Agreed, Thorn. I'm curious to see how you all feel about this combat afterwards. It is sort of unique for a variety of reasons, but the large amount of status and environmental effects are part of it.

This is mostly a tag/morning check.

I was hoping to have Sildur act after the fey had gone, my apologies, I'm still in the mindset of the block initiative we tend to use in my other games. Would it be possible to say Sildur drew his cold iron dagger in round 1?

I believe when the fey moved away from Dru he would have provoked an AoO, yes? I'll roll it now, if I'm mistaken just ignore it.

Dru snaps at the fey as it tries to reposition.

Bite - AoO - PA: 1d20 + 4 - 1 ⇒ (3) + 4 - 1 = 6
Damage: 1d4 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 + 2 = 6

Round 2

The effects of the fey poison take their toll as the mountain bear attempts to follow his opponent, his paws drag in the snow and it's all he can to keep up with the creature.

Dru :

Shaking off the toxin Sildur yells at their attackers in their own tongue.

Sylvan:
"I will see you foul creatures pay for your slaughter. Are you not content to spread your evil in the northern lands?"

The deep snow hindering his charge, Sildur moves to assist Dru.

Sildur :

You are correct on the AOO. Good catch! I am also fine with drawing the dagger last round. That is a format issue, not a problem with game mechanics. Consider it drawn.

Late day Round 2 update

Dru moves close to the Fey Attacker but is unable to do anything else because of the numbing cold.

Thorn pokes at the Fey with his hooked lance but doesn't really come close to landing a blow.

Urga moves north through the snow and lands a solid blow on the Fey creature. The Fey is staggered and appears to be injured but is still in the fight. Sildur is right, that's not a 5 foot move, but a regular move action. You should have ample movement. The important thing is that it wasn't a 5' step plus a full attack.

The fey you have been fighting yells something in it's unusual language.

Sylvan:
"Brothers, I am injured. If I fall, avenge me!"

After talking, the creature withdraws into the cover of the trees.

The fey near Dru drops its bow and draws a shortsword. It hacks at the bear with a vengeance. attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11 damage: 1d2 - 2 ⇒ (2) - 2 = 0 Dru easily avoids injury, however.

Sildur closes in on the combat between Dru and the fey.

Agatha curses the same as before? if not, let me know fey.
Will save: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 1 = 12. It succumbs to Agatha's magic and has its ability to attack reduced.

I moved Urga and Thorn back so Fey #3 could go.

Wait! I have a reroll from my chest-chunking incident! Can I use it to reroll that will save? It could save us from a tpk!

Campaign Map RoW Loot Sheet

Yeah, I didn't really expect all 3 of you to fail the will save. I do have some funny commentary about this fight that was not obvious to me when I first read it. I can talk about that after the fight is over in the discussion thread.

Round 3

Dru bites Fey #1 solidly.

Thorn & Urga continue to be mesmerized by the swirling lights.

Fey #3 takes aim at Agatha. bow attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16 The tiny arrow strikes true, embedding itself into Agatha's skin.

Agatha tries to ignore the numbing cold. Fort save, dc 11: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15. Between her natural hardiness and her magical training, Agatha easily ignores the cold. More on this in the discussion thread.

Fey #1 tries to put some distance between himself and Dru. Dru snaps at the fey as it moves away. Dru, AoO: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11 damage: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6. The fey proves to be too fast and moves away easily. After putting some distance between itself and the bear, the fey strikes back. bow attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6 damage: 1d2 - 2 ⇒ (2) - 2 = 0

Sildur moves into melee range with the fey that cast the spell. Should you be on the other side of the creature? I'm not sure when you posted your action relative to last round.

After being hit, the fey screams.

Sylvan:
"It burns! IT burns! Stop this one."

Agatha sends a bolt wide of the last fey.

The fey near Sildur tries to get away from the cold-iron weapon. AoO: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4 damage: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4 Sildur cuts nothing but air as the fey moves away. The fey returns the favor by shooting its bow at Sildur bow attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8 damage: 1d2 - 2 ⇒ (2) - 2 = 0. The high winds keep the tiny arrow from being effective and Sildur remains unscathed.

Rikael, you can certainly use your reroll if you want to. I'm going to hold at the end of round 3 here in case he elects to do so.

Round 4 mid-round update

I've gotten maps from lots of places (including making my own), so the quality varies. I'll try to add grid labels going forward.

Dru moves forward and snaps at the fey, but it proves to be too fast for the bear's jaws.

Thorn shakes and tries to keep control of his mind, to little avail.

Urga is likewise occupied by the magic of the fey.

The fey to the northeast I call this one ears because of the icon. tries to take another shot at Agatha. bow attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18 damage: 1d2 - 2 ⇒ (2) - 2 = 0 The arrow strikes true and a chill overcomes Agatha. Fort save, dc11: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13 Agatha shrugs off the chill with no problems.

The fey that Dru has been chasing lets out a sceech.

Sylvan:
"Get this furry creature off of me. I can't get a good shot off with it chasing me! "
. It flies out of combat, trying to put distance between itself and Dru/Sildur.

Aoo, Dru: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22 damage: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Aoo, Sildur: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13 damage: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5

Dru bites the leg of the fey as it moves away, causing light blue blood to spread down its leg. Once the fey moves away, it fires a shot at Dru bow attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22 damage: 1d2 - 2 ⇒ (1) - 2 = -1. The arrow does no significant damage, but transfers its chill to the bear. fort save, DC11: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16. Dru's think fur saves it from any cold effects.

I'm going to pause round 4 here because I'm not sure what Sildur would do here. There is no obvious other action I can take for him and I don't really remember where he started, so I'll let him make a choice.

Round 4

Sildur :

Sildur moves into melee combat with the fey Agatha has been fighting. He makes a slash with his dagger but the nimble creature avoids the blow.

When it hears Sildur speak its language, it replies in kind.

Sylvan:

"Don't think you can threaten us! The might of winter will crush you all!"

Agatha tries to hex the fey she has been fighting. Will, DC15: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9 The fey begins to doubt itself and defends less effectively. -2 ac for 7 rounds.

The last of the fey takes aim at Dru. Bow Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14 damage: 1d2 - 2 ⇒ (1) - 2 = -1. The bear's thick fur and movement protect it from any further damage, however.

Finally, Rikael continues to be mesmerized by the fey's magic.

Campaign Map RoW Loot Sheet

Sure, I'll do the start of round 5. It is a slow day for me today

Round 5 begin

Dru chases after the fey and tries to bite it. The creature proves to be too elusive and escapes any damage.

Thorn and Urga continue to be stymied by the fey's magic. Thorn recovers from the worst of the magic, now being only stunned and blind for 1d4 ⇒ 1 rounds.

Fey #3 The one at N1 shouts to his comrades.
