GM FurtiveZoog |

The acid splash sputters harmless into the ground about 5' ahead of Sunic, not having the range to reach the webs from Ralklain's location.
Exitium moves slightly into the larger room:
The large room is dank, and a strange draft flows through it carrying with it a foul odor. Rubble is strewn here and there. A strange, slimy slick glistens down the western wall. Near the slick is a wooden door. The only sound in this room is a faint drip echoing from deeper in the dungeon.
The dungeon’s walls, here and in the hallway, were once plastered and painted, featuring the occasional section of mosaic tiles. Some tiles served as borders, and other made designs, while a few depict scenes of life back when this place was the base of a would-be conqueror of Absalom.
The room is otherwise empty except for the large pile of rubble, mostly of stone but with some wood.

Pizzmic watching Narvik cast light on his morning star looks around the floor for stick or some sort of hand-sized debris and asks Narvik Narvik i don't mean to be a bother but could you do that for me also? what wizard doesn't prepare light before going into a dungeon?.....this guy that's who! i think we already turned right. the doorway appeared after we moved

GM FurtiveZoog |

![]() |

I wish I could but I can only concentrate one source at a time.
I wasn't quite sure if we had turned already or not, couldn't really tell. Its another reason I elected to use light myself.

![]() |

oh please if it is meant to burn webs do such and ill carry it afterward if you do not need it this group is quite welcoming i hope our paths in the society allow us to work together for a while longer

![]() |

Check my pack, Pizzmic, the pocket on your left as you face it...should be a few sunrods, in there. Alia spins about and take a knee.
Perhaps we should explore this chamber completely, before we move on. Just to be sure.
Alia eyes the dark recesses of the ceilings.
Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17

![]() |

Wuliem smiles and nods his head at the Gnome.
As you wish, good Sir.
He points toward the webs in the right-hand corridor.
Are we going that way, or are we exploring the larger
area on the left with Cat?

![]() |

Sunic inspects the door a little worried, wish we had one of those nifty rogues around. He laughs nervously inspecting the door to the best of his ability.Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17.
He grasps the door handle opening it at an angle standing at N21 for partial cover. Enough waiting! lets do this! he cheers to try to build morale.
He loves up forward N21 and looks back to the group explaining his findings.

![]() |

Ah thank you Alia, very kind of you indeed Pizzmic will rummage through the pack like instructed and will strike a sunrod to the ground, the rod's chemicals mix and burst into emitting a bright light for 30ft, Pizmmic continues onward with the sunrod half sticking out of his shirt pocket while still holding his loaded crossbow preception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9 looking for any valuables, threatening devices or creatures lurking in the dark. Pizzmic hears what the monk has to say and speaks up to offer assuring wordsah yes a skilled rogue could be quite useful but I believe the venture captain hand picked this band of pathfinders for a very specific reason, when the time comes I believe our abilities will meld together nicely

![]() |

Wuliem eyes the sunrod, while setting his torch on the ground.
He begins making notes in his journal.
Yes, of course, just the correct amount of that, mixed in with some, yes yes. Shouldn't be a problem to craft those!

GM FurtiveZoog |

Alia doesn't see anything in the hallway's ceilings, which are now well illuminated.
Sunic can see just inside the door, because he doesn't have a light and the light from Pizzmic's sunrod doesn't illuminate around the corner very well.
At least nothing bad jumps out at him from the darkness...
The GM has Pizzmic illuminate the room with his sunrod and they go in:
Three rounded alcoves in this chamber contain the rotting remains of scroll shelves, honeycombing from floor to ceiling. Scattered amid the compromised shelving are damaged scrolls, and a number of still-sealed scroll tubes. A glimmering trickle of water seeps down from the ceiling in the northwest corner of the room.
Directly ahead of Sunic is a large pile of rubble from what appears to be a collapsed wall (or partial wall), leading into an adjoining room to the west.

