Awesome - happy to have you. Have you played this one (or run it) before? I think, based on what I know so far, the hunter might be a lot more fun in this one.
There is a lot of combat and a lot of skills checks, and a few places were a good disable device might be handy, so either choice should be a good addition.

Bigguyinblack |

Yes I'm playing it in Core right now though at a higher tier.
We'll see what the other players bring. The Slayer is similar to the archer ranger but with trap abilities.
The Hunter can be very good in combat but since much of his damage comes from Broken Wing Gambit and aoos it will be complicated to run online.
Lunar Oracle 5 might be an option as well depending on when my other pbp ends. But he would mostly just be useful if we lack a face.
Weeks to find out what other players will be bringing.

Player: Edward McGee
Character Name: Dortlin Golani
PFS #: 145373-8
Faction: Grand Lodge
Day Job: profession sailor: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (14) + 10 = 24 though I might do something faction related instead.
I really only have 2 characters that are awkward to play online and you get to GM them both :)
Dortlin is a level 5 Hunter who rides his skinny ape (Narrow Frame) Clyde into battle.
A bit about how they work in combat.
Dortlin will try to identify the enemy then move to 10ft away from the biggest threat. (Clyde can move at double speed as a move action 3 times a day if needed.)
Clyde has been trained to use the Combat Maneuver (Dirty Trick: Blind) which will provoke if the target has reach. When rolling to attack he will use Broken Wing Gambit as a free action. He gets +4 to hit because he shares a space with Dortlin and they both have reach. He also has Combat Reflexes.
Dortlin typically uses his Bardiche to use improved trip on the enemy. He gets the same +4 for flanking +1 more from a trait. He also will use Broken Wing Gambit as a free action. And he also has Combat Reflexes.
When using Broken Wing Gambit the target gets +2 to hit and damage on the first attack against the attacker. But it provokes an attack of opportunity from anyone else with the feat. So since both Dortlin and Clyde have the feat the enemy will eat an opp attack from whomever they don't attack. Both Clyde and Dortlin get an opp attack any time the other one crits.
Out of combat Dortlin is pretty good at the following skills: kn Dungoneering, kn Nature, Perception, profession Sailor, and Survival.
Dortlin also reads a lot so he dabbles a bit in a few knowledges that are not class skills.
As far as spells go he is a spontaneous caster. His first level slots are mostly used for Shield Companion or Liberating Command. His second level slots are mostly Barkskin or Stone Call to slow down enemy melee.
Dortlin is a glass cannon tbh. He can do a lot of damage but I haven't gained enough gold to buy the armor I want so his AC is low. Clyde wears armor but his AC isn't great for a companion. Not yet anyway.

GM Fuzzfoot |

Ha! No problem. I do learn a lot of new things from your characters!

![]() |

Minor update. Dortlin has a +2 wisdom circlet now so the day job total is a 25. And it turns out that Dortlin is one of my characters that I'm not doing faction cards for.

![]() |

I should have Daniel updated before session start. Only used him prior for F2F games. Definitely Ranged and has a little Raptor companion who doesn't do much at this point.

![]() |

Not upset. But so far our party seems to be
Melee Hunter with melee ape
Monk
Ranged archer with a raptor
Caps TBD
And possibly a level 4 Keneticist if we can't get someone from the 3 - 4 table to switch.
We are low on things like casting, knowledges, face skills, and probably Disable Device if that comes up.
I might have a Lunar Oracle 5 by the time this starts but they are in a pbp so I can't be sure. My other option is a ranged Slayer who doesn't have improved precise shot yet though he is good with traps.

GM Fuzzfoot |

If you haven't experienced this scenario yet, I think you will find that a tank with face skills will have plenty of fun.

![]() |

I'm more then happy to hit things while they don't hit me back.
Maybe Caps will be a caster.

![]() |

We have wands of CLW. Short of someone with Channel that is about the best we'll get in this level range. The Bard/Rogue combo gives us knowledges, disable device, and more face skills. Or so I presume. Inspire even helps with all of the extra attacks from the animal companions.

GM Fuzzfoot |

OK, so we have:
Checked in:
Dortlin Golani(Edward McGee / Bigguyinblack) Hunter 5 melee 145373-8 Grand Lodge
Daniel Thrace (Pete H.) Ranger 6 123584-1
Vasily Petrescu (DM DoctorEvil) Human 3 Bard/2 Rogue 75247-??
~Lance~ (Shifty/Nik) 1/2Elf Cav 7 PFS #41662-12
email: nikolausb@hotmail.com
Still waiting to hear:
caps?
Ajir (Kibbleswitch) Kineticist 4 225410-1
I am not confident in the latter checking in - very sparse online info, and no response to PM.
Is anyone in a game with caps right now? He also hasn't responded to PM yet.

![]() |

Oct 6th is a hard start time because it is a special right? Because there is a local game on the 7th and if I played Dortlin it would bump him to level 6.

![]() |

Sorry I forgot to do this earlier...
Player: DM DoctorEvil
Character Name: Vasily
PFS #: 75247-7
Faction: Exchange
Day Job: Perform Strings, day job: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (18) + 12 = 30
I am okay with waiting until after 10/7.

