GM Arkwright |
The next day!
As for whatever reason you are walking along the street, you see the panicked form of Amele Barrett. She carries her baby, Verah, in one hand, and holds close the crying form of her son, Aeren. He eyes are wide and panicked and she lets out a "Thank the gods!" When she sees you.
"Heroes! Please I need... I need your... HELP! PLEASE!" She is breathless, after having run quite a way.
Noro Kasuri |
Noro was starting to spend the day showing Wyam around the town. and what places to avoid, or at the very least don't go without her.
the Amele came running up. Noro just rolls her eyes not likeing this hero bit very much.
knowledge local: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19
to see what she remembers about this family
Jusht calm down Noro tells her tell ush what is wrong? the goblinsh are all gone for now
Noro tries to calm her realizing she is just a mother and family woman, not someone to expect trouble from like the other one.
damn you Wyam, you got me getting soft
then for no apprent reason Noro punches Wyam on the arm
there, still a tough girl
GM Arkwright |
Amele nearly bursts into tears. "They... they're not!"
Very quickly, she stammers out her story. For the past few nights, young Aeren has complained of a "Monster Goblin" in his closet, keeping him awake; her husband had to go in to soothe his night terrors, for upon opening the closet is was always found to be empty. Last night they decided not to go in so he would learn to get over his silly fears. When he started screaming, they just ignored him; but then he grew shrill and they also heard their dog, Petal, cry out in pain.
Amele takes a breath and then shows you Aeren's arms. Both of them are marked by fresh bloody goblin bites!
When her husband Alergast burst into the room, they found Petal dead with a knife in his ear, and a goblin trying to gnaw Aeren's arms off. Alergast flew into a rage as the Goblin ran into the closet. "And... and I grabbed the children and came for your help... PLEASE! PLEASE! Come help my husband!"
Wyam Marshaal |
As Amele tells her story, Wyam beckons the boy-child over to him. When he does so, Wyam calls on Iomedae to heal the boys wounds.
Lay on Hands: 1d6 ⇒ 3
"All better?" he asks, smiling with a grim sort of compassion.
3 more remaining for "today"
Chaise Zikaldiru |
Chaise's easy-going grin turns to a solemn smile as the woman explains her trouble. He stays to the side, a supporting presence, waiting to be led.
GM Arkwright |
Amele tears up as Wyam heals her son's wounds and she thanks you very very much. Then she turns and leads you all to her house, shakily pointing the way to her son's room up the stairs. She stays outside.
Up the stairs, turn right, closed door. Do me a favour and roll initiative, but we're not in rounds yet.
Chaise Zikaldiru |
Initiative: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16
Chaise follows, treading lightly as he follows Wyam's lead.
Noro Kasuri |
Noro follows the others knowing most likely the home will be small with limited room. to many people clustered together is not her idea of a "tactical advantage".
perception check: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25
Once there as the others seem to be checking out the house Noro picks up something, a familiar sound.
She moves her way to the front
shhhh. she point to the other room. she holds up her hand then whispers back
in here, I got a plan...on three we get him.
ready one...two... Noro rushes in to the room she heard the sounds.
she then yells three
GM Arkwright |
Noro rushes through the door, into the room. She sees a bed, a chest of drawers, and in the corner, a cupboard. Lying in the middle of the room is the dead body of the family dog, a wicked wound from a dogslicer still leaking blood from its neck.
In front of the cupboard lies Alergast on the floor, all of his head and most of his shoulder inside it, but the door is partly closed, obscuring the sight of it. Then it swings open, revealing a small goblin with yellow teeth, chewing and gnawing on Alergast's half-eaten head. Blood drops from his teeth as he grins at the new arrivals.
Noro inti: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11
Goblin init: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24
Initiative order:
Goblin
Rest of you
You get a surprise round; Noro I'm afraid I'm ruling your surprise round action as opening the door. Chaise, Spectrum and Wyam are up.
Noro Kasuri |
Splinters? And yep sorry, there was a door.
\\
I was joking, I knew there was a door just sad face have to skip the surprise round and not have the chance to smash a goblin face today
Chaise Zikaldiru |
Chaise has difficulty moving through the narrow space, but squeezes past the others to get into the room and stand near the wall as he gets his bearings.
GM Arkwright |
Enemies filling its vision the goblin gets very, very, VERY angry.
He lets loose an angry screaming howl setting your teeth on edge and tenses his arms, veins appearing against skin as new muscles seem to grow before your eyes. His body shifts, head stooping over as his body grows taller and taller, becoming what you can only think of as bear-like.
Raising his hands to reveal nasty claws on each along with the now gnashing teeth in his mouth, the goblin steps towards Wyam and savages him.
