Ashur turns around to see the rest of the party not behind him. "Of all the stupid.. The portal's closed behind me. Any idea why that happened? Everyone else is still back there." He replies.

![]() |

"Yea, I knew that.." Ashur recites the words again to re-open the portal. I really hope I'm not right about what's going on...

![]() |

Without waiting a beat, Marduk steps through with Zarta over a shoulder.

![]() |

KULIK's eyes widen at the portal vanishing. He exchanges looks with Erin and Marduk, then looks just as surprised when it reappears.
Erin person go next, he says firmly. KULIK wait here.

![]() |

April's Fool's was yesterday, Burglar.. :)
"You guys saw that right?" He says as the rest come through.

![]() |

"Yes. What took you so long to open it again?", Marduk chides.

![]() |

"I didn't expect it to close the first time. Let's just get out of here." Ashur will lead the way back through the citadel.

![]() |

Marduk nods and follows the group out.
"I hope more of them come after us. I'd love nothing more than an excuse to incinerate some Hellknights."

![]() |

"You're looking for one of these fools?"

![]() |

@ Sascha "No, they have not, catching a boat should not be too hard though."
@ Marduk "Yes, but I have not seen him here. He may be stationed somewhere else..."
@ Ashur "Yeah, it is... Wait! You were thinking about leaving me in there?!"

![]() |

Sascha speaks up, still sitting on the floor where you left her. "You've finished your mission, then? I'm going to get to scaling that mountain now. Speaking of which, did the Ten ever branch out anywhere around here? I don't want to have to swim all the way to Absalom."
"Can you make it to Magnimar? There's a lodge there. Look for Heidmarch manor."

![]() |

I haven't. I want to though. :(
Erin "If you actually thought that, you don't know me at all. I just wanted to see the look on your face. Besides what would I do without you?" Ashur grins.

![]() |

Lore note: They actually have branched out recently; The Magnimar Lodge only opened in the past month, if I have my lore right.
I think we cross-posted. I just said that. =P

GM Burglar |

"If you don't mind, I'm gonna use this as a disguise and put a skeleton from the torture chamber in my cell to throw them off for a few days," she says, pointing to the Hellplate. "Just give me an assignment number to report the 'discovery payback' to. Desna knows I don't need the money if I can get my stash back." She frowns a little and continues. "Assuming they STILL don't let you keep what you find..."
To clarify; the portal did NOT close after the 4 individuals inside the portal left after Ashur reopened it. You gonna leave that open?

![]() |

To clarify; the portal did NOT close after the 4 individuals inside the portal left after Ashur reopened it. You gonna leave that open?
Ooh! That might be fun...
Yea, I'll close it.
Drat.
Farewell, Sascha person. Deshna guide your fortune!KULIK will shake her hand and give her a guidance spell.

![]() |

"Well then I guess I'm lucky to have you around.." Ashur puts a friendly arm around the rambling Varisian girl as the party walks.

![]() |

Hardly noticing the sudden contact, she lets herself be guided and continues on.
"Speaking of specialty establishments, there is a great place in Absalom you need to try. It can get a little rowdy sometimes, but nothing you could not handle. The place has caught fire so many times they actually mount buckets of water on the walls, and the booze..."

![]() |

Ashur-Bob will just stay quiet as Erin-Jay continues ranting, obviously paying no attention to the fact that they're still in a Hellknight Stronghold.
Survival Dayjob: 1d20 + 12 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 12 + 2 = 26

Marduk would still like to talk to the centuaress again.
Though we have Zarta now and I'm certain she's dying to reward him.

GM Burglar |

Speaking of rewards, there's normally a thing on the Chronicle sheet I have to sign off on for you, but that'd take a lot of e-finagling. So, I trust you to know what numbers are less than 3,000 and what 'GP' means. You'll know what I'm talking about when I actually get these chronicles all done. This scenario's got a fun wrap-up (unlike boring other scenarios) that is better for home games, but I'll do my best with fill-in-the-blanks.
You all get through the empty hallway unhindered, until the Field-Maralictor sees you covered in blood and in tatters at the top of the staircase.
After possibly the first time seen shocked by something, she calms down immediately. "What in the nine Hells went on down there?"

![]() |

"Your jailor seemed to be trading people for dog creatures. It did not go over too well when we got down there. I showed him the paperwork, he attacked us with his pets. Everything after that I would call an act of self defense."

GM Burglar |

"I knew he was quiet, but I didn't take him for a traitor..." She says, looks down to the floor. She looks back to the group."Understood. I'll forward the paperwork to the Society and we'll call you back for testimonials if we need it. You guys focus on getting her out of here," motioning to Zarta.
Easily sensing what Marduk's subconscious is thinking, she answers him before he asks. "The Mistress is still in a meeting, by the way. I'll let her know you left."

![]() |

Marduk growled in frustration but offers the Field-Maralictor a nod.
"See that she gets my message or I'll make sure that your name is mentioned in the report about how the Hellknights of the Nail wrongfully imprison Chelish nobles and trade them to the forces of Hell for pets."
Intimidate: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (19) + 10 = 29
"Let's get out of here."

GM Burglar |

----
The Venture-Captain mans the front of the cart, one foot on the footrest and his hands on his sides. He notably has a new, minor gash on his forehead. He raises his hands to yell out from his heroic pose. "Agents! You've done wonderfully, beyond all expectations!" He lets a hand down to help Erin into the cart, "I see you've found a fifth member, though." He ponders his thoughts for a moment. "Ah, I know who you are! One of Kline's old companions, no? I'd wondered where you'd disappeared to..." he says as he helps Sascha into the cart as well. Sascha accepts the hand, but doesn't respond to the accusation.

![]() |

Is Zarta still unconscious?
"Did you know about what was happening in there? What they were planning for the Paracountess?" Marduk asks as he climbs into the cart with Zarta over one shoulder.

GM Burglar |

From starvation, not regular damage. That will take time or specific magics to heal.
The Heidmarch man responds assuming you're talking to him,"Know about what? I only knew that's where she was taken about a month ago. I trust you didn't slaughter the Lictor in his 'loo, eh?" he adds with a smirk.

![]() |

There's a I know what she's starving for joke in there somewhere.
"No, we didn't get that pleasure. But apparently one of their own helped set her up. For some Duke of Hell."

GM Burglar |

"Figures. Takes 'Throat-cutting bureaucrats' to a whole new level, eh?" He takes a small pocket container out of his jacket, containing cigars and motions it towards Ashur. "Victory smoke? Promised the wife I'd try to quit," he says, lighting one up for himself with a small magic box.

![]() |

"Is that why you got that gash on your head? Or did you walk into a door?" Ashur takes one and lets him light it up.

GM Burglar |

"No, that's what I get for marrying to one of the feisty ones." He opens his magic two-part box, and activates the At-will Spark cantrip. While doing so, he semi-whispers something to Ashur and possibly glances at Erin. "A tip: When you make Venture Captain, don't tell your well-informed wife you're going out to 'give a mission briefing', and hold the meeting at the bar from which she's explicitly banned you. Multiple times." He offers a cigar around to all, which Sascha declines. "Unless you're ready for a friendly knife-fight when you get back to your room, that is."

![]() |

Marduk laid the frail Paracountess down and then took the offered gift.
With a snap of his meaty digits, he set the cigar's end aflame.
I used a fire spell!
"Thanks."

![]() |

"I'll keep that in mind. Figured it had to do with the Missus." Ashur whispers back as he follows the man's glance.
Maddok: Yay!
