Stam stops dead in his tracks and looks at Spugnoir, "Puke poison bugs? Next time I have to interrogate someone I am bring you with me. I never thought of using that."
Stam then picks up the pace to keep up with everyone else.
While the troll reloads his crossbow Grergof moves up to the door.
Grergof:
The trolls are indeed evil. But the thick door blocks your insight about what is evil behind or not
And the others hurry too as they can move quicker without heavy armor all reach the door at the same time. Only interrupted by the throwing of one rock.
Rock:1d20 + 6 - 4 ⇒ (13) + 6 - 4 = 15

Darius reloads his crossbow while they're at the door. "Looks like we're gonna have to force it open, it's barricaded. Is there another way in?"
A short check of the surrounding shows that you could climb the walls - which are excellent masonry with almost no joint between the stones. To the right and left of the gate house there is a deep incline into the river below.

"I will need a few minutes to prepare all this so we can hopefully get in."
With that Stam will fall into his focusing trance, flipping quickly through his spell book and mumbling some arcane words. After a few minutes he is ready.
"OK little rocky is coming up" Stam begins his summoning spell, bringing up the small earth Elemental.
In Terran
"I need you to go under the gate here and move the boards or anything else on the other side barring the door."
Stam will then draw a large circle around the group using his staff to be the focus of the spell, closing his hands together and making everyone invisible.
Obviously my post about the surroundings got eaten. I thought I posted that already yesterday.
The building is of excellent masonry that makes it really hard to climb it. The gatehouse it built at an incline of rock and to the left and right it leads far down into the river.
Grergof bashes at the door with his flail and breaks a hole into the wood. All in all there are three trolls behind it. As soon as the wood breaks the one troll with the crossbow shoots again.
Attack:1d20 + 5 - 4 ⇒ (16) + 5 - 4 = 17
But he misses. With one more swing of the adamantine ball the wooden beam holding the door shut is broken and the doors can be opened inward.
While Varsk is bashing, Spugnoir mixes up an extract of Vomit Swarm.

"Grergof step back, I have a trick for them"
Stam still holding the staff and keeping them invisible puts all his fingers together in an upward motion, he then pulls his hand down and opens his fingers as he goes.
Create Pit, burning a reservoir point to increase the reflex DC to 18
The pit opens under the troll with the crossbow. He falls in and his companion to the right slips on the edge and falls in too.
Falling Damage:3d6 ⇒ (2, 5, 3) = 10 Falling Damage Shared:3d6 ⇒ (1, 4, 6) = 11
The other manages to step away and looks dumbfounded into the pit.
The bomb flies through the hole in the door and falls down into the pit. The pit flashes up as the bomb explodes.
7 points of splash damage each. No reflex save.

Darius, with heavy crossbow in hand keeps an eye out for any more enemies.
Grergof steps back after pushing the doors open and looks to see if there is any way around the pit to get to the third troll.
Can I assume both doors are at least opened? If not I eat to open them.

Stam will unhook his crossbow, pulling the string back and setting a bolt in the grove. Taking a second to aim the bolt, he will aim at the Trolls left shoulder pulling the trigger slow as he breathes out.
Please takes squared paper. Draw a pit. 10 by ten foot and 30 foot deep. And to not fall in you need to stay away 5ft from the edge. You're 5ft high. Draw yourself as one square that is one square away from the pit. Not draw a line from the top corner of the square depicting you as a tangent past the top corner of the pit. Everything above that line you can see and shoot. Everything below that line you can throw things at in a ballistic curve hoping you don't hit the wall. (hint: you can see nothing in the pit on your side and 10ft deep on the opposing side. The orcs are at 30ft rising up 10ft. to 20ft).
That pit thing is really nice to get the trolls to stop attacking. But if you didn't want to flee and need to beat them it's rather a nuisance.
If you follow game logic then the edges of the pit are sloped so the Edges around the pit are angled down not 90 degrees. If you assume that the squares around are a 45 degree decline at 5 feet out they would end 5 feet down. Which means if you are standing at the edge of the the decline you would see about 27 feet down the opposite side of the pit. 45 degrees seems to make sense on what would make you have to do a reflex save even if you see the slope as anything less is way too easy to not slip in unless its icy. So by my drawing I think I should be able to see them.
Good argument. For that you get one round of bow shooting before the trolls sort themself out, get up and decide to hide in the part of the pit you cant look into.
