I had the same question, was this at our destination or some time before our arrival?

Did you see that strange halfling there? Narvik will announce after the revelers pass by. What do you suppose he was on about? And where did he and that woman go off to so fast. Did any of you see them?


The halfling was encountered in the Ascendant Court district while you were on your way, just a little after you met with Ollystra. He disappeared into the alley and the crowds.

It's a bit of foreshadowing...

Yeah I saw him Narvik. Whoever that was, I guess we should just leave it alone. He did not harm us. Maybe he hates half-orcs, maybe tigers, or summoners, or Silver Crusade members, maybe everything... We didn't do anything out of the ordinary, as much as we know.

Ralklain will follow the others IF they want to investigate, and will keep and eye open for trouble. That aside, he probably won't do anything else to investigate, but he does think that his Silver Crusade member may be the cause of the halfling's hatred.

If we already get to the orphanage I'll post my actions there.

Looking around pizzmic peers into the crowd after narvik mentions the halfling...sadly the little man only sees kneecaps of the bustling townfolk what did the halfling look like? Didn't mr.gauril mention someone snooping around the warehouse? It could be nothing and merely a misdirected glare, but it also could be a angry halfling thinking we stole his loot. We need to keep a steadfast eye guaril ole boy I hope you didn't help me make extra enemies those damn halflings always seem to have something to prove

Wuliem missed the Halfling incident as he was busy brewing his mutagen and mixing some alchemical combinations, using his new toy!

DESCRIPTION

This two-spouted funnel is used to safely mix two alchemical splash weapons into a single flask. Using the vial requires 10 minutes and a DC 25 Craft (alchemy) check; a half-elf has a +5 bonus on this check. Failing the check means both splash weapon are destroyed. Success means the two materials are safely mixed into one vial that is the same volume as a normal splash weapon vial; when thrown as a splash weapon, the mixture has the effects of both component substances and creatures are affected as if hit by both. The mixture becomes inert after 24 hours. Only liquids may be mixed with the funnel. The bearer can use it to mix an alchemical splash weapon with either holy water or unholy water, but the Craft (alchemy) DC increases to 30; half-elves still get the +5 bonus on this check. The funnel does not work on potions, elixirs, extracts, or other materials. Mixing a substance with a similar or identical substance (such as alchemist's fire with alchemist's fire) has no effect. A mixture cannot be combined with another mixture.

Wuliem meets up with the rest of the group after an hour and 10 minutes.

I was attempting to combine them for greater effect,
but I still may need some practice with that too!


I'll help out a bit by calling for rolls. Normally I like the characters to come up with these, though.

Miltivis, who runs a nearby market, claims he’s served Auntie Balt win for over 30 years, and while a good customer, she is quite demanding and often rude to the other customers. He says she’s kept his supplier of fine whiskeys in business for decades.

DC 15:
Gilga Baltwin’s neighbors Travost and Tirelle Anthos are frankly tired of the noises the children make and the retinue of cats—though they do appreciate the latter’s mousing skills. They admit to being happy when Auntie Baltwin sends the children “off into the town” during the day, as it gives them a few hours of peace and quiet before they return in the evening.

DC 20:
At the estate across the street, Master Trebb Bonto, a retired builder, says nothing but nice things of Lady Baltwin, as he calls her. He recounts tales of tea and games on the sitting porch, though when pressed, he lets slip that she often cheats at games and sometimes had some shady characters coming to whisper in her ear and palm her small bags of what might have been money before slinking away. “Otherwise a fine lady, indeed.” he quickly adds.

Wuliem looks around as they approach 'Auntie Baltwin’s Home for Recovery in the Eastgate district'.

I wonder if she is nice?
Should we just deliver the package and then ask for a tour?
I bet some of us could sneak off to interview the staff or even some of the children to find out how this place is run?

At the outside of Auntie Baltwin's Home for Recovery, you see that it is nearly swarming with cats and children, but the fine upper-class home appears to be clean and in good condition considering the number and ages of its inhabitants. Three young boys shoot marbles in the dirt near the side porch, and inside strewn toys and more cats lie about on the floors. A few children take care of chores, while coughs and sneezes can be heard to softly erupt from the children’s dormitories upstairs through open windows.

