Here is the recruitment thread for the asked for Edge of Empire, Age of Rebellion, and Force and Destiny role-playing PbP. Before I get into Character Generation, the obligatory scroll...

STAR WARS

It has been a year since the REBELLION destroyed the DEATH STAR in order to prevent the benevolent EMPIRE from keeping peace and security throughout the galaxy. This is after they willingly sabotaged the DEATH STAR to destroy ALDERAAN, a peaceful planet with billions of innocent people...

...bzzz...
JackSnap here, sorry to burst your bubble, but that's blasted Imp propogarbage. Look, you don't know me, but I know you. At least, I know your datatrail. You gotta watch yourself better than that if you want to keep ISB out of your hair. I got connections to some of your connections and let's just say they had this great idea to stick it to the Imps. Starting with you. Meet me at these coordinates. Your tickets to the passenger liner, Jade Empress, are already taken care of. Good luck and I'd say something about the Force, but you see where that got the Jedi.

Character Generation

Standard Character generation from all 3 book sets. As far as extra money/ experience goes, I will allow you to add to whichever Debt you wish. Your character starts with either Duty, Obligation or Morality, depending on how you start out. You will have the opportunity to add the others through game play. As far as starting resources (i.e. ship, fighters or a base), you will receive that during the first parts of game play.

Speaking of, Destiny Points will be rolled in the very beginning and we will use them throughout the game. As long as we continue to use them judiciously, we shouldn't need to reroll them. However, if I notice that they aren't being used or I forget to use them so you can get some back, we can roll after every major plotpoint.

On that note, dice rolling I am going to go with the one at Orokos. The campaign will be called FFG-End of an Era.

Looking for about 4-6 players with good improv skills. Your Advantages are described by you. It's your character doing the cool stuff, tell us how cool s/he is. Knowledge of the Star Wars universe is not required, but it really helps.

Posting time- I am notoriously able to sometimes to be on all day and then be gone for a couple days. If you are able to be cool with that, I usually look for a post of some kind every 24 hours before I push ahead.

So, let the submissions and questions begin...

For what it's worth, if you don't want to use a separate system for dice rolling, the book does contain a conversion to normal dice instead of the FFG custom ones. I've been playing in a game for coming up on a year and it has worked really well.

Looks Like This:
Boost Die (Blue Die): D6
1-2 = Blank, 3 = Success, 4 = Success+Advantage 5 = Advantage x2, 6 = 1 Advantage

Setback Die (Black Die): D6
1-2 = Blank, 3-4 = Failure, 5-6 = Threat

Ability Die (Green Die): D8
1 = Blank, 2-3 = Success, 4 = Success x2, 5-6 = Advantage, 7 = Success+Advantage, 8 = Advantage x2

Difficulty Die (Purple Die): D8
1 = Blank 2 = Failure, 3 = Failure x2, 4-6 = Threat, 7 = Threat x2, 8 = Failure+Threat

Proficiency Die (Yellow Die): D12
1 = Blank, 2-3 = Success, 4-5 = Success x2, 6 = Advantage, 7-9 = Success+Advantage, 10-11 = Advantage x2, 12 = Triumph.

Challenge Die (Red Die): D12
1 = Blank, 2-3 = Failure, 4-5 = Failure x2, 6-7 = Threat, 8-9 = Failure+Threat, 10-11 = Threat x2, 12 = Despair

Force Die (White Die): D12
1=6 = 1 Darkside, 7 = 2 DarkSide, 8-9 = Lightside, 10-12 = 2 Lightside

Just something you might like to consider!

Hello =^^=

Okay. My idea: force sensitive wookie. Been dying to try this concept out

@Yorick- I saw that and was considering it, so I'll tell you what. We'll let you guys decide. Chart or Orokos?

I like the chart better because it's right here, but Orokos gives you the results and you don't have to spend time figuring it out. Vote with your concepts...

Normal dice rolls are fine. Might need to get use to it. But after a while it will be easy.

Hey! I play with OGGM in that other Star Wars FFG game here on the forums. Having checked out your campaign, I already linked the Campaign tab with all that wonderful info in it. And by the way, thanks for your help with those avatars! :-D

As for this game, as I said in my interest-seeking thread (By the way, yay! I am surprised and more than thrilled that it actually worked!), I am thinking a Human Guardian (Protector, Force Sensitive Emergent). Something along the lines of an ex-Jedi Youngling or Padawan (depends on his age, still thinking him up), who has been hiding out and has left behind the ways of the Order in order to survive, though not the desire to do good when he can.

