Thanks fellas, I'm glad that got handled so well.
French Wolf I think we should all take your stance on the spoilers for the moment. If they're taggeed for people specifically and it's not you, please don't read them. Like you say, some of you don't really know each other from a gaming stance so let's keep spoilers sacrosanct.
Also, yes I have set up a moral dilemma here. There'll be plenty more to come I'm sure. I'm a bit like Terra Nova in the fact that I believe a world is more about shades of grey than it is black and white. I will promise you now though that I will not do descriptive stuff of things like rape or real nasty things to kids and the like. While things like that happen in the game world, they will be merely mentioned rather than described. The game is meant to be enjoyed, not a harrowing experience.
I'm hoping you're all feeling a little tense about things though, that's what I was going for asa start for the campaign.
Cheers

Wrath I like what you got going on here.
Wrath
It may not be showing but Vik is getting emotional with this event. I love it. He really is torn, he was part of a rading group as per my background but families in such immeadiate danger of death and being torn apart his senseabilites are being assaulted. This is going to be an awsome game/experience. As an aside I just realized that in my two PbP games both of my DM's are from Austrailia. Man I love the internet and it's communication possibilities. Well keep up the good work

Mark
I only have the campaign setting to work from with the gods. They only give half a page each in that document but it gives a good feel for things. I always did like dwaven gods and the creation mythos they carry. Protecting hearth is always a strog theme in them also.
I actually think everyone is still fitting into their characters as well. It usually takes me some time to get a feel for a new character at least. If you find over the next few weeks there are aspects you'd like to change as you get a better feel fo her, let me know and we'll give them a try.
I plan on playing up your arteficer aspect as well during the game. I was taken by it in your character profile and it inspired me for some future stuff.
Cheers

No harm, no foul. Just wanted you guys to know where I am coming from, I'm a newbie to some of this group.
Since I have three days of solid gaming coming up this weekend, I am a very happy bunny.
What are you doing with your mini-break, Khaladon?
Cheers
Cool. Good to hear.
And me? I'll be relaxing on truly one of the most beautiful beaches in the world Tulum, in the Riviera Maya, Mexico. (and I Live right on one of the nicest and most famous beaches in the world, Cancun, so when I say Tulum is the bomb, believe me ;-)

Woodraven,
You asked in character about the Ulfen that were on the docks in teh first post. Altough Vik can't them from where he is very clearly, their boat markings and sail rigging clearly identify them as Boar Clan. They're a long way from home, but then Boars were always renowned for journeying far and tradding their skill at war for money and weapons. Thought I'd let you know, it slipped my mind while I was writing the battle stuff. Cheers.

Take it easy on your vacations, guys!
And yeah Wrath, it's certainly feeling tense... :)
I just noticed a stupid mistake on my part. I never put down my first feat. I meant to take Weapon Finesse, though right about now I wish I had planned on taking archery feats...;) Sorry about that.
No Probs Valkyrie. I'm aware some of you are still putting fiishing touches on characters.
On that note, I mentioned to Mark that I'm aware people will take a while to get a proper feel for their characters. If over the next two or three weeks there are some things you'd like to tweak on them to better fit your feel, let me know and we'll try to work it in. Especially things like spell selections, domains and feats, as they can really give a character falvour. As long as your character hasn't been using something continuously and then suddenly tries to change we should be all good.
Cheers

Wrath
Not complaining at all, I made my choice and am happy to play with it, but just observing what a huge difference PF and D&D in general makes between casters and fighters. Cleric especially is a class seemingly so much favoured over say the Monk in particular. Clerics are decent front-liners, almost if not equal to a Monk, they can cast Divine spells, have turning ability and have domain powers as well. Crazily overbalanced compared to the poor Monk! lol
...Ok, maybe I Did have an alterior motive in the above diatribe cuz I just Might have been hoping it would help you say say to This =D
I was thinking, would it be too much to add another ability to the Star Medallion that, regardless of what ever spell it had stored in it, should the person wearing it ever fall below 0hp it would use however many charges necessary to bring the wearer back above 0? Unless of course in the case of massive damage and the person was already below -10. What choo think?

