Nevermind then. I will just carry it on my poor back.
"So, are we ready to go to hell?" Once everyone gives the go ahead, Ashur will start reading the command phrase in different places in the room.

![]() |

Nevermind then. I will just carry it on my poor back.
I thought that was a trap dodging safe zone?
"I suppose as ready as I will ever be. If things go bad your heritage will help us out.....right?"
Erin asks in response.

![]() |

Well, it's also where I carry the team. Wide shoulders and all that. :)
"Yea, about that.. Real devils and demons look down on us Tieflings. In fact everyone looks down on my kind. I don't know how it'll help."

GM Burglar |

Whenever Ashur reads the Infernal phrase within 10 feet of the painting, a swirling gate opens up and simply exudes a blistering heat and echos of snarling hell-hounds. A long hall separates two rows of cages that are barred with thick, cracked bones; within each cage at least one pair of red eyes glows ominously. Spaced throughout the cavern are pillars of jagged stone that plunge into small, round pools of molten, steaming lava, which provide the faint light that pervades this nightmarish haunt.
Here's your first view, exiting from the orange swirly portal. I don't need square locations, just a marching order and which side you march. Note the red circle around each pillar. Once the impending Init starts, a creature ending their turn in any surrounding square, you'll take some lava (fire) damage. Also, be sure to read the below spoiler and apply these things to all your rolls and stuff.
Strongly Evil-Aligned/Law-Aligned: Creatures that have a nonevil or nonlawful alignment take a –2 circumstance penalty on all Intelligence-, Wisdom-, and Charisma-based checks. The penalties for the moral and ethical components of the plane’s alignment stack. Thus, a creature that is lawful evil suffers no penalties; lawful neutral, lawful good, neutral evil, and chaotic evil creatures take a –2 penalty; and neutral good, chaotic good, neutral, and chaotic neutral creatures take a –4 penalty.
Enhanced Magic: A spell or spell-like ability with the lawful or evil descriptor is treated as if its caster level were 2 higher.Impeded Magic: To cast a spell or spell-like ability with the chaotic or good descriptor, a caster must attempt a concentration check (DC 20 + the level of the spell). If the check fails, the spell does not function but is still lost as a prepared spell or spell slot. If the check succeeds, the spell functions normally.

Marduk rolls his eyes as the closeted lovers and addresses the middle-aged Pathfinder.
"Good luck in your escape Sascha. If you are caught, die well."
"Ashur, try the phrase in the bedroom. I want to recover Zarta and get out of this damned place."

![]() |

Marduk grunts at Erin's comment but doesn't deny it.
"Wait just a moment longer", the hulking half-orc explains. "I'm going to have to do something about that girlish frame if you're going to be engaging our enemies."
Bull's Strength on Erin and Shield on Marduk.
"That's much better", the big orc comments as Erin's form swells with power. "Now you're starting to look like a warrior!"
Back rank a good 10 feet or so behind Erin.

![]() |

Yep
"She has a girlish frame because she's a girl..." After Marduk is done casting his spells, Ashur will lead the way in.I'll be right behind/alongside Erin post portal

![]() |

That puts KULIK, with cold iron arrows nocked and ready, in back with the other half-orc. Between us we're one human AND one orc! :-)
Also, I am going to forget taking the -4, so someone is going to need to remind me. Likely often.

![]() |

"Your welcome", Marduk adds as he follows the front rank into the portal.
Do not scoff at the Bull's Strength!

As Erin starts to move towards the wall, they make sight with the inner chamber. The wide chamber lacks the cages and columns of the rest of the kennel, instead featuring wide, rounded walls rising up to a height of forty feet. Hanging from the vaulted ceiling are three iron gibbets; the middle one contains the hunched form of a humanoid woman, her hair and skin matted with dried blood. Twenty feet separate the gibbets from the ground. Just below her stands a massive "hound," a two-headed, six-legged canine is covered from mouth to tail in heavy iron plating, and a mass of worms drips from its teeth—the only exposed flesh on the entire monstrosity.
For Erin's benefit, I will point out it is obviously amorphous.
Ashur: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (14) + 12 = 26 This terrain would be Plane (Hell), which I'd find odd for ANYONE to have.
Erin: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16
Kulik: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (4) + 7 = 11
Marduk: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 1 = 14

Ashur and Erin are first! Map!

Ashur will be home from work in a couple hours.
His texted instructions: Move 30 feet towards it and total defense.

![]() |

Lol, I suggest amending it to 25 so he does not get full attacked. I will move 25 with my last being a diagonal north against the wall and full defense as well. +6 AC.
Erin advances alongside Ashur cautiously waiting to see how this strange beast acts before committing to the attack.

![]() |

i think eating a full attack was the plan.

![]() |

Well, better me then someone else. And also I'm -4 to perception checks along with everyone else here. I actually considered Hell to be a favored terrain so I could eventually get good aligned natural weapons. And I'm a tiefling. AC is 26 with total defense

GM Burglar |

I want to make sure to ask for the first instance: You'll be standing in a little bit of lava. NOT Submerged, but some splash is gonna hit you for a little fire damage. You are okay with this, Kulik? Also, do you have anything to negate the Ashur-induced soft cover?
Additional note: That portal, despite my topographical oversight, is still there. I'll add the smudge there next map. Just wanted to point that out.

![]() |

Well, the principal issue was trying to keep a charge lane clear for Marduk, which is why KULIK started shooting instead of charging in. He can close next round (and probably will when/if the arrows miss), but that was my first intent.
KULIK has Precise shot but nothing to address cover; I did presume those to be pillars in front of us and not pits, but if they aren't pillars, a five-foot to the side looks like it might mitigate the cover...? If not, no worries — yeah, he'd stand there; a little lava never hurt anyone, right? LOL
