I'm going to be fairly scarce this week. My wife's father's health has taken a turn for the worse. He has been battling cancer for 2 years. Last week we were informed that it has metastasized into his stomach. He has been moved to hospice care. The whole faimly is congregating in Florida (we live in Kansas City) where her dad lives. I'll try to post when I can.
I will be home next Sunday and should be back to a regular posting schedule.

By the way, I put Ashka's Disable Device as 34 with Guidance, rather than 36, as by my understand of Aid Another (and how we play it locally) is that you can only aid to a limit which you could achieve, thus with you both taking 20, Varuna cannot boost Ashka beyond his own max, i.e. 31. But I'm not GMing, so this is just an explanation of why I wrote 34.
GM Baerlie |
I just reported the following:
After the warpriest casted guidance on one of the rogues the two rogues of the party tinker with the locking mechanism while two of the more agile agents climb the gates and lower ropes for everybody else to climb over to get as many agents to the Grand Lodge grounds as possible before the gatehopefully opens.
Ashka Halfshadow |
Do the coordinators not need to know the mechanics, such as the results of Disable Device checks? Seems like that would be necessary in order to see if the DC is reached. I'm mostly just curious, since this is working a little differently from other multi-table specials I've played in.

Baerlie, please bot me if I don't post quickly enough. Sorry, that I didn't mention it earlier, and thank you for decapitating the goblin on my behalf!!
GM Baerlie |
Just to clarify that and to avoid confusion: this is an old scenario, when it was released there was no 'official' Shadow Lodge (afaik) so it assumes you don't know it exists or does not exit any more.
If I change Osprey's reactions or information, I'd also change the plot of the story so please forgive me holding on to the story ;)
Goupil |
Oh ok. I was just making fun of the fact that pathfinder don't know that something is making them time-traveling all the time.
Zirlock |
I moved Ashka.
In general Distraction causes the Nauseated condition for 1 round, which only allows a Move Action, so I think that Wolfie is now fine.....?
Not trying to be a pest, but as I understand it, pulling out anything other than a weapon is a move action, so one can't move, pull out an item, then use it in the same round.

I imagine it will be late morning if it is a good party :-)
And when the GM allows us to buff before entering a room full of skeletons, it gets me worried!
I'm going to wait to see what the room layout is like and how many enemies we face before decided what Kent would do. He could take a step to the right, allowing the creatures to come out of the door one at a time, straight into a flank between he and Ashka, and an arrow (and no cover in between) from Oleander if she takes a step backward. If you don't want to do that, we can always pile into the room in a random fashion ;-)

I just checked, and Oleander doesn't have a blunt backup melee weapon, grr. Something to fix post scenario. Most of my characters have silver, MW mace or morning star to help with this or diabolical issues. So 5' step back and use use of blunt arrows sounds like the best bet.

re: wraiths.
Incorporeal creatures are immune to all non magical damage. Even if the GM were being kind and let us hurt them with fire, we would at best be doing half damage.
Given it has hung around in that room this long, I think we should hope it can't leave for whatever reason and quietly close the door.
Kentel Manseur |
Sorry, I got a bit lost in the OOC and IC. Have Ashka and Varuna shut the door?
Kent acts after the wraith, so I can't do anything until then.
Ashka Halfshadow |
I feel we have done the right thing by closing that door, glad everyone was okay with that suggestion. And I'm glad Baerlie made an executive decision to keep us moving.
I'm on vacation with my family through this week, so posting will be a bit unpredictable, but I'll make this game a priority.
Kentel Manseur |
I take it we have now moved on to the 'slice of pie' shaped room on the map? I take it the door is open and the Overseer GM's description is of what we see inside?
Zirlock |
Cool thanks. Can I use Knowledge Engineering to Aid Another if any of our braver, and more dextrous companions try disabling it with Disable Device? You know, to point out where the weak points might be, where the power source is, etc.
Is there also a way that I can aid the Pathfinders who have presumably been struck by the machine and are lying around on the floor of this room?
Kentel Manseur |
Nicely done Folks, that's a lot of damage. Kent is waiting to see if Charvion falls to Ashka's blade before risking charging through the Glitterdust to attack.
Gayel Nord |
That could be potentiely deadly. Imagine they start each time with a fireball.
Argh!

Question for the GM: Are we just waiting for the end now, or are we going to continue fighting 'bone-eaters'?
I just wondered if we had taken care of our share and you didn't want to start another one which we may not finish, or you are just having a busy weekend :-)

Thanks Baerlie! Great fun!
I'm going to retrain a class level by removing a level of sorcerer and adding a level of Figther. In the end, I'll be Fighter4/Sorcerer1. Could you please add that to my chronicle. It will cost me 7Prestige and 350gold.
Thanks!

Thanks again everyone for the enjoyable first PbP PFS game. Both I and Kent had fun, and that's him with enough XP to level up to play in a 5* GM 'qualifier' Slot 0, Tier 5-7 at PaizoCon UK :-)

Woot! Gratz! Have fun.
I had 2 GM credits waiting to get applied from local games I've run in June. SO, Val made 6 with this chronicle and is adding one level of DD after the retrain I posted above.
Varuna Varghese |
Great game, thanks for running. I always enjoy a really engaged group like this.
Was there any information as to what Charvion's goal was? Was he just trying to cause chaos and destruction?
GM Baerlie |
Day Jobs, please :)
Sure, I'll release the info from the Scenario script:
As a young Pathfinder, Charvion heard the call of the Shadow Lodge and quickly worked his way into the foundations of the organization. He now serves as an important figure in the movement and is considered to be among the more prominent leaders within the Shadow Lodge. Of course, he’s still masquerading as a Pathfinder as well, though after performing several indescribable acts, he garnered the title “Eater-of-Bones” and his reputation as one of the more radical Pathfinders is swiftly growing.
As part of his latest plot, Charvion has been vocalizing his fear that the Shadow Lodge is slowly slipping into the same sedentary glut that it was designed to overthrow. He’s growing impatient with the Shadow Lodge’s cautious plots to seize control of the Society, and perceives lack of action as failure. Despite a subtle shift in the balance of power, not enough has changed, and the Decemvirate still maintains its stranglehold of control over the Society at large. Now approaching middle-age, he knows if he fails to make a bid for power soon, his time shall pass, so he feels pressured to act—swiftly, dramatically, and if necessary, violently.
His impatience has not gone unheralded by others within the Shadow Lodge. His fellow higher-ranking agents are content to let the upstart act, as any blow weakening the Decemvirate enables their cause; however, they also need to waylay suspicions and downplay the role of the Shadow Lodge in such a reckless act of terrorism. In essence, they are prepared to let Charvion martyr himself. In fact, they have helped orchestrate his martyrdom. These same Shadow Lodge agents have arranged to display a recently discovered artifact of profound significance. Dubbed the Cage of Spirit Echoes, the device is rumored to have been designed to allow individuals to communicate with the souls of the departed. Secretly, they know of the Cage of Spirit Echoes’ potent enchantments and have hinted at its manipulations to Charvion, spurring his brazen plot to pluck the device from its showing at the Irorium in Absalom and use its power to attack the Grand Lodge. But the agents plan to cut all ties to Charvion and let him doom himself while unwittingly doing their dirty work.

Thanks for the game everyone, and for GMing Baerlie.
Oleanders day job was above (24 = 20gp)
