GM G |
"They will be in the office, first door to your left after you've entered"
You move to the mentioned door, which stands open and peer inside. You see nobody. The office is furnished with two disorganized desks and shelves covered in flat papers, quills, and inkwells.

Orin Tane |

Orin peeks his head in.
"Hello? Anyone here?"

GM G |
The big barbarian steps into the room, prepared for anything that might be out of the ordinary.... but nothing attacks him.... it seems there really is nobody in the room. He does spot two small boxes on the desks next to two foot long copper sticks.

Enrithel |

Enrithel will skim through the papers on the desk.
Perc: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17

GM G |
The papers deal with the inhabitants of the nursery, overdue labor bills for maintenance and those things.

Enrithel |

"This doesn't look very helpful. Let's visit Dern's room."
Enrithel starts heading that way unless someone speaks up.

GM G |
Before heading out of the room Enrithel decides to cast detect magic and he easily determines that the two coper sticks are magical.
The boxes contain different salves, fake eyebrows and the like. both are disguise kits with 4 charges left
Back at Dern's room you open the door to an empty room. After a moment hesitation you go back to the office and see if you can find a roster that couples rooms to names. Only six rooms seem to be occupied. Dern is in room 8. Nobody reacts to your knocking, so you open the door.
A single candle provides the only illumination for this dark room, which has a pungent, sweet odor different from the rest of Mother’s Care Home. A human man in the grip of a fitful sleep lies on a bed within.
I have marked the other occupied rooms in red on the map

Enrithel |

Enrithel will appraise the man's health from a distance, as best he can.
Perc: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8
Heal: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (10) + 0 = 10
"Well, he's here and he's alive at least." Enrithel whispers.
"Should we rouse him?"

Orin Tane |

"Raymond? Care to charge blindly into the room again? I believe you are best equipped HANDle this old man."

Enrithel |

"Oh god, please don't subject him to that monstrosity. It seems like he's been through enough having to live in this prison."

Raymond Jervail |

"Monstrosity!? Why I oughta... oh, you mean the red thing. Yeah, I guess it's a monstrosity. Useful sometimes, I suppose."
With that, Raymond walks into the room and tries to shake the guy awake with his non-red hand. This can only go well, right? LOL

Enrithel |

"Sure, I meant the red thing..."
"We might need to get a priest in here to take a look at him, unless there is some magic here keeping him in this state."

Orin Tane |

Orin will cast detect magic and look the man over.
kn arcana: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (4) + 13 = 17

GM G |
There are no magical aura's in the room besides the ones you brought in yourself.
You can all attempt a heal or craft alchemy check

Enrithel |

Heal: 1d20 ⇒ 1
Enrithel also stands there looking dumb.

Orin Tane |

Orin will take a look.
heal: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19

GM G |
Orin and Hurok recognize the symptoms of the poison indigo dreams. He can neither speak nor write as long as the poison affects him, but medical or magical treatment that removes the poison from his system or otherwise raises his Wisdom score should wake him up.

Orin Tane |

Is it too late to give him anti-toxin or use the heal skill?
"This man has been poisoned. We need to get him to a healer, or wait and hope for the poison to clear naturally. I can try to aid him, but this is not my area of expertise."

GM G |
Orin: no it is not too late for that. For a once-per-day save that will happen mid-day and you are already past that mark for today

Orin Tane |

Orin will feed the man an antitoxin, and attempt to treat poison with heal.
heal - Treat Poison: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23
+4 (Heal skill) & +5 (Alchemical) = +9 vs poison on next save

Enrithel |

"I'm glad you were able to help him. We should see if the other residents are in similar condition."

Raymond Jervail |

"Yeah, if everyone in the place looks like this, then we definitely need to shut the damn place down. No one should be reduced to this state."
Raymond heads back to the door of the room and moves on. Next door on the left?

GM G |
That room is empty, you open the next one. In this one an elderly varisian woman opens her eyes when you open the door ”Betsy, is that you? Can you fix me a sandwich or something? I am hungry”
I have placed Orin in this room, so you know which room it is

Enrithel |

Enrithel will stay with Dern and cast Message on the party before they head out.
"I'll keep watch over Dern. Let me know if you find anything important."

GM G |
The woman smiles a toothless smile ”Nah, ya don’t sound like Betsy. Who are ya?”

GM G |
”Oh, aren’t you cute? Nothing strange here, although I could eat something”
The room shows signs of neglect, the bedding is dirty and the chamber pot has not been emptied in a while... Fortunately for the elder woman she in such a state that she does not notice it.
Want to go through all the rooms?

Orin Tane |

Sure, let's take a look around.
While the others are talking Orin will peek into the next room(s).

Enrithel |

Enrithel messages from Dern's room:
"Have you guys found anything?"

GM G |
You go through all the rooms at the northern end of the corridor with similar results: those few that are occupied have elderly inhabitants that have obviously been ignored and maltreated.

Orin Tane |

Orin will check over each patient one by one. (Take 10 on heal: 15)
If they don't look contagious, but seem like some magical healing might help, he will use healing hex for 2d8+5 (Approximately 13 healing per person)

GM G |
The elderly people could use some TLC, other than that they are fine. Dern is the only one so far that has been poisoned.
Will give others some time to post before continuing with the southern side of the corridor

Raymond Jervail |

"So they only poisoned the one old geezer? What's the point of that? Think he knows somethin' they don't want others ta know? Makin' him stark ravin' mad would be a good way ta keep a secret."

Enrithel |

Enrithel is becoming concerned, having not heard any messages back from the party.

Orin Tane |

Orin returns to Enrithel.
"No other poisons. Just age and neglect ailing the rest."
Orin will now rummage through cabinets and storage closets for supplies for the residents.
"If you won't do anything to help these people. I will. I advise you step aside."

Enrithel |

"Anything I can do to help?"

Orin Tane |

"It's a waiting game for Dern. I've done all I can for now. He should recover soon. As for the rest, they just need general care. Food/water/baths. Anything you care to do."

Hurok |

As the others attend to the elderly on the northern side, Hurok will begin exploring the occupied rooms on the south end of the corridor, beginning with the room to his immediate south (per the map).
He opens the door and peers inside before entering.
Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (12) + 9 = 21

Enrithel |

Enrithel will go find the woman we spoke to earlier and ask her to bring food to any resident that is awake. He will also use prestidigitation to clean the worst parts of their chambers.

GM G |
The woman has some supplies, but most is stale bread "The masters don't provide me with any means to buy the good stuff, so I make do with bread soaked in water"
Hurok finds an elderly garundi man in a similar neglected state as the other people.
