Toboyn |

Toboyn looks at the dwarf, shaking his head slightly: a hardy example of a hardy race. "Balmir, I think we'll first want to make camp and rest a bit. As for the purpose of this building ... perhaps it is simply a factory for such creatures as we fought. Most likely we will never know. Now who has first watch? Balmir, do you remember that trick I showed you with the stars?"

GM Fuzzfoot |

You are indeed at S.
You find that the building serves well as shelter for the night, and take a much needed rest. Ready to head out? Any spell selection refinements?

Somer Hiondu |

In the morning Somer considers his spells but only makes a small change to what he normally prepares.

GM Fuzzfoot |

As you enter T, a low fog rolls in, dancing between the slender gray tree trunks and painting everything in a silvery mist. The blanket of brown fallen leaves crunches softly underfoot and the air smells fresh and earthy.
A hunchbacked and sickly-looking giant with boil-covered skin is trudging up the canyon from the southwest, leading a patrol of a several ogres. The ogres appear to be playing a game in which they hurl a furry ball at each other while laughing and making jokes.

GM Fuzzfoot |

Sorry - I mislead you by uncovering U too early. I assume you want to check T and U before V, correct?
Thanks to Mouser, you are able to hide behind some trees. You can engage the ogres at T or let them pass.

Toboyn |

"Gorum might have brought us an opportunity, but Cayden leads us to make better opportunity than charging in. Remember his wisdom: 'Fighting fair is for people with more titles than straight teeth'. He looks to his party, then at the puzzled Balmir "Let those of us who can fight at a distance soften them up a bit first; all right?"
He pauses a moment, eyeing his targets ... was that furry ball a head?

Somer Hiondu |

"A head? " Perception: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (6) + 12 = 18 "Sounds like something they would do... despicable."
He watches for a moment.
"Striking first and letting them come to us makes sense to me as well. What do you think, shall I try and put one down with some arrows or try to blind a couple?"

Somer Hiondu |

Somer nods and readies, first casting Mirror Image on himself and then drawing his arrows.
Mirror Image: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Realizing that the range on his scorching ray will not make it, even with an arrow, he readies to fire gloomblind bolts with his arrows. He looks to Tam first to make sure he is ready before the arrows fly as well.
With a nod he fires.

Gloomblind Bolt: 4d6 ⇒ (5, 1, 5, 3) = 14 +DC17 or blinded one round.

Toboyn |

Toboyn, the battle being joined, assays an attack of his own:
Holy Smite: 4d8 ⇒ (1, 2, 2, 8) = 13
which he feels was a little on the light side.
And all of them can make a will save, DC19, for half damage, no blindness

Mouser gets as close as he can without being spotted, then waits for his allies to spring the ambush.

GM Fuzzfoot |

Anyone else in the initial valley? Mouser has no trouble getting close...

Tamxander Glenfarrow |

"Hmm. Firbolg and ogres. Right."
Tam wiggles his fingers and throws down a rainbow pattern to hypnotize the ogres.
I believe that's Will save DC 21!

Will Save: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22
Will Save: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
Three of the four ogre barbarians are immediately fascinated, but one manages to shake it off.
Somer targets the hunchback (I assume). Will Save: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20
Balmir: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19

Ogres: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (20) - 1 = 19
3 are fascinated - if they take damage from the Holy Smite, it will likely free them. Toboyn - do you want to adjust your cast? And Mouser, take a std action. Once you two have resolved, we will begin the full round 1 (starting with Mouser).

Yes, I do.
Toboyn notices Tamxander casting, and reconsiders ... he's been relying on smiting a bit much lately; perhaps something more ... nuanced. He turns to Balmir. "It's dangerous to go alone. Take this," he says, casting heroism upon the dwarf.

Toboyn ponders the group they're attacking. Something about that creature in the center; sickly and weak, yet in command. He decides to take a chance that his strengths aren't, well, strength, and casts against a caster.
Silence, cast on the hunchback. DC 17 Will negates.

