"Looks big an' ugly." This creature is not one I encountered while patrolling the woods. "An' hungry for humans."

One would normally see creatures like these associated with the Dark Tapestry

Disclaimer: I have no clue what that is

This particular specimen seems debilitated by some affliction, only barely able to perpetuate motion.

Zilchus rushes in and stabs the creature with his spear. There is a sickening squish sound as the spear makes contact, but it appears to inflict minimal damage. Aodan takes a moment to cast a spell, while Eugene explains his theories on the creatures origins.

The large creature lunges at Zilchus snaping is strange jaws at the self proclaimed kobold slayer.

Davros stumbles through the cave in a dream-like state, clearly confused and not quite paying attention until it is too late. Once he clears the cobwebs from his eyes he positions himself at the far end of this...thing.

Aodan's eyes widen as the crabster slices easily and deeply into the foreign slave.

"ديفيد، وتوخي الحذر. سيكون من ضيع ومعادية للعبدا الأجانب ليكون القتيل بوحشية على ساعتي"

Qadiran:
"Davros, be careful. It would be ignoble and inhospitable for a foreign slave to be brutally slain on my watch." Unless, of course your mission is nefarious, and then, well, the creature would be doing the Empire a service.

He steps forward and fires his enhanced bow.

"Watch your aim, Mauler!" Zilch begs Aodan as the arrow comes too close.

Zilchus' face crunches as he sees that his mighty spear does less damage than he thought it should and could. He tries to fry the creature, extending a shocking touch instead.

Zilch is updated. The changes from the above would be: +1 to hit and +1 to damage on his last attack, and the panicky Zilch casts False Life before entering: 1d10 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14 Temp HP.

Aodan's arrow goes wide nearly hitting Zilchus. Changing tactics from his spear the man tries a shocking spell, which seems to get the desired results, however he now has the foul creatures attention.

The half-elf's eyes widen as he sees just how big this creature is, how menacing it's blows appear to be, and how close he is to it.

In side the scroll tube is a spell scroll, while the dark wood case holds five books. Four of these books are rare anitque tomes on astronomy written in Ancient Osiriani. "Eh, that book. That was the book I was to scribe for my Mistress. Eh, would you be permitting me to examine the tome for a moment?"

Sczarni

Eugene:
There is no straight answer to this question. It really just depends on what sort of morals Eugene has. If he is a letter of the law kind of guy then the cave is free game as it in not explicitly listed in the contract. If he is a spirit of the law guy then it would fall under the intent of the contract to secure Hunclay's estate for auction. You may wish to hash this out with your fellow adventurers.

If Davros examines the book:
The book contains hundreds of pages of cramped handwriting in Aklo. Flipping through you find numerous breath taking illustrations of eerie monsters and alien gods. There are also many complex star charts and diagrams. Your heart sinks as you realize that it will be no simple matter to scribe sections of the book. Either your mistress sent you on a fools errand or Hunclay has duped her into believing he'd share such knowledge.

Anything in the dark wood case?

Zilch begins to load up on the loot they acquired, being outside the manor and totally his theirs.
