Introduction:
Welcome to recruitment for my Rise of the Whatlords game. We will be playing Burnt Offerings, the first book in the Rise of the Runelords AP line; if we manage to complete it and people still want to play, I'll find or create something for us to play next. We will not be continuing with the Runelords AP should we finish the first book.

I've decided to start up this game after reading over Painlord's guide to PBPs and reflecting on my past and current PBPs a little differently. I'd like to give it all another try. I think I can run a fun and interesting game for everyone involved.

Expect a mildly modified version; enemies will be re-built, encounters will be modified or removed. Additionally, expect me to be very amenable to 'going off the rails'; if you wish to evolve the plot in a way the game does not exist, run it by me and I will be very unlikely to dismiss it out of hand. If you have already played Burnt Offerings, as long as you can avoid meta-gaming or giving spoilers to people who don't want them, it should be no issue.

I'll be accepting four players for this game. I like to keep group numbers small; too many and too often I feel like I cannot stand out from the crowd as a player.

I've been playing Pathfinder for over three years, and PBPs for much of that. I've almost finished a vanilla PBP of Burnt Offerings that ended up proceeding rather slowly due to dropouts and other reasons; I would like to try for a faster speed this time.

I will use combat maps hosted on Google Drive; I'd like players to move their own tokens.

Recruitment:
Right now, no one needs to create characters for this game. I want to try something different. Those interested, please fill out the below.

So, that should be it for now; post if you have any questions.

Alright this sounds fun.

Don't want to take up half a page:

Experience with PBPs: I have played in a few PbP games, mostly PFS. I've only had the opportunity to finish one module using the PbP format, and would love to add an AP to that list.

Experience with the RotR AP: I have yet to get the chance to play any of the Pathfinder APs, my experience with pathfinder thus far has been sitting and making interesting characters for hours on end.

Favourite alignment and why/do you hate the alignment system and why: My favorite alignment has always been Chaotic Neutral, because I love to play the character who's in it for his own reasons(See Below). I think the current alignment system is more or less unnecessary, I think the game would be a lot more enjoyable if we didn't have to worry about our alignments, and instead just worried about the actual choices we make.

Number of PBPs you have played in: 14 total, though only half made it through until the end, usually due to gm dropouts.

Number of PBPs you have played in that have finished/are still actively ongoing after a long period of time: 7

Tell me a little about the PBPs you have played in that finished/are still actively ongoing after a long period of time: Most of my completed PbPs have been PFS, though one was a short module. The module completed started at level 7, and though we never leveled we did gain a few mythic tiers.

Your most interesting character in a previous PBP/real life game: I have a Bloodrager/Hunter character built for a gestalt Wrath of the Righteous campaign that I have unfortunately never had the opportunity to play. The character is entirely based around using the demonic powers of the worldwound against the demon swarm, with even his animal companion gaining some "demonic" powers through the Primal Companion Hunter archetype. This character has been by far my favorite of those that I have built, because each part meshes so well together with the others to create an awesome demonic demonslayer, through both his crunch and backstory.

Your best roleplay interaction post in a previous PBP: This post, though not that long, was my favorite post made as easily my favorite character I've played thus far. I began the campaign as a magical item fence in the heavily populated city of Bard's Gate, but quickly turned into the leader of a rag-tag group of mercenaries in search of riches deep inside the catacombs of the followers of Thyr and Muir.

Can you commit to an absolute minimum of 1 post every 2 days: I have a very open schedule at the moment, and I don't see that changing anytime soon. My other campaigns have generally consisted of me rapidly reloading pages hoping for updates, so yes, I can commit.

Can you commit to this game for a long time, as the bare minimum is measured in months not weeks: I'm in this for the long-haul.

What would you like to do in this game/get out of this game: Well I definitely hope to "complete" another PbP game, but for the most part I just really want to play this character I have built, I love the new options they're putting fourth lately.

Are you a dick: Yes. I mean... No? I mean... I don't understand the question. Anyways to be serious, no I don't think anyone would consider me a dick by any means.

The 10 Chaotic Neutral Commandments:

Brought to you by these wonderful people.

1. You shall lie to promote your freedom.

2. You shall not kill the innocent.

3. You shall not murder.

4. You shall help the needy if such action promotes your freedom.

5. You shall honor no authority above yourself.

6. You shall break the law whenever convenient.

7. You shall not betray others unless your life is in jeopardy.

8. You shall not aid enemies of freedom or those who promote law.

9. You shall pursue pleasure.

10. You shall promote unlimited freedom for yourself.

If nothing else this application was a great exercise in self-reflection, so thank you!

Experience with PBPs: None, while I've been a tabletop RPGr for a long time, all of my experience is with live people around a table, at least thus far

Experience with the RotR AP: I've never played any adventure path, at least not yet...I've never technically played Pathfinder as I was just getting into it when my D&D 3.5 group unfortunately broke up

Favourite alignment and why/do you hate the alignment system and why: I don't have any one favorite alignment, I usually just pick the best fit for the character concept I have in mind, what I think would suit the personality I've envisioned. I can't say I hate the alignment system, having played in a variety of RPGs both with and without alignment I can't say one is really better than the other. I've always considered alignment to be a guideline, something to give your character a starting point as far as moral outlook is concerned, rather than something that must be rigidly adhered to.

Number of PBPs you have played in: None

Number of PBPs you have played in that have finished/are still actively ongoing after a long period of time: Again, none

Tell me a little about the PBPs you have played in that finished/are still actively ongoing after a long period of time: Once again, none, but I would really, really like to get involved in one

Your most interesting character in a previous PBP/real life game: I don't know about the most interesting, but I think the character I had the most fun with was a half-elven ranger in 3.5

Your best roleplay interaction post in a previous PBP: Sadly, I don't really have an example for this

Can you commit to an absolute minimum of 1 post every 2 days: Yes

Can you commit to this game for a long time, as the bare minimum is measured in months not weeks: Yes

What would you like to do in this game/get out of this game: I just want to play, I haven't been involved in anything RPG related in years now and I just want to get back into it, it's something I've always enjoyed

Are you a dick: I'm going to say no, but then again I don't think dicks often really know they're being dicks...I always try my best not to be though

Grand Lodge

Experience with PBPs: A lot. I currently play in in 5 Pbp and have played a lot of PFS game using that medium. I am also runing my own game for almost 2 years now

Experience with the RotR AP: Some. I have played part of the 1st adventure but game died

Favourite alignment and why/do you hate the alignment system and why:

I play anything but Evil.