Wrath

Khaladon
In short, yes it is too much to ask for at this stage. That would make it far more powerful than the trait allows for. At a later date I may make other powers available to you, kind of like a legacy item. That was my plan at any rate. With your new build and full attack progression, you are going to far outshine ourcleric in combat. Especially when said cleric is going to be constantly having to balance casting beneficial spells or getting mixed up in fighting, something you're monk will never have to worry about. Also, in my experience with higher level games, cerics never really become effective in combat compared to fighters etc.
Have faith in Bo-Dan my young Padawan, she will shine I can assure you. I make sure each character has their moment in the sun. Encounters are written to challenge everyone.

Wrath: ** spoiler omitted **
Val
I'll give you some isider info Val, just to lay some concerns to rest since the situation is getting tense enough without the added worry :).
The ship has been fitted with an elemental accelerator for emergencies. This one is most likely bound with a water elemental and provides a short duration burst to speed for the ship to help escape such things as pirates and dangerous waters or becalmed seas. If it runs anything like the one you had on the airship you worked, it can run for anything as short as a an hour on full power, or as long as a day running on cruise speed. The problem with these devices are they take a long time to recharge after use, and the speed tends to be erratic at first. Expect a serious jolt when this thing starts moving. Hope you don't mind the insider info, figured your character would be in the best position to know. Cheers.

A big welcome back to French Wolf. I hope you enjoyed your holiday and had a great weekend of non stop roleplay.
I have a big LAN weekend coming up myself. I should be able to still squeeze in a post or two tough :)
FW
I didn't realise your healing needed the touch attack till after I'd posted the thing. I just left it stand. Also, I've been thinking he'd have cut the ropes to the gangplank as soon as algret and Vik were distracted enough. No one has seen him do it and i have not described it as such. If you're happy with this let me know, if no I can merely have had him standing there assisting people off the gangplank. cheers

LAN?
It's good to be back. The ship fight is a cracker.
DM Wrath
** spoiler omitted **We gamed from Friday to Sunday with the evenings devoted to Risk and then Diplomacy. Good mates so it was great fun.
FW
LAN = Local area netwirk. We're linking up about 15 or 16 computers and playing first person shooters all weekend. Finish off on Sunday arvo with a six hour session of age of worms at level 18 (which I have the unenviable position of DMing. High level game, very hard to DM). Looking forward to geeking out this weekend all in all. :)

Woodraven |

Ok that hurt. Thanks FW for the little healing if it wasn't for you I would be at 0. If we want diplomacy Lets not use Vik he is more of the scare people to soil themselves then have them talk.
The way things are going I think Invisible castle hates me Wrath. I am just glad I had those hp to take those blows.
So who wants to solve this diplomaticy or by brute strength?

Khaladon |

I'm thinking whoever our 'face' is gives them an ultimatum combing a bluff, mercy, threat
Fire is no threat as our cleric will call on her gods to put it out, if they release the child safely we'll let them go unharmed, if they do not they will surely die. (I wanted to add "a long and painful death" but...Boy it's hard playing LG sometimes! ;-)

![]() |

Yeah Vik, that one did hurt :)
Good thing Barbarians are hit point intensive, and I'm thinking you're pretty unlucky, given my usual luck with IC.
Khaladon, we're officially out of round by round play at this stage. However, when we agree to In game the situation with the two goblins at the front of the ship, we'll either use freeplay mode for diplomacy or round by round if it tuns ugly and combat ensues.
Those of you hit by arrows will need to make a second fort save before we start the hostage situation as well. The DC is 12 standard, but goes up by one for every additional hit you took. It's a weak version of the wasp venom, and causes D6 dexterity damage. Not going to be a problem on the deck, but might cause Paera some issues coming down from the crows nest with the moving ship (if she fails)
Some things to note: The captain is on very low health before Bo-Dan uses the amulet. The helmsman can still be saved but you need to act quickly.
Feedback: If you feel like giving some feedback on how the combat was handled I'd appreciate it as well. It made combat fast but some issues popped up with people's actions having to change because of initiative order. Let me know what you thought and any suggestions for improements if you have some.
Cheers