Chronologically and fluff-wise, he was a Force Sensitive Emergent who was taken in by the order and taught the ways of the Guardian and the career's various basics. But since he has left the Jedi behind and is hiding out and has no lightsaber (at least not one with a crystal; still deciding on whether I should have him carry around a disassembled lightsaber hilt's components or have him be lightsaber-less entirely and spend the credits in some actually useful stuff), he has the Protector specialization, which is a more all-purpose spec than, say, a lightsaber spec (the Peacekeeper is not all that interesting to me, at least for the moment). And as a Force-user, methinks Morality will do nicely.

Since im almost completely new to the game.... ill se what i can come up with =^^=

Oh I'm not submitting for this game. It sounds awesome, but I'm already in a game with this system and I'd rather other people get to experience it! I just wanted to share it as an idea if you weren't aware of it.

Happy to help! I'm more than willing to do avatar stuff for this one, too, when it kicks off. Just let me know!

Dark Archive

I'm going to throw my hat in for a pilot/scoundrel type. I'll be using stuff from EotE since that's all I have.

I'm OK with a laid back posting rate. My vote will be for Orokos.

I have ran a few sessions of EotE.

Looks good so far guys. Looking forward to more submissions.. Would be interesting if ALL of you end up Force Sensitive...

I have the beginner guide of F+D and i have EotE

The nice thing about the series is that pretty much all of the skills and talents are the same, so they are interchangeable.

What kind of Force sensitive Wookiee were you thinking Seth?

Oh... thats quick. Either a force user or a LS wielding furry ball of vengence

A question: I would like at some point to have my Guardian embrace his past and wield a lightsaber, though he would do so sparingly and probably only when necessary due to the fact that the timeline can be pretty punishing for any Force-wielder that makes himself known (you know, Empire, Darth Vader, bounty hunters, Jedi to be apprehended or killed on sight, that whole thing). Thus, I would like him to eventually use some earned XP and grab some Lightsaber spec or other (Niman Disciple and/or Ataru Striker, to be specific). Will that be ok?

That fits well with the Looking for Mentor idea, as it will allow you an in game reason to be able to learn those combat abilities, so at this point, I don't see a problem with that.

I will try to have a character done by tomorrow night

I still have to read through a bunch of stuff but I am thinking some kind of Wookiee, probably a bounty hunter (Gadgeteer) or technician (outlaw tech). He may or may not be force sensitive, I haven't decided yet.

I am interested in being a player since I took over the gm of the game I am in. Not sure on concept yet, if you are good with me joining I will figure out one tomorrow

So far it looks like we have

Seth86 Force sensitive wookiee
F Castor Guardian Human
Nebten Pilot or Scoundrel ?
Browman Bounty hunter or technician wookiee
xyrophobic ? ?

I'll throw in as well as it seems the ffg game I'm in is finished...going to read a bit...

I have decided on my class and specialization. Kutishek is a wookiee bounty hunter (gageteer).

His stats are
Brawn 4
Agility 2
Intellect 3
Cunning 2
Willpower 2
Presence 2

All my XP was spent on stats

More to follow tomorrow after work.

Dark Archive

OK. So after review the Pilot background, it doesn't seem very impressive unless there will be a good number of vehicle encounters. From the games I've ran so far, it appears "Pilot-type" PC can get away with a lot as look as they have a good Agility score and maybe a rank or two in Piloting/gunnery.

DM, do you foresee your game making the Pilot background worth while? Otherwise, I'll probably work up a Scoundrel since they seem like a lot of fun in a PbP format. Thanx!

Love me some star wars. I am actually a rather versed player in the game so far as I have completed about two campaigns so far at table. I would be quite happy to pick up another if I could possibly as it's my favorite system so far that I have played.

Looking at possibly a Soresu Defender with a heavy preference for non violence, Heal (Force Power), and medicine. Can also pick up a bit of computers, astrogation, and mechanics.

Alrighty, I think I have found the start up for my character

Going with Selonian: Brawn 2, Agility 3, Intelligence 4, Cunning 1, Willpower 3, Presence 1
70xp Spent here
Career is Guardian Protector: Cool, Discipline, Vigilance, Medicine, Ranged Light

Morality is Love/Jealousy
10xp extra earned from here

Second Career Soresu Defender

All 90xp is spent.

Zeylud is his name, and yes he is not sterile. Managed to squeak out of the Colony all the same at the hands of a very passionate Force user holding a lightsaber at them as he ran away with a very healthy and breedable male. He has since becoming of proper age sent back communications to the colony trying to arrange time frames in which he will go back to breed as long as he is allowed to keep his freedom when the time frame is up. (Basically a week long period where he returns home every three to four months if he can help it)

Looking good so far. I'll have a full review once these are finalized.

