Brother Grergof Varsk |

I can not place the symbol.
Grergof says but he is clearly distracted as he keeps glancing over at the troll and dog.

Brother Grergof Varsk |

Could it be an arcane society?
No I haven't looked at the spoiler I'm just guessing here what I think it is.

Stam Truthfinder |

K. Arcana: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (14) + 12 = 26
Stam is just about to answer when Spugnoir does.
"So the house. Are there more trolls here and about? That looks like another golem dog, Grergof you will have your chance to use your new weapon I guess."

Brother Grergof Varsk |

Or the owner of the house is a member of the way... he does after all make golems. I wonder if that's where the other one came from?
Grergof turns to the others.
Anything else for the little ones? I can't think of anything...

Brother Grergof Varsk |

Oh, you noticed my wording where I never said anything about not attacking them.
Grergof looks down at the goblins.
You may go, but know that if you harm our horses in any way or I hear of you causing trouble to any of the folk around here; I will do to you and you companions exactly what You saw us do to the Trolls...
He lets the last threat hang in the air for a moment before turning and walking down the stairs to make sure the goblins don't cause any trouble on the way out (or steal anything)

GM Foxy |
The goblins know very well what you could do to them. They duck their head in on the way out and are even more afraid as they see the burnt remains of the trolls. Once out the door they start running and don't look back.
They are goblins. I was wondering if you will let them go or just smash them before they go back to eating babies ;) The old question: Can one individual be not evil if the species is given as evil in the Bestiary. And yes I tend to notice nuances in roleplay.

Brother Grergof Varsk |

Paladin of the god of REDEMPTION. Of course I will give them a chance. Only the undead will be killed on sight. They have to be as obvious as the warden's wife to even have a chance of getting a pass.
After the Goblin's leave. Grergof starts to collect the loot he saw earlier.

Stam Truthfinder |

"So how do we wish to proceed? Take out the troll and the hound first then the dog on the bridge? I have no fire spells and I think Spugnoir needs to replenish his potions does he not?"
Stam will help with gathering up things.
what loot was there?

Brother Grergof Varsk |

Grergof hands each of the group 54 GP and 86 SP.
Then he asks the others to check the rest of the stuff for magic.
(Sacks, a pair of bellows, a shovel, a sledge, a battered tankard, several pretty (but valueless) stones).
Well we could try to bull rush then into the river, or we do have some fires here, you could take a burning brand and poke or toss them at the dog and troll as Darius and I beat it down.

Brother Grergof Varsk |

Then I think we press on.
Grergof starts to clear the rubble blocking the inner door while he waits for the rest of the stuff to be checked for magic.

Brother Grergof Varsk |

Thanks for the hint Foxy! Stam, check the meat, hooks and old staff that is nicely tucked in the middle of the description for magic. As soon as that's done, I'll open the door.

GM Foxy |
On closer inspection the staff made of twisted darkwood is covered with knots and nodules resembling crawling insects (which occasionally seem to move).

Stam Truthfinder |

Stam will scan around the room for anything else that is magical. Upon finding an aura he will move closer to it, picking up the staff.
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (4) + 13 = 17
"I am not really sure what magic is inside this staff."

Brother Grergof Varsk |

Hmmm, maybe something to do with controlling or summoning bugs?
In any case, we have more trash to take care of.
Then with everyone set he throws open the doors and readies his flail for the troll he knows is in the other side of the door.

GM Foxy |
On the other side you find a troll in defensive stance who looks very unhappy. For one because he got locked out and had watch duty against that stupid dog that can't be hurt and bites quite nasty if approached. And next because the troll boss and one other troll are now lying as a burnt pulp of meat in the gatehouse.
Beside him stands a growling and snarling troll hound.

Brother Grergof Varsk |

Grergof 5 foot steps up into the doorway and if the things are within reach swings defending at them, if not he readies an action to swing when one of them gets close.
Heavy Flail - Power Attack + Furious Focus -fight defensive: 1d20 + 12 - 2 + 2 - 4 ⇒ (14) + 12 - 2 + 2 - 4 = 22
Damage + Power Attack: 1d10 + 6 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 + 6 = 13
AC 23 for this round.

Darius Redgrave |

Darius puts a hand on Grergofs shoulder. Iomedae is with you Brother Grergof.

Then Darius draws his sword and gets ready.

Brother Grergof Varsk |

Going to be off line the rest of the day so posting ahead.
Grergof Replies by swinging at the dog twice.

AC 23 thank to everyone

Stam Truthfinder |

Stam will point his wand at the ground just behind the troll and its hound hoping to avoid Grergof.
"GREIX"
A large blob of black oily grease flies from the wand.
DC 11 reflex save to avoid falling, DC 10 acrobatics check to move at half speed.

GM Foxy |
Spugnoir hits the troll and
Reflex: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13
the hound some. Grergof hits the dog twice, once to bring it down and another one to ensure it stays that way. He then steps closer to the troll just in case an opportunity to attack occurs.
Reflex: 1d10 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10
The troll falls on his back and struggles to get back up. Once he does he bites angrily at Grergof.
Attack: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (14) + 8 = 22
But in vain.

Darius Redgrave |

Darius gets in on the action by moving forward and driving his sword into the downed troll.
Attack: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 21
Damage: 1d8 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13
"Raaagh!"

Brother Grergof Varsk |

Grergof swings at the troll as it tries to get up
Heavy Flail - Power Attack vs Prone: 1d20 + 7 - 2 ⇒ (11) + 7 - 2 = 16
Damage + Power Attack: 1d10 + 6 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 + 6 = 13
Then he continues to bash at the creature in a workman like way:
Heavy Flail - Power Attack + Furious Focus: 1d20 + 12 - 2 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 12 - 2 + 2 = 14
Damage + Power Attack: 1d10 + 6 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 + 6 = 20
Heavy Flail - Power Attack: 1d20 + 7 - 2 ⇒ (8) + 7 - 2 = 13
Damage + Power Attack: 1d10 + 6 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 + 6 = 20

Darius Redgrave |

The troll is laying unconscious in grease right? If so...
"Stand back." Darius says and steps forward and snaps his fingers, and a small flash of light erupts at a point on the grease.
Casts Spark to set the grease alight and burn up the Troll.
