The route leading out to the manor is a 3-mile hike along a narrow path that follows the Foxglove River from the covered bridge where it flows under the Lost Coast Road to the dark sea cliffs overlooking the Varisian Gulf. Here, wild sea birds call out to a roaring ocean that churns hundreds of feet below. As the you near the manor, it almost seems as if nature herself has become sick and twisted. Nettles and thorns grow more prominent, trees are leafless and bent, and the wind seems unnaturally cold and shrill as it whistles through the cliffside crags. The path slowly rises, bending around a steep corner in the cliffs, and then the old building looms at the edge of the world. The strangely cold sea wind rises to a keening shriek as the manor comes into view.

The building itself appears to loathe its perch high above the ocean, as if the entire house were poised for a suicide leap. The roof sags in many places, and mold and mildew cake the crumbling walls. Vines of diseased-looking gray wisteria strangle the structure in several places, hanging down over the precipitous cliff edge almost like tangled braids of hair. The house is crooked, its gables angling sharply and breached in at least three places, hastily repaired by planks of sodden wood. Chimneys rise from various points among the rooftops, leaning like old men in a storm, and grinning gargoyle faces leer from under the eaves.

Night is just settling in firmly as you approach the decaying building.

Why in the world would Ripnugget want to live here anyway?

As the group slowly makes their way towards the rotting and ruined building they notice the true amount of decay that seems to have taken hold on the structure. Greasy black and green splotches of mold and mildew cover the walls and windows with a thick disgusting film. As Bart takes to the air he disturbs a small flock of ravens perched upon the ruins of an outbuilding, the birds quickly taking flight and scattering in all directions.

Checking the perimeter there are two doors that are noticeable on the first floor, both of which appear to be locked. The windows look like another access point, however no view can be gained to the inside due to heavy curtains being pulled closed behind each window on the ground and upper floors.

Looking back down the road you came along you notice a small band of goblins who have camped a good distance away from the house, likely here to provide reports back to Ripnugget on your progress as well as acting as a source of fresh recruits for those goblins who fail to make it out of the house alive. Evil GM cackle...

Having checked a window and found it well covered, Mugmuff will circle the house ,noting the second door, checking it to see if it's locked, try to assess how hard the lock might be to pick without actually picking it... then circle back around to the front and report his findings to all..

Then he'll approach the front door and make an attempt at the lock there...assuming there are no traps...

If Mugmuff finds no traps on the door and it is unlocked, Burnclaw will burst through the door, using Stunning Irruption to stun any creatures in the room behind the door. DC 15 Fort save or stunned instead of acting in the surprise round plus 1 round thereafter.

The door is unlocked, but somewhat stuck.

Burnclaw quickly lowers his shoulder and smashes through the door, the rotten and mildewed wood buckling and splintering as he crashes through into the dark and creepy house. This oak-paneled chamber must have once
been breathtaking, but is a sad sight now—the floorboards are warped with moisture and the paneling scratched and spotted with mold. A grand
piano, its surface splotchy and keys warped, leans tiredly in the southeast corner. Additional doors can be seen in the south and east walls.

Searching the room you find nothing useful. The piano would probably be worth a good amount of coin if it was restored, and the metal strings inside might be worth something. Checking both doors Mugmuff finds himself greeted by only silence.

Not interested in subtlety, Burnclaw bashes his way through the southern door, and finds himself in a narrow hallway. A door directly opposite the one he just entered leads south, while further down the hallway are two other doors, one leading north and the other east. From somewhere within the walls, each of you hears a low chuckling sound which quickly tapers off into silence.

Flappy has an icon on the board as well. Feel free to place it wherever you wish outside.

Apologies for last week. Holiday grabbed ahold of me and wouldn't let go :)

Going to handle this in one post, broken up, since we have dual door bashing going on...

Closest to a door, Burnclaw continues his brutal destruction of the doors within the large manor, bashing his way through another and into a much larger room. The sound of the house straining and creaking gives this long, high-ceilinged room an additional sense of age and decay. The place smells damp, the unpleasant tinge of mold lacing the air as surely as it stains the wooden floor, walls, and furniture in pallid patches. Moldering trophies hang on the wall to the northeast: a boar, a bear, a firepelt cougar, and a stag, yet they pale in comparison to
the monster on display in the center of the room.

Crouching in the middle of the grand room is a twelve-foot-long creature with the body of a lion, a scorpion’s tail fitted with dozens of razor barbs, huge batlike wings, and a deformed humanoid face.

Bart's door...

This is a simple washroom. An ancient metal washtub stands to the north, a ring of mildew crusting its inner surface. A strange, furtive scratching comes from inside the tub.

Coming up behind Burnclaw, Torch shouts, "Torch will kill big monster-thingy!" Before anyone can move to stop him, he launches a bomb at the creature.

Burnclaw charges into the large room, ripping and tearing at the immediate threat. Despite his best efforts, he is only rewarded with a mouthful of foul tasting hair as the creature doesn't even seem to recognize that it is being attacked, remaining completely motionless. From behind the bloodrager, Torch shouts out and tosses one of his flaming bombs at the monstrosity, the liquid death exploding upon impact and singing the hairs on Burnclaw's head. Still the creature seems not to notice. Torch's senses are assaulted with the strong smell of burning hair and flesh. Despite the direct hit, the flames smolder and quickly die out, the creature seemingly unaffected. Torch can make a perception check.

From the tub in the bathroom, the scraping and shuffling sound continues to emanate from within, yet nothing comes flying out to attack the brave anti-paladin.

Burnclaw takes 5 points of splashy bomb damage.

Burnclaw has a pretty good feeling that this thing isn't alive at all. It could be a golem though! :)

Peeking into the tub, Bart sees a grossly misshapen and pale rat, its body bulging with tumors. Its eyes appear to be completely clouded over and the creature itself seems to be flailing blindly at the sides of the tub in a feeble attempt to get out.
