"Did you bring enough rocks?" Akumu stares at Gigantos Mutatus.

"I can create the mist around me only." He adds a warning, "You won't be able to see out of it. Unless you stand at the edges, maybe it is possible. I've never tried, because I've always been able to see through it."

He gives the group a cyptic smile. "I can see through almost everything. Those black patches down there?"He gestures at the deeper darkness Weaver left. "They hold no mystery to me."

"If you wish me to provide such cover, Lieutenant Ynja, then my place is with the ranged combatants. I have other supportive magics, besides these." He looks at his claws and gives a slight smile.

"I was thinking more cover as we cross bad land; should we come under fire it would give us chance to get out from it."

She looked at the two headed gient.

"To be honest I have no idea what the thudder is. So your rocks may be needed to take them out"

She seemed happy that Akumu was takingoing the task of organizing them.

"As long as your mist is of the standard variety Akumu, I might be able to make due for a short time, and maybe even create my own as the righteous god Aegirran has blessed me with just a modicum of his divine power."

"That being said, I might not look like it."

Celeste states as she flexes her various muscles.

"But I am actually fairly sneaky when it counts."

"I do prefer to be able to get my....opponents within reach of these."

She says patting the pommels of her blades.

As the others talked she thought better of telling them what to do. This was her first time in a battle. Up until now she had done little more than spy hunting and two patrols. The rest of the time she had been on HQs staff. What the hells was she doing in a trench just about to leed a asolt. Her best hope was to let her team sort out what was needed and hope to the gods she did not mess up.

"When you have everyone ready Akumu we can start"

Was that a slight quiver in her voice, fear she had to get that under controll. Not show the troops. Akumu had some how defalted to her second. He just seemed more capable.

"Blend in with t'e riff-raff, huh? I tink I can manage," Craven says with a too-wide smile. "I'll get up front with Akumu and see if I can sniff up t'e trouble, 'less you need more shooters." His eyes focus on Ynja as they change into yellow tiger-eye, and he drops the affection for a silky voice. Lifting his crossbow, "I'm not nearly so bad with this as advertised, but it's not the best use of my capabilities. I'm fairly fast and able to move unnoticed too - it's likely I could handle double duty." Sinking back into the disguised form, "Plus, everting's tasty up tere in the fron'! What do you tink, Ynja, m'am?" He snaps into a salute, facing about 10° to the right of where Ynja stood.

Regarding invisible enemies, I can activate a 15-ft. scent for 1 minute at a time should we run into them. If they're angry invisible enemies, then I can detect them at double that range.

The Man. The Myth. The Mask!

When you arrive at you up-point you can peek out to get an idea of what you're about to go through. It's not encouraging. The surface is a blasted hellscape. The artillery has clearly been hard at work. You can hear the report of Thumpers to your left and ahead as well as the tremor of the ground whenever one impacts anything other than a person. As you peek over, four balls of fire lift over the walls of the far trench and fall toward your men in the transfer trenches. None is a direct hit, but the heat of their arrival can be felt all the way over where you are almost 80 feet away.

Canaan - There isn't a tremendous amount of cover or elevation here. The artillery activity has reduced any structure in this area to ground level ruins. There is a friendly shelter a ways off on the right flank. If you could get on it's roof it might provide enough elevation to get a shot on things (though you're sure anything in the trenches will have cover).

So I am a little late to the party, but here goes :)
Earlier
A little ways behind the newly created Commanders Post a pair of Cannan's Secret Ops Corps leading a short man who is cuffed and covered with a hood, stop.
Ey. Stop here. No point in us going over... There.
Ya. I agree. OI! You, mutant. You can walk from here, go on. Go join your kind.

With that the two guards drop the chain leading to the short man and they leave with a parting remark of freaks...

Now "free" (sorta... Hes still cuffed and stuck in the middle of a war...), the Friar mumbles to himself and starts walking towards the Command Post, when he starts slowly shrinking as he walks. He keeps shrinking until he is only a foot or so high and the handcuffs fall off his now too-skinny wrists, which he then pockets. Casts Minor Metamorphosis for 1PP, shrink to Tiny size and I dunno, get acid resist 5 for 7 minutes)

In the Command Tent(Its a tent, right?

Lady Incendia had just finished barking out the orders for the group when she heard a tiny voice from near her feet call out hello. hi, down here. i am supposed to be repor...Oh. Excuse me, I am supposed to be reporting in for duty.
What was once a greenish, fat looking man the size of a cat seems to rapidly grow mid sentence greets you. (Power wears off)
We are going now? But I just got here, umm, oh well. I can join up at the front, I hope I will be ok...
...Ohhh I hate running...