![]() |

This area is left for later Wuliem, but please don't refer to Exitium as "cat". He doesn't like it. I'm just covering our back, but i think if we're getting into the door i should cover the web area. Something could pop up if the door is noisy.
Exitium moves do N21, IF there are no webs on it. Ralklain moves to Q21.

![]() |

Pizzmic looks cautiously around the room perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12 eagerly wanting to inspect the different scrolls and sealed scroll tubes looking again for any trade agreements or potential spells. i wonder if any these scrolls are of any use, maybe some long forgotten trade agreements perhaps?...... was i the only one that found it strange that so many people knew of our mission before we did? I find that slightly unsettling

GM FurtiveZoog |

The webs, as far as you can see, do not appear to start until the space L21, where the 'Light' stone hangs suspended. Of course, the rooms seem to be higher than the hallways, so it is hard to tell from the hallway.
Exitium is able to see that the ceiling, beyond about 10 or 15 feet, appears to be heavily webbed over, such that it isn't visible.

![]() |

I'm definitely having the same thoughts. Lets take a look at those documents once we've cleared the chamber. As far as everyone knowing our tasking, especially one that the captain would likely want kept quiet, well, that didn't seem right. But now that we know that there was another group that was sent in and was unsuccessful, it isn't hard to surmise how word probably got out...

GM FurtiveZoog |

The alcove chamber seems clear.
Do you all want to move in, except perhaps whomever is guarding your rear? Is there an order for going in and searching the adjoining room?
From where you are, the adjoining, seemingly larger room looks like it was once a scribing chamber. From what you can see, the broken, decayed remains of many desks and stools are scattered about, and there are some scraps of paper and the what might be the broken glass of inkwells. Most things are covered with black mold and patches of light green mushrooms.

![]() |

Yes, we might as well see if those agreements are here. We may find other useful items also, hard to say with all this rubble about.
Narvik will cast Detect Magic while searching the area.
Perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18

![]() |

Is that a passageway? I'll guard it while you take (20) all the time you need looking at those documents.
I'll draw my crossbow and cast Light on the armed bolt. Exitium will stealthily move to N17 and me to O17, looking at the corner once we get there
Exitium's stealth: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
Exitium`s Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
My perception: 1d20 ⇒ 8
Since Sunic is at the rear i`ll take the lead on this chamber and see where it goes. Who's after me?

![]() |

Wuliem looks wistfully at all the scrolls,
but nods in agreement with Ralklain.
My apologies Ralklain. I did not mean to offend.
He picks up his torch, after putting his journal and such back into one of his many pockets.
I believe that we could explore this room first prior to
disturbing the web corridor?
Wuliem will stay near Ralklain, but closer to the others.

GM FurtiveZoog |

Sorry for the mass of information!
Narvik detects nothing magical in the alcove room...
I moved the people who were talking about the scrolls/trade agreements into the room in front of the alcoves and everyone else up a bit. Everyone else is moving/going to move as this happens:
Alia's Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12
Sunic's Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24
Sunic hears a subtle scraping, as of small claws on flagstone, and is not caught completely unawares.
Already rolled:
Pizzmic's Perception: 12
Narvik's Perception: 18
As Narvik scans the room, there is nothing he sees as magical, but suddenly there is a blinding flash of light from something rapidly approaching from the adjoining room!
The creature is a pale and crusty froglike humanoid. It trembles and twitches as it lurches forward and attacks. Its skin is patchy and dry, like a squid left out in the sun and sand. Its bulbous eyes open, and light stabs out from them.
The creature leaps on Pizzmic, attacking him with teeth and claws!
(*Ignore this: I did it at the wrong time - luckily for Pizzmic! - but can't remove it or it will mess up other rolls.
*Pizzmic's Fort save: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11)
Against your Flat-Footed AC:
bite: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 101d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
The creature's bite narrowly misses Pizzmic's head, snapping a chuck out of his hat, ...
claw 1: 1d20 + 5 - 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 - 5 = 141d3 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
claw 2: 1d20 + 5 - 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 - 5 = 191d3 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
But two vicious claws each strike home, rending the poor gnome for horrific damage!
Surprise round:
Sunic's Initiative: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
The creature's Initiative: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17
Future rounds:
Alia's Initiative: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Exitium's Initiative: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9
Narvik's Initiative: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 1 = 8
Pizzmic's Initiative: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18
Ralklain's Initiative: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16
Wuliem's Initiative: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
"Each opponent within range of a gaze attack must attempt a saving throw each round at the beginning of his or her turn in the initiative order."
It goes about 30', so the whole room and to the space out the door.
Fortitude Save DC 13:
So the order is:
Surprise round: Sunic - make your save roll, then you can act.
Next round: (Remember to make your save roll at the beginning of your turn. You can then try closing or averting your eyes.)
Block 1) Pizzmic,
Block 2) the Creature,
Block 3) Ralklain, Exitium, Narvik, Sunic, Alia, Wuliem

