Alia Charybdis
|
Alia spins about at Pizzmic's command, raising her shield and gripping the familiar heft of her scimitar, alert to any attacks from her quarter.
Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Or so she thinks.
Wuliem BrokenCrown
|
Wuliem quickly reaches into his coat pocket (one of them),
pulling out a vial of greenish liquid.
I have the perfect solution to this sticky
problem, but I will need all those closest to the spider to
back away from its position!
Wuliem has a look of...gleeful anticipation on his
normally nervous face!
Ralklain Kiessen
|
What a tight spot!
Exitium acts before the spider and has a chance to attack! You see him passing very close to Ralklain and tries to move slowly below the giant spider (L25,L26,L27):
Acrobatics check to more through: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
Sorry Wuliem i can move only after the spider, but don't worry i've got this. And now the spider....
Pizzmic
|
I assume wuliem wants to throw some bombs? Idk if its a feat but I know there is away alchiemists can protect squares from the splash damage.but I have only ever played with them in higher lvl games so idk when they get that ability. But wuliem once we get a couple lvls and you get more feats you will quickly be a damage monster
| GM FurtiveZoog |
Exitium's strength check vs. webs: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Exitium can't readily move through L25, since it is on fire, and the acrobatics check to get past the spider (especially when hampered by webs in L26) fails, provoking an AoO. Then Exitium gets mired in the webs in L26.
Spider AoO: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 161d6 ⇒ 1
Exitium's poison save: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18
Exitium attempts to evade the spider but fails, incurring only a small nip and, fortunately, the nip was small and Exitium is unaffected beyond a sting by the spider's poison.
1 damage
It would be my understanding that Exitium could still attack the spider from that space. That is an automatic hit, and good enough to hit without flanking, anyway.
Exitium's critical confimation: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11 Crit not confirmed.
Exitium shows the spider how to bite back! 7 damage
More in a bit.
Ralklain Kiessen

Exitium can't readily move through L25, since it is on fire...
You mean my square is on fire?
Spider's turn, btw| GM FurtiveZoog |
Sorry Ralklain, I meant K25 is on fire, not L25, sorry. I got you there but, since the spider was already on the ground, I had Exitium go around it rather than through its square.
Yeah, I knew it was the spider's turn, but didn't have time to compose this rather long post at that time.
Wuliem's fear was, of course, prescient: Around the corner from behind comes a hissing voice, angry and slavering, saying, "Friends! Pathfinders! I've come tooo hellllp youuuu!"
You recognize the ghoul Maurit coming running towards you. You can't tell whether her words are a bad bluff, or in mockery, or an echo, or some remnant of sincerity, but you can tell the ghoul is fully in control now with fangs and claws bared.
Pizzmic has his shot ready and fires... A readied action.
Light crossbow: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 151d6 ⇒ 3
It would normally miss, but I would think that, since Maurit hasn't acted in combat yet, she would be considered flat-footed (controversial...).
There would also normally be a penalty for soft cover because of Alia, but I would think you would be able to space yourself and line up a clear shot out of combat.
So, hit for 3 damage.
Also considering Alia's scimitar strike a readied action for when the monster is close enough.
Alia, I'm a little confused - is your scimitar finessable? I think it is one-handed but not light. I'm also not sure about the +2. Maybe take a look at it then PM me. I'll use it for now.
Scimitar +2/1d8/18-20/x2: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 211d8 ⇒ 1
Confirm crit: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7 No confirmed crit
Alia is ready with her scimitar for the onrushing ghoul, and manages to hit its throat, but only for a nick, missing a more critical blow.
Maurit's bite: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 221d4 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Alia's Fort Save (Paralysis) DC 13: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Alia's Fort Save (Ghoul Fever) DC 13: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14
Paralysis, rounds: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Maurit bites Alia, sinking her festering teeth into Alia's sword arm and instantly her muscles all freeze up and she is helpless, perhaps getting out a final scream that fades away.
3 damage, paralyzed for 4 rounds.
~~
In another room, seemingly a world away, the spider tries again to find a fleshy part of Ralklain.
Spider bite and damage: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 121d6 ⇒ 1
It misses badly, seemingly still recovering from its grievous tiger bite.
~~
The map is updated.
Sunic, Ralklain, Wuliem - you're up!
~~
Totals: 4 damage to Maurit; 7 to the spider
Alia Charybdis

