Mysterious murders and polite society provide a wonderful façade for things much more sinister. Evil will survive you. Will you survive it?

You are fifty meters under the ground and near the river. You have all of the items that Mr. Zhou brought to you, Brother Thomas has a holy symbol, Lucretia has a wooden stake, Van Helsing said something about garlic, but no one had access to the strands required that quickly.

I thought you'd said we could act out of turn. Save my roll for later then.

You can post out of turn, but when I recap,I have to put it in initiative order. I was just remarking how strong a character Reagan was. If she had a higher initiative roll, the encounter may end quicker. Great description of the blast by the way.
Edgar Stone wrote: I was under the impression that we each had a strand of garlic..? Right you are! Thanks for bringing that back to my attention. I don't want to ret con that round, but it will play a factor in the next. Apologies.

No worries. Perhaps when we first entered we were downwind of them ;)
Should I bot Altair? I need him to post before round one recap.
Also, some night creatures that you encounter have fast healing and/or DR. I have adjusted these a bit to lower the CR some.

I'm all good for "as per myth and not as per Bestiary entry". Keep bit of mystery :)

I also have no objection to mechanically altered/unique creatures and NPCs. In the case of DR I prefer if the effect is noticeable, per the rules entry comment "other characters can see that conventional attacks won't work." Otherwise I'm likely to inefficiently/uselessly batter away at something assuming that it just has a ton of hit points. I mean, I prefer fast healing to be noticeable too, but it usually is, whereas I've run into frustration in the past with DMs who offer no distinction between the DR vs high HP scenarios.
No objection to botting Altair either - it's been close on 5 days since his last post. You should feel free to bot Edgar if I haven't made a post of any kind for more than a calendar day - I won't take offense, and generally anything that prevents me from posting in gameplay will also prevent me from posting in discussion about why I haven't posted in gameplay.
If no post by this evening, I will bot and recap.

I'm sorry guys. I had to help a friend move and I've still been failing to find a job and I've been dropping into bed like a vampire into a coffin every time I got home, pretty much; I haven't been able to even think about the boards for a couple days.
Glad to see, Nikos is a fun character.
I'm going to wait to recap round two until after Reagan posts.
I'm just waiting on an answer from George here to see if we need to keep a spawn intact before moving on.

Sorry for the brevity of my gameplay post, but work's too busy today for anything lengthier and I don't want to hold things up.
Don't worry. We need to consider RL. I get busy as well. I really like this cast and I am hoping to continue this for a long time. Breaks in momentum will probably occur.
Pardon the delay. I am working on a monologue for tonight's post.

Can I check; has Fitzroy used his first round's actions?

Okay - thanks.
I wasn't sure if falling to his knees and doing some skill checks counted.
I'm waiting to resolve round two combat. I am still here. I realize that some of you may be busy.

Sorry for the delay. I promise in the future to memorise some sort of combat spell ;P
George Fitzroy wrote: Sorry for the delay. I promise in the future to memorise some sort of combat spell ;P No problem. Now I can post tonight!
Pardon the delay, will be posting soon. I have decided to award this group some extra XP because of the tremendous role play and effort that you put into this.

Sweet! Thanks :)
I have to say, great game so far - good show!
Thank you. It is pretty easy with wonderfully creative players and a healthy interest in the time period.

*blushes* Oh, stop it, you.
Congratulations! You have all made it to level 3. You can go ahead and upgrade your character, but we will need to do some RP back at Lord Walker's residence.
I'm planning on my next post being a few days later than the sewer encounter which happened the late afternoon of January 5, 1891. How about another dinner at Walker's on January 10, 1891? A chance to heal up and possibly study.
If you have other requests or ideas, let me know here please.

Without meaning to derail the game, this thing threatens London - England even. Can we afford to wait days before we respond?
On the other hand, if I were these creatures I wouldn't stop running until I had found a new hideout. They cannot know we wont be back with reinforcements - even a small army - within minutes.
Good point. Who would believe that you saw an oversized undead Zulu flesh golem bent on revenge. I can adjust the time line if you wish. I was thinking about getting Edgar healed up. I will go with majority decision on this one.