GM Fuzzfoot |

It's ok, Dortlin. Had the same thing happen in my session 1 game. If you want to wait to start (meaning encounter posts) until after you play on the 7th, it won't affect anything. Since it is a weekend, the posts tend to be a bit slower as well. And it won't change the tier anyway. But we can go ahead with the intro and such. If you manage to die, though, do you have a replacement in range ready to go?

![]() |

Yes. A Slayer 5. Archer with Trapspotter.
Awesome. At 6th Dortlin gets the Paired Opportunists feat.

caps |

These are what I have to offer as far as characters are concerned:
Peribras Sandlock, Ranger 6
Fingalad Eldahir, Slayer/Magus 2/2
Arion Duvamil, Paladin/Oracle 2/2 (not a heal bot)

![]() |

All look fine though I would aim for being in tier so your Ranger unless one of the others is now 5.

![]() |

Is that the consensus? Is the tier the big of a deal? Peribras is sort of like a halfway point between Daniel Thrace and Vasily Petrescu. He doesn't add much that either of them don't already do better (although he does have a wolf).
Arion could fill a melee role, although he is still a little squishier than I would like.
With that said, I'll go with Peribras unless I hear a reason to do otherwise.

![]() |

I just remembered one thing that the GM may need to track. Dortlin tries to keep Shield Companion up on Clyde any time there might be danger. It works like Shield Other including the need for rings but I can only cast it on Clyde. I added the changes to his stat block in my header but any damage he takes is divided between us.

Shifty |

Post con admin done and the sheet updated.
Not much by way of changes.
Things to note for Lance:
Mount has Bodyguard archetype:
At 3rd level, a bodyguard can always act in a surprise round (though it remains flat-footed until it acts).
Both Lance and the Mount have the lookout Feat:
Your allies help you avoid being surprised.
Benefit: Whenever you are adjacent to an ally who also has this feat, you may act in the surprise round as long as your ally would normally be able to act in the surprise round. If you would normally be denied the ability to act in the surprise round, your initiative is equal to your initiative roll or the roll of your ally –1, whichever is lower. If both you and your ally would be able to act in the surprise round without the aid of this feat, you may take both a standard and a move action (or a full-round action) during the surprise round.
The implications are that if there is a surprise round, Lance and Flash will certainly be involved (to some extent) every time.
If Lance suspects an imminent encounter, he can share all of the above via Tactician.

![]() |

Oh. My first time at a table with another user of teamwork feats. Which ones do you have?

![]() |

Shame I can't share mine with everyone. I don't actually have Lookout so that could come up.
Clyde does have a trick called Chameleon Step that will let him move 60ft as a move action so I can set up flanks for others easily.

![]() |

Hey hey hey! Very new to play by post here but really really eager to learn all the ins and outs. Today being game day, and me still not knowing where to go with it, I'd really like a nudge in the right direction here so as not to drag everyone down.

![]() |

PFS Play by Post Header Format
Race:
| HP: 7/7 | AC 14 (18), Tch 14, Fl 11 (15) | CMB: -2, CMD: 11 | F: +2, R: +4, W: +3 (+5 vs. fear)
Classes / levels:
| Speed 20ft | Diviner’s Fortune: 6/6 | Spells 1st: 1/2 + 1/1 | Perc: +2, SM: +0 | Init: +4 (Forewarned)
Gender:
NG Halfling Wizard 1 | (Modifiers) Shield 10 Rounds
I use this. You just update your stats then cut and paste into the race, classes/levels and gender spots on your profile. Play around with it too and get it how you like it.

![]() |

Pretty much yeah. As you figure out what you want to show up there and what most GM's like to see you can play around with it. I use 'ooc' tags to further separate sections with black then blue then black. This guy used a spoiler for his animal companion so there are a lot of cool things you can do. It can be a little tricky figuring out what what follows what because "Gender" shows before "Race" which shows before "Classes / Levels".

GM Fuzzfoot |

Ajir - you can tweak as you like, but I see all the info I really want in there, so this works for me.

![]() |

Dortlin lived. He's level 6 and is getting real mad at getting drugged by gods.
I will try to get his info updated asap but no major changes.

GM Fuzzfoot |

Ha! Glad to hear he survived. Now get back in the fray, boy! A Pathfinder's work is never done!

GM Fuzzfoot |

@Dortlin - you are a level 6 hunter, correct? That gives you a +4 BAB rather than +3. But how do you get +14 on your attacks, and +17 on your trip?
+4 BAB +1 MW +4 flanking +2 trip +1 Inspire = +12 - what am I missing?

![]() |

Extra +1 from flanking due to militia trait and he used animal focus to boost his str to 20 in the first round.
+4 BAB +1 MW +5 flanking +2 trip +1 Inspire +5 str = +18
And Paired Opportunists adds +4 to his aoos.

GM Fuzzfoot |

Ok, thanks. yep - I missed strength, and also missed the militia trait.
