Blaine punches the beast with his Cestus. His Cestus scorches from the heat and his fist starts to get 2nd degree burns on it.
Fire Damage to Cestus: 8d6 ⇒ (2, 4, 4, 2, 2, 4, 3, 5) = 26 Energy attacks are halved, leather is easy to break but it also has metal plating, let's just say it is broken.

Cestus: While wearing a cestus, you are considered armed and your unarmed attacks deal normal damage. If you are proficient with a cestus, your unarmed strikes may deal bludgeoning or piercing damage."

Omrax will move up and lays a healing hand on Blaine as well.
"Sir Blaine, I thought we had lost you. You must live to fight another day, by the will of the Inheritor, you shall! . "
hands, mercy : 3d6 + 1d6 ⇒ (4, 1, 4) + (1) = 10 ok, maybe the inheritor wants it to be a challenge?

Eli'thir flies up high and tries to distract to the Remorhaz, but the creature is out for blood against Blaine.
Blaine punches his way to freedom at the cost of his Cestus.
Quiven fires two arrows that pierce the Remorhaz's armor plating, but does very little.
1=Omrax; 2= Fredrik: 1d2 ⇒ 2
Fredrick and Omrax charge their hands with positive energy and dash forward to heal their nearly dead compatriot. The Remorhaz sees the two runners and reaches down to pluck Fredrik off the ground with his maw. The bite crushes most of Fredrik's body, but the searing heat finishes him off. Sorry Merck...
Bite: 1d20 + 19 - 4 ⇒ (10) + 19 - 4 = 25
Grab: 1d20 + 25 - 4 ⇒ (5) + 25 - 4 = 26

Fire Damage: 8d6 ⇒ (5, 5, 5, 4, 3, 6, 4, 1) = 33
The crowd of Taer on the nearby slope grows before a gutteral howl erupts from the group as Fredrik is crushed to death by the Remorhaz. Their beating drums echoing across the mountaintop.
Omrax uses this opportunity to sprint forward and use his Lay on Hands on the Blaine, hoping to get him back into fighting shape.
The Remorhaz drops the dead body to the ice below before lashing out violently at the creature who would dare try to steal its eggs and just punched a hole through its stomach.
Bite: 1d20 + 19 - 4 ⇒ (7) + 19 - 4 = 22
Grab: 1d20 + 25 - 4 ⇒ (14) + 25 - 4 = 35
Bite Damage: 2d8 + 13 + 12 ⇒ (8, 7) + 13 + 12 = 40
Fire Damage: 8d6 ⇒ (2, 1, 4, 5, 3, 5, 4, 1) = 25
The Remorhaz crushes Blaine between its maw and sears his flesh to a crisp. Sorry Blaine...
A second death of the Pathfinders intensifies the howling of the Taer and the drums beat quicker. A pool of water is developing under the Remorhaz as its scorching blaze melts the ice and snow around it.
Lem gasps at the gruesome end to two of his friends. He sees Blaine's pack on the ground and grabs it. Guys, we can't beat this thing! We need to get out of here! He tosses the pack to Quiven before casting Invisibility on the rogue. Get to the sleds and get those bones to safety!

Omrax stands looking in horror and disbelief as he sees two of his friends burnt to death before his eyes. He nods slowly at Lem's comment as he ponders his action.
• I will never abandon a companion, though I will honor
sacrifice freely given.
• I will guard the honor of my fellows, both in thought
and deed, and I will have faith in them.
"Get clear! We must not let their deaths be for naught!"
Omrax wait to see that the others are able to move to safety or out of reach from the beast. He will then swiftly cast "grace" and move towards the sleds.
He looks down at Blaine's body and if he thinks he can pull it and still make the sleds, he will do so.

Elithir
|
Eli'thir winces at the remorhaz's prowess in murder and briefly pines for the sorts of Pathfinder accomplices he is usually hesitant to see assigned to his missions - the witches with the magicks that seem to put creatures like this to sleep so easily.
Believing himself to still be able to best such a creature with the tactical advantage of flight and bombs, he glides backward slightly while hurling another pellet grenade at the beast.
Thrown item (ranged touch, -6 for range): 1d20 + 11 + 2 + 1 - 6 ⇒ (2) + 11 + 2 + 1 - 6 = 10 for 3d6 + 4 ⇒ (6, 6, 1) + 4 = 17
"Lem has the right of it! I will do what I can to continue to attract it... or drive it off. Use whatever magic you may have to get away!"
Eli'thir watches as his grenade soars at the creature and wonders how many of the Pathfinders purchased potions to allow themselves to escape situations such as these.

