About Rikael Ashenstone

Traits:

Fortified Drinker: Benefit: Whenever you imbibe any alcoholic beverage, you gain a +2 trait bonus on saves against mind-affecting effects for 1 hour.

Alternate Racial Trait- Dual Minded: The mixed ancestry of some half-elves makes them resistant to mental attacks. Half-elves with this racial trait gain a +2 bonus on all Will saving throws. This racial trait replaces the adaptability racial trait.

Campaign Trait- Restless Wayfarer: You have long led a nomadic life—perhaps because your parents were travelers (whether roaming Varisian caravaneers or traveling merchants who traded far and wide), you belonged to a nomadic tribe, or you ran away from home to discover the world at a young age. Some call it wanderlust, but to you the thought of new places and experiences is truly what makes life worth living, and no region catches your imagination like the windswept wilderness of the North. You are used to getting along in unfamiliar lands and interacting with interesting new people. You gain a +1 trait bonus on Knowledge (geography) and Knowledge (local) checks, and one of these skills (your choice) is a class skill for you. You can also speak one additional language (this does not count toward your number of languages).

Class Abilities:

Crowd Control (Ex): At 1st level, an urban barbarian gains a +1 bonus on attack rolls and a +1 dodge bonus to AC when adjacent to two or more enemies. In addition, her movement is not impeded by crowds, and she gains a bonus equal to 1/2 her barbarian level on Intimidate checks to influence crowds.
This ability replaces fast movement.

Controlled Rage (Ex): When an urban barbarian rages, instead of making a normal rage she may apply a +4 morale bonus to her Strength, Dexterity, or Constitution. This bonus increases to +6 when she gains greater rage and +8 when she gains mighty rage. She may apply the full bonus to one ability score or may split the bonus between several scores in increments of +2. When using a controlled rage, an urban barbarian gains no bonus on Will saves, takes no penalties to AC, and can still use Intelligence-, Dexterity-, and Charisma-based skills. This ability otherwise follows the normal rules for rage.

Rage (Ex): A barbarian can call upon inner reserves of strength and ferocity, granting her additional combat prowess. Starting at 1st level, a barbarian can rage for a number of rounds per day equal to 4 + her Constitution modifier. At each level after 1st, she can rage for 2 additional rounds. Temporary increases to Constitution, such as those gained from rage and spells like bear's endurance, do not increase the total number of rounds that a barbarian can rage per day. A barbarian can enter rage as a free action. The total number of rounds of rage per day is renewed after resting for 8 hours, although these hours do not need to be consecutive.

While in rage, a barbarian gains a +4 morale bonus to her Strength and Constitution, as well as a +2 morale bonus on Will saves. In addition, she takes a –2 penalty to Armor Class. The increase to Constitution grants the barbarian 2 hit points per Hit Dice, but these disappear when the rage ends and are not lost first like temporary hit points. While in rage, a barbarian cannot use any Charisma-, Dexterity-, or Intelligence-based skills (except Acrobatics, Fly, Intimidate, and Ride) or any ability that requires patience or concentration.

A barbarian can end her rage as a free action and is fatigued after rage for a number of rounds equal to 2 times the number of rounds spent in the rage. A barbarian cannot enter a new rage while fatigued or exhausted but can otherwise enter rage multiple times during a single encounter or combat. If a barbarian falls unconscious, her rage immediately ends, placing her in peril of death.

Uncanny Dodge (Ex):At 2nd level, a barbarian gains the ability to react to danger before her senses would normally allow her to do so. She cannot be caught flat-footed, nor does she lose her Dex bonus to AC if the attacker is invisible. She still loses her Dexterity bonus to armor class if immobilized. A barbarian with this ability can still lose her Dexterity bonus to armor class if an opponent successfully uses the feint action against her.

Trap Sense (Ex):At 3rd level, a barbarian gains a +1 bonus on Reflex saves made to avoid traps and a +1 dodge bonus to armor class against attacks made by traps. These bonuses increase by +1 every three barbarian levels thereafter (6th, 9th, 12th, 15th, and 18th level). Trap sense bonuses gained from multiple classes stack.

Backstory

Rikael was found orphaned on the streets in Andoran as a small child, though he doesn't remember it. He was quickly adopted by a pair of human merchants from Varisia, who travelled all over Golarion selling from city to city. Their current stock was always what the city they just left had cheap, and their destination was always a place where it was scarce, and expensive. They tried as hard as they could to teach Rikael about the merchant life, but he was always more interested in stories of heroes, great battles, and legendary swordsmen.

When he started growing older, he would spend his time in cities learning whatever martial skills he could in the short time his parents would spend there, usually only a few days. Over the years, this led to him having a strange array of skills, like wielding a rapier, throwing chakrams, and wearing whatever armor was convenient for his surroundings.

He picked up his worship of Cayden Cailean in a tavern one night, after he lost a drinking contest to a priest of Cayden. The tenants, the lifestyle, the drinking and women suited him, and he already used a rapier as his main weapon, almost exclusively. It was just... something about that priest that made him feel comfortable worshipping the drunken god, and he carries that ease of faith with him today.

He traveled with his adoptive parents for years, until they were old and feeble, and even then he stayed with them in the city they retired to (Varisia) until they passed. After that, he set out on his own, continuing their nomadic ways, but adventuring instead of peddling. He usually picked up jobs as a caravan guard, which led to even more unofficial training in strange fighting styles, and eclectic weapons and martial knowledge.

Perhaps his most valuable ability in battle, though, is his natural ability to enter a sort of combat trance for a short time, in which his skills immediately visibly improve. None of his teachers had seen anything like it, save one. An Ulfen warrior told him about the raging warriors of his homeland, and showed him how to further make use of his unique ability, because it was very similar to "Ulfen Battlerage" as the big, hairy man called it.

Rikael travelled for almost five years like this, though he never stopped yearning for a great adventure, one like the stories he read as a child. He recently has stopped in Heldren, having just ended a job bodygaurding a merchant selling scrimshaw from Riddleport.

Appearance:
Rikael stands 6'0" tall, and weighs 175 lbs. He is more muscular than most half elves, and is never without a flask of some kind of alcoholic beverage in his flask. This, he proclaims, is his holy water. He has ebony black hair, and a small goatee.

Rikael is boisterous in battle, taunting his enemies and performing dazzling acts of derring do, while using his strength to skewer his enemies on the end of his blade, no matter how much armor they wear.

Rikael's Prayer
This here's a tribute the god
Of the most holy ale!
And if you've got a drink
Then sit to hear the tale!
For he strode into the star stone
But remembers not the night
Perhaps there was a riddle,
Or mighten been an epic fight!
But by time he had emerged,
He'd woken with new power
But by the smell of ale
He still needed a shower!
To this day he blesses the faithful,
Be they drunk, sober, or fools
And if we pass out from the prayin',
Sit us back on our stools!
