gm this would be an interesting twist on the Wrath of the Righteous, The Wrath of the Chelexians! Envision it in all of its glorious splender, the idea is this Cheliax has become tired of Mendev's constant failure against the Worldwound. So Cheliax has decided that we are shutting down the Worldwound Chelexian style which means no mercy, no compassion, no saving the "innocent" villagers. Cheliax will have victory and finally show the world that there is only one way to succeed and that is by doing it Chelexian style. Also I like the idea of an all tiefling party...that has possibilities.

Variziel |

Group of Chelaxian tieflings who travel to the Worldwound to stop the zombie apocalypse coming forth in a brutally efficient fashion, who may become angels in the process but maintain their badass semi-evil antihero tiefling ways.
And go.

Nothing like some crazy pills! *Twitch, twich*
So, you don't take a therapy-based stance to treatment? Understandable, due to likely patient influx and time constraints. I will use a therapy based program when I get my degree, supplemented by medicine which is scaled off as patient condition improves. Medicine alleviates symptoms, but does not treat the underlying problems. Only by treating the underlying problems will symptoms vanish. Another issue with medicine is that the human form builds up a resistance to pretty much every chemical over repeated exposure, which means dosage often reaches unhealthy levels after a period of time, then after that someone either has to switch to a different medicine, often much more expensive, and start the process over again. Apologies for the ramble, I'm just of the 'therapy crowd' who believe that, while initially more expensive, therapy is much more effectively and in the long run, actually cheaper than straight-up medication. No offense to your particular method of course, just stating my stance.
And doesn't Cheliax do everything better? I know their theater is, what with masterpieces such as the Trials of Larazod! ;)

Ignatius Hank |

Strangely, I WAS of the 'therapy crowd' until it turned out that I had exhausted what therapy could do with my depression. My psychologist actually said "I think you may have been experiencing depression symptoms so long that your brain may need short-term psychiatric medication to get all of your levels retrained."
Strange thing is, she was right. I spent a year on meds, after experiencing the after-effects of depression that I had started really fighting 10 years ago (but actually started suffering from almost 20 years ago). I'm doing great now.

Janus Ult |

Sir this is a debate that has run a long time. Kind of like the psychologists should be able to prescribe drugs with medical oversight discussion. I deal with people who will never get better on a daily basis so psych meds is the only option. Chemically imbalanced and mentally impaired people. Therapy will work where it will but you can't use therapy on grown adults who have the mental acuity of a six year old. More that I wish I could deal with severe autism or fas with therapy but sadly the world doesn't work that way, so we treat the symptoms a make sure they have as good a quality of life as they can manage.

Ahh but sadism in of itself is part of human nature. Everyone laughs when the little girl face plants while practicing free running yes no? Have you not ever had that instance when you did something stupid such as walk into a door and everyone laughs at you? A certain level of masochism is normal as well, people push themselves to the point where it hurts just to feel the endorphin rush. It is when it goes past your societal norm that it is considered taboo or an abomination. Janus comes from a culture and a religion that embraces pain in all forms.... But sociology is a silly science.

Cap'n Jackson Sparrowshank Esq. |

Well, obviously those with chemical imbalances and completely genetic conditions would require medication, but as for people whose stress has made them crack, therapy is much more viable solution. I apologize if any offense was given, because it was not intended. I merely misinterpreted your comment as subscribing to a 'pill philosophy', not that there's anything wrong with that, but I love converting people to my therapeutical standpoint. ;) Also, props for belonging to one of the most underappreciated post-college jobs! It takes someone special to REALLY get into our chosen field! I mostly am fascinated by the mind's intricacies: it's ability to self-evolve it's own structure, the ways it can be built up or shattered, the clockwork way that it works, and pretty much everything else about it. I got REALLY bored in Behavioral Statistics though, because it's not as relevant (Anybody with average intelligence can look at two results and notice which one had a greater effect and have a good idea of what that shows,) and didn't really involve much psychology, at least as far as being the focus of the class anyway. By the way, how much do you know about neural plasticity? Hopefully a lot, because I'd like to share something fascinating with you via PM: a possible way to exponentially increase neural plasticity, the implications of which are amazing. Since my professors are interested in my theory but urge me to wait until I obtain a PhD to try researching it, perhaps you would like to hear about it and possibly implement it in a research study? I have already calculated costs, possible deleterious effects, subject acquisition techniques, ect. And no, I don't really care about the IP regarding this, it is about personal, academic pride and, admittedly, a lack of patience.
Also, just for clarification, I was not inferring I had therapy done, I was merely referring to subscribing to a therapeutic style philosophy of clinical psychology. I have, however, had to use a pretty good amount of introspection and self-therapy over the years to help with certain issues, notably a rather tragic romance from what seems like a long time ago. The results of that nearly broke me as a person, but in the depths of my depression, I found compassion for broken people, which I had attributed before to a weak mind or a weak will. I sympathize now with people's trials and tragedies, maybe a bit too much. That point just got detailed quick, but it's past midnight, so my ramblings are at least halfway justified!
Also Iggy, glad to hear you're doing better!
Just as a side note, I had gotten to the point where, before my introspection began, I had a period for about a week where I had NO sleep whatsoever due to the stress I had. I had to take Zolpidem Tartrate to go to sleep for three days after that, then my circadian rhythm was corrected. For those of you who don't know, Zolpidem Tartrate is something often prescribed to PTSD patients, though I did not have PTSD.