Nebten- as far as Piloting, I plan on there being some encounters in space at certain points, but it will probably not be the focus of the campaign.

hope to finish tonight

Here is my guy. There are still things to decide on, his Motivation and his gear -cannot decide between a basic lightsaber hilt (300 credits, more flavorful and fitting backstory-wise but otherwise useless for now) and a light blaster pistol (300 credits, more useful and handy in a fight)- to be more specific, but otherwise these are his crunchy parts.

Edit: I think I will be going with the light blaster pistol. Seeing as how he has gone in hiding, he will have gotten rid of his lightsaber, hilt and crystal and all. Besides, it will give me a chance to have him collect the necessary components and make one himself if or when I get the chance. So, his gear should be complete. Thus, deciding which Motivation suits him best is all that remains crunch-wise. :-)

Shii-Cho Knight. That's what I'm going for

I did not notice that you were going Guardian F Castor. Would you like me to change my idea? I am not sure just how much our ideals would technically overlap. I would be picking up the bodyguard from the protector tree and that would be it. The Heal/Harm force power tree and then depending on how the game goes may push more into the Sores Defender tree if I feel like a lightsaber will be something to use.

Since you had the idea up before me, I can easily switch it up for one of the other flavors and perhaps go full into eight the doctor or medic tree (can't remember which I always felt was better. There is one with anatomy lessons that can really be good flavor wise for a non violent combatant.)

I do not really mind, mate. I am going for a guy who generally keeps a low profile and does not actively seek out any fighting, nor is he quick to start one. He will, however, rise to the defense of those who cannot defend themselves and help those who cannot help themselves. Thus, there will be a preference for all-around useful skills that would fit a capable and combat-ready guy, even though he will be pretty non-aggressive. No Medicine and no Heal/Harm Force power, instead going for the more basic ones (Enhance, Move, Sense, maybe Influence). As for lightsaber combat, he will be going for Niman Disciple and/or Ataru Striker if or when he is able to do so.

So, they will be pretty different, excluding the fact that they are both Guardians with the Protector spec. They could even know each other, I suppose. So, as far as I am concerned, play what you would prefer to play, at least as long as the GM has no problem with the number of Force-users and/or ex-Jedi in the group.

Question regarding LSs
How will that be handled? Those who use them? Will they be part of the gear or will they need to be acquired in game?
I know the upgrades and other crystals will become available later =^^=

Unless we want to do an all force user game, I will be a support role. Either a medic or mechanic. Maybe a blend.

Only here for a few minutes, but to answer your question Seth, if your character starts with a lightsaber, you have one. Though it has been 21 years since the Jedi Purge, yours could have been kept in hiding all this time or if you have just the parts, you have been keeping them in hidden locations until such a time that you are ready to build it. Once you have them, using them will be a choice you will have to make. Even though the galaxy is a big place. Lightsabers are rare enough that a sighting of one is quick to become a rumor that will eventually reach the wrong ears... That goes double for obvious Force power use...

Np. Thanks. Good to know. Not home tonight. So will try and set up character when im back home and at my pc

Alright so I am doing a bit of reconsidering on the character idea, I can do the idea without going into being an actual "Jedi" but it will just take a bit longer. I think this way he will be a bit more well rounded and fit the Non Violent/Medicine/Heal Force Power

I was thinking of doing a combination Obligation for the extra XP.
Oath 10 (5 xp earned), Responsibility 5 (5 xp earned here)

The Oath would be the Doctor's oath to do no harm/heal the injured and needy. The Responsibility would be to his Colony as a Non Sterile Male.

Special Abilities Selonians begin the game with one rank in Coordination. They still may not train Coordination above rank 2 during Character Creation. The structure of a Selonian's eyes allows them to see in near total darkness. They may remove all Black added to checks due to darkness, though they still cannot see in absolute darkness.
Tail: A selonian's tail may be used as a brawl weapon. When used to attack, it uses the brawl skill combined with the Agility characteristic, but like most brawl weapons, adds its weapon damage to the character's Brawn for total damage. It always counts as equipped and has the following weapon profile (Brawl; Damage +1; Critical 5; Ranged [Engaged]; Disorient 2, Knockdown). The Selonian may trigger knockdown with Advantage, but still must spend additional Advantage to know down targets with a higher silhouette as per the Knockdown quality rules.
--------------------
TALENTS
--------------------
Brace: As a maneuver, the character may Brace himself. This allows a character to remove black per rank of Brace from the next skill check based on changing conditions, inclement weather, unstable surfaces, zero gravity, heavy gravity, or other disruptive physical obstacles that would make a skill check more difficult.