Ugh, your right: scimitars are not Weapon Finesse-able. I missed that because I planned to take Dervish Dance which names Weapon Finesse as a prerequisite. My bad! In this case, her attack with that weapon would be +0. I'll amend my character sheet and info tonight, when I get home.
On thinking on this, here's what I could do: humans are slotted with two feats at start. Instead of taking Selective Channeling and Weapon Finesse, I could substitute the Selective Channeling for Dervish Dance.
Wuliem BrokenCrown

Precise Bombs is a Discovery,
but it will not be my first one next level...
Wuliem has feral plans!
Wuliem seems to be as paralyzed as Alia!
He lifts his arm to throw his bomb at the Ghoul,
but stops as he realizes the consequences to Alia!
Frustrated his reaches into his coat pocket,
pulling out another vial.
Wuliem BrokenCrown
|
Wuliem suddenly grins!
Anyone up ahead! Can some one reach those Kobolds
and sever a limb from one and toss it back to me?
I think that I may be able to distract the Ghoul
He begins to rummage through his many pockets,
replacing the vials with a knife.
Wuliem moves toward the closet Kobold (L22).
He then begins to sever a limb!
knife: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 171d3 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Wuliem is an Internal Alchemist with Trained Medic trait and a Heal skill so...he knows where to cut?....Surgical Baby!
Heal: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16
Wuliem BrokenCrown
|
Like the 1/2 Orc Alchemist that he is!
Perhaps brace it with his quarterstaff for stability?
Using that Int 16!
Or He could get really creative by imbibing his extract of Stone Fist: This spell transforms your hands into living stone. While this spell is in effect, your unarmed strikes do not provoke attacks of opportunity and deal 1d6 points of lethal bludgeoning damage (1d4 if you are Small). In addition, your unarmed strikes ignore the hardness of any object with a hardness less than 8.
Pizzmic

as Maurit turns the corner, My intuition be damned!, i knew listening to Ralklian and letting this beast escape would only prove to be a mistake.
as Pizzmic's arrow hits true MAURIT HAS RETURNED BUT SEEMS TO HAVE SUCCUMBED TO THE FEVER
upon Pizzmic's next action he will drop his crossbow(free action) which will fall ever so abruptly across his chest, he will cast daze [will save 14} on Maurit (standard action)
we need to stop Maurit from attacking Alia next round she could coup de grace on Alia and that's not cool....and because alia is paralyzed i believe Maurit can move through her square
Pizzmic Screams at Maurit understanding the danger Alia is in and attempts to taunt her away OVER HERE MAURIT YOU DULL BEAST! YOUR BETRAYER AWAITS!
This is usually a house ruled for most games but to taunt a character in combat it is either bluff or intimidate but def DM discretion intimidate: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12orbluff: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (5) + 10 = 15
Pizzmic will then retreat to L24 Hoping the mighty Sunic will interrupt Maurit should she follow (move action)
Sunic Mitsarugy
|
Sunic looks from the spider to the hindered Alia, Guh.... can you move Holy Gal?, or do I need to move you? he judges the distant with a focused eye,if I move her can you handle our friend? as he mentions the strategy he freezes a little remembering who she was, he waits for the reply, ready to act.
I could move her with grapple, then leave an opening for Wuliem?
Sunic makes a mad dash toM21 Alia attempting to grapple her and move herM22, or somehow get between her and maurit.
Pizzmic
|
sunic I did some decent research and I think I know what you can do. First declare a bull rush as a standard action (you could of charaged but alia being in the way doesn't allow thaf in the rules) take a movement through the squares making your opposed combat maneuver checks if successful. By five or more you will push the ghoul back 5ft. If you fail I imagine you would be pushed behind alia and then only compound the issue. Its an idea but idk how good of one
| GM FurtiveZoog |
Here are the rules on Paralyzed and its effects on the movement of others.
Pizzmic's spell appears to have no effect on Maurit, and the creature doesn't even so much as shrug it off. What was it that that pompous Major said about fighting undead...?
Sunic repositions Alia behind him, where she falls prone. We'll just call it an automatic success.
Ralklain, did you act?
Exitium, (Alia), and Narvik are up next.
Pizzmic

