The night passes uneventfully and you are awaken with the smell of coffee and bacon in the morning.
"Rise and shine sleepy heroes. A rescue awaits. Here is where you need to search... "
Ignizi draws a crude map on a chalkboard. She as the others wish you the best of Desna's blessings with the instructions on how to find Riddywipple’s log. The directions are fairly simple, leading them to clear landmarks throughout the forest.
Unless there are any special activities before leaving the cottage, you are able to march through the day, following a series of ravines that Ignizi indicated would lead you to Riddywipple’s fallen log. You manage to locate the log, which is distinguished by a series of distinctive carvings that adorn the trees for twenty yards in every direction.

As the party approaches the right area, Ezren leans himself against a nearby tree.
"So, that's our log over there, is it? Hmm, these markings..." He reaches out and feels the markings with his fingers.
Knowledge (Arcana, History, Nature, or Planes)?: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (5) + 11 = 16 If any one of those will apply.

GM Aarvid |

Though you locate the log, you don’t see anyone around in log or nearby trees. Ezren checks out the carvings, but they do not appear magical and he cannot make anything out of them.
See map. Perception checks everyone that has not yet made one.
After half a minute, however, you hear a squeaky voice about 30' feet up a nearby hillside a good 60' feet to the southeast of the log.
You hear a shrill voice call out..."I am up here! Come on up if you can catch me."

GM Aarvid |

You approach large fallen log but notice nothing of interest. Meanwhile the voice to the southeast continues to chatter.
"What do you know about the walking dead? Are you looking to join their army? Come closer so I can get a better look at you. I am just up the hill."

GM Aarvid |

The squeaky voice seems to move further up the hill to the southeast.
"I will show myself when I am ready. You can come up here and see me better in the fading sunlight."
Let me know if anyone moves up or around the hill. None of you can see what is speaking from where you stand.

GM Aarvid |

I have moved Harsk up on the map. However, I will let the group decide where Harsk goes after that since the others in the group might have different plans.

GM Aarvid |

The snake slithers off to the east as directed by Toro. Harsk and Biter approach the hill cautiously. None of you have seen the source of the strange shrill voice, but it definitely sounds like it originates on the large hill to the southeast.
"Yes, now I can see you better. Just a little closer and we will have a nice chat. There are many of you and only one of me. I want to get to know you better."

GM Aarvid |

Looking in the log, you see a bed or nest made of flowers and colorful feathers, a large shell, two shiny rocks, and a pile of belt buckles, and a ball of yarn. None looks to be of any particular value.

GM Aarvid |

Harsk: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (16) + 9 = 25
As Harsk moves up the hill with Biter at his ankles, he climbs the first tier of rock, but does not see the source of the voice. As he starts to scale the second tier, with his dwarven skills, he notices a patch of rock that is set to slide down into a ravine below. He stops.
"Whoa Biter. Watch yer steps here! Some treachery at play."
As he says this you hear the screechy voice.
"Oh, well that is no fun. Now you have made me angry!"
And you hear the flap of large wings approaching from behind the hill. Suddenly into the air above the hill appears a large black dragon swooping down towards the dwarf.
Ezren: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3

Map fixed - not a problem. :-)
The dragon swoops around looking like it is trying to line up the largest grouping of your group as it circles overhead.

Ezren tries to recall what he knows of dragons and their ilk.
Knowledge (Arcane): 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (11) + 11 = 22
He moves away from the dragon, towards Kyra. Ezren then removes a small piece of leather from his component pouch and touches it to his forhead while he encants, "Ma protejeze cu energie arcane."
Cast Mage Armor on himself. Will last for 4 hours.

GM Aarvid |

The dragon circle, flapping of the wings heard loudly.
Harsk takes a careful shot with his crossbow at the large beast. The bolt appears to be on target. It is hard to tell if it did any damage.
Harsk, make a will save.
Kyra calls the blessing of her god upon the party.
Ezren boltsters his armor with a spell.

True dragons are divided into four broad categories: chromatic, Imperial, metallic, and primal.
Chromatic dragons (black, blue, green, red, white) are almost universally evil, seeking only to slake their endless lust for food, treasure, and bloodshed.
Dragons attack with claws, bites, tail, wings, spells and breath weapons.
13 All Black dragons may breath a line of acid, reveal all dragon traits (above)
18 Black dragons are immune to acid

Will Save: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (18) + 10 = 28+4 if involving Fey or plants (you never know)
Toro will command the snake to move straight south on the map, 40' for a double move. Toro will hold his action to attack if the dragon gets close enough.

GM Aarvid |

A faint voice from atop the hill...
"Oh Fooey! I mean...nothing. It... really is a big dragon! Watch out here it comes again....Roaooahahhrrrr!"
But not quite as convincing to most of you. Ezren is still impressed.

GM Aarvid |

Suddenly behind you, back towards the log, you hear high pitched laughter. A small colorful dragon appears flapping tiny wings and starts with a bunch of questions.
"I love that one. Gets them every time. So who are all of you anyway and why are you here? What do you know about the walking dead? Are you looking to join their army? Answer quickly before I call a real dragon!"

![]() |

Ezren makes his way towards the log and the prankster dragon.
"Well, now that you've given us that fright, I guess I'm just happy to not be made dinner. We're Pathfinders, searching for a gnome named Dijjit...Have you any idea where the undead may have taken her?"
I nearly soiled myself, bloody dragons.

GM Aarvid |

The small colorful dragon flitters about, but keeping its distance, still watching for any sudden movements.
"So you are friends of Dijjit? I am not sure I know that gnome,
but I know a gnome named Ignizi. Ever met her?
She is nice. Oh yes, back to the undead.
They are all over the place. So are you here to kill them and
wipe out their army? Say, do I smell bacon? I do not like bacon.
But I like muffins...with honey that is. So you think you can
handle the undead? Oh, and is this large snake with you?
I think snakes are fun."

GM Aarvid |

"Well, as you may apparently know, I am Riddywipple. What are your names? I am sorry I was invisible, but alas I am not much of
a fighter, so tricks help me survive in the woods. But any friends of gnome Ignizi are a friend of mine."
He flies loops around buzzing from one to another of you trying to hear your name if you give it.
"I will help you Pathfinders eliminate the undead threatening the woods. I have a suspicion where the dead armies might be coming from. I will ask some of my fey forest friends for information to see if they can pinpoint the source of the undead. Although they may not take kindly to your group. You are more than welcome to stay the night here at my log and we can leave in the morning. I just love the dawn, don't you?"