GM FurtiveZoog |

The creature is a "Blindheim," a magical beast. "Blindheims are grotesque, frog-like creatures that dwell beneath the surface, subsisting on meals of fungi, rodents, and other underground creatures. They live in the darkest, dampest regions of cavernous sprawls, particularly enjoying underground bogs, lakes, rivers, and swamps." They have animal intelligence and do not speak a language. You already know about the eyes...

![]() |

Pizzmic shrieks in pain as the creature lashes out with both claws. fortitude: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13 pizzmic adverts his eyes and reaches out with his dazing touch attack as his standard action dazing touch: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 1 = 21 realizing he is greatly hurt moves directly away from the creature taking a 5ft step away to Q16 as a fast/immediate action, during his movement pizzmic will retreat through alia and narvik square ending his turn in p19

![]() |

Fortitude: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19
Narvik was able to avert his eyes in time as the flash of light emits from this strange creature.
Upon my turn in the round I will cast Cure Light Wounds on Pizzmic. I'll wait until the creature takes his turn before determining other actions.
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

![]() |

fort: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9
what a wake up call!...lol!
knowledge arcana: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8
Wuliem looks at the beast, realizing that he doesn't recognize this beast as the light blinds him!
Oh my! I wouldn't look directly at the light!
I have been blinded!

![]() |

Fortitude Save: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
The gaze of the creature catches Alia completely by surprise, and her vision darkens completely.
I can't see, she shouts, her mind racing. Stay calm. The others will rush in, so stay still and do not move so you do not impede them. Remember your training!
Alia casts Bless.

GM FurtiveZoog |

Although the spell touch attack doesn't incur an AoO, casting the spell still does. Fortunately, Daze is a Close range spell, not a Touch range spell, so I moved you the 5' step first and then cast the spell.
Pizzmic shouts something and waves his hand at the frog-creature and ...
Frog Creatures's Will Save: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
suddenly the creature seems Dazed, momentarily unable to press its attack!
Unfortunately, you can only Daze a creature once per minute.
Since Cure Light Wounds is a Touch spell, Narvik, I am not sure where to move you.
That went worse than expected... You could probably flee, at least for now, closing the door behind you, although moving while blinded is at half speed.
Sunic, you can still do something while blinded, as can the others now that the creature misses its turn.

GM FurtiveZoog |

I'll move Exitium as close to N21 as I can in one move, since that is where it was going before.
Averting its eyes: 1d2 ⇒ 2
Exitium doesn't have to make a save attack this turn...
Concealment: 1d100 ⇒ 10
...but Exitium's bite misses due to concealment.
Concealment: 1d100 ⇒ 97
Claw 1: 1d20 + 3 - 5 ⇒ (9) + 3 - 5 = 71d4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Concealment: 1d100 ⇒ 80
Claw 2: 1d20 + 3 - 5 ⇒ (14) + 3 - 5 = 121d4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
And both claws miss, unable to catch the fast, little creature!
Still might save the party, though.

