3rd January,

The mist hangs curtain-like over the damp London night air. The clap of hooves upon pavers start to subside as lively revelers begin to dissipate into their dwellings for the evening. Holiday celebrations are continuing for those apt and able to celebrate.

An occasional clink is heard as the lamplighters accidentally catch the ground with their torches, their jobs nearly complete. The smell of peat and gas fill the dampness as the last quarter moon is obscured slightly by thick grey clouds.

All manner of things are simultaneously occurring in the world's most populous industrialized city, Great London. Curiosities continuously tempt those with means while others struggle to find a place to rest their heads at night. Consumption and Cholera afflict some.

Dock builders cannot keep up with the demands of trade. Cultural trends appear overnight. Gentlemen meet behind the closed doors of exclusive clubs to discuss all manner of things from scientific discoveries, business speculations and competitive exploration.