I would like to to look into that ruling a little matt. Daze says its affects any humanoid 4 or less hit dice with no other written restrictions. Most of my spells like hypnotize, sleep, charm person say the target has to be living to fill the requirements. Imo that would that would mean daze would have to specify to had to be a living humanoid to not work. There are several mind altering affects like I believe would affect undead like bungle and confusion potentially. Look up the spells and and see what I'm saying and make or confirm your ruling. I just don't think that undwad are completely immune to all the effects. Albeit harder to affect them potnetial
Narvik Drak
|
Narvik will move up a 5' space to M25 and then try to crush the spider with his morningstar, unawares of the activity behind him until Pizzmac screams out. Keep back from that creature! Fight it at range if you can!
Attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15
Damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9
| GM FurtiveZoog |
Sure. Here's "Undead Traits (Ex) Undead are immune to death effects, disease, mind-affecting effects (charms, compulsions, morale effects, phantasms, and patterns), paralysis, poison, sleep, stun, and any effect that requires a Fortitude save (unless the effect also works on objects or is harmless). Undead are not subject to ability drain, energy drain, or nonlethal damage. Undead are immune to damage or penalties to their physical ability scores (Strength, Dexterity, and Constitution), as well as to fatigue and exhaustion effects. Undead are not at risk of death from massive damage."
Then, from Daze, "School enchantment (compulsion) [mind-affecting]". Mind-affecting and compulsion are immune to right out. If pressed, Daze is kind of like a lesser Stun, to which they are also immune. But really, the mind-affecting conditions are what I would rule by.
Pizzmic

ok cool, I now know what's up. I wonder why it specifies living but no matter I'm glad I didn't go waste one of my lvl 1 spells lol thanks for the ample clarify
Ralklain Kiessen
|
Ralklain's first round:
I can't help them at the moment.
Ralklain takes a 5-foot-step to L24 and throws a Acid Splash on the giant spider:
Ranged Touch Attack: 1d20 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 2 + 1 = 181d3 ⇒ 3
Is that thing dead?
| GM FurtiveZoog |
Nope! Damage is now 10 points total
BTW, although you still hit, it is a ranged touch attack against an opponent in melee, so there is a -4 penalty to your attack roll, just as if you fired a bow. It sucks, I know.
Unfortunately, Pizzmic entered into L24 before you...but since that was out of order, I'll move you there and Pizzmic into L23.
Exitium and Narvik are up.
Sunic Mitsarugy
|
Sunic attempts to move alia with him away from the doorway, with grapple or simply pushing
Let's go.... He grunts aloud
I would like to push her back to L21 and i'd like to end at M21 if that works as him out of the way, upon my turn
Ralklain Kiessen

Power Bite: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 131d6 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
Power Claw: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 201d4 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
Power Claw: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 81d4 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
| GM FurtiveZoog |
Narvik moves forward, swinging his morningstar in a great arc, bringing all of its momentum down on the spider, knocking it flat, its legs barely twitching as it black ichor slowly pumps out.
Sunic, I believe you have already gone this round, moving Alia for the first time. Ralklain was a bit out of order.
Sorry again, Ralklain. Since the spider is now dead that I've processed Narvik's Round 2 attack (technically, after your acid splash), so you can redirect Exitium's attacks. The way is blocked by Sunic, but you could either delay or, probably better, bull rush the ghoul.
Ralklain Kiessen
|
NP!
Help them Exitium! Flank and destroy that thing!
That was a nice hit Narvik! In anyone capable of extinguishing fire?
| GM FurtiveZoog |
Exitium's acrobatics: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
Maurit's AoO, a bite: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 211d6 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Exitium's paralysis save & disease save: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 171d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Exitium tries to dodge past, and is very nimble, but Maurit is trained and vicious and bites at the onrushing fantastical tiger, biting it and driving it back.
The acrobatics check failed, ending the movement and provoking the AoO, which hits and does 3 damage. I have Exitium now occupying the same space as the prone Alia. Exitium is not paralyzed but does contract ghoul fever. I have no idea what that means for an Eidolon, though. Probably nothing. Have to read up on that...
Maurit now turns her attention to the tasty-looking monk.
Maurit's bite: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 111d6 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
Maurit's claw 1: 1d20 + 4 - 5 ⇒ (17) + 4 - 5 = 161d4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Maurit's claw 2: 1d20 + 4 - 5 ⇒ (12) + 4 - 5 = 111d4 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
One claw sweeps unnervingly close to Sunic's face, but the deft monk remains unscathed.
Sunic, Ralklain, Wuliem, you're up!
Alia has 3 turns of paralysis left.
Ralklain Kiessen
|
Now i'm mad! Kill this #*&¨# Sunic! That's my last spell.
You see Ralklain moving to M22 and casting Mage Armor at Sunic!
You now have +4 to armor class (1 hour)
Pizzmic