![]() |

Wuliem reaches into his pockets,
searching for something that may help this situation!
I am not quite sure as to what I could do to help!
I have a few...items,
but throwing blind will probably be a worst fate!

![]() |

Thanks for throwing dice for me, i was late ^^. Claws are primary attacks, so they don't incur in the -5 penalty. Does one hit?

![]() |

What the heck is that?? Stay calm everyone, Exitium has got it!
After hearing some of his comrades complaining about being blind and after seeing the strong light source from inside, Ralklain stays where he is and casts self Guidance, waiting for his eyes to adjust to the strong light source.
Exitium will keep avoiding his gaze. I'll post after the creature's turn.

GM FurtiveZoog |

Oops, are they all primary attacks? Normally, in a bite-claw-claw situation, one becomes primary (the bite) and the other two become secondary (the claws), taking a -5 each, unless you take Multiattack, in which is gained at 9th level...
But, then in the Claws evolution it does specifically call them Primary and says "Natural attacks listed as primary are made using the eidolon's full base attack bonus and add the eidolon's Strength modifier on damage rolls." So, it seems you are right! Probably! (Fortunately, I am applying the -5's to the frog-creature's claws, and would have for Maurit's, but they are different.)
One claw still misses but the other just manages to connect, slashing across the creature's emaciated form. 5 damage

![]() |

Oops, are they all primary attacks? Normally, in a bite-claw-claw situation, one becomes primary (the bite) and the other two become secondary (the claws), taking a -5 each, unless you take Multiattack, in which is gained at 9th level...
Well, multiattack does apply to secondary attacks, but claws are primary. An Eidolon, although it resembles an animal, it is not. And besides, the secondary attacks cause a lot more damage, thus they are secondary. I've read that in many places, but please feel free to confirm it and tell me if i'm doing it wrong. Eidolon are weird, they may have claws at their feet and use it as primary claws, although i will not do that with mine, since i find it to be ilogical.

GM FurtiveZoog |

Ralklain, you weren't late so much as I was eager for some good news, lol. I also think you are right about the attacks - I just wish they were more consistent about which are primary and secondary attacks. BTW, the back leg attacks could possibly be justified as raking attacks, like cats do.
The creature was dazed by Pizzmic and lost its turn.
Remember, if you are blinded (or closing your eyes), you still have your actions. You can attack, but with a 50% miss chance for total concealment (see rules on Blinded).
So, if you haven't acted yet, you can do so, starting with Sunic.
In my game, we pummeled the thing in a half circle, blinded.

![]() |

Just to clarify correct me if im wrong
the blindhelm attacked pizzmic in the surprise round, Sunic failed his fort. save
*new round begins*
18 Pizzmic took a 5ft step and casted his daze ability
17 blindhelm failed will save and was unable to act
16 Ralklain casts self guidance, exitium advert his eyes and attacks for 5 damage
8 Narvik(imagine can change his action being that pizzmic couldn't move more than a 5ft step)
5 Alia is blinded and opted to delay?
5 Wuliem is blinded and opted to delay?
Alia and Wuliem have the option to act before the new round begins,On Pizzmic's activation he keeps his eyes adverted in case i need to roll againfort.save: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10 and casts bungle on the blindhelm(will save dc 15, if failed it has -20 on its next attack roll or check) and then pizzmic will move to P19.
In a strained voice pizzmic utters while moving towards Narvik hunched in agonizing pain . Narvik I'm losing alot of blood.... please help me!

![]() |

I was under the assumption that Pizzy had move to the spot he stated, which was right next to me. I will move to P16 so I can touch him with the spell, unless I can do so in Aria's square as I move through (or somehow coax her to move back as she was blinded).

