Bummer
"Take your time. I'm looking forward to spreading word about how Paravicar Acillmar and the Hellknights of the Nail ignored evidence proving a woman's evidence to hold her prisoner. Imagine the chaos that will spread when word of this gets out."
Intimidate: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (19) + 10 = 29

"..."
Upon Marduk's comment, the man pauses. He stops writing gingerly takes the papers out of the tube and "looks" them over.
"...And you're sure these are legit?" he tersely responds, with a hint of anger in his voice.
+2 to your next roll from that success, Marduk. 2/3 successes needed.
As a side note, today is my local PFS game. Probably no posts until later tonight.
Kulik
|
I was also going to say: KULIK should auto-make that Sense Motive, but then I see you already had that down. Darn work for getting in the way of my game! LOL
Marduk Beastblood
|
Kulik, did you want to get the last check or should we leave it for Erin since she has a big bonus on her next one?
Edit: Nevermind.
Erin Alegra
|
"Quite sure Paravicar. If you could sign this release for us we will be out of your hair and head over to Paralictor Delfiero to have everything doubly verified with your order."
Erin states while placing the release form on the desk.
Diplomacy 1d20 + 13 ⇒ (6) + 13 = 19 (added +6 for Kulik and the modifiers you mentioned. Feel free to edit if there are more.)
| GM Burglar |
The man leafs through the pages. "Yes, yes. Everything seems to be in order. I want to point out that you'll need another Paralictor's signature for this, though," he says through his should-be sightless helmet.
3/3 consecutive successes achieved, entirely thanks to all the extra bonuses you added.
"Now, I'm sure both of our parties are quite busy. Have a good day, and may the law's justice be done." he says as he returns to his existing paperwork.
---
Once back outside the room, the Field-Maralictor asks the obvious question; "Are you ready to see the Mistress of Blades?"
| GM Burglar |
The guide leads you to a two-story, two-towered keep which serves as the military command center for the Order of the Nail. On the ground floor, racks of weapons, armor, barding, ammunition, and other implements of war line a number of aisles whose shelves rise to the ten-foot ceiling above. The second floor serves as a strategic command center, where detailed maps of Varisia, the Mindspin Mountains, and Cheliax hang on the walls. A three-dimensional replica of the areas surrounding Korvosa occupies a table in the center of the room, on which miniature armies are positioned in strategic locations. From the cellars below the keep, the sound of clinking hammers and billowed forges echoes through the building. At least two dozen low-ranking Hellknights filter in and out, performing routine maintenance on all their gear.
Leading the group up a set of wider stairs, the Field Maralictor opens a set of double-doors for you. As per protocol, the doors behind you are closed without a word. In the room stands the Mistress of Blades, 7 ft. tall and weighing easily over 1,000 lbs. The female centaur is clad in a Hellknight plate/barding combination, and vocally overpowers the meeting-in-progress surrounding her with relative ease.
"So," she says. "I understand you seek the freedom of our Chelish guest? Leave us, Hellknights, so that we may converse," she adds as she approaches the group.
Erin Alegra
|
Erin waits for the other hellknights to leave the room, then replies.
"That is correct Mistress Vox. We believe she has been wrongfully imprisioned, but I do believe guest would be a better term for it as there is no reason to hold her against her will at this point."
| GM Burglar |
"She certainly didn't present herself very well when she was brought in. She was as unruly as any random thug from Riddleport, spouting curses at us and threatening to go 'above our heads to Abrogail'." She crosses her arms and begins pacing around the room. "Look, I'll be honest with you; Folks come up here on a weekly basis, claiming that 'their uncle had no idea those vases were stolen from some family's crypt' or that 'the beggar their brother killed attacked him first, despite all the reports'." She looks to the group in a momentary pause. "I've captured brigands, thieves, and murderers from all across the great nation of Varisia; cleaning it up, one by one. I've judged all these criminal's characters and found them all to be guilty beyond a shadow of a doubt. Their families and friends would come up to my and lie to my face, trying to prove their supposed innocence, and I have to turn them away. Never once has anyone ever convinced me my instincts were ever wrong."
"I suppose the better question is, 'Can you prove her innocence to me?'"
Marduk Beastblood
|
Now this is a warrior, Marduk thought admiringly.
The sooner you sign our paperwork, the sooner she'll be releasesed and you can return to your important duties."
"Not that I wouldn't mind watching you work..."
| GM Burglar |
She responds to Marduk with a hearty laugh, appropriate for a woman her size. "Ha, a little man with big plans, I see. Tell me, sir, what makes you think you'd be allowed to sit in on one of these boring meetings? Or perhaps you meant something more invigorating?" She asks, lowering her head to make level eye contact with Marduk.
Marduk Beastblood
|
Marduk matched the centauress’s gaze.
”You wouldn't be the first Hellknight to find my presence useful, but I am not a creature that finds purpose in boring meetings. I would much prefer to see how you perform in a more physical setting. Or perhaps all that power is for show?”
The hulking orc leaned forward to whisper in the giant woman’s ear.
Ashur Glaber
|
"By the gods, you work fast. Wait, how would that even work?" Ashur clears his voice loudly. "The signature?"
| GM Burglar |
"Signature? You've proven nothing except that one of you is capable of talking big." She turns her head back to Marduk. "Maybe you'd like to see just how strong a true justicar is?" She trots over to the meeting table and pushes a huge stack of the paper aside. She rests one of her elbows in the midst of the new clearing.
And, no, she's probably NOT implying anything like that, no matter how much the half-orc wants it.
Marduk Beastblood
|
That’s alignment discrimination!
Marduk approaches the table with a challenging gleam in his dark eyes.
