Shadow Lodge

Haha! nice touch with the resurrection quip Kayla. Btw, I had your total health at 39. Did I miss something?

Female Aasimar Cleric / 1

My character sheet has it as 32, though it's entirely possible I added up something wrong. I will not be the one to help my kids with their math homework.

Shadow Lodge

I think you forgot to add your CON. Mark it down as 39. Hopefully the meatshields can keep you alive 8)

Male Elf Monk 2/Ninja 4

Concentrating his ki to his legs, Shinami and the mass of shadow clones converged onto the nearest assassin.

I need to stop him from swinging again, Raleigh doesn't look like he can take much more of that.

"I have this one! Osslend! Fancy a little assassin flank here for your pets?"

Reaching out, Shinami loops his arm around the assassin's sword arm and wrenches it down and behind him in an arm lock.

Crunch:
Spent 1 Ki to increase movement by 20 ft. 5/7 Ki left.
Grapple attempt 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (10) + 10 = 20

Shadow Lodge

You can make that move without spending a ki point...did you want to take that back? I won't always let you do that, but I figure you deserve a bit of a break for being new.

Shinami wrenches the man's arm, but he was ready. He follows the motion into a front flip and emerges no worse for where, ungrappled and ready to fight.

Female (for now) Human 6 Barbarian

Brynn comes out from behind his shield and hones in on the assassin that just cut Raleigh, drawing his warhammer during his lunge in.

Crunch:
Full-round action: Charge to J6 while drawing masterwork warhammer, Power attacking assassin in J5.

Atk: 1d20 + 11 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 11 + 2 + 2 = 24 (Charge + flanking)
Dmg: 1d8 + 9 ⇒ (5) + 9 = 14

Shadow Lodge

Big basher Brynn bludgeons the nimble ninja nastily!

Couldn't help myself, sorry.

Bryce is relieved when the assailants first, most dangerous, attack does not leave any of his comrades bleeding on the ground. He looks carefully for the best opening.

That was their best chance. Now they go down fast.

Will post action when I get home and can access the map.

M Human Level 6 Cavalier (Houndmaster)

Osslend's eyes go wide and he screams in rage as he watches the blood of his smaller hound paint the floor. His volume is rivaled only by that of Virgil who bays to the ceiling as he lunges at the man who attacked his kin.

Suddenly, Osslend's howl ceases as he strides a few steps across the room, waving Raleigh away.

"Maedoc, keep him safe," he says.

Nodding first to Virgil and then looking to the attacker, Osslend says quietly, "You will suffer his wound ten-fold."

Virgil's jaws seek the man's knee while Osslend's flail careens toward his head.

Hound Crunch:

Raleigh five-foot steps and then uses a move action to move to relative safety near Maedoc.

Virgil moves next to Brynn, now flanking with Osslend and snaps out at the man.
Bite Attack: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (13) + 9 = 22
Bite Damage: 2d6 + 3 ⇒ (1, 2) + 3 = 6
CMB versus CMD Trip: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10

Osslend Crunch:

Osslend moves through Raleigh's square and then up to avoid AoO to gain flanking with Virgil.

Attack: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (20) + 14 = 34
Damage: 1d10 + 5 + 1d6 ⇒ (3) + 5 + (5) = 13

Crit threat!:

Crit confirm: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (12) + 14 = 26
If confirmed, damage equals another: 1d10 + 5 ⇒ (6) + 5 = 11

Shadow Lodge

Osslend and Virgil move with practiced and deadly purpose. Virgil bites the man's leg and he grunts: the first sound these foes have made.

Turning to face Osslend, the warrior sees a critical blow incoming. His eyes narrow and at the last second, he turns into the blow. It breaks the ninja's armor, but he protects him from the worst of the blow.

The crit was negated, sorry Osslend.

Male Half-Elf Wizard 5

Working without the map right now; feel free to modify things appropriately for this round (in the interest of keeping things moving).

Maedoc nods as Osslend sends Raleigh toward him. Best offense is a good defense, sometimes. Perhaps I can distract them at least... Moving carefully so as to not dislodge Garrick from his privileged position on the hawking glove, Maedoc reaches into his spell pouch and pulls out a small. Carefully tearing it open, Maedoc blows on the powder, sending it toward the ninjas. As the powder reaches the nearest ninja, it coagulates into an oddly spongy sphere of fiery doom.

