"What's this?" and then starts pulling away at some of the rubble and pulls out a metal strongbox. He tries pulling at the lock but it doesn't give. "Still locked." he says looking back up at the group.

A dark hole in an area reportedly full of ghouls. Anyone want to guess what is down there?

As you have the suspicion already you notice the very specific foul stench coming out of the hole.

Darius hands the box to Spugnoir. "Maybe acid will burn through the lock?" then he walks over to some rubble and picks up a fist sized rock and casts Light then tosses is into the hole and looks down to see what he sees when it lands.


Narrator

The shaft is 3 by 3 foot wide leading fifteen feet down. Then it opens up in a room that is about another 15 feet high. At the bottom are for crates that are stacked as if set up for climbing up. Only a small portion of the room can be seen. And what can be seen is a mess.

Stam will pick up a stone as well can cast light on it. Attempting to angle it further in the Darius'stone. Stam will then squat near the edge of the hole and look in.

Stam throws the stone on the other side of the crates to light up the shadows. But the problem stays that t area you can see if you move around the hole and from every angle is still only 9 by 9 foot. And the room is larger than that.

Darius grabs the rope and wraps his legs around it and uses one hand to stabilise himself as he tries to slide down the rope into the room and once his holy energy is in range he lets Iomedae's energy wash like waves away from him and Grergof down below. Which probably doesn't work cos he falls on his butt.

Channel Energy Harm DC15: 2d6 + 4 ⇒ (1, 2) + 4 = 7 (Ugh you're kidding me that's not even half! Dammit dice roller!)

Stam takes a deep breath in lets out what looks like a silent scream at the lead ghast.

None of the ghasts can take what Darius and Stam are dishing out. They are both destroyed.

Looking thoroughly around:
There is a grisly mobile made from burned heads hanging from the ceiling. The heads show various signs of physical deformities. The floor of the room is a mess. Everything that was in this former workshop lies trampled and destroyed on the floor.

Buried among the debris in the cellar are 12 silver crossbow bolts in a quiver, a slightly melted gold belt buckle worth 15 gp, and an iron bracelet with silver filigree work depicting a moon eating an owl worth 75 gp.

perception DC 15:
Among the ruins are numerous shards of charred, broken glass one unbroken vial that has rolled into a corner. The label
on the vial is very damp, but the words “Vorkstag and Grine, Chymickal Bleach” are still clearly visible.

Spugnoir notices something.Hmmm an unbroken vial says 'Vorkstag and Grine, Chymickal Bleach' on it.

Spugnoir takes out his CLW wand. I have about four more uses of this left, Varsk, I will heal you.

Stam will take down the grisly mobile, looking at the earth elemental and asking it to dig a hole. Once that is complete Stam will dismiss the elemental and place the skulls in the hole, covering it up.

"So now to inspect above?"

Fire is good in destroying evidence and time works for that too. What you have left is the metal box that needs a special 'key'.

Once the box is open you find a huge stack mostly charred papers. But carefully picking up the pieces one after - though mostly unreadable and only single words without context can be read - two names show up several times while going through the stack Vorkstag, Grine and Chymic Works


Spugnoir waits for the big strong types to open it.
