What have I done...... oh gods what have I done!
Looking down Quarr watches as the skin on his arms and chest begin to melt away from the noxious gas and slowly drip to the ground below.
Looking back with tearful eyes Quarr gives a nod to Thorgrim.
I will give my life if I have to make sure they make it back from here.

Stepping forward he waves a hand at the shades. "Begone!"

Throgrim's smash and Quarr's wild explosions are enough to finally rid the dreamscape of the horrific nightmares!
Out of combat!
The gigantic mirror cracks from top to bottom, showering the ground with shards of glass. Dark gray mist, churning like boiling water, seeps from the fissures and forms a shadowy cloud. “Fated, that one. Bound in threads not of her making, impotently thrashing against them and yet—as long as they tug, she dances.” The voice, coarse and ancient, emanates from a feminine silhouette now visible within. Far taller than any human, she shakes her head and sets her wild mane of hair dancing between her jagged horns. “She dances on and on, and there you are—running behind her. But who, they ask, threaded the strings?” The silhouette raises one arm, holding aloft a familiar-looking lantern burning with a cold blue light.
“Introductions now, I suppose. I am Aslynn.” Her tone is heavy with amusement. “I am the weaver, the maker, an inveterate taker. Here I am, dreamers. What now?”
Latheas Dartan |
Latheas nods thanks to Maximo, indicating the end to his need of arrows from that quiver.
They were nice arrows.
He examines the dreamweaverspeaker, trying to figure out exactly what it is...and how best to approach it. He trusts others to do the talking, but he likes to know what's what.
1d20 + 15 ⇒ (13) + 15 = 28 Know (Arcana)
1d20 + 14 ⇒ (9) + 14 = 23 Know (Planes)
Is it a creature? A haunt? A ghost?
Nikomedes Diogenes |
Niko studies the figure in much the same manner as Latheas, trying to discern what they are dealing with.
KN: planes: 1d20 + 10 + 1d6 ⇒ (9) + 10 + (5) = 24
KN: arcana: 1d20 + 10 + 1d6 ⇒ (11) + 10 + (2) = 23
KN: nature (something First Worldly?): 1d20 + 10 + 1d6 ⇒ (9) + 10 + (2) = 21
Still jittery from his mutagen and feeling an inexorable desire to talk, Niko says. "Greetings Aslynn. I am Nikomedes, and these are my companions, Maximo, Latheas, Thorgrim, and Quart. It would appear you have us at a disadvantage, and know more of us than we of you." Pointing at the latern, he contiues.
"That is the primary objective we seek, while the woman is also of interest. How did you come by the lamp? As we have an interest in it, I hazard a guess that you might exchange it for something else you find of value? What is that and where is woman who came bearing the lantern?"

Is it a creature? A haunt? A ghost?
;) None of the above, as far as you can tell.

"That is the primary objective we seek, while the woman is also of interest. How did you come by the lamp? As we have an interest in it, I hazard a guess that you might exchange it for something else you find of value?"
"Why did you come here, seeking forgotten dreams? Why, to find the answer to a question, was it not? What loftier goal is there, than the truth?"
"What is that and where is woman who came bearing the lantern?"
"Gone. Away from those who would harm her, for now. She has a role yet to play in what is to come, but, venomous serpents are ever so persistent, aren’t they?"
Purposefully cryptic/unhelpful....
Maximo Interresante |
"You speak the word truth, but talk in riddles." Maximo arches an eyebrow at the silhouette. "The woman is of little consequence, and the lantern as well if the soul we seek is no longer bound within. Tell us, how do we save Aram Zey?"
As they talk Maximo lays a hand upon Thorgrim to heal both his injuries and fatigue.
Lay on Hands with fatigue Mercy: 5d6 ⇒ (5, 1, 1, 3, 3) = 13
Latheas Dartan |
Latheas wonders about the creature, finding it *much* more interesting and worthwhile to note than some a~@~!+* wizard who never bothered to share his spellbook.
Is there a knowledge check to help ID the 'thing'? What sort of knowledges might help a smart and able pathfinder like Latheas give a good report about it?
Quarr |
Quarr descends gracefully as he falls to his knees. His wings begin to flop about useless for a moment, half smacking him in the face, as he draws a wand and tends to his wounds.
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
CLW: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
The truth is out there.....What book have I read that in?
Quarr ponders for a moment.
Was it in Ustalav or Numeria? Ex-Files I believe it was called.
Quarr shrugs as he looks up to the being, cause well he has to look up to everything.
...and what is the truth?
Thorgrim the Bold Strider |
Thorgrim feels more of his mind being bled away as the royal man moves closer and heals some of his wounds, but the cloud over his head seems to stick around.
Thorgrim, healed by Maximo, rages around. "You give Thorgrim information for why he spend weeks looking at dumb books!" he bellows into the mirror, ready to strike it. "Or I will destroy your home!" he bellows, smashing a nearby rock.
"Was that your favorite rock?! Thorgrim smash another!" he yells as he smashes another.
If you have one Charisma, then you are probably pretty dumb as a side effect to also being terrible at discussion or negotiations.

