I would also like you to post your characters here when they are finished. I expect Painlord will want some special exception.
To be fair, I'll post my character here no problem. I'll happy post what I look like, my personality, my internal motivations, and some back history. If anyone is interested in some shared backstory and has some ideas, please PM me.
I'm happy to share my build with the GM. I don't want to know your builds...I want you to play whatever you want without any expectations or conditions.
Some recommended reading for the new players.
Oh, I see how it is...you link to that PbP Gude, but not the other one?
Uh huh...it's going to be like that, eh GM Kyshkumen?
* * *
I should have a preliminary yahoo sketched and up here tomorrow night. I'm still going over concepts and what not. Not sure yet what will be the defining aspects of his personality nor his backstory.
Please forgive the delay.
I'm excited for this.
If we need any extra good players, I can help recruit good PbPers that I know.

Milk before meat Painlord, but since you brought it up you can plug your thread that adds some great ideas to the one I linked above. Also how is that guide to PbP GMing going?
I think we are good with four players on this one and I am looking forward to this as well. I will need a little time to get some basic prep work in. I am tempted to use roll20 but I need to look into the subcription so people can use their ipads.

1 person marked this as a favorite. |

Uhm...what are the construction requirements?
15 pt buy
Core races
Starting Gold?
Third party products? (you know my heart is totally set on a psionisist gunslinger who pulling up some feats from the Book of Nine Swords and some 1e stuff I have...that's okay, right?)
Advanced Class Playtest?
How many traits?
Magic Item creation?
* * *
Also how is that guide to PbP GMing going?
Hmm...see, I dunno that I can write one until I actually do more PbP GMing. And yes, I probably should do that, but mostly I suck too much right now to get on that. But Andi has been pushing...and you can only say no to Andi for so long before you give in.
I ponder.

![]() |

Starting gold we'll say an even 200.
Third party, would be on a case by case basis since I am not familiar with any of it.
Playtest if you have a good backstory
2 traits will be allowed but I want them more based on character flavor then function. So no worshiping Torague strictly for the never flat footed bonus.
Magic item creation? Not sure how that works at level one, there will be ways for crafting things as we move through the story.

Adding Andi to the group to make a total of 5 players. This will change things a little in the time table. We will probably have everything up and going in about 2-3 weeks with character creations and my prep work. Well will then start things slowly until Kubla and really dive in after Kubla weekend.

Still working on my yahoo...now that a chaos element has been introduced...uh, things have changed. I need to plan differently...
...which is fine because we have more time than I thought to work through all this. I keep kicking around ideas.

I am posting with one of my characters to give you a general idea on what I expect your characters to look like. If you click on the character name it will take you to his profile page which has his back story and complete stat block.

Welcome Brian!
If you have any questions, I'm sure you'll get lots of help from the yahoos here (including me). PbP can be a wonderful experience...it can really enhance RP and character development. I encourage you to think of an arc for your character.
As for what is needed, my suggestion is to play whatever you want to play. I don't even want to know what you or anyone else is bringing...just have something you want to have fun with.
As for my yahoo, I'm more than 50% done...I should have an intro post up this weekend, maybe.

So I was thinking since we have a little time before we start you can do some character introductions and RP a little in here before the game officially starts. It would make sense story wise as well since you have been traveling with the same caravan for a few days before the story starts. Since he hasn't posted it yet some expanded thoughts on PbP...by some guy. Also the post that got me motivated to try PbP.
Edit:Glad to see you found your way Brian. Let us know if you need any help making your character alias.

![]() |

Brian lets work on making the alias for your character first. Go up to the very top of the page and click the My Account link. That should take you to a log in screen. After that it should have you on your account screen. On the left is a box labeled Alias, click the button that says create new alias. This should bring you to a screen that will let you type in the name of your character and select a stock image for your character (there may be a way for a custom image but I do not know how yet). Once you have the name and image selected hit save changes. Then come back here and post something and use the "post as" drop down at the bottom left to select to post as your new alias. Once I see you have done that we will work on the profile.

It would be nice if you had a proper stat block if you could maybe email me one I could get you an output that you could just copy and paste in there. In the mean time I would like to see some mini stat blocks like Kawrock has under a spoiler tag. They are super helpful for me and may come in handy for you from time to time. First go down to the bottom of text box where you post. You see something that says "How to format your text" hit that button next to it that says show. Right now I'd like you to focus on the second one from the bottom, the "spoiler=" one. It's pretty simple you go into your profile and put that first command line in the class level box before any text and after the = you will put stats. Then I want a list of stats that similar to these.
Druid/2 | HP 16/16 | AC: 19/ T: 13 /FF: 16 | F: +4/R: +3/W: +6 | CMB +2 | CMD +15 | Speed 20 | Int. +3 | Perc. +10 | S.M. +3
Of course I want your characters stats not mine. Then close it out with the [/spoiler bit and your done. Hit save and you should have something that looks like this

Brian, do you use herolab? It has an export function that will do all the formatting for you except for the spoiler tags.
No, I don't use HeroLab, I'm too cheap to kick down the money for it :)

So Painlord when should we expect your guide to being a better Pathfinder card game player?
Not sure that's ever going to happen. I'd have to play the game a LOT to make that happen and not sure that's even possible.
It's about as likely as Jovan posting everyday in this game. Or Andi building a character with a Will save. Just not very likely. ;)

Lots of doors in this place. Two more down the hall, double-doors by the hidden corridor entrance, a door on the curled east hall we skipped, and it looks like a bunch on the west side, too.
Maybe we could set up a standard-operating-procedure for these multiple doors (to keep opening them until we run into something threatening or spot something)?
E.g., Candrana examines door and opens while Grayson and Zilchus have bows armed and ready. If door is opened successfully (and nothing pops out), Aodan (and whoever else wants to look) could enter the room and investigate. While Zeke, of course, covers all of our butts.
Still lots of doors to open, and so far openings have been uneventful, so would standard set of procedures move us along?
(I like the flavor of the cells, and we'd still investigate each one - we just wouldn't have to re-post each search and entry each time. If we survive an attack and/or spot something interesting, we could change procedures if desired.)

+1. Whatever works best.

Zilchus Lyghtlode |

Ok let me be more specific Zilchus. When you are covering the people in your party do you have an arrow notched and pulled back ready to fire while aimed directly at them.
Uhm. No. Well, maybe in Candi's case.
Remember the cop buddy movies when one cop says to the other cop during a gunfight: "Cover me! I'm going in!!" then that one cop enacts his crazy scheme to unleash the vorpal exploding monkeys upon the bad guys? Then the other cop stands up and starts shooting all over the place at any bad guys he sees?
It's more like that. Zilch has no idea where is arrows are going after a bad guy shows up.