I also am prepared to go with a majority decision :)
Did they move? If they moved we could come back in a few hours and find the area vacant.
I'm fine with either. This group heavily damaged the creature. Sometimes, I try to have the creature flee if they get to a certain hit point level.

Edgar will do whatever Lord Walker instructs; he's more a tactics man than a strategist.
GMDbS I'm all for enemies expressing a survival instinct, especially when they believe they face death rather than mere defeat.
Working on leveling, I'll post a summary of changes once complete. I have no idea what feat I'm going to take; trying to decide whether to commit to a feat chain or just take a generically useful one. This is the first time I've played a Brawler, and I'm still trying to wrap my head around what his martial flexibility and bonus combat feats can accomplish down the road.

Also working on leveling. There's a lot to do, and i want to hold off posting until it's done. I'm also going through some personal issues, so if you feel the need to move on, I won't feel badly should you do so.
No problem. Take your time. I wish you well.

Thomas is updated. I think I got everything settled. He can now use aid another at a distance, and I took the additional traits feat to take Seeker, and Battlefield disciple.
I wish there were more traits to help aid another become more powerful. Looking at taking swift aid at level five, but it's still a trade-off of using a swift action for less benefit. Although at level 6 I can use aid another for two people at a time, so that'll be interesting.
Thomas would be in favor of having someone tail the monster, but he'd be a bit worried about running into an ambush. He is also concerned about Lord Walker. For he knows there might be monsters preparing to invade his house right now.

I managed to miss that somehow. And by "somehow" I mean "by not reading the entire Heal skill description."
I know that some of you need time to level up. Is the general consensus to return to the Walker residence? If yes, I will post in gameplay, and we can go from there.

Oh - I'm more than happy to go to the Walker residence now. Tom's convinced me. We need to warn Walker and arrange for reinforcements.
Just not sure I'd then hang around for a week ;P
If you haven't leveled up, please do so. You'll need the HP.

All good.
Hoping to borrow a gun from Lord Walker so Fitzroy's not such a burden on his companions in combat.
Not sure when to apply changes like additional slots and extra HP.

Alright, I think Reagan is ready. Also, while I was building her, I realized I'd forgotten her "Human Bonus Feat", because I'm good at this game.
I'm working on some maps for encounters. I'm thinking that if I use Google docs and select share with edit privileges, everyone can move their icons around between rounds, I think. Thoughts?

I've used it.
Can be a pain to load all the images in, but it does work.
Some people cannot access google.
I've seen Sheets and Drawings used.
Drawings has the advantage that it looks nicer, and conveys themes better.
Sheets has the advantage that (if you resize the cells to squares) it is easy to colourise squares, and measure distances.
I've run games mapless, if you're interested. Works okay, but requires some subtle rules changes. Can lead to less strategic play, but makes descriptions essential.
I'm good with theatre of the mind as we have done thus far, but I think that I will employ maps for some complicated encounters, especially to help Reagan out with bombs.
CN Male Unchained Rogue (Sczarni Swindler) 3 | HP 24/24 | AC 17, T 13, FF 10 | CMD: 16 | F 2, R 6, W 1 | Init +3 | Per +8
Theatre of the mind with simple maps for busy encounters seems nice. Speaking from experience, the most fun I had as an alchemist was when I could do clever things with bomb splash.
I've finally leveled Altair to 3. Now all I need to do is figure out what the plan is for this gang of hooligans I've managed to piss off.
Paying them is obviously out of the question, even if I could hypothetically scam various Londoners out of a collective sum of money that could be adequate.
Maybe with a little access to divine magic (I don't think George has let his cat out of the bag either) we can put the fear of God in them...
If I can convince Thomas to do that, anyway.