![]() |

My bad: I did post that I cast Bless, but I really should also note it's effects. I will endeavor to do so in the future! In the meantime...
A warm radiance seems to fill your heart as Alia's Bless spell takes effect.
All allies in a 50' burst of Alia take a +1 morale bonus on all attack rolls and saving throws vs fear effects.
Blinded, but not daunted, she steps towards the creature, grim purpose in her her resolve. Her scimitar flashes brightly towards the malevolent creature...
Concealment: 1d100 ⇒ 81
Scimitar: 1d20 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (16) + 2 + 1 = 19
a beautiful cut that nonetheless misses it's mark.
edit: Just realized that rolling high on Concealment probably means that Alia did, in fact, hit. If so, then
Scimitar Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 4
a beautiful cut that finds its mark.

GM FurtiveZoog |

Pizzmic, that looks like a good summary, except I was giving Sunic the opportunity to still act in the surprise round, besides being blind. In PbP things can get a bit out of order.
Speaking of which, I rolled some dice regarding your Fort save and Bungle spell, but they won't take effect until the start of the next turn when you can act again. - Out-of-order, but I don't want to take away rolls.
Pizzmic's 50% chance to need a Fort save: 1d100 ⇒ 53
High is good in my book, so no Fort save!
Alia, I'll let Narvik try to get you out of his way, this time. Would you want to take a 5' step somewhere?

![]() |

Is there any obstacle between O16 and N16? It looks like there's part of a wall there... Also, is it difficult terrain?

![]() |

Well, anyway:
Chance to avoid gaze: 1d2 ⇒ 2
Miss chance Bite: 1d100 ⇒ 70
Bite Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 121d6 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
Miss chance Claw: 1d100 ⇒ 89
Claw Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 81d4 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
Miss chance Claw: 1d100 ⇒ 11
Claw Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 221d4 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
Ralklain will get in also avoiding the creature's gaze
Chance to avoid gaze: 1d2 ⇒ 1
Guidance Fortitude: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19
Moves to O18 and shots his Crossbow
Crossbow with melee penalty: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (17) - 2 = 151d8 ⇒ 7

![]() |

Wuliem thinks: My bombs would be helpful,
but with me being blind and the splash damage wouldn't be
helpful!
Wuliem stands his position,
listening for trouble from down the hall.
perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17

GM FurtiveZoog |

Since Alia is attacking with a scimitar, I will move her 5' towards the creature (to P16), leaving room for Sunic to act, if he chooses to.
Swinging blind but with her warrior training, Alia's scimitar indeed does find home. The creature is resilient, and still stands, recovering for its next attack.
This movement frees up the space for Narvik the Oracle to rush in and safely heal Pizzmic for the 4 points of damage.
Ralklain: That would have missed anyway but, unfortunately, firing the crossbow is worse than that, with both a -4 to hit for firing into melee and another -4 to hit (or +4 to AC) provided by the "soft cover" of your allies. I've practically given up on firing ranged weapons into combat unless it is my specialty.
Anyway, we'll get to the 2nd round in a bit, hopefully.

![]() |

Sunic focuses and tries to grapple what has blinded him. Moving to P17 for 5 feet
CMB roll: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18
Concealment: 1d100 ⇒ 61
Grapple: 1d20 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 1 + 2 = 19
If all is correct
Sunic grasps the frog like creature trying to make sure he isn't face its front and prepares to pin it in place. Calm down little guy, calm down he'll hush to the frog. We aren't here to hurt you!

GM FurtiveZoog |

It looks like, from Wuliem's description, that your roll would be higher: 1d20 + 1 (level) + 4 (or +3 with adjusted STR) + 2 (Improved Grapple). And you don't need the second grapple roll: the first, "combat maneuver roll" is the grapple roll, in this case. But anyway, you grapple the frog creature for this round (the surprise round)!
That was the surprise round. I'll use your second roll for the regular round to maintain the grapple. How about we give it the "pinned" condition, to move things along.
