Just for the record in this campaign all damage will be nonlethal unless the player states he or she is out for the kill, with no penalties for doing nonlethal damage as long as your character is part of the RHC, however if you choose to be a consultant damage will be normal and enemies will die at 0hp its due to the special law enforcement training of the RHC.
So firearms do non-lethal damage? Hmmm... I might have to switch to the blackpower inquisition.

and also, for a house rule regarding that, i would suggest that if you do a crit and it is confirmed, you must deal lethal damage (if you are worried about the realism of normal bullets doing nonlethal damage). this would represent accidentally hitting an artery in the leg you were trained to aim for, or something similar.

GMEDWIN |

There isnt one in the knee, foot, hand, shoulder or any of those places. O
With other weapons I am not so sure but if the enemy goes below his constitution score it would die anyway. It does seem like a critical hit shouldn't be penalized but rewarded in game terms.
I guess the enemies can be treated the way the PC party would, the big difference is they don't know the Metagaming knowledge that they can be revived... The truth is the RHC is in the business of policing and intelligence gathering and it better to bring the criminals back alive instead of dead.

GMEDWIN |

Fair enough, noone ever accused pathfinder of being realistic, people can fly, magic exists and you dont have to worry about sucking chest wounds, beating the front of a tank into shape with a sledge hammer because a moron drove through a building...
Why couldn't a nice glass of Rye whiskey work like cure moderate wounds... dammit...
Anyway i digress... if you want to do only lethal damage I am not here to stop you, you can declare it if you want to and not take the penalty associated with it "due to your training" as the module says...

I wasn't trying to make a stink about it, it's just that I had planned on building my Inquisitor around using the blade of mercy trait with a falchion and the enforcer trait. If PCs do non-lethal damage by default, then I dont need the trait. If crits are going to be doing lethal damage then I wont want to use a high threat weapon.
Granted this is all academic at the moment, but I was just curious.
I guess that there could be lethal and non-lethal ammunition for guns.

Dreaming Warforged |

Ok, I don't know what I'll be able to come up with before you make your decision, but here is what I have so far.
Inspiration: Mother Superior Taraza from Heretics of Dune.
Build: Human or Half-elf female Monk 1 or 2 (possible archetypes: none, flowing monk, monk of the lotus, master of many style, maneuver master) / Inquisitor X (Conversion Inquisition most likely).
Theme: Spirit Medium
Hopefully, I'll find some time to work out the detail and background, but it is likely that the character will have been the daughter of a important figure of the Royal Homeland Constabulary. Strongly devoted, though not having put her idealism to the test of reality.
Let me know if you have comments or if you'd prefer I go with something different.

My idea for an artifier never really came together for me, so I went back to SRD for inspiration.
I'm thinking about a spellslinger with the gunslinger theme, very "establishment", prim and proper type. Think P D James' Lord Peter Whimsy.
Stuck on race tho, thinking about aasimar. Any rules on that GMEDWIN; variants allowed that sort of thing?

Spazmodeus |

Here a rough outline of my idea
An aasimar, lately the plaything of person or persons unknown, killing him over and over again for pleasure or research.
Memories of torture gone, but impression of pain remain.
Finally, game or experiment over, aasimar disposed of in trash heap near Parity Lake.
Found by professor and students from univesity, returning from Alchemy Row.
Nursed back to health by professor, welcomes rigidity of scholastic life after chaos of recent years
Takes to wizardry well but begins to forgo some instruction when he witnesses a live-fire drill by the army.
Enamored with guns, begins own researches and experiments.

Hehe, percussive field maintenance, or an exercise in futility when applied to tank armor?
Why couldn't a nice glass of Rye whiskey work like cure moderate wounds... dammit...
Make it single malt Highland whiskey and you have a deal!
Anyway i digress... if you want to do only lethal damage I am not here to stop you, you can declare it if you want to and not take the penalty associated with it "due to your training" as the module says...
Sorry if it seemed I was criticizing GMEdwin, that wasn't my intention. Personally I'm quite happy to play it the way you've outlined, with lethal damage only occurring when specifically declared by the player. More cinematic that way I'd guess. You run the game any way you want to, I was just throwing shells from the peanut gallery. :)

Spazmodeus |

Well I was hoping to have some time this morning to flesh out my idea, but works been really busy. Today and the weekend are going to be busy as well so wouldn't have a chance to look at this till Sunday.
So....I'm going to retract my interest and let you guys start without. Have fun...I'll lurk to see how it goes :)

GMEDWIN |

Hello Everyone GMEDWIN is back looking for a new player to replace one who has disappeared from the boards altogether. Please follow the guidelines at the beginning of the thread in regards to character creation.
Thanks!
Currently we have:
Tiefling Mechanus
Dwarf Gunslinger
Human Fighter
Half-Orc Inquisitor

GMEDWIN |

I posted the other day and got absolutely no bites but that could have to do with the holidays.
We are still in act 1 of the first book, just after the first encounter, so real early.
Please take one theme feat.
@ Havoc maker, I like both concepts. My questions would be on Coopsworth, overthrow the government for what political force? And Delacroix who is his father?

Havocprince |

Coopsworth sees the institution as behind the times. He would like to remove the stodgy impediments to progress. Think of it more as ultra patriotism the current administration be darned. As for Delacroix I do not know who the major NPC's in the Jierre but seeing as he doesn't know who his father is it would be interesting if one of our major adverseries turned out to be him. Also forgot I didn't have his crunch up but he is an eschantologist. Putting his crunch on the profile in a sec.

Please pardon my interruption. I'll be brief so you can get back to gaming.
I'm Ryan Nock, director of the ZEITGEIST Adventure Path, and I'm scouting various Play-by-Post forums for groups playing the campaign. We're running a Kickstarter project for ZEITGEIST, which finishes up on July 13th, and if you're enjoying the adventure we thought you might be interested in pledging, or at least spreading the word to your friends.
For GMs, we're producing a hardcover compilation of the first five adventures. For players, you can pick up a softcover copy of the Player's Guide or get a portrait of your PC done by one of our artists, as well as other options.
You can find all the details here, but if you have any questions just ask; I'll keep an eye on this thread for a few days.
Thanks for your time, and have fun with the adventure.