Number of PBPs you have played in: Way to many to count

Number of PBPs you have played in that have finished/are still actively ongoing after a long period of time: 6 bordering on two years still going strong + My own game

Tell me a little about the PBPs you have played in that finished/are still actively ongoing after a long period of time: Playing a Zeigeits game and 4 Home game. I find that home game require more effort from the dm to keep things moving.

Your most interesting character in a previous PBP/real life game:
A Witch convince that she is a cleric of Aroden

Your best roleplay interaction post in a previous PBP: Too many to count (sorry)

Can you commit to an absolute minimum of 1 post every 2 days: i usually do 1 post a day (expect on the weekend as i do many things)

Can you commit to this game for a long time, as the bare minimum is measured in months not weeks: Indeed

What would you like to do in this game/get out of this game: Finishing the story

Are you a dick: Have one, don't think i am one

:)

About me:

Experience with PBPs: Vast, I have been in a number of them and play daily
Experience with the RotR AP: Haven't played
Favourite alignment and why/do you hate the alignment system and why: CG is probably my favorite but I enjoy LG as well. Why do I hate it. It is so disney black and white hardly any morality or hard decisions ever have to be made.
Number of PBPs you have played in: 37
Number of PBPs you have played in that have finished/are still actively ongoing after a long period of time: 7 all others die because GM or others players stop posting. I have never left a game.
Tell me a little about the PBPs you have played in that finished/are still actively ongoing after a long period of time: 2 are over 2 years my favorite is coming up on a year. It is a fallen/forgotten god game where your are the forgotten god trying to regain your power
Your most interesting character in a previous PBP/real life game: Wow hard question. How do you put one over all the others. I realy enjoy Hadran His is the fallen/forgotten god. Its a high powered game but the RP is very good as well.
Your best roleplay interaction post in a previous PBP: This is realy hard as well. To find one that says everything about you or how you play. Let me see. This one was for a wrath game. Azim post
Can you commit to an absolute minimum of 1 post every 2 days: Sure can
Can you commit to this game for a long time, as the bare minimum is measured in months not weeks: yes
What would you like to do in this game/get out of this game: Play. I love to RP, I play in the 7 active games on here to help pass the work day, I am in to RL games on Monday and Wednesday with friends. I just love to play whatever the game is.
Are you a dick: Yes. I certainly can be, but I get along well playing on here.

About Me:
First off I would like to say that I have no exp. with PBPs (unless you consider Civ threads), however I'm willing to learn since it is becoming harder and harder to find a local group willing to RP.

Experience with PBPs: None

Experience with the RotR AP: None

Favourite alignment and why/do you hate the alignment system and why:

I enjoy playing on the chaotic side, I find having the freedom to do whatever to be freeing if you will. I hate the alignment system since it restricts what can and can't be down if you have some who is a stickler for the rules. (ex. Necromancers can't be good since necromancy is inherently evil)

Number of PBPs you have played in: None

Number of PBPs you have played in that have finished/are still actively ongoing after a long period of time: None

Tell me a little about the PBPs you have played in that finished/are still actively ongoing after a long period of time: No experience.

Your most interesting character in a previous PBP/real life game: The most interesting character I had would have to be my "toad god" barbarian. Whilst running through an extensive campaign based in marshes and wetlands I attempted numerous times to handle the giant frogs we were fighting. More then my fair share of nat 20's later, I accumulated a massive frog/toad army of about 200 bodies. I went from raging and swinging my battle ax into setting up ambushes to incapacitate my opponents/ overrun them with bodies. Eventually the DM got sick of my shenanigans I told me I had to lose them. So I did what any player would do, I set up a community for the frogs/toads and set up a glorious shrine in which they could worship me.

Your best roleplay interaction post in a previous PBP: Acting out the gnome bard convincing my kobald rogue that he (the gnome) was in fact a very small human after the gnome rolled a nat 20 on bluff.

Can you commit to an absolute minimum of 1 post every 2 days: Easily

Can you commit to this game for a long time, as the bare minimum is measured in months not weeks: Absolutely

What would you like to do in this game/get out of this game: I would get my first PBP game under my belt and hopefully make a lasting campaign to play for the next few months.

Are you a dick: I'm usually a vary laid back, somewhat funny (if I can say that) guy. If provoked I can definitely be a dick, but that usually involves literally screwing me over in a campaign to the point you have drained all of the fun out of the game.

Also I'm fairly new to Paizo so forgive me if I have issues posting at first.

About Me:
Experience with PBPs: I'm in quite a number of PbP games right now, and am managing at least 1 post/day for them, if not more.

Experience with the RotR AP: I actually ran part of Book 1 for some of my friends over the internet, but I am very capable of keeping my player and character knowledge separate. Honestly, it's been over a year since I ran it, so I don't even remember most of what happens!

Favourite alignment and why/do you hate the alignment system and why: My favorite alignment is Neutral Good, because I like playing character that are all about helping people in need and doing the right thing. I also have a soft spot for properly-played Paladins (not the NO FUN ALLOWED kind) and properly-played Chaotic Neutral characters (not the HERP DERP LET'S PRETEND WE'RE NOT CE kind). However, I'm not super attached to the alignment system, so if it goes, I can easily figure out how to manage.

Number of PBPs you have played in: Including ones that I had to drop because of school (which is unlikely to happen again, as I've got much better time management now), over 30. Most died due to inactivity, however.

Number of PBPs you have played in that have finished/are still actively ongoing after a long period of time: I finished book 1 of Carrion Crown (here), but sadly most of my other games have died to inactivity. I am currently in three games under GM Rednal (here, here, and here) which I am very active in, and are probably the best examples of my posting frequency and style.

Tell me a little about the PBPs you have played in that finished/are still actively ongoing after a long period of time: Most of the games I am most active in are very RP-driven, but with a good dose of combat stuff. I like a nice balance of storytelling and facebeating! Rednal's gestalt games are great examples of this, because a small party helps keep the game moving really quickly, and makes for great in-character socializing. :)

Your most interesting character in a previous PBP/real life game: I'd say my favorite and most interesting character is Tarov, my gestalt Warder/Cavalier. He's a very no-nonsense dwarf who focuses on defending his friends and smiting his enemies, and he's got a great rapport going with the other two party members.

