Aazanar receives no answer, and the comms station reflects that he's broadcasting to empty space. As Sebrir attempts to entertain his audience, he notices that he currently has 0 viewers (this may or may not be unusual for him).

The ship’s sensors indicate nearby gravitational anomalies, and the ship starts gently shaking.

Phased Checks: The next several checks that will follow in this post and beyond will occur in relatively rapid sequence. No Take 10 for reasons that will become apparent. Each PC may make 1 check or Aid Another per phase.

Phase 1

Computers, DC 15:
You realize that the sensor data must be false.

Physical Science, DC 15 (Space Anomolies):
You can calculate more accurate navigational data based on your understanding of gravitational anomalies.

Perception, DC 20 (cannot be Aided):
You realize that the shaking seems artificial, like the ship's own engines are acting erratically and jerking you around.

Takeshi can take on either the Computers or Phys. Sci. check with equal modifiers (+9). Perception modifier is lower (+7), perhaps someone else may be better suited to succeed at that one. Coordination time? Which of our characters is going to attempt the checks?

1 person marked this as a favorite.

In order to facilitate the PbP format, I'll take the highest of a same roll as a main roll and any others of the same check as Aid Anothers.

Overseer Review:
I know this is counter to the specific directions in the scenario that the PCs determine who is doing what before rolling, but that could easily eat 3 days.

Sebrir is so busy freaking out that his viewership numbers on all his previous videos are currently zero that he doesn't notice anything. "It must be a glitch! Why, I normally have hundreds of thousands of views a day!" He babbles on and on about his success for a long time, and even starts to lose his coherence as panic really starts to set in...

Chogas has no idea what's happening, but holds tight to his seat as the ship shakes. To viewers of Sebrir's show on the infosphere, it almost looks like he is intentionally throwing himself around while the camera's shaking, but he's really not.

Due to the website issues, I'm going to push here to try to make up for lost time. Those who wish to attempt a Perception check for Phase 1, feel free to do so retroactively.

Phase 2

The ship starts shaking uncontrollably and barely responds to controls.

The pilot may attempt a Piloting check to try to steer the ship—albeit with great difficulty.

Someone may attempt an Engineering check or make a melee attack roll (kick the engines) to try to momentarily stabilizes the ship. Once someone attempts one way to fix the engine, the other is locked out.

Computers, DC 20:
You realize that a virus is interfering with the controls and can write a script on the fly that allows limited access to the hijacked systems.

I'll let you retroactively attempt the Computers check. Perception is now closed.

Chogas manages to ride the winds for a moment, briefly slowing the descent. Takeshi fires up a few of the thrusters manually, allowing a bit of control.

Chogas pulls up the nose of the landing craft and slows it enough that it should not hurt too much when you land if the landing gear are down. If you could only get the landing gear down.

The rocky ground continues to grow closer and closer so you all brace yourselves for impact. Suddenly there is a loud click followed by a rumble through the landing craft.

The craft skids to a halt--tossing you forward just a little--and bounces atop the fully descended landing struts. Quirky and Bumblebee then emerge from a panel in the floor.

Congratulations! You managed to take no damage to your ship or yourselves.

You can see the starship graveyard in the near distance. Environmental systems activated, although the ship's sensors read a breathable and comfortable atmosphere (who can believe those right now?), you disembark and begin the short hike to the graveyard. Closer, you see that the ships have been disassembled to some degree and rearranged, reassembled, and fused into a strange interlinked complex or habitation. After scouting around for a while, you find no evidence of life, so you enter one of the hatches.

Lighting runs along the corridors, suggesting that someone is maintaining the power through this complex. After a few turns, you spy two humans and a lashunta. Both humans bear the Starfinder insignia on their armor, and the lashunta bears the insignia plus the markings of a Captain. They stare at you as you come into view, their eyes wide and mouths frozen open in silent screams.

Chogas fires his cannon at the assailant in front of him, trying to take them out.

Using the aid token for additional damage and passing it.

1d20 + 6 - 4 ⇒ (19) + 6 - 4 = 21
damage: 1d10 + 1d8 ⇒ (3) + (1) = 4 Crap. Oh well.

Seeing the hit do little damage, he unemotionally switches to his longsword and runs forward to engage with the closest foe, hoping to draw fire away from his lighter-armored companions.

Does what looks like a pile of crate-like stuff in the middle of the battlefield give cover of any kind?

Unable to find any real solutions to the situation other than combat, Takeshi realizes he will need to try assist the group with their assailants.

Maintaining his position, he focuses on the Starfinder Captain. His mouth moves slightly though no sound is heard. Proc, track target. Combat tracking - Starfinder Captain - yellow (BAB=level(1) for this target) - move action

He then draws his needler and prepares to fire. standard action

"They're Starfinders! Try to knock them out! We might be able to snap them out of it if we can capture them!"

I think blue may be down at this point but if blue is up I will do the following: (path marked by solid arrows)

Taking out his Flame Doshko and dropping his spear, Aazanar darts to the side and dives into a roll, coming up behind the enemy Starfinder.

Acrobatics to Tumble: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8

But if blue is already down I will charge yellow: (path marked by dashed arrow)

Aazanar pulls out his Flame Doshko and rushes the starfinder captain, charging straight for him!

Either Way:

Ember Flame Doshko vs. EAC -4 nonlethal: 1d20 + 6 - 4 ⇒ (12) + 6 - 4 = 14 (This roll is +2 for flanking if against blue. If against yellow my Stellar Rush ability means I take no penalty for a charge.)
Nonlethal Damage +1 photon mode: 1d8 + 3 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 3 + 1 = 9

Using the Barricade feat to make a single square of cover. Shown on the map as a red square.

The hover drone fires another round into the lost Starfinder. Bumblebee fires its own round into the same Starfinder, but its mechanic nervously launches a needle dart across the room and into a wall.

Chogas fires his reaction cannon at the closest Starfinder and leaves a large hole in his abdomen. The Starfinder falls and gasps, "I'm sorry... the nanites are too strong..." He then begins to spasm as he lays dying on the floor.

Aazanar charges across the room and swings his doshko into the captain, hard. Meanwhile, Sebrir builds himself a barricade.

The captain draws a tactical baton in his other hand and cracks it across the lashunta's head. The other lost Starfinder fires his pistol at Aazanar, but it is a wide miss.

Aazanar continues to try and subdue the captain, swinging his flame doshko towards the captain's midsection.

Chogas kneels next to the fallen starfinder and takes what steps he can to stop him from dying immediately.

Medicine, untrained for first aid: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 1 = 19

Nodding in satisfaction as his life signs stabilize, Chogas moves towards the next one, preparing for another attack.

That medicine check worked to stabilize, and moving towards red.

Aazanar's plan to disable the rogue Society members seems sound, though the execution seems to be lacking, he looks wryly at his needler wishing he'd been able to buy some tranquilizing medicaments.

He then dashes around the Sebrir's barricade, and around the corner of the wall next to him. Crouching with his back to the wall he draws a bead on the Society Captain and fires.

Needler (+1 combat tracking): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22

Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 2

Hearing the comment about nanites starts him thinking.

A recall check (obviously not allowed this round) would be against which skill - Engineering, Medicine, Computers?