Claw: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (12) + 9 = 21 1d4 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
Claw: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (2) + 9 = 11 1d4 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
Bite: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25 1d4 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
You're up
Noro Kasuri |
Leave him alone you...arrrr
Noro rushs at the goblin coming down on the wall next to the goblin sending wood in all directions.
enter rage and steps up to the goblin to attack
attack: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9
Next shot will be your head unless you surrender.
trying to turn a miss into a non-embarassing moment
Chaise Zikaldiru |
"Wyam!"
Chaise snaps a hand forward, pointing his finger at the goblin as he utters an incantation.
Jolt: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15
Damage: 1d3 ⇒ 1
"I've never seen that happen before," he mumbles under his breath.
Wyam Marshaal |
Wyam growls in pain as the goblin-creature's claw and then bite pierce his mail to draw a surprising amount of blood. In spite of this, his sword flashes out,
Attack (Longsword): 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
Damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
... but the creature avoids his surprisingly clumsy blow.
Status hp 10/22, AC 20
Spectrum |
Nope. He has a +8 will save. If I warn him, I might be able to give him an additional bonus.
Or I can move in and angle it to miss everyone else. Without a map, I can't give specifics, but I'm sure there's a way. Up to you how you want to do it.
GM Arkwright |
There's a map.
Map
Okay, as you wish.
Spectrum sprays bright lights.
Goblin save: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (11) + 3 = 14
Wyam save: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18
The goblin sways drunkenly, stunned.
You fellows next. The stunned condition will last until Spectrum posts.
Spectrum |
I could have moved to K7 to avoid catching Wyam. If there was no way not to catch him, Spectrum still would have done it, but given an option he'd play it safe. Mind if I retcon to move there?
Chaise Zikaldiru |
Oh! Forgot about the shooting at things in melee bit.
Chaise tries again, closing an eye and squinting as he carefully points another finger at the goblin. He chants the incantation again, snapping his hand back as a jolt of lightning flashes out of his finger towards the goblin.
Jolt: 1d20 + 2 - 4 ⇒ (11) + 2 - 4 = 9
Damage: 1d3 ⇒ 2
Noro Kasuri |
thish bugger sheems stronger might want to capture it Noro suggests as she goes for the grapple on the goblin.
grapple check: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (16) + 10 = 26
guessing that is high enough
Noro reaches down at the goblin grabbing hold and forcing him into a postion where he can't do too much harm.
Wyam Marshaal |
Wyam holds his next thrust when Spectrum casts a brilliant spell which is followed up by Noro darting in to wrap the suddenly-staggered creature up into a pretzel. Recognizing the opportunity for what it was, he whacked at the goblin with the flat of his blade.
Attack (Longsword, Non-Lethal): 1d20 + 6 - 4 ⇒ (14) + 6 - 4 = 16
Damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
Noro Kasuri |
Noro continues her hold on the goblin tightening her grip
grapple to maintain: 1d20 + 10 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 10 + 5 = 26
unarmed damage inficted from the grapple: 1d6 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 10 Noro is inflicting Non-leathal so she can capture the goblin.
Wyam Marshaal |
Seeing the goblin continue to struggle, Wyam swats at it again...
Attack (Longsword, Non-Lethal): 1d20 + 6 - 4 ⇒ (7) + 6 - 4 = 9
Damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
... coming nowhere near the creature in his attempt to avoid hitting Noro as well.
GM Arkwright |
Okay, let's see.
Noro needs to roll a 7 to maintain the grapple each turn
Goblin needs to roll a 15 to break the grapple.
The goblin's got enough HP to keep this going for another five to eight rounds.
COMBAT CALLED
The goblin slumps to the ground in Noro's embrace, breathing hard, pulse racing as its body slowly uncontorts to its normal shape, causing the goblin evident pain.
Heh- maybe I shouldn't have removed that level from the goblin after he clawed at Wyam so badly. In any case, well done. You've got one half-rabid goblin imprisoned, and two corpses.
Wyam Marshaal |
"I've got some rope in my pack outside with Fearghus, my horse. I'll fetch it and be right back to tie this... vermin, up."
Wyam makes to exit the room and head back downstairs, confident the threat had been dealt with.
Chaise Zikaldiru |
Chaise nods then kneels down to see if there's anything that can be done for Alergast. After a few moments, he shakes his head and follows behind Wyam to inform Amele of her loss.
Noro Kasuri |
Chaise nods then kneels down to see if there's anything that can be done for Alergast. After a few moments, he shakes his head and follows behind Wyam to inform Amele of her loss.
as Chaise goes to leave Noro jumps up..wait!
She goes to Chaise be careful what you shay, the children
Noro seems more concerned over this family then she has about anything else.
Noro goes and stays with the unconcious goblin, if he stirs even a little she smacks it in the head.
while waiting for the rope she tries to clen the blood and remains as best she can.