With little flourish, the half-orc stretches briefly before putting his own elbow on the table and gripping the centaur’s hand.
”Maybe after I show you what real strength looks like, you’ll give up that signature…”
Strength: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (13) + 9 = 22
If it seems like she’s putting up a fight, Marduk will rage for +2 more.
Kulik
|
KULIK notes the situation with a bit of a smile. Impressive strength in this one. I wonder if Desna favors her in her own way, too?
He hesitates a moment, to see if Marduk rises to her challenge. When the sorcerer does, KULIK simply says, KULIK ashk Lady Luck to guide Marduk person, and claps him on the back (guidance).
Ashur Glaber
|
Ashur chuckles as Marduk is shot down. He just watches as Marduk engages in the test of strength.
| GM Burglar |
Strength: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 24
As the Mistress' hand almost hits the table, she focuses and musters up some strength from her beliefs! Yay, Hellknight Discipline!
24 + 2 = 26
She then unless you have any more clinch abilities, barely whomps Marduk's hand on the oak desk.
Breathing just as heavily as the half-orc, she returns to a full standing position. "You're definitely strong, but you underestimated the strength a Nail can call upon in a time of need. Now, you were here to present your case?"
Reminder; Roll whenever you're ready and +4 for Marduk on the assumption he's using Intimidate
Marduk Beastblood
|
I have a Paizo shirt reroll. Can I use it here?
Marduk Beastblood
|
What does the Eh mean?
Marduk Beastblood
|
Well my out of game council suggested against it so I guess I'll hold off on the reroll...
Marduk is shocked as the centuaress catches him off guard and overpowered him. He growls playfully as the display impresses him even more.
"Our case can wait! Best two out of three! Unless the justicar is frightened."
Ashur Glaber
|
Ashur can't help it as he suddenly snorts. "I have a feeling he's already figured it out." He whispers back painfully.
Kulik
|
KULIK looks at Erin blankly for a moment, then says, But...how will bathing centaur person-type help...?
He shakes his head in confusion, then prays to Desna to guide Marduk again.
| GM Burglar |
"Frightened? No. But as much fun as it is to play around with a green, little two-legs you, I believe you actually have something truly important to present. If we are holding someone unjustly, I want to be sure everyone is getting only their proper judgement." She states as her armor clanks while stretching her torso parts.
She smirks at Marduk, "Maybe if you can impress me that way, we'll have that rematch."
Ashur Glaber
|
Ashur whispers into Kulik's ear as to explain what Erin and Marduk earlier meant. Mainly that it had little to do with washing.
Marduk Beastblood
|
The big orc deflated at the centaur's refusal and he motioned with disinterest at Erin.
"We have some papers you might want to see."
Marduk Beastblood
|
"Woman, don't make me hold you down and make you read them!" Marduk growls.
Intimidate: 1d20 + 10 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 10 + 4 = 30
Kulik
|
KULIK's eyes widen as Ashur whispers to him.
Slowly a wave of realization comes across him as he begins piecing together Ashur's explanation with Marduk's remark from the previous evening, and his eyes narrow at the sorcerer; but Ashur reminds him of their mission too, and KULIK softens his stance slightly.
Marduk person mean that papersh show Zarta person to be not guilty, he says, holding his hand forth to allow Erin to step forward and present the evidence.
Diplomacy assist to Erin: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20
Erin Alegra
|
"You are being straight enough with us so I will extend you the same courtesy. I could care less if Dralneen rots the rest of her days in here. However I have been tasked with bringing you this information ,proving her innocence, and escorting her back to town. From what I can see in this paperwork, she is not guilty of this crime."
Erin states, placing the papers on the table for the centaur to read.
Bluff 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (11) + 9 = 20
Ashur Glaber
|
"I'm sure that's what you'd make her do if you held her down..." Ashur mutters to himself sarcastically.
| GM Burglar |
Her smirk continues as she accepts the tube of papers. "Well, now, that's more like it. Proud."
1/3
@Erin "Forward. I like that. Paperwork, lengthy titles, and meaningless conversation is more Acillimar's forte, but I suppose I can figure this out."[/b] She begins to leaf through the explanation pages.
2/3
"Pfft... like he'd be the one in control in that situation..." her voice says from behind the paper stack.
Marduk Beastblood
|
"Does the paperwork satisfy you?" Marduk asked impatiently. "We aren't leaving without your signature and I'm not leaving without a rematch."
Intimidate: 1d20 + 10 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 10 + 4 = 32
"You won't surprise me with your tricks this time woman."
Erin Alegra
|
After a few moments of allowing her to sift through the papers Erin continues on.
"So as you can see, she really was not there when everything went down. Lawfully we have to take her with us as she is just not guilty. If you could just sign there for her release."
She finishes, then jokingly adds.
"If you would also do me the favor of thoroughly emasculating Marduk again before we go, it may keep him humble enough to keep him quiet on the trip back to town."
Marduk Beastblood
|
Marduk chuckled, "What makes you think that'd keep me quiet?"
| GM Burglar |
"Very well. I'll sign your document AND beat your friend again."
She takes the Affidavit and lifts one hoof to the table. It begins to emanante a minor hear as she stamps it onto the paper, leaving a clear hoofmark with nail-shaped patterns in the metalworking.
"Now, for him," she says, kneeling down to the table again.
Strength: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (15) + 8 = 23
Marduk Beastblood
|
Marduk grins wide between his tusks and puts out his arm.
Strength with Rage: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (13) + 11 = 24
Marduk Beastblood

Thanks guys. I'm glad you're on my side. =P
Kukik, us half-orcs gotta stick together.