Then, as if he had forgotten something of vast importance, he turns back and salutes. Name's The Friar. An Im different. Always Different.

The Friar is a short halfling who is also exceedingly fat, almost to the point of being a round ball. He is dressed in brown monk robes and holding a large staff with his 3 hands. He looks like he hasnt had a decent shower in a while and his dirty Cul-De-Sac hair is a mess.
He looks to be very nervous, especially within such large company, and seems to be fumbling his words as a consequence.

Feel free to call him Fatling, or Fatty or something like that. Its literally his name :P

The Friar then spots Cannan and heads over to him with haste
Ah! Its good to see at least one other "Decent Folk" here. I was beginning to get really nervous. I am the Friar, what is your name?
You hear his stomach gurgle a bit and he winces in response.

Edit: Just posted after Choon :/ So this next post is for after that
Also, I can cast touchsight :) 60ft of "See Everything," and my body should adapt to using it naturally.

Friar peeks over the edge of their muster point and immediately regretted it. In response to his sense of dread his body naturally hardened itself, bracing for the inevitable impact (cast Inertial Armor for 1PP (+4 AC), and when the heatwave struck it also took on a red hue as Friar shuddered. (Augment Suit for 1PP, +10 fire resist for 3 rounds)
We have to go across there? Friar asks with a half-hearted tone.
Edit: and if I have enough time for a second standard action, I also cast Vigor (0PP, +8 temp hps for 6 minutes)
As Friar started to stew in his dread, his body started to build up energy in anticipation.

"It sho nuff be gud, Janry," Orvay said. For once, the two heads were in complete agreement, a rare occurance, and they were eager to engage in battle.

"we need to do it fast, and as a group, our only hope is by the time they spot we will be most of the way there. Its why I asked about the mist. I and our snapper will be shooting back at what ever shoots at you. Then I will follow. Friar is it, you and Craven look like you can shift, so if you can shift to a fast form do it. We don't stop, understand, no matter of someone gets hurt, you have to get to the thudders and stop them."

She tried to sound brake, sound strong but all the time as the nagging feeling none of them would make it.

Shifters is it? Can any of you turn into anything small, maybe something that can fly and is small? Maybe fly off and start a ruckus and get the drop on them before the rest of us lesser beings can make it there with our stubby little legs right? Then fly back out!! Celeste questions the wondrous abominations.

She couldn't help but notice the fear emanating from their gunner. Perhaps her last deployment wasn't a pleasant one. They never were.

"That way you don't even have to worry about running past our corpse as we die gloriously in battle, isn't that right Ynja!!" She says as she pats the smaller woman on that back firmly.

Takes a step to stop herself from falling over as the giant of a woman slapped her back. As you do Angels you note that Ynja is incredibly light, and there is a cold feeling as your hand gets close. there is an aura around her of some kind.

Ynja stands, "I hope it do's not come to that. But its a good idea that we get some of us there fast. They want shoot on thire own position."

Change form to a goblin for the small size & 30 ft. speed, and drinking potions of eagle's splendor and fly. I then double move towards the closer of the two thumpers, 10 ft. above the ground. If anyone's got more buffs to do before we hit it, that should take be three rounds of prep, and the fourth I move into their sights. :-)

You just gave me a wondrous idea >:) It will take me a little bit of time to pull off but...

Friar looks at Angels and Ynja and ponders a moment. "Shifting," as you call it? Ya I could probably fly... I mean I have never done it before, but is it doable? Proabably... But smaller? Ya I can do smaller. at least I mean I have managed to do it before, like when I tried to escape...
As the Friar speaks you can see movement underneath his robes as buldges appear near his shoulders, then he begins to shrink smaller and smaller, and his voice gets quieter and quieter before he almost disappears from sight entirely and his voice becomes almost to small to hear.

I assume that we have a little bit of time before we commit? I can spend a minute of concentration to give me a fly speed (good) equal to my land speed, then spend 5PP on metamorphosis to reduce my size by 2 categories and increase my speed by 20ft. Also gain a +10 bonus to disguise checks to appear as a dimunitive bug :P I will have to figure out the exact changes in a few minutes.

You hear (or at least if you are listening closely) a tiny voice from an almost invisible little creature hey! thats just rude. i dont go making fun of YOU do i?

