Zanaver Silverkin |
Zanaver allows Garox to step into the stone corridor first to spot any traps lying in wait. Though Zanaver still acts as a forward scout moving alongside Garox but staying about 5 feet away
"Garox, do you spot anything out of the ordinary?"
Pitbull |
Pitbull also falls up to the front and smells the air.
Aything picked up via the Scent ability?
Grigori Yefimovich |
Backtracking a bit; another post to come soon.
After Valandil points out the crypt symbols, "Indeed Nesterok. They must be very old Pharasmin symbols, altered from their modern usage."
GM checks as requested:
Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13
Knowledge(religion): 10 + 5 = 15
Grigori Yefimovich |
Fr. Yefimovich gazes in awe around the cavernous cathedral. He is intrigued by Valandil's revelation about the seven Runelords. "How strange. It seems as though they were worshiped alongside my Lady of Graves... as if they were gods themselves."
As he ponders this while moving down the corridor, it leaves a bitter distaste in his mouth.
"I would certainly like to return here, to more thoroughly examine the statues. Perhaps there is a more convenient way to get down to the main floor of the cathedral." As they reach the intersection, he waves his hands to indicate where they might lead, "One of these other passages, perhaps."
GM checks as requested:
Knowledge(religion): 10 + 5 = 15
Knowledge(history): 10 = 10 10 is my max (untrained)
I am surmising that the black statue is of Pharasma? Since there are seven white statues, and seven Runelords. Also, black is kinda Pharasma's color.
Garox Fang |
Unless the GM tells me otherwise
"No traps so far, but that thudding. Something will be around the corner. Get ready."
Grigori Yefimovich |
Grigori peeks around the corner to observe the creature. If he knows what it might be, he whispers to the others what he thinks.
Does Grigori know what it is?
Knowledge(religion): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15
Valandil Anwamanë |
Valandil also looks around the corner.
know-religion: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (11) + 9 = 20
I assume the 'head' is on our side of the wooden door, and it is trying to get to the other side.
"Could this be a trap?" he asks quietly.
"Perhaps it would be best to deal with it from a distance, if we all attack with missile fire, we can probably eliminate it without much risk."
He still looks up the other way, to make sure nothing is approaching from the left.
perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15
Nesterok |
After Valandil said that the flying head was a zombi Nesterok tried to remember from which creature it came from.
Know. Planes: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9
Nesterok draw his falchion, ready for the creature.
Zanaver Silverkin |
Zanaver creeps to the corner near the door, and says in a low whisper
"I'll open this door unseen, when it comes out you guys blast it away"
Very carefully, Zanaver slowly he extends his kama forward and hooks the blade under the handle and pulls up. He backs away with the rest of the group.
Grigori Yefimovich |
Grigori stands ready, but whispers "But, why does it bang itself on that door repeatedly? Mindless? Or does it want something on the other side?"
While Zanaver sneaks, Grigori takes that moment to observe anything else of interest with the head creature.
Anything of note about the head creature? Guess not, lol:
Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Garox Fang |
Garox nods to the suggestion. He will rush the flying head and cut it with his short sword when everyone attacks it at the same time.
Valandil Anwamanë |
When everyone is ready, Valandil kicks off with a summoned globe of acid.
ranged touch: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11
damage: 1d3 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
Zanaver Silverkin |
Zanaver steps forward and swings his Kama down on the creature accompanied by a swing of his fist
He is making a free action 5 ft step and then using flurry of blows
Attack Roll with Kama: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 1 = 15
DMG: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Attack roll with fist: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9
DMG: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3
Garox Fang |
Garox charges at the flying zombie.
charge: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (12) + 6 = 18
shortsword dmg: 2d6 ⇒ (1, 6) = 7
GM Crash |
Zanaver, you were actually 15 ft away. If you were 5 ft away, you would have been in the room with the thing and it would have turned around and attacked you. I'll accept the first attack with your kama since that was the only one that connected though, so you can deal 4 damage to it. :)
I made it so that you guys should be able to move your characters around on the map.
11 damage total dealt so far. :)
Grigori Yefimovich |
"Guide and protect the ally of your humble servant, o Knower of the Fates" The priest traces a spiral over his heart as he prays to his deity for guidance. He steps up to Pitbull and, looking first for her approval, Fr. Yefimovich touches her upper back gently in blessing.
