            I like Hero Lab, but the stat block output seems like it's meant for NPCs and monsters.
you might be right, it is awesome at what it does though. i havent used it as a player yet, its my stint as DM in my tabletop game, but it seems like the on the fly adjustments would be great once you have it all set up properly.
do you know if there is a version for tablets? i get a whole side of a table to myself as DM so i can hide the laptop away below the level of the table. not so easy to do as a player.

            As a player, it is easy enough to finalize your character and just print it out. I don't like the current iPad version, but as Wilf said, they're working on it. I'm fortunate I guess that everyone has room for a laptop where I play. I have to say my favorite thing in Hero Lab is the conditions and adjustments. It's great for those rare conditions or ones you just haven't seen in a while. Mousing over the ? tells you everything you need to know about whatever it is you're looking at.

            yeah, there is room for laptops where i play but there are a couple of traditionalists who feel like it should be pen and paper. plus i guess if everyone has a laptop with their screen up its a bit of a block to line of sight etc. its supposed to be a social occasion i guess :)
the character sheet thing would be ok, but being able to add and remove status / spell effects and have it recalculate everything instantly is a big bonus i think.

I dunno, them Wolverton boys is...different :0
Yes, of course. Everybody has a profession/social status appropriate set of clothes.

            Mitran, here's some background on you mentor:
Old and frail, Mira Pasenan, is a wise woman and historian, with a particular interest in the Tuath - the civilization that rules this area and disappeared hundreds of years ago. Several years ago she moved to the hermitage at Clear Pool, and continues her research through correspondence and occasional visits from her student and great nephew, Mitran Drisol.

            Lets have some fun building Tomi's vision-quest. Each player pick something based on the list below. Tomi, try to write an opening stanza or verse that incorporates as many of those things as you can, and I'll follow it up with a 2nd verse that builds on it, then give you Ruan's interpretation.
Mitran = an animal
Wulfric = An object
Vilesse  = a natural place
Wilf = something seen in the sky

            Correct. So Wulfric gains 1 HP overnight. Tomi Bo and Vilesse heal all of their non-lethal damage.

            under a comet lit sky
the helmeted hunter lets fly
the warthog, strong and spry
hear the forests cry
Ah man, it even rhymes and stuff... Great job! here goes:
And tastes matron's blood on fateful night
When swollen silver moon shines bright.
The hunter riding steed of light
Chooses path of mercy or path of might.

Vilesse, thanks for the reminder on Hound, I will constantly forget he is there I am sure. Also thanks for giving him a name - sort of - typing "Vilesse' spooky nameless dog" again and again was giving me writers cramp ;>
FYI - a refresher on putting on armor...could become relevent

            speaking of vacations, im away for a long weekend this weekend so i wont be posting for three days.
like wulfric, and as i have said previously - DM bot that s!$* if needed.
liking this play by post business so far, will definitely be back :)

            Random minor ability, but in 3 levels I can half donning time and half it for 2 others at the same time. Could be useful. But yeah fullly donned as well for now.

            Since we were given several minutes by the GM's post I figure Vilesse would have used the time to gear up, so she's armored.

            Diplomacy rolls of 2 and 8. And this is where rules collide headlong with story telling /-:

            Just a note: In RP heavy scenarios like this, all I can do as GM is present the environment and predetermined events, then react to what the players do. If the players do nothing... I just move along to the next event, and the players lose the chance to influence and control the story. Which is fine, but kinda dull...
In a play by post it is just as important to play off the posts of the other players as it is to respond to the GM's, as players lack the spontaneous and rapid communication between each other that they would have around a real table.

            Yep, and I'm quite happy with the way things are progressing, nor would I want to tell anybody how to play their own characters.
I just wanted to point out that, to a point, how the story evolves is as much in the PCs hands as mine - hope I didn't come off preachy or scolding.
Its also a good chance for me to get feedback from you guys. For example, if Mitran is at a loss as to what to do next, maybe I need to be throwing out more clues and cues.

            I agree in general. but its a know:engineering check, not perception in this case. Untrained the best result you can get is 10. I'll work it into the next game post.

            regarding tomi scouting the outside of the walls, the connection i imagined him making is more one of 'we were being watched, maybe they did it and had to come closer to cast their spell'.
however in the interests of keeping the party together he will make his way to the infirmary after his search turns up nothing.

            Right, got it. There are no tracks that you found indicating that the watchers got any closer to the priory. Even if someone had been standing atop the priory wall, they would not have had a clear line of sight to Ythel's doorway - They would have had to be in the chapter-house itself.

            just throwing out cluedo style stereotypes, rosenn is the bookish type (read spellcaster) and haunts the library from what i can gather - and the stairway which would have given her a view of ythels doorway leads to the library.
tomi still strongly suspects tomas, but i myself am not so sure!

            Yep - crazy! And about a dozen of them under the age of 10. Ever see what that many rugrats hopped up on cake and ice cream can to a basement rec room?

            I'd rather not think about that.
I did, however, once throw a party during grad school which probably had 50 drunken grad students attend (we went through 3 kegs). I wonder if they or the rugrats were worse.