Ynja Eva Ragnavold Half-Atlantean, HP[32/32] MP[30/32]Luck[16/16]Sanity92] ]Luck[16]Dodge [75/36/15] Privet investigator

She looks over at the battle, peeking fast, then sits back down, thinking.
She seems to make her mind up.

"I have an alternate plan, it still means running over deadmans land, BUT my hope is we can get behind them. I think if we go from here, we'er going to get pounded by fire from front and back Trenches. But from what I can see the Artillery is past the front trench, Those fire balls back form way back, That means they'er in the Second line trench."

She takes another fast look then back again. She takes a note pad an Silver pen out, making a small map to show what she means.

"If you look to the right, there is one of out look out posts, its half way to thire back trench. We move down form here to the right, make a run for that then from that to the back Trench. Once there we move fast to the Artillery ad forget the thuppers for now. My hope is be in them before the know whats going on. Also this way we have 1 short run and not one long one. Bad news is we have to make our way along the trench to get to the Artillery, my hope is they throw most of the troops into the attack, so what do you think?"

She says, she may be frightened but they don't recruit inelegance officers from the dumb. Thinking and planning was what they where trained for.

See map for new root.

Craven's in no rush - if you need a little longer to prep, he'll aim to finish when you're done then.

The silky voice returns as the now-goblin's nostrils flair wide. "Fattyyyyyy, you seem... angry... Delicious."

Turning to Yjna, he maintains his natural (?) tone. "So I'm clear: knock out artillery, regroup, then go after the thumpers without having to worry about the sky crashing down on us? I can pick up even greater speed on foot then, but despite my talents, I cannot deceive the Truth. Until danger presents itself, the elements will not come to my aid."

In other words, I can get up to 50-ft. land speed for the first three rounds while building focus, and then top out at 70-ft. after that, but until we actually come under fire, I can't generate focus. It'd be faster than flying, though, and I've got just the one potion, so I wouldn't mind saving it for our extraction.

That's only outside of the trenches by my understanding, correct? Provided I survive the 1 round I'm stuck in the open between the shelter and their trench, the inevitable attack shall let me get things moving. :-D

Resuming the mock-voice of the corpulent goblin, Craven chatters in unreasonable excitement as they start relocating to the new shelter, "This new plan is excccccellent! Again, the tiny little voice from the (Aww heck, Hidden: 1d20 + 15 ⇒ (11) + 15 = 26) Hard to spot dragonfly with a Halfling head calls out as it buzzes around your heads.
If you guys need to, I am pretty sure I can create a diversion significant enough to keep their attention off of you guys so that you can cross. If you are willing to wait for me, I bet I can give them a royal surprise!
Friar will then wait for some signal to start, or something while he buzzes around the others heads (and especially around Cravens head) in an annoying fashion.
you just have to wait for my signal. yes. it WILL be obvious.

I have a good idea on how I could get their attention, whether that is a good thing in whats supposed to be a very lethal game or not... Well :)
Assuming its a go, Friar will move as fast as he can to somewhere in-between the 2 middle catapults, still flying in the air. The rest I will PM the Choon on.
If needed I can take both a Stealth check (+15) and a disguise check (+11) to appear as a bug.
And now I am going to bed, I am too tired to convey the Friars voice :(

I think we create fog at tent, or when we get shot at. So far no one's shooting at us so I see no reason for fog.

So we are following the red arrows on the map? Also I can only use obscuring mist(with a caster level of one lol) once, and of course mist sight, might come in handy if I save that casting for when we get in a pinch. Also recommend others preparing mistsight as well. Gonna go ahead and cast longstrider on myself, already accounted for it with my base speed.

The Man. The Myth. The Mask!

Youall make your way to the friendly bunker, which takes several minutes with the zigzag nature of the trenches, then prepare to make your move. On Ynja's signal, you jump up into the muddy, cratered deathtrap known "not underground" and dash.

Fate: 1d20 ⇒ 13

There is a yell that sounds distinctly like an alarm... you've been spotted. Instantly bolts start flying in your direction and you just know that things are about to go to the Abyss in a handbasket.

She looks over her troop as they get ready and lined up.

"Once your there I will join you, Ill lay down cover fire once your start your run. So get ready here we go"

Surprise round

Ynja looks over the trench at the point her team will be heading for, she stays in the trench lined up her shot then says.

"GO! GO !GO!"

Then she sends a ball of lightning past them and at the Trench they are making for. It hits and explodes into a 40' wide ball of sparks, and lighting. Then a call gos up and all hells brake lose.

