This is a module for 1st level characters only.
Please give me the following information:
1. Player/Forum Name
2. Character's Name
3. Class
4. PFS# (and dash)
5. Faction
6. Day job Roll (if any)
Please take notice of the following
I expect you to fill your initiative modifier, perception modifier and preferred place in the marching order on the map link. If you do not fill these you get to act last in initiative and fail all perception checks automatically that I make for you. I will place you last in marching order.
I handle initiative in posting order.
I expect you to use the appropriate lines (Race, Classes / Levels and Gender) to give me vital information (AC, Saves etc) about your character. You can take a look at my aliases for an example.
I attempt to post once a day during weekdays. When I do not post: I have not forgotten about you, there were other things to do with my time that took priority. I will let you know when I won't be able to post for an extended period and expect the same from you.
And most important: this is a game and I expect us all to have fun while playing! If something causes you not to have fun: please address it (either here or in a PM) and I will do my utmost to get you back to having fun again.

Mort is here! Slightly changed from when you last met him but not much. A little more agile and a little less personable. He did put his share of the cash prize and extra rubies to use and picked up some very nice MW agile breastplate.
He's up front!
1. Player/Forum Name: Massee
2. Character's Name: Mort Gloomhollow
3. Class: Slayer 1
4. PFS#: 202046-9
5. Faction: Sovereign Court
6. Day job Roll: None

Gerald
Ashwell

Profession (Librarian) 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10
Thanks for running this for us, DM!

Hi GM G, I'd like to join you guys but need to finish up my character. I'll have that done by later today.

![]() |

Here we go. Crunch is more or less done, I have her backstory in my brain but need to commit to paper. That'll be done later today and into tomorrow.
1. Player/Forum Name: GM Red
2. Character's Name: Linria Korudorn
3. Class: Witch 1
4. PFS#: 205498-15
5. Faction: Dark Archive
6. Day job Roll: Craft (boneworking): 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 13

(Casts burning hands at Mort for comic relief)
No hinting at those sort of things. :D
Edit:
With the armor and shield, i will have to adjust a few things.
But those i will have to do tomorrow afternoon, as it's late and i have to be at work early in the morning.

GMG |

Good night to you all! Gameplay is open, once you are all there we will start.

I swapped Mort's stats a little bit to try to make him a bit more agile and less charismatic. So far though I think I'm not liking the idea of his charisma being average and his wisdom being above average. You mind if I revert him back G? A powerful personality with average at best wisdom seems to fit him well. I also can't see him as being super agile at his size and he's going to wear as heavy armor as possible.
I do think I'll develop him talking to his sword and even naming it...I'm thinking Mort and his sword Mindy...

![]() |

I get that reference, although that show predates me.. :P
I'd be a liar if I didn't say Lyn wasn't partially inspired by Sirettis. Slumber Hexing just looked like too much fun to pass up!

![]() |

Ya the show kinda predates me too, I was pretty little, but a nice little remembrance of Robin Williams anyhow.
Slumber Hex is pretty damn crazy. A never ending supply of save or dies starting at level 1.

![]() |

Plus I took the Honeyed Words trait to increase the DC. Of course, you have to worship a dwarven deity to get that trait, and that was the inspiration for my backstory. You can only optimize so much before it doesn't make any sense at all. Like this one dwarven bard I know with the Lotus Geisha archetype...

Player/Forum Name: Lady Ladile
Character Name: Corona Merrion
Class: Oracle (Dual-Cursed)
PFS#: 192133-7
Faction: Silver Crusade
Day Job: Profession: Baker: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19
Okay, finally! I made a couple of changes to Corona; swapped out Profession: Astronomer for Profession: Baker, swapped out Bless as a spell known for Command.
Accordingly, I spent 2PP for a Wand of Bless :3
I think that's everything; will catch up on Gameplay now!

GM Hmm |

Do you have a full six, Magabeus? I am looking for a spot for someone brand new to PbP. I would love to seat him in a good group. He's a VC from another state.

Oh, that would be very kind of you, Nefreet!
Magabeus, would you be okay with that? You're a great GM, and I know you have some of the most awesome players on the boards here!
Hmm

Sure, just point him / her to here. Thank you Nefreet.
I am on a business trip until Wednesday evening, typing this at the airport. We will start for real on Thursday.
PC's for this game
- Ashwell
- Blaze
- Corona
- Linria
- Mort
- 'VC from another state'
Can everyone who has not put his/her initiative and perception modifiers put them on the map page? See also first post in this discussion thread....

Done! Thanks for the notice GMG, looking forward to getting started and looking forward to meeting our 6th!
Also kudos to Nefreet for volunteering his spot :)

GM Hmm |

Okay, I pointed Larry here.
Thanks, Magabeus!
Hmm

GMG |

Okay, I pointed Larry here.
Thanks, Magabeus!
Hmm
You're welcome! Larry isn't by chance the one that goes by the nick ' supervillan'?

