I like those systems but I can't really think of any organizations Seherab would be interested in joining. He's not really a magic user (other than a few extracts, which probably don't really count) and he probably wouldn't be interested in a temple or monastery. I'll think about it some more.

GM Tektite |

I've got some ideas for most everyone. I was going to use the auction to introduce them. (Actually, Seherab's jumped out at me.) Still working on them.
@Teos: We're you thinking of just a generic monastery or religious society. Have you seen the dojo from Inner Sea Combat for the Monastery of Tar Kuata?

Seherab Menedes Glyphkeeper |

Hm. I haven't looked at Inner Sea Combat for a while so I don't remember many of those. I was mostly referring to the Faction Guide stuff.

Teos Oldwise |

I don't have ISC. Yes, that does seem to be the place where the dwarven Pahmet/Ouat monks go to get trained. It is in the middle of the mountains where the dwarves live.
I can buy the book and take a look at those rules.

GM Tektite |

Dojos are training schools or academies that teach unarmed styles of combat and the exotic weapon forms that accompany such disciplines. While dojos can be as small and informal as a veteran pugilist instructing a handful of youths or even a single student in the village green, the Inner Sea region is also home to several prestigious dojos. As a dojo student’s Fame score increases, he gains the following rewards.
Art and Philosophy (5 Fame): Your study of the theory and the practice of your school’s chosen combat style has given you nimbleness of both the mind and body. You become specialized in either Acrobatics or one Knowledge skill of your choice.
Favored Student (20 Fame): Your training has enabled you to learn new tricks at a quicker pace. When using the retraining rules (Pathfinder RPG Ultimate Campaign 188) to retrain a character element with a retraining time of 5 or more days, the time required is reduced by 1 day.
Familiarity of Arms (35 Fame): Your training with monk weapons has given you familiarity with similar weapons, even if you are not proficient with them. When wielding a weapon with the monk weapon quality with which you are not proficient, you take a -2 penalty on attack rolls with that weapon instead of the normal –4 penalty.
Master (50 Fame): You become one of the masters of the dojo, and no longer need to pay dues—every time you would normally pay dues, you instead earn that amount of gold as your salary.
The Iroran monks of this mountainside monastery village train in a unique blend of asceticism and Ancient Osirian martial traditions. Among the inhabitants of the village and monastery are a small group of contemplative dwarves known as the Ouat, who consider themselves to be separate from dwarven tradition and aspire to ascend the limitations of their kind just as Irori and Nethys attained divinity through their own self-perfection.
Location Osirion
Requirements
Entrance Fee 200 gp
Entrance Requirement Climb DC 20 or Knowledge (religion)
DC 15
Dues 300 gp

Training Checks Climb, Knowledge (religion), Survival
Term 6 months
Flunk 4 consecutive failed Training checks

Awards
Cliff Diver (5 Fame, 2 PP) Your hours spent scaling the cliffs that cradle the village of Tar Kuata have made stopping a dangerous fall second nature to you. If you possess the slow fall class feature, your slow fall distance increases by 10 feet. If you do not have this class feature, you gain a +4 circumstance bonus on all Acrobatics checks to soften a fall.
Patron’s Pilgrim (35 Fame, 10 PP) You have communed with the wind spirits who guard the reliquary atop the monastery’s spire. You become specialized in a single Knowledge skill of your choice and receive the benefits of a single legend lore spell. You must purchase this award while atop the spire, in the presence of the spirits there.
I'm also considering modifying awards and such to suit the campaign.

GM Tektite |

Well, to expedite this and get going, I was thinking of the following possibilities of factions. Feel free to participate or not.
Seherab:
Esoteric Order of the Palatine Eye (Occult Mysteries)
Conference Z (Occult Mysteries)
Ankhef:
Night Heralds (Occult Mysteries)
Esoteric Order of the Palatine Eye (Occult Mysteries)
Harkuf:
Green Faith (Faction Guide)
Esoteric Order of the Palatine Eye (Occult Mysteries)
Teos:
Already done
Esoteric Order is sort of like the Masons, with an interest in ancient Osirion.
Conference Z is sort of the Apsis black ops division.
Essentially, the offers were going to made to everyone, so feel free to pick what you'd like.
I'm going to move us forward and we can address faction as we go.

Seherab Menedes Glyphkeeper |

Oo! I like the idea of joining the Esoteric Order! They just showed up in our Carrion Crown campaign too so that's cool.

Teos Oldwise |

I am away on vacation through Sunday the 5h, with unknown internet connectivity. Bot as necessary.

Teos Oldwise |

Some quick treasure thoughts:
Scroll of burning hands, color spray and grease to Ankhef (only one who could use them).
Scroll of shield for Seherab's formulary.
+1 dagger to Seherab (I have magic fists already, and Harkuf has Shillelagh if he needs a magic weapon.)

Seherab Menedes Glyphkeeper |

That sounds good to me. Eventually I'll get my short sword enhanced but the dagger is fine for now.

Pirate Rob |

I'm going to be at GenCon and largely out of contact from July 28th - August 3rd.
If you happen to be there and want to say hi I'll be the 6'4" Pirate trying to keep his sanity while mustering for the ACG in the morning/afternoon.
I'll also be at Scotty's on Wednesday and at the VC dinner. If you want to find some other time to say hi send me a PM or email and we'll figure something out.

Seherab Menedes Glyphkeeper |

Unfortunately I won't be able to make it this year. I was scheduled to GM six PFS games (including all four specials) but I had to back out at the last minute. Since our lab studies corn, we are getting to a very busy time of year now and the lab technician who would have covered for me while I was gone just quit rather unexpectedly so I am no longer able to get that time off work. Bummer!