Grigori casts guidance on Pitbull. If she has a problem with being touched, then Garox is the target (being in melee and nearer to Grigori than Zanaver), followed by Zanaver as third choice.
Pitbull |
Pitbull takes the guidance and charges.
Attack 1d20 + 5 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 5 + 2 + 1 = 22
Damage 2d4 + 6 ⇒ (3, 1) + 6 = 10
GM Crash |
Valandil shoots an acid orb over the flying zombie's head.
The zombie stupidly looks up at it.
Zanaver advances on it and slashes it with his kama.
Garox charges at it and strikes it with his shortsword.
Grigori casts guidance on Pitbull.
Pibull charges the zombie and knocks it out of the air.
Combat over before it could react.:)
The rest of the party advance into the area the zombie was in and look around. This long chamber is decorated with large carvings of religious ceremonies and priests handing down judgments to the common people. Stone benches are lined up before a podium at the southern end of the room. A single wooden door stands in the northeastern wall.
What would you like to do?
Pitbull |
"May as well see why it wanted to get through the door" Pitbull suggests.
Valandil Anwamanë |
Valandil again shows off his impressive knowledge. takes ten for 19 on the carvings He takes out a note book and starts to note some of the variances between current and historical representations.
"This is not the first time I've seen modern religious norms differ from older styles."
Garox Fang |
"This place get's creepier by the second. I mean, flying zombie heads, what the F man!"
Valandil Anwamanë |
"Maybe it was some type of guardian. Though an odd one. The lady of bones abhores the undead. I suspect there is something very, very wrong down here."
He looks at the door. "Anyone listened at that yet?"
Garox Fang |
"Allow me"
Graxus says as he lays his ear to the door and inspects it for traps at the same time.
listen perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19
Taking 20 for traps for 29 total
Garox Fang |
Garox gently knocks at the door.
"Hellooo? Whoever is in there, we got rid the the flying zombie head. It is safe to come out."
Garox Fang |
To the others Garox says
"It seems we have a little scaredy cat behind the door who won't come out."
Garox tries to open the door and if that fails Garox uses his tools to open it.
disable device: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (14) + 11 = 25
Valandil Anwamanë |
Valandil advances on the door.
"Hello the other side. We are here to rescue you. Unbar the door in the name of the lady of bones."
Garox Fang |
"Look if you don't open the door we have to break it down. then you will not be able to hide again once we leave."
intimidate: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20
Zanaver Silverkin |
"It seems we are left with only one option"
Zanaver becoming impatient, walks past Garox and attempts to force the door with a crowbar. He grunts with effort as the crowbar pulls at the wood
Force Door: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22
Garox Fang |
"Fine! Pitbull, would you please break the door apart?"
GM Crash |
With one great pull, Zanaver is able to force it open the door. As soon as the door pops open however, a magical darkness appears again, engulfing the party.
Garox Fang |
"Blast! Is it another one of those hats with tentacles?!"
Garox yells as he waves his sap around his head, hoping not to get engulfed by one.
Valandil Anwamanë |
"Pull back from the darkness. I't can't last for long."
Calls out Valandil.
"We really do need to find out what is happening down here, and this is the first good clue."
Zanaver Silverkin |
Zanaver stows away the crowbar just as he hears the whimper. His head fixiating on its origin. He holds his fists ready, peering into the darkness that had settled on the party eerily.
"Shhhh! Listen..did you hear that? What was that?"
Perception test: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (14) + 9 = 23
Pitbull |
Seems like it's just something that wants out of here, don't reckon anything that scared is the cause of the problem Pitbull reports to the group. Oi you, what you doing in here? she holds her sword, but doesn't wave it threateningly. she repeats the message in the guttural harshness that is the orcish tongue.
Valandil Anwamanë |
Once out of the darkness, Valandil tries a number of languages to see if the creature will respond.
"In the name of Pharasma we mean you no harm." he repeats in Common (Taldane), Elven, Celestial, Draconic, Gnome, Orc and Sylvan. Each time he will pause to see if there is an answer.