Your best roleplay interaction post in a previous PBP: Here is a roleplaying sequence that got my Aasimar Cleric accepted to another PbP. Gii was a disciple of Nethys, and was defending his position as a faithful of the All-Seeing Eye. I'm really proud of how it went, overall.

Can you commit to an absolute minimum of 1 post every 2 days: Not a problem whatsoever.

Can you commit to this game for a long time, as the bare minimum is measured in months not weeks: As above, this is not a problem.

What would you like to do in this game/get out of this game: I'm honestly super pumped with the introduction of Pathfinder Unchained to get to try and make a legitimate single-classed Oradin. Paladin with VMC Oracle of Life to make a character who is good at fighting, but also is capable of keeping the party healed and fighting. In addition, I've really wanted to play RotRL myself (even if it's just the first book), but haven't really gotten the chance to.

Are you a dick: Sometimes. Everyone has their bad days. I generally try to keep my bad days far away from my internet stuff, though, so I'm generally a nice guy who is easy to get along with.

Also, if anybody knows exactly how the PF Unchained rules for Variant Multiclassing works, I'd love to hear about it. I've just heard some really simple descriptions, but it sounds like a really cool option.

Dotting for interest.

About Me:
Experience with PBPs:
Significant. I used to play on playbyweb.com around the turn of the century :P

Experience with the RotR AP:
Actually this is the first Pathfinder campaign I ever played. We used Skype and FG2, currently in a alkenstar version now

Favourite alignment and why/do you hate the alignment system and why:
LN maybe, although I fine with mixing it up. I do not like how the alignment system is so closely tied with the combat system. for instance, you should be able to summon anything without it being considered inherently evil. Spells are tools, it is the intent behind them that determines moral bent.

Number of PBPs you have played in:
over the years several. Took a break for few years until recently.

Number of PBPs you have played in that have finished/are still actively ongoing after a long period of time: Only started back recently May/June of last year. I'm still in two games from then.

Tell me a little about the PBPs you have played in that finished/are still actively ongoing after a long period of time:
Longest PBP was about 4 years. You can see the story time of the game here

Your most interesting character in a previous PBP/real life game:
Well I try to make them all interesting. :P Although An orc named Torg who became a Green Star Adept at the end of the campaign was pretty fun. Living forever as a construct.

Your best roleplay interaction post in a previous PBP:
This is fun

Can you commit to an absolute minimum of 1 post every 2 days:
Sure

Can you commit to this game for a long time, as the bare minimum is measured in months not weeks:
Sure

What would you like to do in this game/get out of this game:
A reason to live, or at least a way to kill time

Are you a dick:
I can be, if I feel disrespected. Life's too short to put up with other peoples crapola

@Seranov- you might want to note that as per my character creation rules I'm not allowing Unchained. I don't have the rulebook and would rather not learn.

Oh. I'll drop out, then. GL.

About Me:

Experience with PBPs: Only two games and just recently, but I’ve played tabletop games consistently for over three years
Experience with the RotR AP: I’ve helped a new GM in a group I play with run it, and I’ve been a player twice
Favourite alignment and why/do you hate the alignment system and why: I don’t really have a favorite alignment, but I play more Chaotic Good than anything else, I don’t really hate the alignment system, but it’s been pretty irrelevant in most of the games I’ve been in since all of my tabletop GMs are pretty liberal with it so I guess I just don’t have much of an opinion on it
Number of PBPs you have played in: 2
Number of PBPs you have played in that have finished/are still actively ongoing after a long period of time: None, both of mine are new and relatively short so far
Tell me a little about the PBPs you have played in that finished/are still actively ongoing after a long period of time: Sorry, nothing to say really
Your most interesting character in a previous PBP/real life game: SIR ALBRECHT SILVERHAND PALADIN OF IOMEDAE. In all seriousness, I loved playing a campy, over the top paladin that was an honestly fun guy and good hearted, always willing to jump to the defense of the innocent and smiting evil in the name of his goddess
Your best roleplay interaction post in a previous PBP: Sorry again, but I got nothing
Can you commit to an absolute minimum of 1 post every 2 days: Yup
Can you commit to this game for a long time, as the bare minimum is measured in months not weeks: Absolutely
What would you like to do in this game/get out of this game: I’ve been a tabletop gamer for years, but I’ve never really gotten a chance to get into PBP games and I’m hoping to get some good experience with a skilled DM and a fun group
Are you a dick: Only for comic relief

Hey, Arkwright! Been a while, but it'd be great to be in another game with you, so I'd love to throw my hat in.

Recruitment Questions:

Experience with PbPs: I've been playing PbPs here pretty solidly since the summer of 2012 (Ascension of the Eight was actually my first PbP), and other than a forced hiatus here and there I've been a constant player.

Experience with the RotR AP: It's been a while, but I have both played in the path and read the first couple books. I don't recall most specific details, just general plot, and I'm more than happy to avoid metagaming.

Favourite alignment and why/do I hate the alignment system and why: I think my personal favorite alignment probably comes down to Chaotic Good, although I enjoy playing anything from CN to Lawful Evil and looking at the various ways each alignment can be played. My characters will often end up being generally good people who will do the right thing, if sometimes for the wrong reasons (in the case of Neutral types). Alternatively it can be enjoyable to play up the Lawful side of Lawful Evil with an uncompromising proponent of order and justice, or to take Lawful Good to the max and play a paladin to the hilt. In all honesty I also dislike the alignment system being held too strictly in any case; I really enjoy 5th Edition's take on the matter, with alignments still being a way to judge characters while having no mechanical bearing on the game.

Number of PbPs I have played in: Well, according to my Campaigns page, I've been in 62 games here. A lot of those never made it very far. A lot, a lot.

Number of PbPs I have played in that have finished/are still actively ongoing after a long period of time: I think the longest-running game I'm in at the moment is a Star Wars PbP that I've been in since September of 2012 (it's been running since late 2011). A couple of other games have run for some time, with a Savage Worlds game coming up on its anniversary. A few shorter games here and there have ended in completion, notably a short zombie apocalypse scenario that was run by Jelani. Sadly, I've been in a lot of games that ran for a very short period before falling apart (and, admittedly, the few PbPs I've attempted to run here have met the same fate.