Crunch:

Maedoc's AC is 17
Flaming Sphere is in effect for the next 7 rounds.

Maedoc:
Standard Action: Flaming Sphere on the nearest ninja. Then ninja gets a DC18 reflex save. If he makes it, he takes no fire damage. If not, he takes the damage noted below.
Fire Damage: 3d6 ⇒ (5, 6, 5) = 16

Tentatively holding position right now.

Bryce puts his body between Kayla and the assassins, and attacks with a low controlled swing of his sword.

Crunch:
Move to G7. Attack ninja in F6. Attack: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 26; damage 2d6 + 4 ⇒ (2, 5) + 4 = 11

Shadow Lodge

A ball of animated fire expands into being in K5!

Reflex Save 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (16) + 9 = 25

It rolls into the ninja in J5 but he is able to keep it from burning him.
_________

Bryce rushes to Kayla's aid and opens a gash in her attacker's leg!

NPC ROUND 2

One of the warriors steps up to Bryce while another dives under his reach!

Acrobatics 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (18) + 12 = 30
Acrobatics 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (17) + 12 = 29

Seeing that they have an advantage, the two ninjas attack Bryce without mercy.

Sneak Attack from Flanking! 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (4) + 9 = 13 for 1d8 + 3d6 + 2 ⇒ (8) + (3, 2, 3) + 2 = 18
Sneak Attack from Flanking! 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (7) + 9 = 16 for 1d8 + 3d6 + 2 ⇒ (1) + (4, 6, 6) + 2 = 19

However, Bryce's instincts take over and he is able to defend against the viscous attack.
___

The third ninja, seeing himself surrounded, dives backward to avoid a beating.

Acrobatics 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (15) + 12 = 27
Acrobatics 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (4) + 12 = 16

The agile warrior is able to avoid Brynn's mighty cleaver but Shinami is too quick for him. Shinami, you get an attack of opportunity. You may hit him, disarm or trip.

Shadow Lodge

Sorry I didn't mention it, The third ninja's escape from Brynn, got him away from Osslend and Virgil too since it was the same square.

Shadow Lodge

I'm so scatter brained right now...

Crown's Reach Round 2

Male Elf Monk 2/Ninja 4

Can't you attempt a grapple at any time you can hit, even in AOO's? This is the AOO roll

Seeing the enemy ninja attempt to flee, Shinami reaches to grab the sash as the ninja starts his backflip.

Crunch:
1d20 + 10 ⇒ (2) + 10 = 12

Holy crap I fail at grappling

M Human Level 6 Cavalier (Houndmaster)

Seeing the assassin twist away, Osslend strides toward him, going behind Shinami. If he listens carefully, Shinami will hear Osslend speaking in low tones, as though to the assassin he is approaching. He hears something akin to, "If my dog dies, your corpse will..."

As he approaches the assassin, but before attacking, Osslend shouts a command to Virgil, who whines in protest but obeys his master.

Osslend launches at the man, full-tilt with his flail, never breaking his stride until the chain is in motion.

Virgil lunges to the side of one of the assassins attacking Bryce. He tears at the man's ankle hoping to bring him down.

Crunch:

Raleigh remains still, nursing his wounds. Virgil attacks ninja in G6, Osslend in H3.

Virgil:
Attack:1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
Damage:1d6 + 3 ⇒ (6) + 3 = 9
Trip:1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17

Osslend:
Attack:1d20 + 10 ⇒ (2) + 10 = 12
Damage:1d10 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12

Shadow Lodge

Shinami, a grapple is a standard action and therefore cannot be performed on an attack or opportunity. Only maneuvers that can be made in place of a melee attack can be made on an AoO. Your still have your turn though, you can now move and grapple him if you want/can 8)

Having slipped out of Shinami's reach, the lone ninja has no trouble evading Osslend's wild, angry blow.
____

Virgil pads over to help Bryce, but the warrior hears him coming and lifts his foot in time to avoid the dog's jaws.

Female (for now) Human 6 Barbarian

Brynn charges in with the same exact motion as before, warhammer in its wind-up swing. Not cleaver, or else it'd be dead already :P

Crunch:
Charge to H4, Power attacking H3.

Atk: 1d20 + 11 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 11 + 2 = 32 (+ Charge)
Dmg: 1d8 + 9 ⇒ (2) + 9 = 11

Male Elf Monk 2/Ninja 4

Well, I'll take that bet and try again.