Short term goals: Purchase Researcher 10xp, Purchase Well Rounded 15xp (Adding Brawl and Ranged Light as career skills)
Long Term goals: Increase Medicine and Brawl. Learn Pressure Point.Pick up Force Emergent as a Career, Pick up Heal, Get Force Rating two.

I won't pick up any ranks in Mechanics or Computers. Most likely won't pick up ranks in Astrogation as well.

Will we be a part of the Rebellion or is this more of a story taking place outside of ties to any one faction?

I have not used this system I was thinking using a pregen from the Rebellion box set. Any thoughts on this?

I would highly not recommend using a Pre-made. They do not remotely stack up to a character you make from scratch for the concept you would like to play.

1 they never boost a characteristic (It costs a lot and with few options xp or credit wise in the long run to upgrade a characteristic)
2 they tend to make poor choices with the available xp for a species to be good at their job in the long run. (They tend to go for more well-rounded as you don't know what other pre mades are gonna be chosen.)
3 they are purely designed with the pre-made adventure in mind and not for a long term campaign.

If you need help creating a character I am sure there are several of us who can go through it step by step with you. I generally have a lot of free time and would be willing for one.

If you want you can PM me about it, but there may be a small wait here and there as I'm about to do some errands.

I took me maybe 40 minutes to create a character for the first time once I actually got started.

This is the age of the Empire, bright futures are only for some humans, aliens need not apply.

Need help with character creation. Here is the general idea Cullen is looking to pay off a favor. His family rigged an election that went wrong now he makes his way trying to fix it. He uses his words and the information to do the right thing .

Hmm. It seems pretty sound. A brawn of one can definitely be a terrible idea so buying it up to two was sound judgement.

Presence at a 4 is really good. So long as you plan on being truthful and/or negotiation based. Got a decent stat in case you need to lie as well.

Some of your skills are not done right I don't think. You should show which ones you picked when you chose your career.

So specify which four you chose from Charm, Core Worlds, Deception, Education, Leadership, Lore, Negotiation, and Streetwise.
Also specify which two you chose from your Specialization out of Charm, Coercion, Core Worlds, and Deception.

Ones that I notice that currently mistakes...is most of the brawn based ones. Just go back over them with a fine tooth come.
Otherwise you seem to be pretty rocking and ready to go.

I believe currently you aren't really prepared for if combat happens. It seems like you will be mostly sitting out and trying to hide. Which if that is what you want no worries.

Also, a good idea is always to itemize all xp spendature so you and the gm know where every little purchase was done and there are no questions left unanswered.

I looks like some copy past issues from copying a template.

While I agree with Thrask that you don't have a lot you can do if combat comes up, not every class can be well prepared for combat from the start. The money alone limits what weapons you can start with. Do you think Kutishek is happy with a slugthrower rifle as his primary ranged weapon, of course not, but it is all he can afford now without owing someone for extra cash.

On the subject of owning a lightsaber, I am a bit confused. Of course, seeing as how I am making a Force-user who is an ex-Jedi Padawan and looks to grab one or two lightsaber specs along the way, I am all for owning and using a lightsaber, at least eventually. But by the rules, actually having one as starting gear seems impossible.

Starting characters begin with 500 credits to spend on gear. Even if they use their Obligation, Duty or Morality to gain extra credits, that means they add another 1000 or 2500 credits to their initial 500. A basic lightsaber costs over 9000 credits and has a rarity of 10 to boot (dmg 6, crit 3, breach 1, sunder). All a starting character can hope for with his starting money is either a basic lightsaber hilt (300 credits, but it is not weapon, it is a hilt without a lightsaber crystal) or a training lightsaber (400 credits, does stun damage only).

As far as I can tell, lightsabers from the start are reserved for Knight-level play. In this case, starting characters get an extra 150 XP to make a character with (these cannot be spent on Characteristics though) and also choose between either a basic lightsaber or 10000 starting credits.

Basically, I would be a little wary to start a character with a lightsaber even if it does make sense from his backstory (ex-Jedi and such), and I am actually making a character who is an ex-Jedi (so he did have a lightsaber) and who is looking to use one (as I positively love them).

But that is up to the GM to decide. Just my two cents and all.

I wont mind an extra 150 xp though =^^=

Background:
Karan is an odd Togruta in that he enjoys life on his own. Despite gaining fame amongst his tribe for being an expert hunter, he never found the sense of community that the rest of his people seemed to be born with. After a few years wrestling with the decision, Karan decided to purchase passage on a ship by selling some of his hardest won trophies.

It doesn't take long for a non-human in imperial space to realize how little his life is worth, so Karan started flying out to savage worlds, hunting dangerous beasts and selling their parts as trophies, all the while trying to ignore the stories of slavery and abuse that were often told in whispers at bars on the edge of the universe.
