Teos huffs in annoyance.

small grapple rant:
I'm pretty sure attacking is not an option for a pinned creature. Also, I'm controlling the grapple. If he want's to take control of it, he can do that (as a standard action), but I don't think his free grab from a bite would come into play. He could bite me if he were just grappled, but even then I really don't think he gets to attack and get a free chance to control the grapple via grab. Now, either of those rolls is enough to get himself free, so he's free from pin one way or the other (since you go straight from pinned to free on a successful grapple check). 'Course, your game, your rules. I'll wait on my actions until you've decided on the issue
.

pinned:
A pinned creature is tightly bound and can take few actions. A pinned creature cannot move and is denied its Dexterity bonus. A pinned character also takes an additional –4 penalty to his Armor Class. A pinned creature is limited in the actions that it can take. A pinned creature can always attempt to free itself, usually through a combat maneuver check or Escape Artist check... Pinned is a more severe version of grappled, and their effects do not stack.

KN: arcana DC 10:
You believe the esoboks were likely summoned by someone.

Carrying the woman back to the temple, you find a priest who heals her and brings her back to consciousness. She thanks the party profusely for saving her, then bids you goodbye.

Heading back out into the city, you move toward the gate between the Living City and the Necropolis. Sturdy doors of iron and bronze stand in the high sandstone wall, barring entry to and egress from the city's necropolis. Barred windows in the gates offer brief glimpses of what lies beyond.

A young acolyte of Pharasma and several town guards currently watch the necropolis gates, behind which a mob of undead creatures can be heard groaning and pounding on the metal. The acolyte holds up a hand as the party approaches. "Citizens, please return to your homes. This is no place for the inexperienced."

He knows that aside from being incorporeal, shadows are resistant to channeling, and if one completely drains the strength from its target, the target will die, then shortly after rise as a shadow itself.
