In the sleepy coastal town of Sandpoint, evil is brewing. An attack by crazed goblins heralds the shadows of forgotten past returning to threaten the town- and perhaps all of Varisia.

Map of Sandpoint.

Startled by the man speaking to her Well.. I did roll a 1 Krissina almost jumps out of her skin as Kar addresses her.

Eyeing Karl warily. "I don't like goblins, they and their kind are the one creature I would burn without hesitation."

She pauses a moment, wondering if she's coming across a little crazy. Krissina's face lights up in a red blush.

"I do know it's not really a goblin by the way..."

Hmm, that probably didn't help.

"I am sure you do, but where are my manners" Karl lets out a chuckle that is probably related to his earlier laugh "Where indeed...Karl Sarvo" He continues fixinf the fiery haired woman with a studious glance.

"I have not seen many goblins in my travels, tell me would people be willing to pay a fee to be rid of them?" He asks, the question appearing to be quite genuine.

"Krissina, and my large Shoanti friend is Nante."
Krissina eyes the stranger warily.
"Goblins are plague on the land, I'm sure if you spoke to the Sheriff or maybe Shalelu, you could work something out. Maybe after the festival though."

GM:

I'm just wandering around the town just, looking at people and what they are doing; I don't think Jovalson is the kind of guy to go into the festival games. I'll attend the consecration later, but as I told him, I'm not entirely convinced my arrival here is purely coincidence.

Krissina nods to Nante in acknowledgement, but gives Karl a moment to respond.

Nodding a simple greeting to the Shoanti, Karl's eyes go back to Krissina, noticing the large man whispering something to her, but he couldn't exactly hear what Interesting, a Shoanti with no tattoos...I wonder what is his story Karl decided to keep Nante in mind, just in case he ever heard of a bounty on a tattoo-less Shoanti.

"Hmmm, I appreciate the information, I just had a chat with the sheriff but maybe I'll look for this Shalelu after this party dies down a little" The grey eyed mercenary's thanks was sincere enough, but the sinister smile that appeared on his face as he considered what to do about these goblins was quite worrying to any who watched him.

Karl's expression suddenly morphed as he refocused on the people that stood in front of him, into a more neutral expression "If you ever want any specific goblin's hunted down do let me know, I'll even give you a discount in return for your little tip"

@Sarvin:
You must really like me digging through my supplement material to provide all of this information...but hey, it's fun to write out. I can't complain...

While your recollection of the history of the goddess' worship falls a bit flat, you can distinctly recall how her doctrine revolved around the seven virtues, but over the course of the ancient empire's history were corrupted into the seven deadly sins by the ancient wizard-kings of old, the Runelords. While this "shift" in the Lissala's doctrine went relatively ignored by the deity herself, her followers began to encourage violence, self-flagellation and the mortification of one's flesh.

It is widely believed that the goddess is the original teacher of Rune magic to the ancient empire of Thassilon, and though her worship has fallen into sharp decline ever since The Starfall, the rune giants to the north refuse to believe her "dead" and continue to venerate her.

While Rune magic is famous for revolving around the seven deadly sins, the seven virtues can still be used as a caster's reference point, but the description of the magic remains rooted in sin:

* Envy/Charity (Abjuration)- The art of suppressing magic other than one's own.
* Gluttony/Temperance (Necromancy)- Magic that can manipulates the physical body to provide for an unending hunger for life.
* Greed/Generosity (Transmutation)- Magically transforming things into objects of grater value or utility, and enhancing the physical self.
* Lust/Love (Enchantment): Magically controlling other creatures to satisfy your desires, and manipulating other's minds, emotions and wills.
* Pride/Humility (Illusion): Perfecting your own appearance and domain through trickery and illusion.
* Sloth/Zeal (Conjuration): Calling agents and minions to perform your deeds for you, or creating what you need as you need it.
* Wrath/Kindness (Evocation): Mastery of the raw destructive power of magic, and channeling those destructive forces.

@Jovalson and @Varian:
As you wander and meander around the Festival, you fail to notice an oncoming figure walking directly towards you. You bump into each other in your rush to see the events and subsequently loose your footing.

Make Reflex Saves DC 5 to avoid falling to the ground.
In my defense, I gotta introduce you all together at some point! :P

It's been a strange kind of day..." Jovalson's voice trails off for a second, as he ponders this very strange day full of coincidences. Realizing that he's being rude, he quickly continues. "Oh, I'm speaking at the church consecration tonight. I do hope you attend. I'll be nervous if I don't see at least one familiar face in the crowd."

"What brings me here? That's a good question. I think Desna wanted me here actually." I hope I don't bore this fella to death, but he did ask.

"You see, I was supposed to be going to Oppara, the capital city. Unfortunately there was fog and our short-sighted captain missed the river entrance, and mistakenly took the next river. Once he realized he was on the wrong river, he forced us all off his ship. I think he was mighty embarrassed and didn't want us telling folks in Oppara he can't find his way. So, you see, I'm just here because of a coincidental mistake."

"But alas, I don't think so, because as a cleric of Desna, I just happen to arrive in a city that is having a festival to Desna? Sounds a little too convenient. I just happen to be here when they consecrate a new church? I just happen to run into you? Hmmm, I don't think so. Desna is guiding me, and maybe guiding you for bumping into me. I'd keep your eyes open. Desna is being a bit over the top with the coincidences."

Heh, people sometimes become complacent with themselves, and let their skills grow dull, I think he won't be making that mistake again for a long time.