Osslend and Brynn seem to have this assassin handled... Looks like Bryce could use some backup...

Shinami attempts to blindside the enemy ninja threatening Bryce and goes in to constrict his throat from behind.

Crunch:
1d20 + 10 ⇒ (11) + 10 = 21 Not sure if flanking does anything here?

Shadow Lodge

Brynn brings his hammer to bare once again and though the ninja tries his best to block, the big barbarian is just too powerful to stop and the hammer cracks a few ribs.

Meanwhile, Shinami stalks behind a new opponent and wraps his forearm around the warrior's unsuspecting throat.

You'll need to make a successful grapple next round to pin, once that's done, you can choke him out if you wish.

Female Aasimar Cleric / 1

Kalya murmmurs, "Thank you Bryce." As she takes a step back away from the ninjas that he has just engaged. She then attempts to cast a spell upon the ninja to their left. I really hope this works.

crunch:
5 ft step to I7. Cast Hold Person on ninja in G8, dc 17.

Shadow Lodge

Will Save 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7

The ninja's eyes go wide in horror as his body becomes rigid. He can no longer move!

Female Aasimar Cleric / 1

Yay, most successful spell I've cast yet in a fight. :)

Shadow Lodge

That's a spell that makes the GM feel sad and defeated. "All my hard work! NOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!" And then I remember that ya'll are supposed to win if you act smart. Good job Kayla.

Male Half-Elf Wizard 5

Maedoc concentrates for a moment and moves the fireball after a ninja by force of will. Thinking quickly, he mutters a quick phrase, creating a soft blue light that moves from his hand to Garrick's talon. "Go now, to Shinami," Maedoc mutters in the strange clucking language that he uses with his familiar. I hope that Kayla knows how to take advantage of this...

Garrick flies quickly over to Kayla, touching her for the briefest instant and causing her to disappear.

Munch Crunch:

Maedoc's AC is 17
Flaming Sphere lasts for 6 more rounds.
Kayla is invisible for 5 more rounds.

Maedoc:
Move Action: Move the Flaming Sphere from J5 down to J8, then to G8. Ninja in G8 gets a DC18 reflex save. If he makes it, he takes no fire damage. If not, he takes the damage noted below.
Fire Damage: 3d6 ⇒ (5, 5, 2) = 12
*cheers for paralysis penalties*

Standard Action: Cast Vanish for Garrick to deliver. (per familiar Deliver Touch Spells ability)

Garrick:
Move Action: Fly from M7 to J7.
Standard Action: Use Vanish on Kayla.

Hopefully this helps defensively.

Shadow Lodge

Damn you are versatile...woot!

Reflex Save 1d20 - 5 ⇒ (12) - 5 = 7

The ninja is engulfed in flame! Those looking closely can see a single tear slide down the same horrified face, still paralyzed.

I'll post round 3 after Bryce. It'll probably be after 10 am pacific time tomorrow.

Female Aasimar Cleric / 1

Kayla almost felt sorry enough to pull him out of the fire, until she remembered he almost killed her just seconds ago.

"Think nothing of it, Kayla," Bryce murmurs in return, not looking round. He had barely evaded the blades of the assailants, only a sideways twist and hasty duck keeping him from harm. His return blow is overhead and vicious.

Crunch:
No movement. Attack whichever ninja is NOT held. Power attack: 1d20 + 8 - 2 ⇒ (12) + 8 - 2 = 18; damage 2d6 + 4 + 4 ⇒ (6, 5) + 4 + 4 = 19

Shadow Lodge

Hey Bryce, I'm looking at your character sheet and I think you missed some stuff on that last attack. Your sword is masterwork and you're flanking so your attack bonus should be 3 higher for a total of 21. Also, at this level, power attack is giving you a plus 6 to damage I think.

Bryce counters decisively, scoring a gaping cut in his opponent. Ninja in G6 takes 21 damage.

NPC ROUND 3

Will Save 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4

The paralyzed ninja, remains paralyzed.

The ninja in G6 and H3 roll away from their adversaries and disappear again!

Acrobatics 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (15) + 12 = 27
Acrobatics 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (16) + 12 = 28
Acrobatics 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (17) + 12 = 29
Acrobatics 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (16) + 12 = 28

Crown's Reach Round 3

Shadow Lodge

I'm sorry. It has come to my attention that one of the ninja's was grappled by our very own Shinami Genbu. I'll be redoing his action.

