DEAD MULE MAP

I don't think you would because the ammunition wasn't readily available. Maybe once you get your store running and some capital together you could be the conversion guy. With a store and a place to put the equipment you could make it feasible to convert and make the ammunition for it.

I just figured he'd have grabbed 100 rounds of .46 and a conversion kit or two so he could switch back and forth. Show off the cartridge conversion to drum up business and convince the bank to loan him money for a shop, and then use that to build up the business. The conversion is just a swapping out of the cylinder so he could go back and forth from C&B to Cartridge in a few minutes.

Yes but you would have to cast a cylinder.

Anyway, the gameplay thread is up. Just write an intro to your character and where you got on the Stage Coach from Dodge City to Dead Mule. Let's get this rolling.

Remington was selling the cylinders for $3.63 in 1868, I just figured he bought a couple of those before heading out. See the article.

This is Fnord72's avatar.

How much for a doctor's black bag?

Let's say $25 with all of the implements and such. It does come with a hunting knife though.

I would like to start the TS game on Tuesday.

Does that mean all the applicants are accepted?

Profile Complete

Sveta. i would suggest making your character 30 to make her more believable.

Entering Rank for the Navy would be Ensign and leaving Rank Lt.

Rules said 23, I just went with them. :)

How about 27? Still believable, just took a lot of hard work. Split the difference.

Yep, got the wrong column on the military service record. Fixing.

I'll give this a try. Never played so might need some help.

A few questions for TS game:

1. Are we taking trait rolls in order?
2. Are we using the companion that mdt used?
3. Do we wait to buy equipment until we know what our mission is?

Also, any input on my character is appreciated. I'm not familiar with the rules. My trait rolls seem weak. Right now I look like a support agent who was forced out into the field. More comfortable behind a desk or doing research than out interacting with people.

I think they are in order (mine were)

GM said he has the companion, and we can use it. You can find it on the internet if you do a google search for TS Companion

You did have fairly awful rolls on the first few. :(

Maybe the GM would let you start over? You could work with that, but it'll be harder. Then again, if you are Male, you'd get a +2d10 to Physical Str, which might help.

I'll continue for now as is and can adjust later if needed.

Yeah, the original authors didn't do a good job of proofreading that document. Sheesh.

For Observation, Shock Resistance, and Perception, those are all averages of the two stats (so divide by 2).

Observation (Willpower + Knowledge)/2
Shock Resistance (Courage + Willpower)/2
Perception (Courage + Observation)/2

@Sveta, 27 is pushing it especially if you left as a Navy LT. Ok.

Don't worry about equipment just yet. How may TS players do we have? Make sure you write a good backstory.

can I have lip reading as a skill?

I've seen 4 characters in various stages of completion.

Oh and what year will the TS game start in. I want backstory to be historically accurate

May I join the TS game? I'm a complete newbie, an this would be my first time playing, so I understand if I couldn't.
I'll pm you for the rules.

If you want to play, you can find the links to the material earlier on on the recruitment thread.

If you are looking for a game to join, you could make a character in my Boot Hill game. We have four for that one and Boot Hill is a more the merrier type of game whereas TS is best with less players.

@Cucumber Tree, it will be 1980. Jimmy Carter is president before Operation Eagle Claw. Tensions are high, the Soviets just invaded Afghanistan, the Somoza regime just fell. Brezhnev is ill.

I'll work up a background for my TS guy.

Didn't notice the links, thanks!

Thinking of a guerrilla/scout type character. I looked at an Osprey book (American Civil War Guerilla Tactics), and it mentioned some guerillas in poorer southern areas such as Louisiana, western Virginia, and the Ozarks that ambushed stragglers. I'm thinking that my character would be one of those. Open to other concepts, though.

Would you be actively a guerrilla or a former guerrilla?

Oops. Former guerilla. Should've specified that. Sorry!

I could use some help with my character. Nothing is jumping out at me. With a low charm, she's not exactly a people-person yet has a high Sociology score. I could pick World History/Current Affairs or Anthropology, and along with Photography, be an investigator, but it seems we all are.

You need to determine your years in service.

As to what skills to choose... Given your other skills, and your stats, I'd suggest Computer Science and possibly Law. You could then be a J.A.G. or a Computer Specialist tech in the military (Depending on what your MD is in). That would naturally lead to what your cover identity should be (Lawyer or Computer Science).

So if I go in the Army, with a Masters I start as a Captain and can spend 4 years to get to Major or 9 to get to Lt Col. At 35, I could do the later. How does the Military Science skill work? Do I get it as an additional skill or do I have to pick it with one of my "choice" rolls?

A concern about going with a computer science cover is it only has a 30% chance of being able to take time off.

My understanding is that you add the number of years directly to your Military or Naval Science skill. If you don't have one already, then it starts based off your General AoK skill. So, for example, if your general AoK is 35, and you spend 9 years in the military, and you don't have Military Science, then your Military Sciences is 35 (Base general AoK) + 9 = 44.

The 30% is a potential problem, although with Computer Science, you wouldn't be at all odd switching jobs regularly. :) That's pretty common. Alternately, go Legal, and be JAG officer in the Military and a Lawyer when you get out (50% get away).

Note that there appears to be a typo (big shock) in the book, as it says 'roll 100% - Charm, if greater than this, you are fired'. However, that means a high charm penalizes you (75 Charm = 26+ fired, 25 Charm = 76+ fired). I think it was supposed to be 'subtract charm from 100, if you roll higher than that, then you are fired', which would make it 75 Charm = 76+ fired, and 25 charm makes it 26+ fired.

I noticed that you wanted the background before equipment.

BH character background.:

Lucas Brill was 16 when his home state of Louisiana joined the Confederate States. Like many of his peers in Southern Louisiana, he fervently supported the Confederate cause. Wanting to do more than be a drummer boy, he joined a small civilian band of guerrillas. They hid in the woods, scouting and waiting for the enemy. At first, they ambushed stragglers. Lucas was one of their most fanatical warriors, but his faith in their cause diminished every time they killed someone defenseless. His faith completely vanished when they killed their first civilian. Lucas escaped the small band, and made his way out west to wait out the horrors of war. He explored the local area, and soon made a living as a guide.

Woot, another Louisiana boy in BH. :)

You Cajun or Redneck, son?

How many TS characters do I have? I see only one that is really complete.

fnord72 has one TS character that's done other than an alias and equipment.

AGamer70 has one TS character that's done other than an alias and equipment.

I have a TS character that's done other than equipment.

CucumberTree has a partially complete TS character

LegoGuy4492 expressed interest in a TS character, but has not created one yet.

Equipment is dependent on the mission. If all of you finish your characters, I know what to run. I am going to give it another day.

Fnord72's TS character, with background.

I have left off equipment. I also have one language that he is fluent in as undecided. I figure that I can use that as an in to mesh with the group if needed.

Busy day at work so didn't get to finish TS character and won't have time tonight. Will try at lunch tomorrow.

I will be an American computer tech. Went into Army after getting Masters. Rose to Lt Colonel then retired and joined Technical Bureau.

Dark Archive

Are there still slots in either/both games? I LOVE Top Secret and Boot Hill is fun, too!

For all those TS people here is the Campaign Thread TOP SECRET

There are opennings in Boot Hill, but TS gets to crowded with more than four players.

Needs a discussion thread.

done

Take me off the TS list, actually. I'm just going to play boot Hill

Speaking of which, how much money would my BH character get?