Tell you a little about the PbPs that have finished/are still active: Well, beyond what I said above?
Star Wars: The basic plot is that we are serving Emperor Palpatine's daughter as she attempts to rebuild her father's empire. It's a PbP rendition of a game the GM has run with an in-life group, from what I understand, and it's full of very interesting characters and a lot of neat plot. We started with the old d20 system (the one before Saga Edition) and transitioned to Edge of the Empire from Fantasy Flight shortly after that was released. So far it's still a game that's going on strong and I don't see it stopping any time soon. My character specifically is an original clone trooper, codenamed Janitor, who's served in a number of black ops missions and returned to the Empire when he heard they were looking for soldiers.
Savage Worlds: Set up as a very comedic take on supernatural hunting genre tropes, PATRIOT sees us working for the titular group, originally as interns, handling smaller-scale events while the higher-ups do things like prevent apocalypses and plan baby showers. My character specifically is a Romanian ex-boxer who's out to fight the "bad guys" and protect the common folks--a very nice if large and simple man.
Zombies?: A simple medieval town has to deal with the beginnings of a zombie apocalypse. Unfortunately, our group (myself an elven warrior who'd retired to this small community) ended up being too good at killing zombies for our own good, and we ended the zombie outbreak practically before it started through some quick thinking and good rolls. Not much more to be said.

Your most interesting character in a previous game: The first one that comes to mind is Captain Jake Finch, who I'm playing in a Skulls and Shackles game with some friends in person. While his pirate name and persona are rather clearly... inspired, shall we say, by a certain pirate from some rather popular movies, he was born Geraud-Galtier Chastain LeBeau, from a Taldan noble family unfortunate enough to be residing in Galt. Since sticking around in that area didn't bode well for his prospects, he decided to head out into the world and make his way with his sword, wit, and innate magic (multiclassed swashbuckler/magus). Recently he got in a fight with a ghoulified Mister Scourge (the GM made a custom encounter after we marooned him on Bonewrack Isle to die from ghoul fever) and was thought dead, but it turned out he narrowly survived. [ooc]A clerical error on my part left him with one fewer hit point than he should have had, and Scourge dealt exactly enough damage to "kill" him. We discovered the mistake after the session ended and it was a happy day--not only did we not need to find a new Captain, but Jake Finch will now be able to continue buckling swashes and maintaining an oddly formal business ledger detailing the exploits of the crew of the Scourge's Damnation (yeah, we really didn't like Mister Scourge).
Of course, for sheer fun with a character concept and writing a backstory, one of my favorites recently was this guy for a Way of the Wicked game.

Your best roleplay interaction post in a previous PbP: Oh, geez. I really don't know on this one. I think Naberius had some fun interactions with folks in Ascension, but I've also done plenty since then... the Romanian from the Savage Worlds game had a few choice moments when fighting some undead... Janitor also had what I thought was a pretty cool moment when he returned to the game after I had an absence. Honestly I'm not sure what I'd consider my best moments... I enjoy a lot of moments in games.

Can I commit to an absolute minimum of 1 post every 2 days: Yes, in a word. It's been a while since I had a long absence, and I do not foresee another one at any point in the future. I typically get on at least once a day and post as long as I have anything to say and respond to.

Can I commit to this game for a long time: Yes, for the same reasons as above. I really enjoy gaming and and barring circumstances I'll stick with this as long as it goes.

What would I like to do in/get out of this game: Honestly just have a good time and explore a world with an interesting character and others in the party. Really I just hope to have a good game where I can act and react to the world.

Am I a dick: I certainly hope not. Sometimes my characters are a little dickish, but only ever for effect, and in small doses.

I have to say, I absolutely love this method of recruitment. I've never seen it before, and it really made me think about how I act and how I play.

Recruitment Questions/Self-Reflection:

Experience with PBPs: I've been involved in PBP for probably about a year now, and I've played numerous games. I consider myself to be quite experienced, but with every game I play I realize that there are still things to learn.
Experience with the RotR AP: None at all, it's an AP that I've heard about, and applied to play in, but regrettably never been successful.
Favourite alignment and why/do you hate the alignment system and why: My favorite alignment has to be Lawful Neutral, because I love the idea of having a personal that you stick to, for better or for worse. I like the idea of the alignment system, because it forces players to think about their character's motivations and actions, and because you can tell something about a character's motivation just by looking at their alignment. When I have a problem with the system is when people act as though their alignment is a law they have to follow, particularly with classes with alignment restrictions. For them, alignment becomes less of a guideline for how they generally act and more of a set of rules on how they have to play their character. To me, that's the point where the alignment system hurts gameplay more than it helps it.
Number of PBPs you have played in: 16
Number of PBPs you have played in that have finished/are still actively ongoing after a long period of time: 5/6 depending on your definition of a long time.
Tell me a little about the PBPs you have played in that finished/are still actively ongoing after a long period of time: In addition to several PFS games that have all finished smoothly, I'm currently running a Dawn of Worlds game, which is nearing the end of its second Age. I'm also a participant in a Kingmaker game which involves the downtime and kingdom building rules, and I act as ruler/mayor with my battle oracle.
Your most interesting character in a previous PBP/real life game: I created an Angelkin(Aasimar) Crossblooded(Destined/Arcane) Bloodrager/Paladin for a gestalt game a while back. The character seemed just so meant for great things, between his divine power and his bloodline, that I've actually started writing a fiction novel in the Golarion setting that involves him and a few other gestalt characters working as a mercenary troop. I've had a lot of cool characters, but that one has to take the cake.
Your best roleplay interaction post in a previous PBP: There was one time in a Jade Regent game, a very long time ago, where I played a paladin who had a weird obsession with animals/tried to make everything into a pet. I had a love-hate relationship with the wizard in our party, and continually insisted that his hawk familiar, which I called 'Happy' instead of its real name, was in fact just a normal bird that followed him because he fed it. When he insisted that he could talk to it, I said that so could I, and just made bird noises. Eventually, we were in a boss fight where I was fighting a boss with flight. He put flight on me and I defeated the boss, then realized that she had been flying directly over the wizard on the map. For RP purposes, we acted as though the half-fiend falling on his head had managed to knock him out. My paladin wrote him a note, pretending that it had been written by the wizard himself. In it, among other things it detailed how he had decided to allow Happy to become a truly communal bird, since lets face it he liked the paladin better anyways, it discussed how his last batch of cookies needed more sugar this was completely out of the blue, and I thought it was hilarious, and explained how the paladin had heroically saved him from a demon just before he was knocked out this one was true, the boss summoned a demon right next to him and I pretty much annihilated it, and I ended by stating that the reason he didn't remember writing it was because he got a concussion due to my dropping a half-fiend on his head. His reaction, and that of the entire group, was a glorious mixture of confusion and hilarity, with some outrage on the part of the wizard.
Can you commit to an absolute minimum of 1 post every 2 days: Yes. I've managed that in every one of my games I participate in, and I make it a point to check multiple times a day to see if something has happened that would require me to post. There have been times where nothing is going on that I'm involved in, when I haven't posted for 2 days, but whenever I'm involved in that part of the game, I always post in a timely fashion.
Can you commit to this game for a long time, as the bare minimum is measured in months not weeks: Yes, 100%.
What would you like to do in this game/get out of this game: I'm quite amenable to anything in this game, I just love getting to play and explore the world that is Golarion. In every game I'm accepted in, I try to play a different kind of character than I've played before, and this game is no different. By doing this, I learn as completely as possible how Pathfinder works. In addition, I'd like to see a game where the group that started is the same group that ends, and this certainly seems like a recruitment method that might make that possible.
Are you a dick: To be entirely honest, probably not. There are times when I can act like it, or rather my characters occasionally do, but I do my best to avoid disrupting the game and to play well with others. My humor can sometimes head in that direction, but I do my best to find the line between funny and rude, and stay on the right side of it.