Escape Artist 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (7) + 12 = 19

Shinami's opponent tries to spring away but the envoy is able to hold him still.

Ninja stays! The one by Brynn still got away however.

Crown's Reach Round 3

Have at it guys

Male Elf Monk 2/Ninja 4

"Where do you think you're going fool! You're stuck with us. I'm sure my friends here would like to introduce you to sharp pointy things for what you've done to Kayla and Raleigh" Shinami yelled as he kept his grip on the struggling ninja. Bending his foe backwards, Shinami did a sharp blow to the kidneys before kicking his knees out from behind to force him to kneel.

Don't forget that if you get grappled, your ninjas have -4 to Dexterity. Also, autocrit only happens on helpless, not pinned characters sadly! Pinned is just flat footed and an additional -4 to AC

Crunch:
Maintain grapple (+5 circumstance roll since he didn't break the grapple) 1d20 + 10 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 10 + 5 = 29
Strangler damage 2d6 ⇒ (2, 5) = 7
If maintained, pinned.

Right on all counts! Thanks DSP - I didn't have the map up on my ipad so didn't spot the flank, used attack bonus from my dagger, not mwk greatsword, and forgot about the 1.5 to power attack from a 2h weapon. Cheers :)

Bryce stands very still, eyes briefly closed, and tries to hear footfalls over the surge of blood in his ears.

Perception: 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (12) + 13 = 25

Shadow Lodge

Thank you Shinami!

The ninja in Shinami's grasp makes a desperate attempt to get away, but Shinami restrains him and makes him pay with a shot to the ribs. Then, he forces the unfortunate wretch to his knees.

Meanwhile, Bryce focuses on faint, unseen sounds. He hears the table creak in the middle, but the doesn't seem to be anyone there.

You hear movement at D6

Bryce drops his sword, spins on his heel, and launches himself forward. A bounding leap sees him flying over the table, arms stretched out wide, into thin air with no enemy in sight.

Crunch:
Attempting a charging / grapply / bullrush type combat maneuver that I don't have the rules-fu to describe in mechanical terms. Basically, have jumped to the conclusion that a ninja is standing invisible in the centre of the table, and am trying a sort of flying rugby tackle at their knee height. Help! What should I roll?

Shadow Lodge

On a charge, you can only do a Maneuver that can take the place of a melee attack. In this case, bull rush would work. However, you could opt to just move and then grapple but that wouldn't be as cool: and hey, Bryce has already done this kind of thing once. Besides, however you hit him, he comes off invisability. Or does he?

Female (for now) Human 6 Barbarian

Brynn blinks as the assassin in front of him vanishes and decides to go for the one enemy he can see: the grappled one a few feet away. Moving strategically to make sure he stays in place, Brynn goes in for a careful swing, making sure not to hit Shinami.

Crunch:
Move action: G4, F5, F6 to flank with Virgil

Standard action: Power attack G6
Atk: 1d20 + 11 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 11 + 2 = 26 (+ Flanking)
Dmg: 1d8 + 9 ⇒ (5) + 9 = 14

I always get confused about grappling/pinned/wtfever bonuses, so I just added my flanking.

Shadow Lodge

Brynn saunters over and lines up a careful shot to the same ribs Shinami just punished. A second later, there is a sickening crack and a pitiful grunt from the ninja as several ribs splinter to pieces.

Let's go for a charging bullrush then. I'll maybe grab him next round if he's more visible. So combat maneuver roll at +2 for charging: 1d20 + 8 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 8 + 2 = 23

Male Half-Elf Wizard 5

Pleased that Garrick has completed his task, and that Kayla is safe for now, Maedoc focuses his attention on the visible, unparalyzed ninja. Best to do what I can now... he thinks as he focuses on the ninja's weapon. Not likely that I'll have a use for this later. He breathes out a fiery word, and watches in satisfaction as the ninja's weapon glows red hot.

