"Gurgle, gurgle."
Harkuf Tombguard |
Harkuf wonders aloud, "Are we gonna meet our doom at the mandibles of a giant bug?" He tries again to hit the centipede.
Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
Oi.
GM Tektite |
I was hoping you guys would kill this thing while I was gone....
Teos swings wildly at the centipede, but fails to connect.
Seherab lays on the ground unconscious!
Harkuf ponders mortality and misses with his attack!
Arkhef stabs, but also misses the creature!

More gurgles.
Actually, I think I do need to stabilize because I'm actually negative. I thought maybe I didn't at first because of the nonlethal but that's only if you are unconscious from nonlethal but not actually negative.
stabilize: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 1 = 21
Good to go.
Harkuf Tombguard |
Harkuf again swings his big stick at the giant centipede.

Whew...
Teos Oldwise |
Teos, breathing heavily, looks with concerned wrinkles upon his forehead at Ankhef.
Have healing? he signs.
Seherab Menedes Glyphkeeper |
Seherab has a couple light green extracts on his belt that look suspiciously like cure light wounds potions.
Teos Oldwise |
Teos pulls out smelling salts and waves them under Harkuf's nose.
Seherab Menedes Glyphkeeper |
Someone gets the idea to feed Seherab one of his extracts:
clw: 2d8 + 4 ⇒ (6, 1) + 4 = 11
Seherab wakes up, choking and coughing. He shakes his head and asks if we have more healing available.
Didn't we buy a cure light wounds wand? Or am I misremembering? I've used all the healing I've got on hand.
Seherab Menedes Glyphkeeper |
clw: 2d8 + 2 ⇒ (3, 5) + 2 = 10
Two charges from the company wand bring the scholar back to full health. "Well, that was a challenge. Good work bringing it down. Is there anything of interest in this sandy old courtyard do you think?"
Seherab takes his time scouring the courtyard, even digging through sand if necessary.
Ankhef Glyphkeeper |
I forgot completely about the wand, been a busy couple weeks for me. GM, if you don't mind, I'd prefer to use the wand and save my spells. Means 1 fewer healing to each of you and we'll need a few more charges to heal up but can continue on instead of retreating to rest.
Teos Oldwise |
Teos rubs multiple wounds covering his party, looking anxious at the thought of continuing on. He begs more healing from Ankhef.
3d8 + 3 ⇒ (2, 2, 6) + 3 = 13 3 charges
Ankhef, do you mind tracking charges on that wand?
Seherab Menedes Glyphkeeper |
Seherab leads the way to the next corner to peer around.
Harkuf Tombguard |
Harkuf is roused, and takes some healing from the communal wand.
CLW Wand: 3d8 + 3 ⇒ (5, 8, 8) + 3 = 24
And he's feeling back to fighting shape. He follows closely beside Seherab.
Seherab Menedes Glyphkeeper |
While Ankhef casts his spell, Seherab moves along to the door of the outside building and checks along the seams for signs of traps before letting himself in.
If it's locked:
Disable Device: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 28
GM Tektite |
A rectangular stone building sits in the northwest corner of the estate. At each corner stand columns carved to resemble men and women with their arms crossed over their chests. A set of stone doors stands in the southern face of the building, carved with bas-relief faces of two men. Hieroglyphs are carved into the doors just beneath the faces.
The Ancient Osiriani hieroglyphs identify the building as the “crypt of
the House of Pentheru”[i/] and warn, [i]“May defilers be cursed by the gods until their day of judgment.”
Seherab merely gives the lock a stern look and the doors open for him! Witin a set of stone stairs lead down.
Teos Oldwise |
Teos circles his fingers, indicating the remainder of the compound, and then shrugs questioningly.
Seherab Menedes Glyphkeeper |
Seherab nods to Teos. "Yes, let us finish the rest up here before looking in the crypts. I would hope that the gods do not view us as defilers."
Seherab leads the way back to the double doors, investigating them as usual, and then lets himself in.
Harkuf Tombguard |
Harkuf carefully steps into the hallway and takes a look around.
Perception + Guidance: 1d20 + 7 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 7 + 1 = 16
GM Tektite |
Ankhef detects no magic in the immediate vicinity, while Harkuf moves in a bit and looks around.
Straight ahead, he sees a tiled walkway surrounds a square patch of earth and sand in this high atrium. A balcony on the second floor overlooks the courtyard, and a square hole in the ceiling opens to the sky. Four columns in the corners of the atrium support the roof above, and the walls are decorated with symbols and hieroglyphs depicting animals, celestial creatures, and the sun and moon.
To the south, he sees a large staircase that climbs to the second floor from the room. Sand and dust cover the floor, and painted columns stand in all but one of the corners. Pieces of broken wood, shattered pottery, and disintegrating fabric litter the room’s perimeter.
To the north, he sees an enormous stone table, the marble top polished and smooth, runs parallel to the west wall of this large room. A much smaller stone table stands in the east side of the room. Splintered piles of dust and wood lie in the corners and along the walls—the only remains of chairs after untold years. A strong, fetid stench pervades the room.
Teos Oldwise |
Teos holds his palm open, indicating for the others to hold still.
He advances into the courtyard ahead of them, the hairs on the back of his neck raised nervous hackles.

Teos edges into the courtyard, peering around cautiously, but see nothing. Suddenly a pile of sand manifests into a humanoid shape and races toward the monk!

Also, go go meta-knowledge. I'm pretty sure I fought this exact thing in a PFS game on Wednesday. If this is what I think it is, might want to double check on that save type.