Agreed on your examination on the human relationship to pain, Janus. How very interesting that someone else noted that, considering people's natural aversion to believing that!
Sociology is silly if you view it as not connecting to psychology. I find it funny how social interactions and groups break down logic and reason until you're left, in some cases, with a mob of drooling primitives. Let's just face it, it happens with most subcultures, political parties, ect. Do you not find that fascinated? The process by which individual logic is subsumed by collective idiocy, flawed modules of thinking devouring each other like the Ouroboros until people can no longer seperate their views from the group's, until they effectively become a drone in a hivemind?

Janus Ult |

Not that I don't appreciate it but I am not the one to be contacted for research. I have a full time, my wife tells me it is a way to much time, career helping the people most of society would rather forget. You need people who deal in research and experimentation. On the other hand, if it does work out for you I look forward to reading the results and if it becomes accepted practice and can be incorporated seeing it implemented in cases of acquired brain injury. And I probably took a little more offense to the subject than I should have but we have had pressure to apply a less meds more therapy approach lately with people who become a danger to themselves and others when you reduce dosage. Compound that with a highly stressful week and pain meds for a fractured rib and I am a bit more iratable than normal.

Ignatius Hank |

Benevolent dictatorship? Nope. It's a sadistic hivemind, and all of us who won't assimilate...get keel-hauled. :P I have proof in Bloody Hour!
Of course, I also have secured a way for Iggy to walk around and be less likely to be suspected when the chance comes to skewer a certain sadist. And no, Iggy is not gonna skewer Janus.
But yep, I'm just quite intrigued to see what is going to happen, now that we've all shown that we'll do whatever is necessary to take our mutual enemy down.

Ignatius Hank |

Oh I've read a lot about this part. It'll be my 2nd play of the game, the first time I've done the first couple of chapters, but I've read multiple descriptions in my previous game and in others. It's definitely a rough one, meant to bring the group together. Now we know at least 2 (probably 3) members of our group have gotten in good with the higher ups. Honestly, Iggy is very tempted to mark Plugg when the time comes and partially keel-haul him in response to this.
The sea is a cruel mistress. :) And Iggy is an angry man. Don't deny a dying man his request for rites. Especially when the man who would perform those rites is right there.

Cap'n Jackson Sparrowshank Esq. |

That's the spirit, Iggy! Hate Plugg and Harrigan, subsume that into your core, and hold it all in until the time is right to strike! Just don't hate the man playing them!
Now, the gears begin to turn, and the clockwork begins to tick! This signifies the end day 1 and the beginning of an incredible journey for you all!
I'm about to sign off posting for the night shortly. Will post around 11:00 tomorrow after class.

This is the point where we move from the this guy is some creepy loon phase of this thing to the what the hell is on board this ship with us level of Zon Kuthon. For all those who have not guessed, Janus's anger is over the senseless and stupid death. Why kill as a punishment when you can make an example of someone, death is a release from pain for those who have not learned to embrace it. Nothing can be gained from this.

I think I made that transition earlier . :)
Good stuff, though. Not sure how Jesal feels about it all. Definitely not natural in his eyes, so disturbed is definitely a descriptor. The malice of the ship's leaders who have pretty much complete control over our lives is a much more pressing subject, however, so Janus' antics are taking back seat in his eyes for now.

I think Janus' bigger problem than being depraved is that if we see him as part of the ships elite (regardless if he has ulterior motives) , we will ostracize him from mutiny planning.

Iggy basically considers Harrigan to be a blasphemer and that his actions are a slap in the face of all Besmarans. So even though he's an officer, his duty is to the crew, the notion of piracy, and his deity. And, without a doubt, the rest of the officers (minus Janus, who's just creepy) are just as guilty. Punishment is set to come, and Iggy is gonna have a hand in it.
Iggy sees Janus as a sadist, but if he understands the reason for the meeting and the guy's proper funeral. If not...well, he may end up with the fishes.

Cap'n Jackson Sparrowshank Esq. |

For some reason, I thought someone was going to 'make an offer you can't refuse'! No tommy guns in the Shackles though ;).
I forgot my power cord this morning, so it will be this evening before I put down a post for you guys, unless they have removed blocks on Paizo from the school computers. Posting from my keelhauled phone!

Charlotte DeGivre |

Charlotte considers Harrigan and his followers as straight up barbaric pirates. She believes piracy is a question of gold and glory, not free reign to get your sadistic jollies off, and looks down very badly on grauitous suffering. (That is, she'll gladly injure a merchant and swipe his loot, as most pirates wouldn, but she sees no point in kicking the guy while he's down.)
She'll be fine with Janus so long as he keeps his healing clean, and saves the creepy sadist stuff to those who really deserve it. (I.E.: Plugg.)

I should have a post up tonight or tomorrow! Just letting you all know, so you won't think I abandoned you or anything! Also, almost done with all of those bloody essays! Not actually bloody, because I imagine those would be unreadable! I feel like composing a Goblin medley, but class beckons!