1d20 ⇒ 1
@Latheas: lol. It seems like a hag but trying your hardest you still can't tell what exactly is different about it.
"Tell us, how do we save Aram Zey?"
"Oh child, this is neither the time nor the place. My little light has a much longer part to play in the events to come."
...and what is the truth?
"That’s not the question you should be asking, child. But rather, what does my little light know?"
Throgrim then begins smashing rocks but the woman in the mirror only laughs. Her smoky form withdraws into her mirror, which turns a matte black color. The dreamscape to collapse, and the world begins to crumble around you. As the last piece of land beneath your feet crumbles, you wake safe and sound back in the Archive Absentia. Hours have passed while you slept.
Second Archivist Qilaus Sandaril has followed you here and is in conversation with Aliyas. He is astounded by the discovery of the Archive Absentia and thanks you for your heroic efforts in subduing the planar disturbance. Aliyas, likewise, thanks you for helping to reunite her with the Forae Logos’s staff, and she intends to carry out her duties for as long as she remains capable of maintaining her spiritual form.
Kreighton Shaine eagerly awaits your findings outside the library. "Astounding! And you were able to communicate directly with this Aslynn? We have learned so much about the lantern's powers and although you were not able to recover it, we at least know that it is being held by a hag... and we even have her name!"
The Master of Scrolls seems even more determined than ever to recover Aram Zey’s soul. He and several other planes-savvy Pathfinder begin launching their own inquiries to track Aslynn and the elf 322 before any further harm befalls the deceased Master of Spells. You have secured critical intelligence in the name of the Pathfinder Society, and your accomplishments will not soon be forgotten.
In fact, Kreighton Shaine is so impressed that he awards each of you with one of the following items of your choice: a malleable symbol (Ultimate Equipment 309), a lesser ring of revelation (Ultimate Equipment 173), a seducer’s bane (Ultimate Equipment 274), or a voidfrost robe (Ultimate Equipment 219). These items appear on the adventure’s Chronicle sheet, and a PC may only purchase one (so he doesn't really give it to you!). In Subtier 8–9, the options also include bracers of sworn vengeance (Ultimate Equipment 272), a manual of gainful exercise +1, a ring of blinking, or a robe of scintillating colors. A PC must purchase the manual on the Chronicle sheet in order to benefit from reading it.
And that's about it for this one! Hope you all had fun with it; I'll have chronicles out tonight! Thanks for playing!
Latheas Dartan |
Latheas grumps on the return to the Lodge. He was somewhat happy with the ending of the mission, but can't help but feel he failed at the end. He wanted to identify and note that final 'thing', whatever it was...at least for his own records.
However, that his bosses were pleased was nice, but he didn't feel he done much good overall. Mostly, because f$&$ Aram Zey.
He does, however, offer a farewell to Quarr, Niko, Maximo, and Thorgrim.
"Uh...nice working with you all. I, uh, hope..."...that I never have to spend multiple days with you in a library ever again..."...that your next missions go, uh, 'better'."
Thanks for running, GM Endless!! I hope my a@&%! character wasn't too assholy, I swear he's usually like this...but this mod seemed like just the right mix of frustations (father figures, cooped up in libraray for days, concern over a guy who wasn't a good Pathfinder) for him. You did a great job.