![]() |

I'm in the midst of moving - sorry for slow posting. We'll be in the new place on August 1st, starting that day, I will likely be without internet for a couple of days - getting it set up on Monday the 3rd, but I may be out longer.

GM Tektite |

A couple things for you guys.
First, Harkuf has decided to drop out of this game due to real life time constraints/burnout. We've talked and I understand his position. Bold Strider has agreed to step in and take over Harkuf's spot. (He's working on a character concept, now.)
Second, my wife and I will be travelling to Italy at the end of next week and will be gone from Aug. 22 through Sept. 2. The hotel is supposed to have wifi (it better based on what it's costing us) and I should be able to update occasionally. This will be my first time overseas, and our first visit to Italy, so I suspect we will be very busy being tourists, so posting will most definitely be slow. On the plus side, with meeting this nosoi, we are finally out of the sandbox-y first portion of this book and will now be entering a more linear, traditional dungeon delve. I anticipate the game moving faster once I get back from our trip.

Seherab Menedes Glyphkeeper |

I'll be sad to see Harkuf go but I think we all understand, having gotten overwhelmed with PbP ourselves at various times.
I'm very excited to see what BS brings though and hopefully some fresh blood will rouse us all to pick up the pace and move things forward more quickly. I'm enjoying the group and the AP a lot. Investigator has been pretty fun so far, even if my combat prowess is mediocre at best.

Got a couple concepts that I wanted opinions on. Rolled three random witch patrons: Occult, Plague and Winter.
Thinking either Medium Witch with Occult or Plague or Winter Witch with Winter and maybe a dip in Sorcerer.
Thoughts?

Seherab Menedes Glyphkeeper |

Is any particular build better against undead? I would say anything that can fight undead is going to be powerful in this AP; otherwise, I don't think there will be a huge difference between any of those and we can fit you in to the party one way or another.

Teos Oldwise |

Thoughts?
Threnodic spell? Maybe a rod of it?
The dip into sorcerer would be (I assume) to get the undead bloodline.

Teos Oldwise |

Tektite, would you mine retiring my Taran icon from this game? I'll mix up my dwarfs less frequently that way (ie, it won't float to the top of my alias list anymore when posting)

Brynark the Cold |

Bold Strider checking in with a dwarven ice mage that has seen some ****!
He is an outcast from the far north as he was Baba Yaga's mistake. She imbued some dwarf with some of her awesome power one day and this dwarf had other dwarves that had the dwarf you see crafted before you. He is really good at cold spells and not so good at not cold spells. He has a pet Stoat named Philip that can usually be seen wrapped around Brynark's neck as a brilliant tattoo.
Thoughts?

Brynark the Cold |

Sound good?

Brynark the Cold |

Maybe later, I dunno! Rime is a powerful debuff, so it might be useful, but I just couldn't find space for it. I thought about dropping Irrisen Ice Mage, but I liked having a feat for a dwarf from Irrisen that specializes in cold magic. The best part of the spell is sadly not useful to Brynark as his Water Elemental bloodline lets him change any spell to Cold, so its basically a +1 CL to Cold spells and -1 CL to non-Cold spells, which I'm torn on. Witches don't get many scaling cold spells it seems!

Teos Oldwise |

Teos will secure a few potions of shield of faith and mage armor for himself for the battle ahead.
Since brother Harkuf is returning to the clanhold, perhaps he will bequeath a few of the choicer items back to our righteous cause.
Anhef:
wands of cure light wounds (one fully charged, one at ~21 charges)
scroll of daylight
scroll of cure moderate wounds
Brynark the Cold
pearl of power, 1st level (assuming we find you tolerable once we meet you :) )
We have just under 2600 gp if anyone has any requests.
Should we purchase anything to facilitate stealth? Scrolls of invisibility, spider climb, or the like? (I'm not a stealthy monk yet, sadly)

Seherab Menedes Glyphkeeper |

Eventually I would like to make my shortsword my main weapon and get that magicked to +1 but for now I have that +1 dagger to cover my magic needs. Perhaps upgrading some armor would be a better use of the money along with a few consumables (potions of fly? we're bound to fight flying enemies sometime).

Brynark the Cold |

Pirate Rob AND EF in my PbP GameDay game. Woo woo!

Teos Oldwise |

Hooligans, I say.
EDIT: Also, I am surprised, and maybe a little jealous, to have just learned that EF has a space pirates game. Whoa.

Brynark the Cold |

Now I only need to find at least two more to join us.

Seherab Menedes Glyphkeeper |

Hooligans, I say.
EDIT: Also, I am surprised, and maybe a little jealous, to have just learned that EF has a space pirates game. Whoa.
Haha! That started out as a joke that Burglar made: the best way to utilize PFS campaign mode for APs is to set them IN SPAAAAAACE! Like "Rise of the Runelords IN SPAAAAAACE!" I thought it was funny and then after thinking about it decided it would work perfect for S&S. It is my loosest-form, anything-goes game. Custom races and archetypes (a warpriest of the Force, a madness sorcerer, a protoss slayer) and we just reskin/reflavor everything as we go. Crossbows are sonic rifles and things like that. And if you can't think of anything to reflavor, just stick "space" in front of it; tridents become space tridents and mummies become space mummies.

Ankhef Glyphkeeper |

As a quick note I'm going to be traveling this Thursday - Monday.
I don't expect to be able to post on Thursday and Monday, but the days in between should be fine, although likely a little slower than normal.

Seherab Menedes Glyphkeeper |

Seeing as the GM is still in Italy I don't think it will be much of an issue, haha.