Balmir |

"Ok now. Looks like we're not hiding no more so it's my turn." Balmir moves directly towards the closest giant while pulling Agrimmosh into his hand.
Double move

GM Fuzzfoot |

I know Mouser is swamped, but lets give him a bit to respond.
Will Save: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22 Good guess on hunchback, but she seems to have saved.

![]() |

With Balmir taking the lead, Mouser follows after him, reaching the giant in one quick sprint.

GM Fuzzfoot |

With 3 of the ogres still fascinated, the 4th swings at Balmir, but missing by a mile.
Greatclub Attack: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (7) + 11 = 18
Tam, you're up!

GM Fuzzfoot |

The hunchback pulls out an egg and crushes it in her hand, clearly good and rotten. Suddenly, and noxious fog rolls in over Tam, Toboyn and Somer.
Stinking cloud - fort saves from each of you or become nauseated. This condition lasts as long as the creature is in the cloud and for 1d4+1 rounds after it leaves.Tam, you will need to make a concentration check if you fail your save.

GM Fuzzfoot |

Mouser kills his target, leaving an opening for Balmir to move up to the hunchback.
Fort Save: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (5) + 11 = 16
Balmir hits the spellcaster hard, hearing bones crack and watching as she shrinks in size to no much more than a mere human.
Toboyn follows up with a blast of light, which does enough damage to finish the job.
The three fascinated ogres still do nothing.

Balmir |

Considering where I was positioned, it will take me a double move to get close enough to attack purple.
Balmir grins as the giant falls. Then he moves immediately to one of the fascinated ones.

Somer Hiondu |

Fort: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
Somer thinks little of the egg until he finds himself retching and spilling the contents of his stomach.

Toboyn |

Toboyn looks over at the melee; Balmir and Mouser seem to have things well in hand; he decides to observe. He glances at his companions ... worship has given him a stronger stomach, he supposes. "It's not so bad, really, when you get used to it. Puts me to mind of the pickled egg dish Omarka Yam serves at 'The Yacht'. Care for some ale to take the edge off?", he asks, rummaging through his pack.

GM Fuzzfoot |

Toboyn, since you didn't leave the cloud, you will need to make a new Fort save. Also, you can't see the combatants, because you are in a stinking cloud.

Toboyn |

fortitude save: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21
"I'll admit, the view does leave something to be desired, though," Toboyn continues, walking out of the cloud.
Oops, stinking *and* a cloud ... right.

Before the giants can shake off the spell effect, Mouser moves opposite Balmir.

Somer Hiondu |

Fort: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26
Somer manages to gag less and stumbles out of the cloud.
So I am still nauseated for 1d4+1?

GM Fuzzfoot |

I think so - it is a little unclear in the spell description. The way I read it, if you save and remain in the cloud, you have to keep saving. Once you fail, I think you're just sick, in or out of the cloud. So you probably didn't need another save here... if you would like, I will be generous and let you use that 20 on your next action...

Balmir |

Balmir wastes no time in striking at the next giant.

GM Fuzzfoot |

It would have hit, but you killed it off with the first blow. Purple falls to the ground dead.
The others, finally free from the fascination, are not so fascinated with the scene before them. The turn tail and run.
Do you let them go, or give chase?

Balmir |

"Not so fast!" Balmir shouts and begins to chase after the slowest giant. "Stay here and face my wrath and your judgement!"
Do I catch up to any of them?

Toboyn |

"Can't have these two running off to warn their fellows", thinks Toboyn. And in any case, Balmir seems determined. He decides to take a shot.
Holy Smite: 4d8 ⇒ (1, 8, 8, 5) = 22

![]() |

"Bah--let them run!" Mouser says. "We won't kill both of them anyway, and it only takes one to sound the alarm," he adds.

Somer Hiondu |

As they turn to run Somer tries to slow them with glitterdust.
I can get all three. DC16 Will save or blinded.
