Darius Redgrave |
"Now Spugnoir, is that any way for a hero to talk? Our help is needed. Clearly Iomedae guided us here at this time when there is someone in need of aid." Darius says and draws his sword.
"Shall we?"
Brother Grergof Varsk |
Grergof rejoins the others and says:
Did you hear that?. Seeing Dariou ahead weigh his sword drawn, he joins him drawing his Adamantium flail and scanning the area for any evil creatures. If He detects one he will stop Darius as he tries to determine where it is.
Darius Redgrave |
"They are moving. We must hurry!" Darius breaks into a jog to try catch up. He raises his free hand before him and inscribes the rune of Iomedae in the air and suddenly he starts moving at twice his speed.

DESCRIPTION
The transmuted creatures move and act more quickly than normal. This extra speed has several effects.
When making a full attack action, a hasted creature may make one extra attack with one natural or manufactured weapon. The attack is made using the creature’s full base attack bonus, plus any modifiers appropriate to the situation. (This effect is not cumulative with similar effects, such as that provided by a speed weapon, nor does it actually grant an extra action, so you can’t use it to cast a second spell or otherwise take an extra action in the round.)
A hasted creature gains a +1 bonus on attack rolls and a +1 dodge bonus to AC and Reflex saves. Any condition that makes you lose your Dexterity bonus to Armor Class (if any) also makes you lose dodge bonuses.
All of the hasted creature’s modes of movement (including land movement, burrow, climb, fly, and swim) increase by 30 feet, to a maximum of twice the subject’s normal speed using that form of movement. This increase counts as an enhancement bonus, and it affects the creature’s jumping distance as normal for increased speed. Multiple haste effects don’t stack. Haste dispels and counters slow.

So Darius sprints after the screams, followed by Spugnoir. After following the trail of lost coins and other mundane items for a while you hear the soft, haunting melody of a harp drifts through the air, emanating from a ruined stone watchtower in a small clearing. The tower stands about three stories tall; blood ivy and grayishgreen lichen blanket the stonework of the tower’s crumbling exterior, while passing winds whistle softly through its darkened, gaping windows.
The trail leads there though the screams are no longer heard.
Darius Redgrave |
Oh boy.
Darius raises his sword before him. "Why does this feel like a trap? Way to go Darius. This is the second time this has happened. When will you learn old man." he says to himself.
Then looks around and listens for the voice he heard before.

Through the opening in the wall you see something inside the tower that looks like a large cocoon.
Darius waits for his companions to arrive before moving further.
S: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26
As Spugnoir and Stam arrive Spugnoir moves into the tower to investigate. Long, taut strands of shimmering silk fill the ruined tower’s interior, forming an intricate pattern running from floor to ceiling. Half a dozen large cocoonlike shapes hang from the ceiling, suspended above the tower’s hard-packed dirt floor. In the far corner, between two larger chunks of rubble, a wide burrow opens into the ground.
As Spugnoir enters the music stops.
Brother Grergof Varsk |
Grergof moves along, being sure to drag his feet a bit so they have a path back.
If that means I arrive a few rounds later, so be it, he is concerned about losing the path.
As me moves along he mutters to himself:
Fools! This feels like a trap, just like the ball of light or magic spider....
Stam Truthfinder |
Stam arrives well out of breath, huffing and puffing.
"Why ... did you .... have to ... run so... fast?" Stam takes a long swig from his water skin. After another short breather, Stam moves up slowly to the towering, looking for anythign magical on the silken strands.
"We should try to gather some of this up."
Darius Redgrave |
Darius look around. "Keep an eye on that burrow there. No doubt something within is just waiting for it's next meal. I want to check what's in the coccoons. If I remember right, spiders leave their food in coccoons, maybe someone is still alive and trapped and that's the voice we heard."
Darius moves slowly towards one of the lower cocoons, careful to avoid any webbing and looking for any eight legged freaks that might lie in wait.
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 17
If nothing seems to move he uses the tip of his sword to cut a small piece of the cocoon away to see whats inside, but keeps his distance.
GM Foxy |
What is responsible for that becomes clear pretty soon as the creature rises from the hole in the ground. The bloated white segments of a maggot’s body erupt in a torso of mixed feminine and insectile features. Pale humanoid skin and carapace meld together beneath a face with segmented eyes and mandibles chittering a song of discordant alien clicks and hisses, as overlong carapace claws weave cords of thick webbing between them.
The creature is huge and has 15ft reach. Don't ask me how this matches a tower with 20ft diameter. I'll treat it as squeezed.
Darius Redgrave |
"What in the hell's is that!?"
Darius says and as a reflex opens his palm and lets fly a beam of pure searing light at the creature.

The spell deals 1d8 points of damage per two caster levels (maximum 5d8) to each evil creature in the area (or 1d6 points of damage per caster level, maximum 10d6, to an evil outsider) and causes it to become blinded for 1 round. A successful Will saving throw reduces damage to half and negates the blinded effect.

DESCRIPTION
A weapon made from divine force appears and floats near you.
This weapon takes the shape of your deity’s favored weapon (if you have no deity, the weapon appears as a simple weapon with special significance to you). You gain one additional weapon at 6th level and every 4 caster levels thereafter—two at 6th, three at 10th, four at 14th, and a maximum of five weapons at 18th level. The weapon averts and deflects attacks, granting you a +1 deflection bonus to AC for each weapon summoned (maximum +5 at 18th level). As a standard action, you can grasp a weapon and throw it as a ranged attack at any target you can see within 30 feet of you (even if it’s a type of weapon that can’t normally be thrown).
On a successful hit, the weapon deals 2d6 points of force damage to the target. This force weapon has the same threat range and critical multiplier as a standard weapon of its type, but no other special abilities. Because it deals force damage, DR doesn’t apply.
Each weapon thrown lowers the total deflection bonus to your AC by 1 as it disappears immediately after the attack action. The spell immediately ends once you throw all the weapons.