I say we approach her like we are apart of the society marked with the responsibility of dispersing the charity funds of the silver crusade. And unfortuately we must per policy investigate the premises and inhabitants before we can issue any more aid. this kind of stuff is pizzmics wet dream listen guys let me talk to her and keep her calm, no care provider likes involvement from outsiders scuritizing their work. Hopefully I can keep her occupied while a couple of you skulk off and check out areas she might not so willingly allow us access ill post the begininning of the convo with her around 11am, maybe a good time for a description of her


As you approach the door, you notice that you have attracted the inquisitive eyes of the neighbors, peering through windows and curtains at the strange collection of individuals. The boys with the marbles pause and watch the amazing intervention in their day.

After knocking on the front door, the door opens slightly to reveal a child, who then closes the door again and runs off, yelling, "Auntie! Auntie!" Soon after Auntie Baltwin briskly opens the door, looks at Pizzmic, smirks, and then pointedly looks up from him and addresses the rest of the group, "What do you want?!"

Pizzmic is both embellishing his status in the crusade, but also wants to gain the favor of the crone, thus i included the two dice rolls. The add.+1 came from Alia's boon apply to either one you see fit. pizzmic is trying to instill that he is an authoritative figure and cooperation is expected if she wants continued aid

Did you use diplomacy to gather any of the previous information? Those would have been great rolls there.

She doesn't seem to quite know what to make of Pizzmic, first starting to say, "Shhh, little one, we big folk are talking...", but then seems impressed. She delays for a moment, uncertain, then says, "OK, you can come in... Keep your little hands off the fragile things."

Inside you can see a many children and many more cats. Auntie Baltwin asks if you would like some tea, pouring some for herself.

Auntie Baltwin poured what is apparently alcohol from a flask into her tea.

Upon her comment of shhh little one..pizzmic will draw out a scroll and pen taking time to ink it properly starts to nod and write vicorously in gnomish. Ah yes, your wit is astounding madam. Ill make sure to include that within my final report. looking up at the drunkard with slight distain. I for one would love a cup a of tea with a little bit of milk and a pinch of honey if you have any. upon being handed the cup pizzmic looks inspectingly rubs the brim with a cloth pulled from his pocket takes one slip places the tea on the nearest table. Sucks on his teeth ever slightly as to get a film off of them and then speaks up delicious indeed. Thank you very much you are a very gracious host looking around the immediate area takes notice of all the children and cats in the house ok so let us begin shall we?....as per the report dictates I will ask you a series of questions and then we will need to inspect thw building to determine any hazards or potential infractions that might be present.

taking a long breath pizzmic begins his volley of questions attempting to suffiently befuddle the woman so a few companions can go investigate unattended. please state your entire name madam..are you the sole primary care provider for these children do you have employees? If yes I will need their names for the record also. How many chikdren do you currently guardian over? What are their ages? How many boys and how many girls? How many separate rooms does the estate have? Is there enough beds for each child, are the girls and boys housed in differents parts of the house to provide sufficent privacy. What programs do you have in place in order to occupy their time while they live in your care? What is the daily routine of yourself and your children?......etc pizzmic will continue with a constant barrage of similar questions to keep her occupied with just enough time for her to impulsively answer then taking some more notes. He takes particular attention to her response in what activities she has the children perform through the day time hours.

While Auntie Baltwin was eyeing Narvik and Wuliem with noticeable extra suspicion, Narvik still slips away easily - especially given Pizzmic's quality distraction - and finds (in the open) a nearly empty bottle of whiskey in her sitting room as well as a half bottle in the kitchen.

The food in the kitchen does smell really good...

Narvik:
The food is just normal, wholesome food; apparently, she is a good cook.

The home remedies are for a variety of common illnesses and would be helpful; apparently, she is also a reasonably skilled healer.

At Wuliem: "Don't get your nasty, chemical-smelling hands anywhere near my food!"

Talor finds that the kids love her meals and like her bedtime stories.

Narvik will coninue on with the search in another part of the house, looking for whatever evidence the Silver Lodge has asked for.

Wandering around looking for malfeasances and things suspicious, Narvik stumbles upon what appears to be a hidden cache of unopened medicines from three different charities.

You also find a small book and a fat purse. The book has names, contact information, the names of medicines, and gp amounts. The purse is stuffed with gold measures and even a few platinum sphinxes.