Liberty's Edge

Experience with PBPs:
I signed up for the pathfinder boards years ago. when I realized I could RP on forums, I was quite hooked. It was the center of my daily entertainment routine for a good many months, as I signed up for every recruitment that caught my eye, and was saddened every time a game fell flat for any reason.

Experience with the RotR AP:
None yet; I've attempted to apply for a campaign or two of it, but never picked.

Favourite alignment and why/do you hate the alignment system and why:
Neutral. It's the most open to interpretation. I dislike alignments when people start trying to cleave to them like ironclad rules for what their character can/cannot or would/would not do, and when people use them as an excuse to disrupt the game.

Number of PBPs you have played in:
15, to varying lengths. I've unsuccessfully applied to many, many more.

Number of PBPs you have played in that have finished/are still actively ongoing after a long period of time:
1, from the look of it. I had to drop out long ago due to RL issues, but the game is amazingly still going over a year later, with at least one of the original characters still involved.

Tell me a little about the PBPs you have played in that finished/are still actively ongoing after a long period of time:
the Ninja DM's shattered star--we were in the process of pursuing the second shard when RL piled up on me and I elected to let go of the PBP boards for sanity's sake.

Your most interesting character in a previous PBP/real life game:
Maven Brewbane. A Dwarven forgemaster cleric who was shy, uncomfortable in crowds, and so accustomed to underground life that the sight of the sky tended to leave her nauseous at best. She wielded a two handed earthbreaker hammer named "drowbreaker." Three guesses how it got that name.

Your best roleplay interaction post in a previous PBP:
The blaze of the anvil, despite the rain and crashing waves, seems to grow more intense by the minute. As she turns back to observe the continuing battle, Maven grips the side of the lifeboat with impotent frustration. Why do I wish I was still there? And why do those damned fool men still flail about yards from that wretched beast's maw?!

Scanning her lifeboat reveals a hauntingly empty craft. Large enough for almost a dozen Dwarves, her current vessel floats high on the waters with a mere four, including herself. It's hard enough not to stare at the empty spaces, much less avoid thinking of how many Dwarves could have filled them. Unable to gaze at the burning ship, the empty boat, or the furious skies, the only solace left to her beleaguered mind lay in the waves as she slumps to the side of her seat. As her downcast gaze fights despair, however, something drifts across her vision. a shaft of lumber, no more than a foot and a half long, bobs in the dancing waves, the wide, cylindrical wooden head appearing above a crest every few seconds or so.

A...mallet?

Puzzled by the object in surroundings it should not be, Maven finds herself staring dumbfounded at the tool for several seconds before it drifts closer to the boat. Snatching it from the water and gripping it in hand seems to trigger recognition in her eyes. My TOOLS! I left them in my cabin! NO!!

Rapidly scanning the area around them reveals barrels and chests floating randomly about the boat, some upturned, some open, some splintered, but just a few intact, bobbing about, seemingly without a care in the world. She then turns to the boat, searching through the random bits of equipment scattered around the floor of the craft. Digging through arrows, boxes of snuff, random clothing, planks and nails, she grows irritated as her search nears the bottom of the boat. No...not that...no, that won't do...no, NO...grrrr...ah HAH!

Standing tall from her little excavation, Maven triumphantly grasps a coil of rope, snapped and frayed, but still close to thirty-five feet in length. She then starts darting from one end of the boat to the other, eyes searching every container in the open waters with hawklike scrutiny. The other Dwarves, confused and taken aback by her sudden activity, make every effort to duck out of the way each time she moves in an effort to keep the craft balanced.

Come on, where is it? come onnnn, Torag don't let me down now...

Suddenly, she gasps as she spots it. How anyone could pick out an insignia no more than a foot wide from that distance, half submerged amidst the waves, rain and lightning, her current companions are completely unsure, but there she spies it: a cracked tankard, embossed in bronze, on the front of a small wooden chest. the name seems to echo in her head as it plays across her lips.

"Brewbane."

Grasping the coil of rope in her right hand, Maven shuts her eyes a moment, running her other hand over the circular coil as she whispers under her breath. When she finishes, the rope seems to shudder a moment in her hands. Ensuring her grip is sound, she flings one end of the rope out over the water, grinning with glee as it breaks water barely a foot from the chest.

Intently pointing a finger at the wooden box so far away, she projects her voice in a command unfitting her usually meek personality. "LOOP AND KNOT."

The rope responds with another shudder as the far end swiftly snakes its way around the chest and loops itself into a steadfast knot, just to the side of the Brewbane insignia. She then pulls the rope hand over hand with the urgency of a protective mother as the box expands to fill her field of vision. The moment the chest comes up to the side of the craft, she drops the rope and lunges with both arms for the soaked wood and the brass handles, tearing it free from the waves and clutching it like a rescued child. As her three Dwarf crew grabs the rope and does their best to match her success with closer, larger containers, she takes a minute to inspect the contents, the most genuine relief of the trip warming her features as she checks each implement for waterlogging, rust, and damage. By Father's beard, as long as I have me tools, not much remains I can't rebuild.

