I'm quite confused over the state of the minotaurs weapon. Is it there or not? Either way I'm pretty sure Zander is dead. He can't heal enough not to die from a full attack, and there is no logical reason the beast wouldn't continue hitting his target. Thoughts guys?

What can you do at this point? Total defense SA and get between and behind the trees? Even dropping your weapon would remove you as a threat, compared to Vyk and Lady Adelaide, and you could heal yourself and possibly Janira if we can draw it away. All told, though, considering the player-killing power of what we are facing, pretty much on its terms, we're in TPK potential, though I might be able to stay ahead of it and keep blasting it with MMs. Vincent, too, if he gets out the Expeditious Retreat.

I believe it is 'broken' but still usable, just at various penalties. I thought he still had it, but I could be wrong. If it doesn't have it, I would cast Grease at its feet, of course.

Broken is a -2 to attack and damage. It's not destroyed, just broken.

Also, Lady Adelaide, your 5 ft step was a free action. You still have a standard action, not sure what you can do with it.

Vincent moves closer, to K-21, and prepares for a possible attack from the minotaur. "Turn and fight me, you overgrown cow! You couldn't hit the broad side of the barn you live in with that thing!"

Standard action to total defense. Move action 20 ft, 10 ft away from the minotaur. Hopefully I have goaded it into attacking me instead of Zander.

The axe in the minotaur's hands starts to slip as it is suddenly covered in grease, he quickly tries to maintain his grip.

Reflex: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25

He some how seems to find a grip and hang onto it.

Zander you can breath a little easier as Adelaide and Vincent did the best thing to help you, give it multiple targets. So it's your turn Zander then the minotaur.

Adelaide is fine, her AC was 24 due to Total defense action so the axe missed.

Seeing the beast whirl about ineffectually, Zander continues healing himself so that he can get into the fight and hopefully put down the beast.

Adelaide wobbles as the axe connects with her shield, but is relieved to feel it harmlessly deflected. Feeling more courageous, she steps toward the evil creature (5ft step to N22) and slashes at it with her falcata. "You will rue the day you chose our Janira for your opponent!"

Garedon - no battle mage yet! - fidgets with his ring... Remembering and feeling like a fool, he changes his course of action, stowing his scroll and recasting Grease from memory restored through the power of the bond.

Vyk took a deep breath, and searched within him for the arcane energy he needed. Suddenly his left hand began to smolder with lightning.

He moved in, maneuvering himself so he was opposite Lady Adelaide. L25 for the flank.

He lunged with his rapier then moved to deliver his shocking payload.

Adelaide and Vincent work together and both land heavy blows on the minotaur causing it to bellow in pain. Again it's weapon is covered in grease and it tries to hang on to it.

Again he hangs onto the axe. Just as he's feeling good about himself Vyk moves in his rapier striking minotaur through the heart, and for good measure sends a surge of lightning through the minotaur causing it to collapse.

Vincent retrieves Janira's CLW wand and brings her back to consciousness with it. "It looks like it was harder to shake off than you thought. You're lucky we found a back exit in time." He hands her backpack back to her with the remainder of her supplies.

He inspects the minotaur briefly (any obvious loot?) and starts walking back to the cave. "I used your barkskin potion. We should get more exploration in before it wears off. We're only half done with the cave."

As the minotaur sinks to the ground, Adelaide whirls around to check on Zander. Seeing him standing fairly unharmed, she sighs in relief and instead offers a smirk. "Alright there, pretty-boy? That bull almost cut you in two." She feels the adrenaline slowly leaving her blood as she stows her blade. "I mean, it's good for you he didn't; I can't imagine how hard it must be to accessorize a legless torso."

As Vincent heals Janira, Adelaide moves to assist the woman to her feet. "I admire your bravery to no end, Madame Janira! Your last trick with the whip was nothing short of outstanding. Are you feeling alright now?"

I will live. I failed to anticipate that the beast would be able to reach me without opening him self up for a reprisal strike first. says Zander with a lopsided grin. Seeing the others taking care of Janira, Zander moves to ensure the beast is dead, but also to check it for the spoils of war.

Janira sits up and waits a moment for her head to stop spinning then she looks up at the group a big grin on her face."Thank the gods you came back and saved me! I'm so happy to see you were able to take out that big meanie and no one else got seriously hurt. This is definitely going to go into the report as all of you went well beyond what was expected of you. I also owe you my life so if you ever need my help with anything while in the grand lodge you just have to ask." Vyk and Zander examine the minotaur only to find his broken battle axe and 2 javelins. Janira looks at Vincent and says, "That's fine I am sure it went to good use. Are you all done exploring the cave? Or did you need some more time?"

"Fortunately, I have come prepared with a full wand, though it is not a subject I have devoted study to. Therefore, I will need an assistant to repair these and future injuries," Garedon says as he hands his Wand of Cure Light Wounds to Vincent.

"Or, Zander, now that the minotaur is confirmed to be dead and no longer subject to the effects of inadvertently applied positive energy healing, perhaps you would now be able to heal the group more efficiently?"
Back to being inadvertently condescending and insulting. :-P

Vincent accepts the loan of Garedon's wand, tying it to his belt with a leather strap. He leaves his own, still unused and largely unmentioned, wand of CLW in his pack. He gives Garedon a grin and a nod of thanks. "I'll take good care of it."

The trip back into the cave is uneventful and you find yourself back in the cavern with Uori who is gesturing you over."The waters tell me you have cleared some of the evil from the cave and for that I thank you." He then offers you a wand saying,"There is still some work left to be done and this will help keep you safe. I have also been communing with the water on your behalf and I have learned a little bit about the original use of this cave. I will gladly share this with you once you return."

Zander takes the wand with a nod, "Hopefully I'll not have to use it before we are done with the remaining investigation" he says, tucking it in his belt pouch.

The group proceeds down the unexplored tunnel which is lined with the same glowing fungi. The tunnel narrows and widens back up randomly along the way with several off shoots which either get to narrow to go down or have been cut off by cave ins. After 20 minutes of walking you notice the sound of rushing water is getting louder and the tunnels broaden to reveal
a shallow river that bisects an immense tunnel stretching to
the north and south. To the east a small passage exits the
chamber at a steep incline.

Had to make a new map so use the link up top. Go ahead and put yourself in a marching order. You start in the off shoot on the left side, proceed as you see fit.

I put us in a vague order. Zander, Vincent, Adelaide, Vyk, Tuich, Garedon. We're a melee heavy team, so most of the party wants to be in front. I assume my 30 minutes of barkskin are probably about up, so Zander now has the highest AC (accounting for both normal and FF), so he goes in front.

Sczarni

The small stream moves at a lazy pace and does not look to be more then a foot deep. On the other side of the cavern two lizard like creatures dressed in leather armor hiss at you and draw their slings.

Looking back to the others, Zander silently inquires if the group feels ready to try the other method of diplomacy.

Zander isn't about to start a fight with humanoids who are most likely just protecting their homes.

Vincent murmers to Zander, "If they wish to fight us, then by all means let them. They shall find an honorable death by the blade."

Vincent is all about starting fights for little or no reason. He takes being a murdohobo seriously. But if we can decide that we don't need to fight them, then by all means we can leave them alone.

Did Janira stay outside? Or is she here for us to possibly consult her opinion?

Ouch. Totally failing to consider either the lizardman's likely rudimentary grasp of language or the fact that he's speaking draconic, Tuich decides to try channeling Garedon...

Perhaps you or some of your people can supervise? It shouldn't take long, and it could lead to cooperation between our peoples."
