best idea, and personally, I don't like Dhampires, but let's see what you got! :)

Well, we have a ton of casters, and the running is tight there.

Well Dhampire is out then, thats fine. Probably just do half elf or elf holy vindicator. I'll get it up as soon as I can(working on a level 2 character now for another game I'm in but I'll get it up by the end of the day for sure).

I'm not sure Pallys can channel negative energy given their alignment restriction. That would mean that even Lay on hands (which is positive energy) would harm you instead of heal you. They do have access to the Inflict line of spells. You may have to rely on the latter to heal yourself.
The Dampir Pally is a tragic hero. That's kind of their whole point. They can help others more than they can help themselves. You'll be shunned and feared because of your undead heritage. As a paladin you remain resolute in your fight for those same ignorant people (not that you would call them that) who would see you destroyed because of your heritage despite your many many good deeds.
Blade is a good example of a tragic hero in this sense. Half vampire who kills vampires. It's poetic in it's irony. A Dampir Paladin would have to have the same outlook. You're the dark child who chooses to take on the mantle of light.
That's my two cents.
Edit: but I've never read the Holy VIndicator, so perhaps that's different than a standard pally.

Well I decided against a Dhampire for now. Here is what I've figured out so far...I know its nothing...but I'm working on it. I have stats down...lol. Oh and just FYI Belgraen Holy Vindicators don't have an alignment restriction.
Oh I hope the DM doesn't mind my choice of races(Aasimar) and the last name is temperary until I can come up with a better one. Right now I'm trying to figure out feats and spells...and I feel like my head is going to explode. I've never built anything this powerful before...well not for anything sustainable at least.
Lilly Talieb
I've got all the logistics figured out, now I just need to figure out gear and write up a background. The gear I have on her now may or may not be finalized...I'm over weight right now so I really need to figure out whats staying and whats going but I don't have time right now. I'll work on it tomorrow seeing how I have nothing going on.
Can anyone look at my spells and give me advice on any adjustments I could make? I've never played a caster this level before so I wasn't quite sure what I wanted to take.

Would you be willing to consider a Red Mantis assassin? She'd be lawful evil, as required for the prestige class, but by no means disruptive to the party.
My initial thoughts, based on reading the blurbs of the module, is the Red Mantis Vernai are concerned that they may have assassinated a ruling pharoah ages ago, during a time lost in their histories that the Blood Mistress -- the only member of the Guild with access to the Sarzari Library -- will not discuss.
Thus Dianora was sent to accompany several other travelers to enter the newly-opened pyramids and discover how its occupants died and if they were in fact sitting monarchs at the time of their deaths...
I haven't figured out the full details yet, but I suspect she'd be Ranger 2/Rogue 4/Red Mantis 9. I'll probably try working her up tonight (both crunch and a far more details fluff), though if you can let me know if the class and alignment would at least be considered first, it'd much appreciated. Thanks.