Does the beast (or the taer) seem to be following, or leaving us alone on the sleds? Omrax will pilot the sled with Blaine, and assumes Eli'thir and Quiven will take the other. How much effort is expended while piloting the sleds? Can Omrax also take move actions (like pulling stuff out of a haversack?
"Eli'thir, if it were only the beast, we could probably take it by flight. However, with the apes coming in, I know we cannot take them all."
Elithir
|
I'm not sure how we want to handle the "clean-up" for this fight, so I'll post some general plans for Eli that perhaps take us through multiple rounds of initiative.
Eli'thir seeing Omrax climb aboard one of the sleds while observing the reins of the second grasped by some sort of invisible presence, narrows his eyes and sets a firm jaw at the remorhaz.
Essentially, he doesn't want the remorhaz chasing down the sleds, so he wants to give his allies time to get them going, while trying to keep the remorhaz's attention from a safe height/distance. I imagine the threat to the remorhaz's eggs will keep it here versus letting it give chase. But that's more of a hope...
Second, we'll want Fredrik's body so he doesn't need to pay for a body recovery for whatever PFS ID he's giving the Kyra credit to whenever this chronicle would apply to that PC. I don't think we have that body yet.
Eli floats past the remorhaz, continuing to maintain a safe distance while taunting at the creature and hoping it does not possess a yet-unseen ability to spit fire.
"Here! Monster! I am about to steal your eggs!"
He gazes off at his still-living allies in the distance, hoping that they can get their sleds started and get safely away while he distracts the beast.
Eli has 7 minutes of flight. Over the course of the next several he'd try to use his speed (90ft while hasted) to lure the creature away from Fredrik's body enough to fly in and pick it up (he still has Ant Haul up) and then fly after and catch up to the sleds in the remaining minutes.
| GM Bold Strider |
@Omrax: Standard action to Handle Animal to pilot the sleds. Can still use move action equivalents.
The thirty or so Taer start to growl ominously as the Pathfinders run for the sleds. A third of them chase after Omrax, hooting and howling. The drumbeats cease in a deafening silence as the Remorhaz roars, taking up a defensive position around its eggs. Ten of the Taer, angered by Eli'thir's flight throw javelins at him.
Javelins: 10d20 ⇒ (17, 5, 1, 1, 8, 16, 3, 8, 4, 1) = 64 Can only hit on a natural 20.
They all miss, peppering the far side of the clearing. More Taer seem to be joining the group on the plateau and the Pathfinders hear drums echoing from several other places nearby.
Also, you may want to rethink this plan Eli'thir. Sled dog teams run at speeds up to 28 mph on flat ground. Even if we assume they are going slower than that... 22-24mph? They would be travelling at 210 feet/round and your speed while flying and hasted would be 180 feet/round. This doesn't factor in the sleds travelling downhill.
Quiven Glist
|
Quiven will get on the sled, placing the backpacks of the fallen on it. If Eli drives, Quiven will try to hang on as they attempt to flee from the Taer.
I'm semi-unclear whether we are still in initiative or not.
Omrax the Bold
|
Omrax also has a potion of fly, but was not sure that would help with Quiven, the 3 bodies and the dogs sleds with the mission. If he thought he could do an aerial assault against 30 taers and the remoraz he would stay and shoot from the air .
Elithir

Eli's exact plans to give the others a chance to flee and fetch bodies seems like it's all okay given the OOC comments about body fetching, right?
I imagine someone hasted and flying with a speed of 90 would still be faster than dogs with a speed of 50 though. If the dogs were using sprint actions to move 150ft/round, Eli could also have conceivably used sprint actions (while flying) to move 270ft/round to catch up, which wouldn't hopefully take too long if they only had a 3-4 round head start.
Eli, seeing the others fleeing a safe distance, turns abruptly from the remorhaz and soars after them, landing on the sled behind Quiven with a thud.
"Well that was... unfortunate."
| GM Bold Strider |
I have no idea. I just looked up dog sled speeds and found that they usually top out around 28mph. Then I calculated that into feet per second and compared to yours.
The party rests for a few hours. The Taer don't seem to be chasing them. They recovered the bodies of Fredrik and Blaine as well as the gear of those two and Lem. Can be useful for selling and purchasing Ressurections