Can you commit to an absolute minimum of 1 post every 2 days:
Sure, I've done one a day before, participating in up to eight campaigns at one time. Once I got into it, I was quite regular, even slightly fixated, heh.

Can you commit to this game for a long time, as the bare minimum is measured in months not weeks:
On this, I'll be entirely honest: I WANT to. I had to give up on the boards once before, and it brought an end to more than one game simply because of my role in the story. I don't want to let that happen again. I want to be there to see the story play out and fulfill my role to the end.

What would you like to do in this game/get out of this game:
A diverse set of situations, good developments in my character's story and personality; I'd like to experience an intriguing adventure that leads me to places I don't know yet, and gives me ways to fill in more of a character's life with events I can't write alone.

Are you a dick:
I'm surprised this is a question. I make a conscious effort not to be, even when I'm in my worst moods.

I do wish to ask: are you committed to using Skype? If it's a text chat we need, there are other alternatives; I only ask because I often find Skype distasteful and resource intensive. I can get it if the game is committed to it--don't drag it down on my account--but I'll be just as happy not to.

@Daymen- probably committed; if everyone is cool with changing and you can provide an easy alternative, happy to switch.

@Loup- ha, great to see you again. Sounds like you've been doing very well since.

Now this sounds interesting and well-planned.

Experience with PBPs:
Extensive since May 2012. Mostly as GM, but a few games as a player.

Experience with the RotR AP:
Minimal, it died at the first battle.

Favourite alignment and why/do you hate the alignment system and why:
NG or LE are my go-to alignments. I actually don't have a huge issue with the alignment system. As I mostly GM, there are shades of gray within each alignment that let characters to interact differently with each other and NPCs. I, generally, try to avoid being too rigid with alignments; my long running Rappan Athuk Campaign is classic example, where there is a pally and a LG cleric each interacting and surviving in a city of evil.

Number of PBPs you have played in:
10 as a player. The original game that I joined in 2012 (Palace of the Vampire Queen) is still going on. Most games have folded when the DM disappeared. I rarely apply to games because DMs (and players) tend to go missing and fail to communicate. 3 of the 10 games that I've been in were/are DM Carbides and he changes the gamethread at the conclusion of each scene. So it's actually one long running game but different game threads.

I did leave one game (LoF)because of the slow pace.

I'm an active GM (but I'm not a rules lawyer). I DM 3 of the top 22 most posted in games. Currently, I have active: Razor Coast (began July 2014) and Rappan Athuk (March 2013). I completed the COT AP (two of the original players stayed with the game and I had long lasting replacement players). I've also run and completed the following modules: We Be Goblins, Treasure of Chimera Cove, and Up From Darkness. I did DM one module: Shadows in Freeport that did not finish due to time constraints.

Number of PBPs you have played in that have finished/are still actively ongoing after a long period of time:
See answer to preceding question.

Tell me a little about the PBPs you have played in that finished/are still actively ongoing after a long period of time:
I play two characters in Palace of the Vampire Queen (PoVQ). Rownig Fleetfoot a dwarf rogue. He's one of my favorite characters that I've ever played and he is loosely based off of a prior table top character. I also play Windel, dwarf cleric, who was late joining the game. The players are all either dwarf or goblins in the PoVQ.

What makes this game interesting is it was low build point 17 and low magic, so the players really have to think and cooperate in order to get through the various encounters. It's definitely not a Magic-Shop-R-Us game.

Your most interesting character in a previous PBP/real life game:
I've had a lot of interesting characters including Rownig and Windel mention in my earlier post.

I really enjoyed this character:
Jasmine Rose

Jasmine was a submission for a Shackles game that fell apart. I occasionally use her as an NPC in my other games. (She is currently a cartographer NPC in my Razor Coast game). I always envisioned her as a LE sea captain. This sort of folds back into your earlier alignment question: In my mind she is lawful on the ship where hierarchy and order must be kept, or you risk death or worse. While on land she is less rigid on the law (order) aspect of the alignment.

Your best roleplay interaction post in a previous PBP:
That is a tough one. The games where I DM tend to be fast paced and packed with detailed roleplay that span multiple posts. I have tons of NPCs. One that I use is Thalios Dondrel, son of Mordekai, in my Razor Coast Game that the players really like. He speaks in the third person and has an eye of the female characters.

Thalios Dondrel, son of Mordekai posts

Can you commit to an absolute minimum of 1 post every 2 days:
Absolutely. I have over 27,000 posts since May 2012, so posting hasn't been an issue with me. Most importantly I communicate in all the games that I'm in....that is the Number 1 rule for successful PbP games.

Can you commit to this game for a long time, as the bare minimum is measured in months not weeks:
Absolutely. I've been in the PoVQ since May 2012. I've been in various DM Carbide games for years. I even stuck with the one game that I actually dropped for two years.

What would you like to do in this game/get out of this game:
It would nice to complete a story.

Are you a dick:
No. I don't nitpick and rules lawyer. When the GM makes a ruling, lets move on and keep the pace going. One decision rarely alters the outcome of the game.

I appreciate your well-written exposition!

About Me:

Experience with PBPs: Since 2010, when I was in my early 20's, I have participated in Paizo's medium of PBP. I've developed as a writer since then, and I've become a better roleplayer too. In addition to RL games, it's a good way to express creativity, I find.

Experience with the RotR AP: Zero. Generally, I don't care to play through the same setting twice (though sometimes I will play once then run it); while I don't metagame, I feel there is a lot of second-guessing of character knowledge and whatnot if you've already been through it. Plus, as a player, I like to be surprised.

Favourite alignment and why/do you hate the alignment system and why: CG or LN, depending on who's at the table. CG is closer to who I am emotionally as a person, and I often find the alignment, when played correctly, is zesty enough to shake up the generally more staid players that tend to be in roleplaying games. LN is great with the other type of people as it often forced them to take a more introspective glance at their personal moral/ethical beliefs; a LN politician is probably my dream character to play with the right group. I think the alignment system "works" well enough, though a finer gradient of choices would be an improvement. It is favorable to the idea-based alignment systems (such as the 7 of Paladium) in my eyes as the mechanical attachment forces the roll-heavy players to care about their character's personality.