Crunch:

Maedoc's AC is 17
Flaming Sphere lasts for 5 more rounds.
Kayla is invisible for 4 more rounds

Maedoc:
Standard Action: Burning Disarm against the Ninja in G6. If the ninja makes a DC16 reflex save, then he can drop his weapon and take no damage. If he doesn't make the save, then he takes the fire damage noted below.
Fire Damage: 5d4 ⇒ (4, 3, 3, 3, 2) = 15

Flaming Sphere is still sitting on the paralyzed ninja in G8. The ninja gets a DC18 reflex save. If he makes it, he takes no fire damage. If not, he takes the damage noted below.
Fire Damage: 3d6 ⇒ (4, 5, 1) = 10

Shadow Lodge

Bryce lays out across the table, hoping the hit anything that may be lurking there. His should colides with what feels like a human torso! Immediately, the ninja reappears and flies backward off the table!
_______________

Will Save to break paralysis 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5 Fail

The paralyzed ninja continues to cook!

Reflex Save 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20

The grappled ninja appears as though he'd like to stick his sword between Shinami's ribs. However, Maedoc springs into action. The sword glows red and the ninja drops it to the ground where it sizzles the carpet.

Ninja Round 4 happens tomorrow for I am drunk and need to sleep!

Female Aasimar Cleric / 1

Hopefully you remembered to drink plenty of water before laying down.

Kayla retreats back to where Maedoc is and readies to cast one of her few remaining spells should one of the assasins make it back to them.

Question: Would channeling energy render Kayla visible again?

Male Half-Elf Wizard 5

Per the text for Invisibility (vanish being a shorter version of invis), it looks like it would render her visible if the ninjas are included in the area of effect. Not sure offhand how that interacts with Selective Channeling, though.

Female Aasimar Cleric / 1

Depending upon our DM's ruling on that then, I may wish to change actions. If you rule that with selective channeling it won't break my invisibility, Kayla will move to L6 and channel energy to finish healing herself and the puppy since she is out of healing spells.

crunch:
3d6 + 5 ⇒ (6, 1, 3) + 5 = 15

Shadow Lodge

As i understand it, only agressive actions will break invisability. Therefore, Kayla channels energy effectively.

NPCing Osslend and CO.

Virgil goes in for a tasty bite of ninja!

Attack 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7 for 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7

Restrained though he is, the ninja manages to avoid the dog's jaws a second time.
______

Osslend strides across the room, "Now hold still!"

Attack 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (9) + 10 = 19 for 1d10 + 5 ⇒ (9) + 5 = 14

Osslend lines up a careful swing and crushes the grappled ninja's head, sending grey matter spewing all over Shinami, Brynn, Osslend, and Virgil.

Osslend stands still, panting slightly, Obviously satisfied by avenging Raleigh.

Shadow Lodge

Ninja Round 4

Will Save 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 1 = 10 Again, fail!

The paralyzed ninja remains so.
____

Across the room, Bryce may have bit off more than he could chew! The ninja was ready for his wild charge.

Bull Rush without the Imp. feat provokes AoO 1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 7 + 1 = 19 for 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7

The wound is not bad, but it leaves Bryce distracted and open for another attack!

Bryce is now flat footed against the ninjas until the start of their next turn

Sneak Attack! 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26 for 1d8 + 3d6 + 2 ⇒ (7) + (4, 4, 3) + 2 = 20

Critical Confirmation! 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12 for 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5 NO CRIT! Bryce takes 27 total damage this round.

Pleased to see his attack hit, the ninja slides away, too fast for Bryce to react.

He has a feat that allows a modified withdraw after a sucessful sneak attack. Plus, he spent a Ki point to increase his movement.

Ninja moves to G3

Once he reaches the original point of entry, he leaps. Another pair of dark-clad hands reach down to catch his!

Jump 1d20 + 12 + 20 ⇒ (2) + 12 + 20 = 34

As the party stands blinking, one of the ninjas escapes!

Crown's Reach Round 4

Female (for now) Human 6 Barbarian

How high up is the ceiling and what is it made of? Particularly around the place where they dropped in. Is sunder ceiling a feat I should need for what I've got cooking?

Shadow Lodge

Lol! Ceiling is 9 feet tall. How tall is Brynn? Don't forget you are fatigued. I just remembered...

I'm 6'1", sword is 5'2", sounds good to me :) Also, I shouldn't be fatigued from rage from earlier. Only lasts twice as long as I raged for (which should only be for less than two minutes).

I'll be making the swings in a little bit, gonna grab some lunch.

Shadow Lodge

Ok. You describe your actions and make me some sunder attempts. Just roll normally and I'll make necessary adjustments. Just had to make life difficult, huh? 8)