Elithir
|
After their brief break, Eli'thir straps his mutagen to his belt alongside numerous other alchemical containers and gives the others a curt nod that reveals little trace of mourning for the fallen Pathfinders.
"I am ready to make our return."
| GM Bold Strider |
Eli'thir, Omrax and Quiven takes the bodies of Fredrik and Blaine down the mountain at a slow and methodical pace. The trip down the mountain is uneventful as they pass all of the landmarks they had seen earlier, but this time with a much more somber tone.
Behind them and around them, drums and smoke signals swiftly spread the beastmen’s voices through the lower peaks. The violation of the holy lands, slaying of their brethren, and theft of their most sacred creature's eggs has roused them to war against any humans they encounter, including the small waystation at Cania’s Drop. By the time you return, the tribes of the lower hills have already laid siege to the waystation and its men bravely fight the onslaught of terrifying beastmen.
As you approach Cania’s Drop, you spot gouts of thick black smoke smearing angrily across the pale sky and smell the scent of burning wood. A quick look around sights the source of the fire as Cania’s Drop. The waystation is under siege and its roof is burning. Its brave men rush out. Their clothes aflame, they drop and roll in the snow only to meet with the vicious fangs and claws of waiting beastmen. You have only a short time to come to the aid of the besieged waystation before all perish to the enraged taers.
The fire has consumed a portion of the waystation and if it isn’t extinguished quickly, the flames spread out of control and the waystation burns to cinders and ash. The flames deals 3d6 points of damage per round, and if they deal more than 100 hp damage to the waystation, it’s destroyed. If you spend any time throwing snow or water on the fire, they can dampen and even put out the flames. For the sake of determining damage to the building, a bucket of water removes 1d4 damage the building has taken so far—anything less than a bucket of water splashes uselessly on the flames. Damage-dealing water or cold-based spells can target the building to help put out the fire as well. If the hit points of the building ever reaches 100 again, the fire is out though part of the building is gutted.
As you approach the waystation, you spot a group of taer. This group of taer appear to be trying to start another fire on the opposite side of the waystation very close to the approaching Pathfinders.
| GM Bold Strider |
The party gets off of their dog sleds 100' from the waystation as it burns and sneak up on the distracted taer who are trying to start a fire.
Party gets a surprise round.

"It seems we have little choice but to aid these men and women."
The half-elf shields his eyes as he counts the taer in the distance.
"Those seven appear to be our first group of resistance. Surprisingly, I have yet to use one of these..."
The alchemist taps a long strap that runs along his torso decorated with thirteen flasks.
"Each of these is a potent explosive. Do not worry, the flames are nearly instantaneous and should not cause any harm to the settlement. Yet, I am afraid I cannot precisely ensure they avoid each of you in a melee."
(RP speak for no precise bombs and 10ft splash radius)
Eli'thir's elven brain quickly calculates the various odds and impact of quaffing his mutagen versus throwing a bomb while the taer are grouped up in the most fatal formation.
Eventually his brain decides that throwing a bomb to initiate combat is his most prudent choice, given that it is highly unlikely the taer will stay grouped for long.
He throws at the center taer to get all of them in the splash radius.
Bomb (explosive, ranged touch -2 for range increment): 1d20 + 10 - 2 ⇒ (11) + 10 - 2 = 19 for 4d6 + 4 ⇒ (4, 5, 6, 1) + 4 = 20
DC17 Reflex to take half damage. Splash is 8 or 4 damage. Apologizes to the GM for incurring so many Reflex save rolls!
In addition, due to the explosive bomb discovery, the center one needs to make a DC17 Reflex save or catch fire, burning for 1d6 damage per round until extinguished.
After throwing his bomb, Eli'thir takes a step back behind Omrax, recognizing the man's armor as superior defenses to his own while he is not under the effects of several of his elixirs.
Eli's stats and spoiler are updated to reflect the expiration of his mutagen, barkskin and ablative barrier. Technically his initiative dropped by 1 when the mutagen wore off as well, but that doesn't affect where he ended up in this one.

Omrax the Bold

assuming both Omrax swings missed and that the lucky hit was due to flanking?.
With
"these apes seem to be especially nimble. We good shots gentlemen. We must finish them. "
Omrax swings at one of the apes flanking him, or steps into flank.

Quiven continues to slash at the enemy! Either the one I have flanked now or I can 5' over to flank another, whoever is still up.
Left: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (15) + 11 = 26 for Damage: 1d4 + 2 + 3d6 ⇒ (2) + 2 + (6, 4, 1) = 15
Right: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (14) + 11 = 25 for Damage: 1d4 + 1 + 3d6 ⇒ (2) + 1 + (2, 1, 2) = 8
Elithir

I'm assuming Omrax and Quiven potentially drop another taer, leaving just 2-3 left to fight.
"Finish up the taer, I'm going to see if I can assist with the flames!"
Eli'thir disengages (withdraw action) over towards the burning building, hoping to locate a bucket or similar vessel to fill with the water being created from the snow by the fierce heats.
Not sure what actions are required, but he'd try to put himself in a location next round to be maximally effective. Or if it's possible to assist some of the other groups in combat so we can get NPCs assisting, he'd try that.

I just forgot to update the map! Haha. There were only two Taer left.
Omrax and Quiven both end the lives of the last two Taers assaulting this end of the camp.
Eli'thir moves to help put out the fire at the outpost.
It appears that the other groups are winning, but they aren't as adept at fighting as the three remaining Pathfinders.
You have two options: Aid the survivors to free up NPCs to help put out the building or try to put out the fire yourself.