Sister Dianora's story (have the rogue and ranger aspects of the character done, but computer issues mean I can't do the red mantis parts until I get home, so will have to wait for tomorrow):
Dianora was born in Rahadoum, the only daughter of a pair of missionaries of Sarenrae, secretly in the kingdom to try to return religion to its citizens. When they were discovered, they were executed by members of the Pure Legion. The young girl was left in the care of an orphanage to be indoctrinated in the ways of the Laws of Man. They failed.
Dianora fled and eked out a living on the streets, pledging to avenge her parents. By 16, she had infiltrated the Pure Legion as a doxy, learning who had betrayed her parents to the military and who had carried out the raid. She began to take her vengeance as she could, taking little satisfaction in the bloodshed but determined to avenge her family.
The fate intervened. As she carried out her final vengeance killing, another woman showed up, tasked with the same murder. Seeing the potential in the blood-soaked young woman -- who was left bereft as her only goal in life had finally been accomplished -- the Red Mantis assassin took Dianora to Mediogalti, training her in the ways of the cult, training her to perhaps one day become one of the vernai and possibly even in time the bloodmistress of the entire Red Mantis Guild.
Sister Dianora
OK, some rolls for Dianora. Stats first, then some for age and height/weight.
4d6 - 3 ⇒ (6, 3, 4, 6) - 3 = 16
4d6 - 1 ⇒ (3, 1, 5, 6) - 1 = 14
4d6 - 1 ⇒ (1, 3, 5, 6) - 1 = 14
4d6 - 2 ⇒ (4, 2, 5, 3) - 2 = 12
4d6 - 1 ⇒ (5, 1, 3, 1) - 1 = 9
4d6 - 2 ⇒ (2, 4, 4, 6) - 2 = 14
1d4 ⇒ 3
2d10 ⇒ (8, 5) = 13
Wasn't quite sure how you wanted to handle HP, since I don't think I've seen that in this thread. If it's rolls, she'd be at 93 (not bad other than a few rough years while training on Mediogalti):
3d8 + 8 + 8 ⇒ (5, 5, 6) + 8 + 8 = 32
2d10 + 4 ⇒ (4, 5) + 4 = 13
9d8 + 18 ⇒ (1, 5, 2, 6, 6, 2, 1, 4, 3) + 18 = 48
She should be completely done except for traits (which I always have a lot of trouble deciding on) and gear, which I thought I'd hold off on until she was picked (since that's a lot of money to figure out how to spend). If that's a deal breaker, let me know and I'll do it Monday.
My avatar name: Motteditor
Character name: Sister Dianora (just click on the profile. She should be pretty much done except for gear
Time zone: Eastern Standard (or are we in Daylight now? I can never remember and can't be bothered to look it up.
Past experiences: I've been running a Kingmaker campaign since Dec. 25 and think it's going really well. I've had a couple campaigns aborted in the first couple weeks by disappearing DMs, but have just started a Council of Thieves AP that's going well. I've been playing/running D&D since around third grade, I think, and switched over to Pathfinder after discovering it in the last year or two.
Why you should pick me:
1. I'm an active gamer, who has some writing ability (heck, my screen name has editor in it...) and spends far too much time on the computer (I can usually post from work three or four nights a week, plus obviously when I'm home).
2. I try to make the gaming experience fun for both my fellow players and the DM, since I think that's crucial.
3. My character can turn into a fricking giant red praying mantis; how cool will that be to "see"?
Rubber bands: I think I grok them.

Past and Current Experiences
Currently dming an Eberron E6 PbP (Our War-Torn Souls Suffer Still). Also, I'm playing in Wrath's Rise of the Runelords (Tania Teg, bard), Scipion's Kingmaker (Corso Gaczi, rogue), James Keegan's Carrion Crown (Trevor the Yellow, paladin), Nazard's Arcadia (Noche'Wa the Wild Mouse, druid). I've replaced Scipion as dm for a few months for his Kingmaker game. I have never played beyond level 11.
In Three Sentences
Cahal'Din is of the desert and lives and breathes to the rhythm of traps' mecanisms, as well as to his pumping heart's furnace. He can send foes reeling and make traps and locks sign. He is your front man, whether in combat or in exploration.
Sister Dianora
As the deadline she was waiting for passes with no news, Sister Dianora looks pensive for a moment, but then pulls out a mantis-shaped helmet.
"It appears I may have to take matters into my own hands," the small woman murmurs before putting the helmet over her head. Her hands fall to the pair of hilts at her hip, each one attached to a wicked serrated blade.
Belgraen
Belgraen quietly watches the Sister prepare herself with a contemplative look on his face. He notices in particular the unpleasant blades she carries and decides in short order that he'd rather not be on the business end of them. Then once she makes eye contact he raises his eyebrow and states with a smile
Where to, Dear?

it's like having a bottled paladin. You must be exhausted all the time.

To the "chosen ones" - I will have the PbP Discussion Thread and Obsidian Portal up and running late tonight. The game will start officially next Monday.

Not that it helps, but it's actually an interesting parallel. Both were basically rescued by a religious entity; you could argue Dianora is what could have happened to Asher if he had taken a darker turn or had less faith.
She would argue that she fights injustice as well in some ways -- after all, she wouldn't be sent for someone if they didn't deserve it.

Yes. Going to need to figure a good role play reason to work with or in some way trust a professional assassin. Though I'm neutral and have no overt dislike of her profession I'd need to know she's not coming for me at some point. Although I do have contingencies in place. Perhaps ill just make it clear that if she kills me I'll be turning her into an ottoman and sending her express mail to this particularly deviant Balor I've heard of. Noting personal, you understand. *evil grin*
Edit: on second thought a better tac would be to add to the above that I intend to live forever. So if anyone ever does offer a contract on me she'd be better served to kill the one that put the contract on me and I'll pay or compensate her double. An alliance between us could be very beneficial. Hummm... That'll work.
Fair enough, dear?