Pizzmic slighty embrassed that he wasted time casted daze against a target who was obvious immune to the effects, decides to reload his crossbow and casts detect magic to see if there is any other magical auras in the room other than the webs
Wuliem BrokenCrown

I will be at work, so if you need my rolls...
bomb touch attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 81d6 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
also if Sunic isn't out of splash radius,
then Wuliem will throw the bomb behind the Ghoul,
causing 5 points splash damage to her!
Ac 5 to hit an unoccupied square
Sunic Mitsarugy
|
Sunic attempts to acrobatics over Maurit to get onto the otherside of her.
Acrobatics: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18
sorry my net is down til tomorrow. :( I want to advoid the splash and be able to take her on if she doesn't die from it
| GM FurtiveZoog |
I'll let Sunic go first.
Sunic acrobatically vaults past the ghoul, landing behind her.
She is undead, so stunning fist wouldn't work. I'll let you learn from Pizzmic's mistake - "No stunning" (although that was technically "No mind-affecting"). So, a plain fist attack.
No flanking bonus, though, since Exitium, while directly opposite you, is not threatening the ghoul's square.
Fist strike: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 221d6 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10 Wow!
PS-Either way it would have worked, but do recheck your Str/character stats when you have the internet back up.
Sunic lands a powerful strike right to Maurit's back!
Wuliem, I moved you to L21 since L22 would have partial cover against the thing.
I'll have you throw it at the ghoul, since you will be doing splash damage either to Sunic or to Exitium and Alia.
Unfortunately, it is a miss (even at an AC 5 square), especially with it being a ranged attack with soft cover and firing into melee.
Miss direction: 1d8 ⇒ 1 Crud...
Hmmm... Well, since you didn't realize it was going to be splash damage (4 pts.) to someone no matter where you threw it and whether it hit or not, I'll risk the PFS GMing god's disfavor and let you do something else, avoiding inevitable disaster.
Pizzmic
|
idk who is next to act but from my position and remaining spells there isn't a whole lot pizzmic can really do. I have an aoe spell and potentially a decent spell to affect the kobolts. But in this fight I have a range weapon that ill prob. Hit a friendly target with all the negatives I'd be taking, mind effects that don't work and aoe damage that would harm the group as much as maurit. Low lvl casters are a little hard to play lol
Wuliem BrokenCrown
|
Wuliem has a frustrated--and disappointed-- look on his face.
He lifts the severed Kobold limb and chucks it at the Ghoul!
throw limb: 1d20 + 2 - 4 - 4 ⇒ (16) + 2 - 4 - 4 = 10
I included the penalties from both 'shooting into melee' and 'improvised weapon', although now that I am doing it,
I think that I may re-think my decision to go Internal Alchemist, which gives up the Throw Anything feat!...lol!...figures!
| GM FurtiveZoog |
The flaming arm flies by Maurit, making a point if not a hit.
Yes, low-level casters are hard, and anyone but a ranged specialist doesn't really have much of a chance to use their bow or whatever :\. It is nice if you have a mini-buff like Guidance that you can at least keep tapping people on the shoulder with. Going with Clerics and selective channeling means a lot of good combat healing, at least.

Power Attack Flanking Bite: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 121d6 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10

Power Attack Flanking Claw: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 111d4 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
It is his turn, is it not?