Number of PBPs you have played in: Over a dozen. Many of the Aliases in my profile are indicative of these.

Number of PBPs you have played in that have finished/are still actively ongoing after a long period of time: Sadly, 4. PBP attrition is a very real devil. Clicking on links to these aliases, you can see the long-term Paizo PBPs. Harakhty was slain and could not be revived. Dalton was slain but will be revived shortly - the players have yet to return to a town.

Tell me a little about the PBPs you have played in that finished/are still actively ongoing after a long period of time: In the games mentioned above, the worlds were immersive, the players were consistent, and the roleplay was deep. There weren't one-line posts as the norm, an expected posting frequency of once a week, or a cookie-cutter world. In Dalton's game, I could write a page about the hedonistic nature of Bjorkus, the stubborness of Toramin, the honor which Rilka possesses, or the dilemmas of my own Dalton. In addition, I could explain why the players love to hate the NPC Heff, feel at ease with the NPC Krokar, but have divided opinions about (former) constable Ulric. The GM fleshed-out his world enough to make it beyond paper-thin. The players followed suit on a reliable basis. These characteristics make the game successful, enjoyable, and memorable.

Your most interesting character in a previous PBP/real life game: About 3 years ago, I had an alchemist who had horrible stat rolls. I believe a 13 was the top value. His wisdom and charisma were 8 and 7 not due to stat dumping (which I don't really care for), but because, in addition to his strength being a 9, I wanted the character to last longer than a session or two. Dr. Twyllion Tello spanned a 2-year long RL campaign. In the process of RPing his low wisdom and charisma, which was a challenge for me, a few natural 20's on an otherwise completely mundane skill check to observe what type of tree a particular stray leaf was from resulted in the "birth" of a "god"-tree.

In reality, Twyllion's low perception check created a false impression of what sort of tree it was, but the quite successful knowledge nature checks verified the perfect health of the tree. The certainty of his knowledge combined with his gullibility (from low wisdom/charisma) led him to believe such a flawless specimen which should not exist in the region must've had some divine intervention. As the description of the leaf's shape originally was maple and a nearby bottle of (real) maple syrup was made in a place called Sandy Ridge, that became Twyllion's assumed location of the tree - a sandy ridge (not a proper noun).

Twyllion insist the party seek-out this plant-deity, and the rest of the party actually managed to fail the diplomacy checks against Twyllion's diplomacy modified of -2. Thus, the group went off to find a sandy ridge with a maple. While they found one with but a scant amount of dirt, the prolific nature of the tree's height and number of large branches with healthy leaves was a good enough fit to have it declared the "God-tree". The campaign, which had originally been intended by the GM to revolve around a quest to investigate to what malicious end certain legendary artifacts were being used, evolved into a mission to nurture, protect, and evangelize for the "God-tree" of "Sandy Ridge", the group assuming the titles of priest, prophet, apostle, and disciple (which as quite doable as we had no cleric, paladin, or inquisitor).
It turned-out the GM actually had created a (proper noun) Sandy Ridge in the game, so there were numerous arguments over the "correct" geography. Our nemesis in the campaign was involved in a scheme to release woodpeckers infused with the blood of demons in the forest. The tree was eventually killed in an accident by my character in defending it from those woodpeckers; he attempted to use a catapult with various non-bomb alchemical items (such as tanglefoot bags and glue) to take them out, but damaged the tree enough to cause it to wither and die. Shortly thereafter, he went mad.

It was a great time.

Your best roleplay interaction post in a previous PBP: I'll fish that up when I have some more time later. The above typing took a bit of time!

Can you commit to an absolute minimum of 1 post every 2 days: Unless I am hit by a meteor or some other such occurrence, yes.

Can you commit to this game for a long time, as the bare minimum is measured in months not weeks: Unless I am hit by a meteor or some other such occurrence, yes.

What would you like to do in this game/get out of this game: As I specified above, an enjoyable and memorable experience.

Are you a dick: Only to synthesist summoners.

About Me:

Experience with PBPs: I started up with PBPs at the beginning of this year, mostly GMing multiple active games.

Experience with the RotR AP: Very little, I know how the first fight plays out and that's about it.

Favourite alignment and why/do you hate the alignment system and why: Lawful Evil. I feel like Lawful Evil gives a lot of room to take characters (for example you can have a character who would be normally a very good character, but the lengths that he will go to fight evil, in and of itself make him evil.) I think my biggest gripe with the alignment system is how much effort has been taken to make the world of Golarion as little gray as possible. Everything is either very good, or very evil with little wiggle room.

Number of PBPs you have played in: I've played in two, and GM three more.

Number of PBPs you have played in that have finished/are still actively ongoing after a long period of time: None as of yet, as I've only been doing this for about four and a half months.

Tell me a little about the PBPs you have played in that finished/are still actively ongoing after a long period of time: I will say I'm maintaining two pretty active groups so far in the games I GM. My players in Second Darkness should be finishing up Book 1 either at the end of this month of the beginning of the next.

Your most interesting character in a previous PBP/real life game: ***Wrath of the Righteous Spoilers***In a live Wrath of the Righteous game I played I had a Chaotic Evil Tiefling Oracle, who was the daughter of Nocticula. She came to the party with the intentions of corrupting their paladin to gain clout with the succubus' of the Midnight Isles. Using Angelskin armor she was able to integrate herself into the party long enough that by the time the paladin found out she was evil, he had to admit that she was capable of being redeemed and didn't kill her. She continued to try to corrupt the paladin while assisting them on their quest as killing demons didn't much bother her. Along the way however she ended up falling in love with the paladin. The paladin began to realize that the oracle was merely the product of her environment and convinced himself that by keeping her near him, she would eventually see the ways of good. In someways this worked, she fell out of being chaotic over time and became something more along the lines of a psychopathic obsessive girlfriend to the paladin. At least its some progress, right?

Your best roleplay interaction post in a previous PBP: I haven't had much time to get a great roleplay post down yet in the games that I actually play so far. As I came into one in the middle of a book and we almost immediately left to go dungeon delving. Although the character in that game did manage to scare off an angry mob by lighting herself on fire. The other unfortunately ended prematurely and I didn't have much time to develop the character.

