As Ana returns to her room, she pulls out Rodrick's hopeknife. He was poisoned, yet slashed. Our symbol of hope has turned into a symbol of murder. I will not forgive the one who would do such a thing.

Putting away the knife once again, Ana heads to bed.

But something...felt off. I hope those guys are okay. Not only has there been a murder, concealed to look like a suicide, but someone tried to stop us from looking into this. Why they didn't listen to my idea to stick together is beyond me. Oh, wait...it came from a halfling. Of course it's a bad idea! Pfft.

Mouser takes all precautions on the way home to make sure he is not followed, sticking to the shadows, switching back and taking different routes, and even climbing across a roof at one point. Even when he gets home, he places his pillows to look like he is sleeping, then sleeps outside in a tree.

One can't be too careful. This is getting...weird.

"I came to this town to learn about them, I just apparently showed up during the wrong week. The are scattered all over the city, Somer went home with Tamxander. Balmir to the barracks. Ana to her own home with her mother, the mayor I think and Mouser to his uncles house. I guess it is just best to lay back down."

Once people leave Derrik will rest with his back against the door.

Balmir shouts again for his comrades to come to his aid. "Help! Anyone! I'm being attacked in here!" His loud voice reverberates through his small room and he hopes it carries down the hall. Nearly passing out from the pain, he repositions his shield to provide the most protection possible while at the same time scooting just a few inches more under his bed, hoping that it will provide more cover.

Balmir sees three men rush in with crossbows, as he watches the crystaline blade crash down on his head. Everything goes black.

An unknown amount of time later, he awakes to find one of his barracks mates pouring a liquid down his throat.

"Rest easy, friend dwarf. You are out of danger now."

Laying next to him is the assassin, pincushioned with bolts. The other men help restore Balmir to full health, as one of them searches the woman. He spits in disgust, as he says "Freedom Town scrum."

Meanwhile, back at Somerhome, Somer dispatches the fighting assassin easily. There is still one unconscious on the floor, however.

Somer hovers the tip of his blade over the unconscious mans eye.

"Tamxnder, there are questions to be asked but we are both injured I feel I must end this."

With that he attempts to thrust his rapier into his unconscious assailants brain though his eye.

Coup De Grace auto Crit for max.

Max Damage 13 + saving though if it doesn't kill outright.

"I hope the others are ok. Clearly they should have come with us.

Mouser yawns and stretches as dawn finds him in his perch in a large tree.

He hadn't slept incredibly well given all that had happened that day. Something is not right...

Still, he had taken all the necessary precautions, and hoped his fellow investigators had fared as well. Maybe once we solve this, I can get out of the militia...this was all a really bad idea.

Climbing down from the tree, he checks to make sure all his gear is in place. His small but sharp rapier at his side. His hope knife and another dagger, both hidden cleverly in spring-loaded wrist sheathes. A few vials of acid.

Oh, caltrops! I should have put those around my bed!

Upset he hadn't thought of this last night, Mouser walks over to the window of his room and peeks in to make sure everything looks okay.

I should get over to the inn and see how everyone else slept.

As it is unlikely you can all regroup before morning, I will assume you took further precautions to try and get enough rest to recharge for the next day.

Each of the assassins had a potion of cure light wounds, antitoxin, smokestick, leather armor, light crossbow with 10 bolts, short sword, thieves’ tools, beryl worth 50 gp, 4 gp.

If anyone wants to claim something, do so. Otherwise, I will keep a spreadsheet of party treasure for you. If you want to sell something, the 1/2 price rule applies in general. You should sell what you don't want to carry around.

The next morning, you meet back up.

Did Mouser see anything with the pillow halfling he put in his bed, or anything else wrong with his house?
