Ebon, shaking in suppressed fury, drops his sword and flings his arms wide, splattering blood everywhere.
" Gorum!"
He then falls to the floor and quietly passes into darkness.....
hoping to blood splatter the invisible little freak, revealing him, then falling prone and into a stable unconsciousness at -12hp.

GM Auke |

The bloodsplattered goblin steps victoriously on the downed body of Ebon.
"You go down! You all stay down!"
He swings his axe against Muluk. To Hit: 1d20 + 10 - 2 ⇒ (13) + 10 - 2 = 21 hits for damage: 1d6 + 6 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 + 6 = 14 downing the valiant Keleshite.
He then turn his gaze at Talwin!

I can stand up w/o a move, but can I grab my spear as a free/part of that move? Or must I draw a backup weapon as I stand? Also, If I don't take him down on THIS attack, we're all dead unless we get really lucky and he misses me...
Talwin grabs his spear and stands, switching his judgement to that of Justice (swift action), hoping for just a bit more chance of survival.
+1 sacred bonus to attacks, currently at 20.
Talwin then attacks!
Longspear: 1d20 + 8 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 8 + 1 = 14
Damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 4 = 12

You can't pick up/draw during standing up, so it will take 2 move actions. You can 5'step away, so you'll get an AoO
ifwhen Snarltongue charges you. I'll assume you do this.

GM Auke |

Talwin picks up his longspear, stands up and steps away from the raging goblin pointing the spear towards the green menace.
The last of the red liquid enters the goblin's skull and Snarltongue charges Talwin and gets hit, but it's not enough to stop the onslaught!
The goblin swings his axe towards Talwin's head.
To Hit: 1d20 + 10 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 10 + 2 = 27 and hits! :-( for damage: 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11.
Combat is over

GM Auke |

You are all unconscious and an unknown amount of time passes...
After a while, one by one, you regain consciousness and as you open your eyes, you see a familiar sight. You are all locked up in the cells you passed by earlier. Stripped of all equipment you are waiting for a fate yet unknown.
Next update will take some time, as I'm fully booked the rest of the day. Let's hope this adds to the suspense!

![]() |

Sorry guys, I just don't roll well enough to fight a foe that I need two rolls to hit... Murphy and the dice roller hate me. XD.

GM Auke |

You are all silently being observed by the small jailer, who is sitting on the bloodied table.
As it gets a good look at you, you in turn get a good look at it!
Knowledge Arcana
Targost: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17
Talwin: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23
It's a homunculus.
Amongst the both of you you know everything about these creatures, so feel free to read the entry I linked to! Please read the Telepathic Link. With the goblins in the cage next to you making quite a bit of noise it's probably safe to whisper amongst yourselves.

![]() |

Muluk supresses a snarl, gazing upon the twisted caricature of a man. "Can it be killed?" he asks Talwin and Targost.

![]() |

Talwin nods his head ever so slightly and whispers slowly to the others:
"It's a construct with a telepathic link to its master. The master can see or hear anything the construct can see or hear. It's not powerful in a fight, but it has a poisonous bite. My concern is more for who's watching us with it. Unarmed, we'd have to break out, and destroy it quickly somehow. And then maybe run. I have no more confidence we can face the dangers in here."
Talwin looks around for any sign of the party's gear.
GM, what is our status with respect to HP & daily abilities like spells?

GM Auke |

Talwin looks around for any sign of the party's gear.
GM, what is our status with respect to HP & daily abilities like spells?
Your gear is nowhere to be seen. Your spell components, holy symbols, actually everything except your undergarments have been taken. You currently are all on a single hitpoint. Your stomach gives you the feeling that more than 24 hours have passed.

![]() |

Birthmark trait, I don't need a holy symbol, but not much in spell selection. Shield of faith or bless, or 2 clw's.
Looking in disdain at the watchful guardian, Ebon begins to test the bars and examine the cell...
perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
" Aye, Gorum. You test me sorely..."

![]() |

Targost motioned the others to move close to him so he can talk to them.
"I think I can get us out of these cages, but then what? We are weak and without any of our equipment. I have a few spells left and could try and take-out the homunculus, but we should also have someone healed enough to deal with any other enemy we might come across. What do you think?"

GM Auke |

I have acid splash..and want to know if I could cast it on the bars or lock to help us escape?
The bars are too thick to dissolve in a reasonable amount of time and using acid on the lock might destroy it in such a way it couldn't be opened at all any more. You might use acidsplash to weaken the hinges, but this would probably alert the homunculus and thus its master.

GM Auke |

Suddenly the door opens and a man enters. His face is badly misformed, probably by some chemical explosion and his long leather coat holds many different colored vials.
"So... You decided to raid my lair? You petty criminals! Don't you understand that my work is bigger than anything you will ever accomplish? I will end famine, I will end disease, I will end death!"
Please check out the handouts for the artwork of both Snarltongue and Krenar!

