We still have 4, right? That isn't a bad number. I wouldn't be against inviting a couple more, but I think a public recruitment would be a mistake. At this point we are having a hard enough time making choices and moving things forward. We can't afford someone who is just going to flake out, and if this game is dying, then sad to invite someone else to the funeral. :) If we are going to get someone, let's get someone we know who has a good record of keeping things alive and posting regularly. Anyone have suggestions of someone like that?

I'd be fine with either staying as we are or recruiting maybe one more. I prefer smaller groups, as long as we're up to the challenges we face.

We're a rather well-rounded group as it is, but I agree that if you were to recruit another player I'd say avoid a big public recruitment.

Oh, totally that wasn't meant as a slam. I feel like it gets really slow sometimes, and if someone doesn't step in and kickstart it that it will.

For instance... I never wanted to go down that ladder. My preference would have been to clear the level first. I just did it because it seemed like things were grinding to a halt. Does that make sense? ... No blame on anyone. I see games die all the time. Some of them need to, honestly, because they just aren't working.

This one I think just needs to work out the kinks, like what we do in a lull. Maybe if no one has posted in 48 hours (not including weekends), we should just jump to the next thing or something? If we jump too soon for someone, then it is okay to retcon things ... like "before we left, I gathered the loot" or something.

Yeah, pushing is something I've always been bad at. I'm trying to improve, but It's not been a fast process.

I'm usually better at pushing, but I've been feeling burnt out of late. I think I'm recovering, though.

I'm always nervous about moving too fast, but I'll try to push more than I have. I think the mark of whether this will have any longevity is if we can get out of the caves. From what I know of WotR, a lot of games never get out of the caves.

At work at the moment, so I can't really get enough time to post all the details of what's in the lockbox- but I will say that you opened it with that (it was a DC 25 lock) and that I will get to it when I get home. (Though that will be a while.)

I'm going to go ahead and admit that I do know exactly what that magic weapon is, but I won't let that color my gameplay. That being said, is there anything mechanics-wise I should note about it, any enhancement bonus?

So, there is a pit in this room, and a door (which looks like it leads to a pit)? It's okay if you missed something. Just tell us what the options are, so we can make a choice on which way to go.

Yeah, there's the pit (to the north, where the indent in the wall is) and the door (to the east)

I assume that the north pit is the main path and the one through the door is a side thing... could we just short cut this and say that a couple of us go east and down to check it out alone and then come back, or is there going to be an encounter there?

Not trying to ruin the story or anything... just don't want to go through and lower all the NPCs down and drag this out if we don't need to.

Looking at the details, the door path is actually longer then I thought.

So, I'm going to do this a simple way and offer the option to pretend that we never headed down the pit and allow you to choose where you want to go with the new information.

Yes, I'm still interested in the character, though you may see some minor to major tweaks yet. He's a character I've often thought of as being a good one to inject into a campaign that was already underway, being the type to just show up out of nowhere with no explanation.

Shayde can be a team player... sort of. He likes to skulk around a lot, but shouldn't cause any party conflicts. Unless someone else in the party doesn't like strange people with shadow obsessions.

So your party role would be that of a debuff/tank hybrid yes?

Have you given any thoughts to item creation or the body guard feats?

Actually, Shayde is a bit odd in party position. He specializes in hit-and-run tactics, as well as debuffing, stealth, and ambush. He can tank to a certain extent with Stalker's help, but prefers not to stay engaged too long.

As time goes one, he plans to take Spring Attack, in combination with Vital Strike and Power Attack combined with his Sneak Attack to maximize single-blow damage while keeping out of direct melee engagement, but he isn't averse to exploiting flanking for multiple sneak attacks in a round either. Think of him as a bit of a heavyweight rouge with some spellcasting focused on debuffing and battlefield control (particularly light/darkness/visiblity manipulation).

To a certain extent, he'll also be adapting to the party's overall combat style and what seems to work best with the campaign.