He becomes solemn for a few moments as if remembering something. Before coming back to reality

Anyway, I have never believed in coincidence myself, but neither do I like the idea of fate. Especially if that fate is pre ordained, not a very free life from my perspective. From my view, a life is guided by ones actions, events, and reactions, doing nothing is also an action, but rarely is it a good one. How did you come to worship Desna if I may ask?

He begins to walk and talk with Jovalson, who he refers to as "jovy"

Walking with Varian, Jovalson says, "Ahh, Desna is more of a manipulator than forcing destiny. I think she puts her pieces on the board, but then stands back and watches to see what happens. I think she tries to put us in a good position, but ultimately it's our choices and actions."

"But it's a funny story about my initiation into Desna. I had a, love interest, in a beautiful elven woman named Hithil. While I was with her, I learned about Desna, a common god worshiped by the elves. Unfortunately, Hithil and I didn't work out, but I'm stuck with Desna. Heh. Now I'm still looking for another beautiful elven woman. Part of why I'm walking around this festival looking around. Probably why I ran into you, you aren't a beautiful elven woman!"

@Jovalson and @Varian:
Again, I swear to God that these online dice are rigged against both the PCs and the GM...

@Varian: You watch your new friend walk off as he waves you farewell, but you notice that he fails to watch where he's walking. Judging by the trajectory of his path...he will suffer an accident. You don't have time to warn him; he will make contact within three...two...one...now.

@Jovalson: You crash into a sign that bears the icon of the town smithy. Before you have time to blink, you hear the sound of something falling from above you to crash onto your head. As you blink away the pretty stars of Desna that are swarming around your eyes, you realize that the item that hit you was that of the anvil decoration, an aged ornament that was finally knocked loose when you ran into its pole.

Take Damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

Jovalson looks down, dazed, and sees the anvil decoration. Sure didn't feel like a decoration. Is that lethal or non-lethal damage?

"No worries, I meant to do that." Jovalson stands up, only to fall down again. "Everything is fine, Desna be praised, yadda yadda yadda." Time to stop looking for sexy elves and get back to the church. That'll teach me.

Jovalson, not looking around but keeping his eyes in front of him, walks carefully back to the church.

Alright. I can acquiesce to that request.
And I assume that you are all in the town square at this point.

The sun begins to set across the horizon as you all enjoy the rest of the festival to varying degrees of amusement and/or pain. When the sun has nearly vanished over the treeline, you hear a sharp retort, like the crack of distant thunder, that slices through the excited crowd. A stray dog that has crawled under a wagon to sleep starts awake, and the buzz of two dozen conversations quickly hushes as all heads turn toward the central podium, where a beaming Father Zantus has taken the stage, accompanied by an out-of-town priest that some in the crowd recognize as Jovalson.

Zantus clears his throat, takes a breath to speak, raises his hands in supplication to the stars, and suddenly a woman’s scream slices through the silent air. A few moments later, another scream rises, then another. Beyond them, a sudden surge of strange new voices rises— high-pitched, tittering shrieks that sound not quite human. The crowd parts and something low to the ground races by, giggling with disturbing glee as the stray dog gives a pained yelp and then collapses with a gurgle, its throat cut open from ear to ear. As blood pools around its head, the raucous sound of a strange song begins, chanted from shrill, scratchy voices.

Please roll for Perception.

The screams meant trouble, the dead dog...trouble is near...and here I thought this place didn't remind me of home quite enough Thought Karl sarcastically, his left handsliding into an all too familiar motion, causing leather straps to go tout and his lighr shield to shift in to motion and stop at his forearm, while his right hand awoke a dart from where its slept in his holster, causing its blade to gleam against the dawning sun.

Note the addition of a Google Drive map in the description above. This is how we will be keeping track of where everyone is in mass combat.

@DC 12 Perception:
Above the bloodied corpse of the dog, you see a single shape lurking by the wagon’s edge- a goblin. It licks the blood off of its dogslicer as it looks excitedly into the crowd, seeking a new target. It gives a high-pitched shriek before it leaps at the closest person to the wagon, joined by five of its goblinoid comrades.

The throaty, growling song is hitherto:

Goblins chew and goblins bite.
Goblins cut and goblins fight.
Stab the dog and cut the horse,
Goblins eat and take by force!

Goblins race and goblins bump.
Goblins slash and goblins bump.
Burn the skin and mash the head,
Goblins here and you be dead!

Chase the baby, cut the pup.
Bonk the head to shut it up.
Bones be cracked, flesh be stewed,
We be goblins! You be food!

Goblin I12 fires an arrow from its short bow at Jovalson and does not move.
Goblin I12: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 121d4 ⇒ 1

Goblin I13, frusrated that the other goblins are going to finish the red-headed longshanks before he can have any fun, fires an arrow into the melee. He does not move.
Goblin I13: 1d20 + 4 - 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 - 4 = 201d4 ⇒ 2

@Krissina: the crude goblin arrow flies towards you, piercing through your armor and hitting you right where it hurts. Take 6 DMG (2 X 3 because of the Crit).

Phew, that was exhausting!
After edit: ...someone REALLY, REALLY loves you, @Krissina. How in the hell did EVERY SINGLE F*CKING GOBLIN (sans the archer) MISS?! XD

Easily dodging out of the way of thw clumsy strike, gave Karl an advantage, which he utilzed through quickly kicking dust into his small foe's eyes.

Dirty Trick(Blind): 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 4 + 2 = 18

"This one's wide open lads!! He shouts to his companions.