Can you commit to an absolute minimum of 1 post every 2 days: Without a doubt.

Can you commit to this game for a long time, as the bare minimum is measured in months not weeks: Again, this is no problem for me.

What would you like to do in this game/get out of this game: It would be nice to be able to be a player in another game since my ability to play live has decreased dramatically I find that being a player in just one or two games isn't really enough for me. I also have a concept for a character that I'd really like to flesh out more and I think could be good fun.

Are you a dick: I suppose this is kind of a loaded question because under what circumstance? I would tend to say no.

I'm going to close recruitment for now. Thank you everyone for so many high-quality responses. I'll PM those who got in soon.

It is my pleasure to announce that Tuyena, Loup Blanc, Xappa, Dragonflyer1243 and Ellion Hesoni will be joining my run-through of Rise of the Whatlords.

Thank you so much everyone for your posts. In the event of a drop-out, I will absolutely keep all of you in mind.

Almost started, but we had a dropout. If anyone is still interested in playing, or anyone new is interested, please post/complete the recruitment survey.

Liberty's Edge

Maybe I can join in.
Experience with PBPs: A couple years on this site, a decade (or more) over Mail and other sites.
Experience with the RotR AP: Mastered live, and over Maptools. I think I have never played it.
Favorite alignment and why/do you hate the alignment system and why: Chaotic Good. Because is non-sense. Heroes should be good, that I accept.
Number of PBPs you have played in: A dozen?
Number of PBPs you have played in that have finished/are still actively ongoing after a long period of time: Ongoing 1, finished 3 or 4.
Tell me a little about the PBPs you have played in that finished/are still actively ongoing after a long period of time: I mastered a real nice heavily modified Kingmaker game for a good long time. I am currently in the last book of Crimson Throne, with a very good group of players. I finished (hardly, as we lost some players) Tomb of the Iron Medusa.
Your most interesting character in a previous PBP/real life game: I would say Ruperta of Hetzau, a young Varisian Cleric of Desna. Or Ganorok, a rogue Ratfolk.
Your best roleplay interaction post in a previous PBP: Ruperta doing what she does best
Can you commit to an absolute minimum of 1 post every 2 days: Easily
Can you commit to this game for a long time, as the bare minimum is measured in months not weeks: Easily
What would you like to do in this game/get out of this game: Have fun!
Are you a dick: Not that I am aware of.

You're in, Corsario. I'll PM you.

Liberty's Edge

Thanks

Submitting Alynthar. Will upgrade him to level 3 if I make it in, if that's okay of.

Experience with PBPs:
Fairly inexperienced. I'm currently in two games, so I've gotten the basics of the concept, but neither game has gotten far, and they're both pretty slow paced.
Experience with the RotR AP: I've played the first book, but I'm very good at not metagaming. I would be perfectly willing to not submit any ideas to the other players until we've gotten through RotR.
Favourite alignment and why/do you hate the alignment system and why: Chaotic Good. I dislike it because it doesn't capture the realities that good people do bad things. For example (and the example that comes up most often when I play), the rules say that casting an [evil] spell is an evil action. I like to animate dead. By the rules, that means my character is evil. But he isn't. He saves lives and shit. He only steals from those who can afford it. He strongly believes in punishing others for their crimes.
Number of PBPs you have played in: 2
Number of PBPs you have played in that have finished/are still actively ongoing after a long period of time: 0, but I'd really like to get into one.
Tell me a little about the PBPs you have played in that finished/are still actively ongoing after a long period of time:
Your most interesting character in a previous PBP/real life game: That would be Alynthar.
Your best roleplay interaction post in a previous PBP: I haven't had many opportunities for it, but I liked Alynthar's line "So, you're saying that the fate of your world depends on a handful of poor bastards who couldn't even save their own asses? You have my sympathy." A little context- 5 people were, at the moment of their (invariably violent) deaths, pulled into another universe to help restore the world.
Can you commit to an absolute minimum of 1 post every 2 days:
Can you commit to this game for a long time, as the bare minimum is measured in months not weeks: Hell yes. That's exactly what I'm looking for.
What would you like to do in this game/get out of this game: A game where I can really play Alynthar well. One with reliable players and a reliable DM, who all make at least one post a day.
Are you a dick: Ummmm... so I'm told. I tend to be a tad arrogant and argumentative, but I'm trying to work on that.

Experience with PBPs: Very experienced. Like 6 active campaigns right now, Dming in three of them.

Number of PBPs you have played in: more than 10.

Experience with the RotR AP: None at all.

Favourite alignment and why/do you hate the alignment system and why: I actually like variety, and trying to do something different than last character. still, I think the most commons are NG, LN, CN and NE

Number of PBPs you have played in that have finished/are still actively ongoing after a long period of time: I have active 4 campaign that have lasted more than a year. I have finished small adventures but never an AP (A year and half DMing red hand of doom but I could not complete it)

Tell me a little about the PBPs you have played in that finished/are still actively ongoing after a long period of time: I think you have just DM'ed me in Temple of Empyreal Enlightenment. The ongoing campaigns are

Myrial city of rogues: I'm playing a NE enchantress trying to make her criminal empire.

The wizard amulet: I'm playing a NG healer. He is basically a nerd that became an adventurer by chance.

Blackest Scale: High level homebrew I'm DMing.

Your most interesting character in a previous PBP/real life game:: Abdril the CN barbarian form the linnorn kingdom that killed by accident his best friend. Now, His friend's spirit became her voice of conscience. She was supposed to behave like a reckless person, but by chance (in game) she became the leader of a small group and thereafter she had too much responsibilities and most times she had to refrain to let her instinct dominate her and instead think about the safety of the group.

Your best roleplay interaction post in a previous PBP: Hard to say, but I made very cool (IMHO, of course) "intimidate" post for Abdril. I think I can link them, but they are in spanish.

I do prefer a more conversational approach, (at least with the fellow PCs) instead of long soliloquies.

Can you commit to an absolute minimum of 1 post every 2 days: Yup.

Can you commit to this game for a long time, as the bare minimum is measured in months not weeks: yup.

What would you like to do in this game/get out of this game: Hard to say, I have no idea what RotRL is about. But to have fun seems like a sane objective.

oops, seems the recruitment was already closed.

Just a bit, sorry. This was a quick one. I'll consider you all if someone else drops out.