GM Hmm |

Not sure. It's not his main alias, that is for certain.
Shoe, go away! It is not nearly my 150th GM credit game, I am only just short of 100!
Like I have any authority over 5 star confirmation games. I'm not a VC, thank goodness.
:)
No, I'm just here to lurk a bit because you've brought together some of my favorite players in the world. You can send me away if you want, though.
Hmm

![]() |

Thanks, Hmm, for the nudge in the right direction. And thank you all for making room for a new PbP player. I've been playing for a number of years, and I'm a V-C for Southwest Washington, 1 game short of 150 GMed. OPC Tonya W. has graciously agreed to oversee my attempt at a 5th GM Star on April 23. Be assured, though, I'm approaching PbP with great enthusiasm, hope and not a little humility.
I haven't posted under any aliases, though I have a number of characters I've played in PFS Organized (F2F) Play.
A swarthy young Varisian bravo with dark hair and twinkling green eyes winks at his new best friends, "Gitano Frallino, ladies and gentlemen. Pleased to make your acquaintance. My rapier, my wit and my song are yours. I have some skill with the first. As for the rest... Well, I reckon we're all a work in progress, aren't we?"
With an eager and encouraging grin, tugging on his soul patch, Gitano says, "Tell me a little about yourselves, before we're off."
"Oh, do any of you happen to know exactly what sort of adventure this will be?"

Welcome Larry!
Please ask if you have any questions. We are happy to have you here.
Stat Bar
For the stat bar you can indeed use the boxes for race / gender / classes. Note that the order of presentation is: Gender - Race - Classes / Levels.
The easiest way to set it up is to look for a stat bar you like on another character. Then click on the picture of that character which will bring you to his profile page. If you have another tab open with your own profile you can copy paste and later adjust.
Initiative
A big difference between F2F and PbP is how most of us handle initiative. I have tried to set it out here:
I roll initative for everyone at the start of combat and will post a list that looks like this
Initiative
Combat modifiers like bless or inspire courage are posted here
Player A
Player B
- - -
Enemy 1
- - -
Player C
Player D
- - -
Enemy 2
In this case Player A and Player B can act, and Players C and D can not. If Player B posts his action those action are resolved and I change the tracker to:
Initiative
Combat modifiers like bless or inspire courage are posted here
Player A
- - -
Enemy 1
- - -
Player C
Player D
- - -
Enemy 2
- - -
Player B
If Player B wanted to wait to see what Player A did before acting he needed to either wait with posting or put in conditional clauses in his post like
If Player A flees the combat
Bertrand runs after Aloward, deciding that this enemy is too much for them to handleIf Player A casts a spell
Bertrand gawks at Alowards and mumbles "I didn't know you could do that!"In any other case
Bertrand steps up to the Aspis agent and attacks him with his greatsword[/b]
In other words: in the same initiative bracket your actions get resolved in posting order, not initiative order.
Your question
Is this sort of thing best handled under the discussion tab?
There is a fine balance there. I don't mind the occasional blue (ooc) question in a post. However if it becomes a paragraph you are probably better of with putting it on the discussion tab.
If the only thing you post is ooc, then you are also better of with discussion. However you can see that I also break these guidelines in this post...

GMG |

No, I'm just here to lurk a bit because you've brought together some of my favorite players in the world. You can send me away if you want, though.
Tssk, now you make me say it out loud that there is no reason for that! Happy to have you lurking here.

GMG |

Gitano: you should be able to move your icon on the map (link at top of page and 'Fallen Fortress' in my stat bar).

![]() |

Is your 1st name by chance deliberately named after the beer brand, since we're on the topic?
Actually no, this is more what I had in mind when I named her but I had a hunch that a lot of folks would think of the beer brand first ;)
At least Corona's is somewhat intentional and not like the time I managed to name a PbP character after an author of some renown without even meaning to...

![]() |

For future encounter's, Gitano's initiative modifier has been corrected: +6 (Dex + 2, Improved Initiative +4).

GMG |

Thanks Blaze, my descriptions are not meant to be exactly corresponding to the mechanics (although I try to stay close to them). I like to give the scene a bit of color. Otherwise PbP very quickly becomes a numbers-game, especially in combat.

![]() |

Thank you all for your patience and for your help, as I familiarize myself with the formatting and other nuances of PbP. I'm having a lot of fun, constantly checking back to see if anyone's posted.
Not a problem, Gitano! We're happy to have you here and it's always great to see someone so enthusiastic about the game :D

GMG |

I agree completely with Corona. It is always a pleasure to be able to help someone get into a new aspect of the hobby!

![]() |

Hey folks, I'll be working night shift for the next two nights so my posting may be spotty until Sunday. Feel free to bot Corona as needed!

GMG |

As you see I have botted Blaze.
Normally I would bot people in one of the following cases:
- 24* hours have passed since I posted that the character can act in a combat situation
- The player has posted that he/she is unable to post for a period of time
- Botting allows the other players to act
*: Don't take the 24 as a hard limit, it might be less depending on my expected opportunity to post.
In this case I felt that botting Blaze would give you all the opportunity to act again, without waiting for me to react to Blaze's post.
Botting will be done using instructions in a "Bot me" (or similar) spoiler on your profile page, or by using what I think are reasonable assumptions given your earlier posts and character sheet. My character Kara has a bot me spoiler if you could use an example. There is no need to follow that format, but it will give you an idea what I thought could help the people botting for me.