Khaladon |

Honestly one of the best combats I've experienced on a PbP Wrath. Very cinematic and descriptive, lots of edge of your seat action and realism.
Two Thumbs Way Up!
Keep pumping them out like that and you'll have a very successful franchise on your hands. Can't wait for the sequel! =D
(and at least to me, I didn't see/feel any mix-ups in init order to have any noticeable effect at all...)

![]() |

Question. Could Vik make up the stairs in one move or would it take an acrobatics check to make in one?
Since you're only 30 feet away, and the stairs only slow you a little I think Vik can make it in a single move. They only really prevent a charge action in a straight line as it's an obstacle. Your move rate of 40 feet helps. I think Bo-Dan is 40 foot as well so the two of you could be in and attacking very quickly if the situation allows. (and you get surprise).
Cheers

![]() |

Thanks for the positive feedback all. I was more concerned about the mechanics of how I ran it, but I'll happily take the praise. It's good for the soul :).
Will be dolling out loot and xp soonish, something else to look forward to.
After that there'll be a bit of a period where you have some free form roleplay with the crew and passengers.
All of this assumes the front of the ship isn't blown off by the goblin.
Cheers

Woodraven |

I don't think we have to worry about chosing goblin or bag of alchemical goodness anymore with my roll from IC. I just hope the goblin doesn't have more than 19 hp, and an ac over 25 ;)
The only question left is does the Vikcat like to swim if the passenger's don't like the kitty cat. This is going to get interesting.

Alright, I hate these posts, since they are admissions of a mistake. I have bitten off way more than I can chew at this point, and have to cut back. Heck, my own game is suffering badly, and might need to be euthanized - and I plan to beat the record on euthanizing my companion cube.
Long story short: Life hectic, me busy... great game, thank you. Have fun.

Khaladon |

Hey Woodraven, hope ya don't take any offense to Bo-Dan's current opinion of Vik. His actions were wholly appropriate to a raging barbarian I figure. But I thought Bo-dan's were pretty appropriate too considering the 'hit first, think later' barbarian almost just blew her, and half of the ship, up ;-)

![]() |

We'll be able to get a real idea of how many people are on the boat now too. It's pretty crowded as it is, if I understood correctly. We can start worrying about supplies too! ;)
3d4 days before people start resorting to cannibalism?
Hehehe, you ever see the South Park episode where the townsfolk get locked in a bomb shelter. One hour in and they're drawing lots for who gets eaten first. Very funny stuff.

No problem Khal. The conflict between the two offers great opportunity for role play options. Threatening children directly or working with someone who has done/is doing in front of Vik offers great hatred and usually doesn't think to far ahead.

Ok
XP for destroying goblins, saving people from dock and basically good roleplay = 500
Loot - Arrows from the downed wasp rider and the goblin captain =35. They all carry a dose of poison but it will become useless in a few days.
Goblin weapons aren't much good except as daggers - 8 of these
Goblin shields can be used as bucklers - 9 of these
Goblin armour is no good to any of your characters as it is too small. There are 9 suits of leather and a suit of masterwork studded leather. You may be able to sell this eventually.
The goblin commander carried captured masterwork wepons from the battle with the god emperor. Masterwork longsword - useful for medium humanoids. Masterwork shortbow, also useful for humanoids.
There is a potion on the commander as well.
There are a total of 10 alchemest fire potions, in a satchel.
The goblins weren't carryong gold, given they were on a mission.
Cheers

Woo! Go us!
Maybe we can just give the armor to any halflings or gnomes that might be onboard, if there are any. You never know...

I remember actually being horrified by it!
