I just figured he'd have grabbed 100 rounds of .46 and a conversion kit or two so he could switch back and forth. Show off the cartridge conversion to drum up business and convince the bank to loan him money for a shop, and then use that to build up the business. The conversion is just a swapping out of the cylinder so he could go back and forth from C&B to Cartridge in a few minutes.

A few questions for TS game:
1. Are we taking trait rolls in order?
2. Are we using the companion that mdt used?
3. Do we wait to buy equipment until we know what our mission is?
Also, any input on my character is appreciated. I'm not familiar with the rules. My trait rolls seem weak. Right now I look like a support agent who was forced out into the field. More comfortable behind a desk or doing research than out interacting with people.

GM said he has the companion, and we can use it. You can find it on the internet if you do a google search for TS Companion
You did have fairly awful rolls on the first few. :(
Maybe the GM would let you start over? You could work with that, but it'll be harder. Then again, if you are Male, you'd get a +2d10 to Physical Str, which might help.

Thinking of a guerrilla/scout type character. I looked at an Osprey book (American Civil War Guerilla Tactics), and it mentioned some guerillas in poorer southern areas such as Louisiana, western Virginia, and the Ozarks that ambushed stragglers. I'm thinking that my character would be one of those. Open to other concepts, though.

I could use some help with my character. Nothing is jumping out at me. With a low charm, she's not exactly a people-person yet has a high Sociology score. I could pick World History/Current Affairs or Anthropology, and along with Photography, be an investigator, but it seems we all are.

You need to determine your years in service.
As to what skills to choose... Given your other skills, and your stats, I'd suggest Computer Science and possibly Law. You could then be a J.A.G. or a Computer Specialist tech in the military (Depending on what your MD is in). That would naturally lead to what your cover identity should be (Lawyer or Computer Science).

So if I go in the Army, with a Masters I start as a Captain and can spend 4 years to get to Major or 9 to get to Lt Col. At 35, I could do the later. How does the Military Science skill work? Do I get it as an additional skill or do I have to pick it with one of my "choice" rolls?
A concern about going with a computer science cover is it only has a 30% chance of being able to take time off.

My understanding is that you add the number of years directly to your Military or Naval Science skill. If you don't have one already, then it starts based off your General AoK skill. So, for example, if your general AoK is 35, and you spend 9 years in the military, and you don't have Military Science, then your Military Sciences is 35 (Base general AoK) + 9 = 44.
The 30% is a potential problem, although with Computer Science, you wouldn't be at all odd switching jobs regularly. :) That's pretty common. Alternately, go Legal, and be JAG officer in the Military and a Lawyer when you get out (50% get away).
Note that there appears to be a typo (big shock) in the book, as it says 'roll 100% - Charm, if greater than this, you are fired'. However, that means a high charm penalizes you (75 Charm = 26+ fired, 25 Charm = 76+ fired). I think it was supposed to be 'subtract charm from 100, if you roll higher than that, then you are fired', which would make it 75 Charm = 76+ fired, and 25 charm makes it 26+ fired.

I noticed that you wanted the background before equipment.
Lucas Brill was 16 when his home state of Louisiana joined the Confederate States. Like many of his peers in Southern Louisiana, he fervently supported the Confederate cause. Wanting to do more than be a drummer boy, he joined a small civilian band of guerrillas. They hid in the woods, scouting and waiting for the enemy. At first, they ambushed stragglers. Lucas was one of their most fanatical warriors, but his faith in their cause diminished every time they killed someone defenseless. His faith completely vanished when they killed their first civilian. Lucas escaped the small band, and made his way out west to wait out the horrors of war. He explored the local area, and soon made a living as a guide.
