Súrë Hísië |
So everyone else has moved inside then?
The slyph trots along, catching up. double move to G7 (35' movement speed) Along the way he pulls out his darkwood club.
Ilivan will fly over to the door and then walk inside. double move to H7; 80' fly speed but only 10' walk speed. If there's some action associated with landing he'll just land outside the door then (he was still flying at the beginning of the turn, pausing just long enough last round for Súrë to touch him.
GM Burglar |
Omrax, BIRD, and you are the only fellows outside, yes.

Shotel/Cestus TWF: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 101d8 + 3 ⇒ (5) + 3 = 81d20 + 4 ⇒ (9) + 4 = 131d4 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6 Though his swings are powerful and show-off-y (reactive Kn L applies again), he fails to effectively connect with anything!
Meanwhile, everyone in the bunk room is in round 2 of their unseen preparation cycle!

What in blazes is taking these guys* so long? Desmond thinks to himself. He decides not to wait any longer and simply let himself in. He steps up to the door he's been waiting at and figures to try and smash through it.
Power Attack Damage: 2d6 + 6 + 6 ⇒ (6, 1) + 6 + 6 = 19
*By which he means the sailors in the barracks.
Omrax the Bold |
Omrax will double move on his turn, to reach the others if possible.
"We must hurry for the others may need our assistance."
Asuna Senko |
"Apparently the captain only likes short people." Asuna confides in Baz as she takes a swing at the card player.

Miniupdates!
@Omrax: Action - Queued! You get just outside the door with a double move.
@Asuna: You connect, though do not take down the man.
Varg "Cleaver" Stollufsen |
Round 4, Rage 4/13, AC: 18, Power Att
Varg flies into a rage and screams as he takes a five foot step forward and attacks the captain (Cb) with his Furious Greataxe.
AAAAAARRRRRGH!

GA Dam: 1d12 + 7 + 5 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 7 + 5 + 6 = 22
Desmond Aesculus |
And Desmond has a crowbar! I forgot that he had one. He should've used that to open the door. D'oh
GM Burglar |
The preparations, you could guess, are more likely the fact many of them were sleeping and (despite the fact that you CAN), not everyone is going to want to sleep in their light armor. It's not like you hear a ton of syncronized drinking of potions or casting of spells or anything...

Sahrek (on Guard Loius), Baz, Luisila are up!
A1:5 + 21 = 26 damage
Bazresh Izzakesh |
Baz takes a step to the northeast, ending next the Sahrek. Those are some agile moves you have. Were you guys in a circus?, No wait, from the way your feet dance, I would say you were all apart of a ballet troupe. The Dancing Pirates or something? The tiefling taunts as he swings his blade.
Five foot step NE, attack A1
Scimitar Attack: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (3) + 12 = 15
Damage: 1d6 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 + 2 = 10
Desmond Aesculus |
Also, I can't help but think of this whenever I read the Captain's outrageous French accent.
Desmond Aesculus |
GM, the way I understand the defend command is that Sahrek is basically not attacking anybody until either he or Luisila is attacked, right?
Luisila |
Luisila will draw her dagger and move behind ‘Mack,’ looking to put the big Ulfen between the pirate captain and herself.
I can’t see the map right now, but I think J4 describes this pretty well, GM Burglar.
Once she gets in position she will place a light, friendly hand on Varg’s shoulder imparting a Bit of her goddess’ Luck to him.
I wonder if the Besmaran knows what it feels like to be hit by a Mack tr…avelling fast!
She will then look pointedly at Sahrek, then the enemy leader, lift her buckler arm to her face and cower away from the Besmaran, shaking a little and whimpering.
Bit of Luck (Sp): You can touch a willing creature as a standard action, giving it a bit of luck. For the next round, any time the target rolls a d20, he may roll twice and take the more favorable result. You can use this ability a number of times per day equal to 3 + your Wisdom modifier.
GM Burglar |
I'm just leaving my local game, but yes; he would. Saved a LOT of people that stood around our TWF fighter with her +2 Will vs enchantment at, like, 9th level.
-Posted with Wayfinder
Omrax the Bold |
@GM - it scares me to play in a party with a high DPR fighter with a will save THAT low. Been in more than one game where we barely escaped a TPK when our low-will fighter was easily charmed/dominated.
GM Burglar |
@Des: Indeed, that is correct as well.

Sailor #2, however, has no qualms going after the not-a-Wishcrafter with his flanks with the beefy guy! Sabre @Baz: 1d20 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 + 2 = 161d6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4 He also shouts back to #1. "You're such a bad sailor, Mike!"
Sailor(s) inside the bunk room enter round 2 of MyStErIoUs PrEpArAtIoNs!
---
For the benefit of those rushing through, here's some descriptions of the rooms.
By removing the door to this small room and widening the opening, someone has created a crude arch that frames a small shrine. Cobalt light spills from a dark blue glass lantern that hangs above a crude altar improvised from domestic furnishings. Candles on the altar flank a pewter mug and a bottle of rum, and behind the altar stands the wooden female figurehead of a ship. A black tricorn perched on her head at an angle partially shields her face from the lantern’s light.