Talwin tries to keep his expression calm and impassive, a true Judge of Abadar.
"Our apologies, sir. We had no idea these ruins were presently inhabited. And certainly no idea that such important work was being done. Please, we would know more of your efforts if you would care to share?"

Realizing what the emptiness in his belly means, Ebon turns his back to their jailor and kneeling, begins to pray.
" Temper this blade My Lord. Make me the steel that smites my enemies. Grant me the strength of Iron!"

GM Auke |

"Our apologies, sir. We had no idea these ruins were presently inhabited. And certainly no idea that such important work was being done. Please, we would know more of your efforts if you would care to share?"
"I am researching ways to improve people. My experimentations with goblins have been quite impressive!" He looks to the rightmost cell and grins.

![]() |

" Uhh....NOT stickin' bottles in my head! ....Tho four arms might be cool..."
Managing to look both revolted and intrigued, Ebon flexes, prepared to cast a few spells now and with some ability to heal as well after his prayers...

![]() |

"Well, yes, the cause of science is noble and all...but is there any chance you could be persuaded to change your mind on this point? As a member of Abadar's clergy, I have a number of very wealthy connections..."

" Uhh....NOT stickin' bottles in my head! ....Tho four arms might be cool..."
Managing to look both revolted and intrigued, Ebon flexes, prepared to cast a few spells now and with some ability to heal as well after his prayers...
"Oh, you misunderstand! I would never do my untested experimentations on unwilling people! That's why I use lower races like goblins! Unless you are volunteering..."

![]() |

Muluk gives a disgusted look at the mention of experimenting on living beings, but holds his tongue and uses his body to shield Ebon's prayers from the jailor's eyes.

GM Auke |

"So here's my deal. I'll let three of you go outside and collect six goblins. Alive and as unhurt as possible. If you succeed I'll give you back your equipment and your friend and you can tell your society that the ruins are deserted so I can experiment in peace. I in turn will give you yearly updates of my amazing discoveries! It's a win-win situation!"

![]() |

Talwin thinks for a moment.
"Well...that is not unreasonable. I'm not entirely sure of the legalities, considering our location...But you do ask a lot for a follower of Law. Hrmmm. I can't further the cause of good behind bars. Or from the grave. Which brings up another point. Would it be possible to at least have our armor? Goblins aren't always deadly, but they could be. For weapons, we could grab clubs or staves on our way."

Muluk remains stoic, mulling the offer over. He sighs heavily. "Lying by omission is still lying."

![]() |

Targost mulls the offer over.
"Well, it could lead to some interesting discoveries...and they are only goblins...."
He trails off, lost in his own thought and watching to see how the others react to the offer.

![]() |

" I dunno. Seems the little runt's are a kind of people too. I mean look at Halflings. They ARE people, but the Chelish sure don't treat them that way..."
Ebon looks on unsure of his own answer...
Man I don't think anybody deserves to be test subjects, but i don' wanna be beat up by bottle head again...

![]() |

Talwin grits his teeth.
"I'll do it."
His speech is forced, as if the thought of doing so is physically painful for him.

" Okay. I will help Talwin do this. Then I would see how you manage these 'improvements' of yours..."
Wincing in pain he continues..
", We could use a little healing, Your inventions walloped us good. I feel weak enough a kobold could knock me over..."

", We could use a little healing, Your inventions walloped us good. I feel weak enough a kobold could knock me over..."
"True... Some healing would improve your chances."
The alchemist mixes up some vials and he hands the resulting green liquid to both Ebon and Talwin.
elixirs of Cure Light Wounds 1d8+5
He holds another elixir in his hand: "Who will be the third addition?"

GM Auke |

"Ok, it's you!" and he hands the final elixir to Targost.
"Snarltongue! Come over here!"
A few moment later Snarltongue arrives.
"Escort these three gentlemen to the door. They're going to get some new recruits!"
As you are on the stairs out the dungeon Krenar comments:
"Oh, if you can't find any goblins, just get me some halflings or gnomes instead!"

![]() |

Halfling or gnomes? Then he considers them 'lesser' beings as well? No, this will not do. I cannot permit him to continue these mad experiments. Sarenrae, offer me a chance to end his madness and I will take it.

![]() |

Seems like there were woods/forest close by? Try to do like he said and find branches. Targost should have spells, and Ebon can pray for his. But Talwin has no divine focus.
"Ebon, perhaps you can channel some healing power? I think we're all too weak right now..."
-Posted with Wayfinder

![]() |

Before leaving the cell, Ebon will use his two channels per day, so as to include Muluk as well.
channel: 1d6 ⇒ 1
channel: 1d6 ⇒ 6
He will then step out and drink the potion.
1d8 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10
Moving up next to Snarltongue, he pats the bottle head on the shoulder.
"I must admit, you are a more worthy foe than I expected. Did you volunteer to have bottles stuck in your head? Did it hurt? Do they come off? Is he a good master?"