"Oh ho ho, how exciiiiiiiiiting!" squeals Craven. Sparks fly from his feet, and he is propelled forward across

Since we're getting shot at, I'll take a swift action to use greased lightning, and then take a full-round action to double move across the trenches. If this is a surprise round (but they know where we are, so I don't think so?), then just a single move without any of the above.

Round 1
Friar hears explosions and immediately knows that his "grand plan" has gotten shot down oh... oh carp. there goes that. guess, umm, guess we just all run over there as fast as we can?
And with that the little dragonfly (Fat dragonfly?... Ugly dragonfly?) just disappears from sight, although it is reassuring that at least it is in the right direction.
So. I have a fly speed of 40, a run speed of 120, and I can take an extra move of 40 if needed. I calculated that line I placed to be about 135ft (12 squares by 24 squares, X5ft. Totally did not use a calculator ?_?) So I should be able to cover that amount of distance with a run action and a Hustle (5pp). Afterwards, I should hopefully be somewhere right above a Thumper and near the catapults.
Edit: Moved the line leftwards about 10ft. Should still be within flying 160ft distance.

Friar has soon left a trench and is flying free in the air when the thought hits him. he could just take off from here... He coulllddd just leave...
But then he remembers the children back in Cannan. And then the children's families.
They may have forgotten about him (afterall, he did disappear for a few years) but there was no way that the friar could forget about them.
And that meant that he had to defend Cannan. So with those thoughts he takes off towards those catapults with renewed (and slightly smelly) energy. (Run action, Hustle 5PP)

bore you guys with a little cliche and righteous internal monologue :)

Pretty soon the Friar finds himself right above one of those thumpers...

The Man. The Myth. The Mask!

fate: 1d20 ⇒ 6

The run starts. Celeste and the Friar are across in a matter of seconds. As she vaults into the trench several smoking bodies can be seen as well as two men crushed under the Giant's piece of rubble. Celeste rounds a corner far ahead of her comrades and almost runs straight into a group of shock troops! They immediately lock shields and start to form a second line as shouts of alarm go up.

The Friar flies unnoticed above a Thumper. He can see the line of friendly troops getting slowly pushed back. Then the thumper goes off one of the men is literally blasted into several pieces that fly in all directions. The men remaining desperately close ranks. To their credit, they don't break.

Akumu and the giant sprint across the broken, muddy ground. Or they attempt to. It's a mess. As they run, several unseen snipers take pot shots.
4d20 ⇒ (18, 8, 5, 2) = 33
1d2 ⇒ 1
1d8 ⇒ 3
Bolts stick in the mud and bounce off bits of stone. One finds Craving's shoulder, but it's just a grazing hit. (for 3 damage) As you near the edge of the trench you see a group of enemy soldiers moving in from the east!

The friar can now see the crews of the catapults. Two are turning toward the runners. Hopefully your crew can get across before something really bad happens! But the other two are loaded and aiming at your troops holding the line! What to do!

Round 2

Ynja watched the last of them go and then ready she followed, but unlike them going a head as the others did, she wanted to be more to the left. As shots zipped past her, the air around her seem to shimmered and then she was moving, moving fast, flying in fact just above the ground, over no-mans.

Gravity Control:

Gravity Control
You use your gravitic abilities to move yourself as a standard action, propelling you up to 60 feet in a straight line, including into the air; any movement upward costs double [0x2=0]. If you end your turn mid-air, you fall on your next turn unless you use gravitic jet again.

She stopped it just at the lip of the enemy trench, placing one foot down, she rolled and leaped into the trench landing be the back wall.

Landing with her back to it she stopped and looks around at their situation. She made of not of who was where and what was going on.

"Janry, Orvay HERE, work with Celeste, clear us a root to the artillery, you other cover our flank and snipe. Come on we need to be moving, if we stop we are sitting ducks."

Ok. I think its time to stress test the Aberrant Egoist :)
I had the choice of going either uber fart or tentacled horror. I think ill go uber fart, just for you Craven ;)

Just as he was right above a potental thumper target, the Friar remembered the old man back in camp making fun of him, Ah frik that blind man. Lets see how he likes it, eh?
So the friar sticks his thumb in his mouth and blows hard (oh ya, dragonfly. Well he had 4 arms?)