Oh my lord, Cleaver!
EDIT: Yes!! I'll 'see' y'all tomorrow.
Also … am I right in thinking it’s a certain tiefling-genie’s birthday?
If so, Happy Birthday, Tines.

Now roll me the 50/50 chance of hitting his Mirror Image or him, as I feel that is not something tense enough that I should be doing for you.

Desmond Aesculus |
Oh man, I just realized - could I have full-round attacked the door to smash it up? Oh well. And way to go Varg!
Desmond takes another whack at the door, trying to show it who is boss.
Power Attack Damage: 2d6 + 6 + 6 ⇒ (3, 5) + 6 + 6 = 20
Desmond's big swinging does the job and he makes his way into the bunkroom, squeezing himself through the remains of the once-sturdy door. (And I'm guessing that the attack on the door broke Desmond's invisibility)
"C'mon fellas, I prefer a straight fight to all the sneaking around I been doin'."
Desmond Aesculus |
Oh, and I moved myself on the map.
GM Burglar |
@Birthday: I think it was the spawn of a certain rock-themed GM whose birthday is today, though I might be wrong. So, more like Tiny Tines, if that's the case?

TL;DR, you know where enemies are and might not want to get into an easy-to-be flanked position, so I retracted your Move (though do what you want, mang.)

Retroacive move...
After smashing through the door, Desmond steps just inside the room from the outside and says his action hero line from the previous post.
Luisila |
“Anyone hurt?”
I have Baz at 21/31. Everyone else uninjured.
Luisila moves to M7 and *casts* Burst of Radiance centred diagonally between A2 and S4 “North”, so should get A2, S3 and S4 “North” but NOT S4 “South” and Desmond.
DC 15 Reflex Save ; Evil Creatures take damage: 5d4 ⇒ (1, 3, 2, 4, 4) = 14 whether they make the save or not.
School evocation [good, light]; Level cleric 2, druid 2, sorcerer/ wizard 2
Casting Time 1 standard action
Components V, S, M/DF (a piece of flint and a pinch of silver dust)
Range long (400 ft. + 40 ft./level)
Area 10-ft.-radius burst
Duration instantaneous
Saving Throw Reflex partial; Spell Resistance yes
This spell fills the area with a brilliant flash of shimmering light. Creatures in the area are blinded for 1d4 rounds, or dazzled for 1d4 rounds if they succeed at a Reflex save. Evil creatures in the area of the burst take 1d4 points of damage per caster level (max 5d4), whether they succeed at the Reflex save or not.
Omrax the Bold |
Just glad Varg saved and did not roll that crit on one if us:-) .
Omrax the Bold |
Omrax finally moves into the building and if he can reach S2(@i9), will say...
"Your pirating days are over. I suggest you surrender. From the yelling in the next room, I doubt fate is kind for your allies."
Omrax the Bold |
I had to laugh when I was checking Omrax's sheet today for his next purchase. I totally forgot he uses a +1 quickdraw shield since I never knew if lay hands was legal with a heavy shield. So he spent an extra round (or half round strapping on a heavy shield he does not even have). Doh!
GM Burglar |
I generally try to wait for when we're only waiting on one, though I'm pretty sure this one will still work out despite miscommunication.

All sailors drops weapons! S2 notes that something about "standard protocol fulfillment" as he drops his sabre!
As a note, A2 (well within line of sight of everyone now) looks to be panicking and might give one last push outward, more specifically in the direction with only one enemy (and no bar on the door!)

So all but one have dropped their weapons? If I'm understanding that correctly:
Súrë sends Ilivan back outside to fly above the building and make sure no one escapes. Súrë takes a step back to G6 to guard the door and then readies an attack against any enemy who tries to push past him.
darkwood club power attack: 1d20 + 7 - 1 ⇒ (20) + 7 - 1 = 26

On his turn, Omrax will yell to his team mates to "Cease and desist, they surrender." as he will take the weapon away from the sailor where he dropped it.
Omrax the Bold |
"Hardly seems this crew could have been responsible for all the raids." Omrax turns to the sailor.
"Tell us where the rest of your band of criminals is hiding."
Súrë Hísië |
Dirk! No, no. Papyrus! Yes! Then Rock! Papyrus, Rock. . . then another Rock! Hee hee hee.
GM Burglar |
@Sure: Yup. Just this bigger guy is left armed (per se, since a cestus is hard to "drop"), who has this notion he'll be able to get past Desmond.

Bull Rush (charge): 1d20 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 7 + 2 = 14
After his horrible failing (if Desmond doesn't take his AoO and put him down somehow), he drops his hand-held weapon, drops onto a knee and puts his hands behind his head in surrender. "Ah, #^&@, good show, guys." Full Round (Charge+Bull Rush), Free (drop item, drop to a sitting position).
Combat End!
The sailor nearest to Omrax notes to his inquiry, "You'd be doubtin' how easy it is to knock over a cargo barge, then. Tactical advantage is everything."