Actions:

Ok, first I am casting Metamorphosis (move action, 7PP, 7 minutes) augmented to 7th level. This changes my size from Diminituve to Large, gives me a Bite attack and a Slam attack (1d10), +2 Dex and +1 NA.
It also gives me +12 to disguise checks to look like Craven >:)
Then I begin falling. (Cuz I stop trying to fly)
Then I cast Corrosive Aura augmented to 6th level (standard action, 6PP, 6 rounds) that creates a 5ft cloud around me dealing 6d6 damage (dc 14 ref for half) at the end of their turn.

Im burning through PP like its candy at the circus :p used 13 this round.
Quick note: Vigor as a cantrip only lasts 6 rounds instead of 6 minutes so that has expired, in a while I will recalculate my stats to reflect the changes.

Everyone sees up ahead what looks like a giant, clownfaced Craven wearing baggy blue pants with suspenders explode into view 30 or 40 feet up in the air ahead of you, and then plummet to the ground, landing with a massive BRAAAAPP!!! farting noise.

The large Clown-Craven crashes to the ground, but upon landing it is apparent that something is off. You notice that there are 4 hands holding onto his walking stick, and another, less defined limb sticking out somewhere near his lower abdomen. on his back rests a pair of black raven wings and underneath his white clown makeup are milky white eyes and rough, jagged teeth.
now if only he would stop blubbering....
Oh.. Uhhh... Ouch. that, uhh, that hurt. And who are you?, oh. Uh oh..

Men fall back to a new defensive line before your onslaught while the three eastern troops tricked by Craven all rush straight past him (provoking as normal) at Areth! They all connect and nearly beat the gunslinger straight into the ground! (I think this attack brings him to 7 hp.)

2d8 ⇒ (8, 7) = 15
4d6 ⇒ (3, 4, 4, 2) = 13
4d6 ⇒ (5, 3, 3, 4) = 15
As you fight, you suddenly feel... warm. Then you notice the burning barrels of alchemist's fire coming down on your head...
Gigantos and Celeste, take 13 fire damage and make a DC 20 reflex to avoid catching fire and taking 1d6 at the start of your turn until it is extinguished.
Celeste, Ynja, Akumu, you three take 15 fire damage and make a separate DC 20 save or catch fire in the same manner.

You suddenly have an idea of what the Hells must feel like! The fire explodes in a blinding flash and everything is suddenly scalding hot!

Two more casks can be seen flying toward your front line. The terrified, panicked screaming that comes afterward doesn't sound like they missed.

Speaking of the fire, Friar. Oh my did you land yourself in the frying pan. Almost everyone in the area charges you or attacks you in some way. Before you know it you have five men doing their best to make you a pudgy paste.
6d20 ⇒ (6, 9, 20, 7, 3, 17) = 62
Most miss. Except that one that hits you straight in the back of the head with his mace.
you take: 2d8 + 10 ⇒ (8, 2) + 10 = 20
And two more run from the front line in the transition trench to assist! With them, from the other side by the other two catapults, come three figures dressed in flowing robes and wielding large axes in one hand. You have heard of these men. Galbarian Battle Mages. These were the "heavy magic" you were told about. All three cast and suddenly you feel significantly less magical.
3d20 ⇒ (10, 8, 12) = 30
The first dispells your metamorphosis. The second fails his CL check. The third gets your corrosive aura.
To top things off, a Thumper seems to have taken offence at your fart, and he's just now rounding the corner...

If he's survives, Craven thought, noting the firepower coming down on that halfling, I'll be sure to show him a true form so he may do so properly. :-P

Craven easily sidesteps the final warrior as he charges at the yaksha. In his silky voice, he declares, "Yes, cooked to perfection on the field of battle! As he does this, invisible energy is ripped from the enemy soldier and drawn to Craven, and he feels his senses sharpen as his spirit is satiated. Her anger building up inside her starts to make her blood boil even hotter than the flaming ground around her as she flies into rage, muscled tensed. She takes but a single step before crouching down to make a mighty leap.

Turn actions:

She uses a free action to go into rage(+4 str/con, +2 will saves, +12 temp hp, ac penalty negated) and she then takes a 5ft step and uses swift action to use the leaping dragon maneuver to jump towards the friar(+10 competence bonus, counts as running). She uses a full round action to recover her maneuvers. She adds her wisdom as a dodge bonus to ac and as dr/-, and gains an additional 12 temp hp for the duration of the round. Her next strike will do 6 hp worth of bleed dmg. The target continues to bleed until the bleeding is stopped via magical healing or a successful DC 15 Heal check.
