Crystal D'glaese |

Crystal sings softly, her voice wafting into the darkness. When she finishes her song, a young muffled female voice pipes up.
"Who sings on the roof of my carriage?"
Crystal lays down, so as to bring herself closer to the inquisitive voice and proceeds to quietly introduce herself.
Diplomacy Check to make the right impression:1d20+7->[18,7]=(25)
WHispering softly with her unseen companion, Crystal eventually, politely stifling a yawn, does bid her new found conversationalist a good night and simply curls up under her blankets, using them more for comfort and padding than warmth against any of the nights chills. Her swords removed to lay upon the carriage roof, her armor like wise doft and folded to one side.
Perception Check to notice the impending Orc attack much later in the evening/wee hours of the morning.:1d20+2->[7,2]=(9)
And this is why Bards tend to be late to brawls but of course fashionably late for parties. :P

And this is why Bards tend to be late to brawls but of course fashionably late for parties. :P
The young voice identifies herself as Lady Arianna Mellifleur, daughter of Lord Marven Mellifleur, 6th Baron Chasegate of Garona. House Mellifleur is allying with a noble Garonan house based in Lumberton, House Tallifer. Lord Vladoman Tallifer, 4th Baron Lumberton holds the border sttlement east of the Darkridge Mountains in fief to the Garonan crown. Lady Arianna is to marry him.
I will post up some combat this afternoon folks hopefully. Those on guard will have an action on the round, the others will need the first round to awaken.

Crystal D'glaese |

Crystal's brow furrows as the noise of the approaching potential raiders fills the camp,
Will Save to awaken:1d20+2->[5,2]=(7)
She rolls over and pulls the blankets closer for a time before the reality drags her from her dreams. Once aware of the commotion she rises fluidly, siting and reaching out to don her chain mail armor.
Ref Save to kit up:Take Ten=14
And once attired, simply reaches out and draws both her rapiers, leaving their sheaths lying upon the wagon's roof as she stands to confront those that might do herself or her companions harm.
I do think it's that time when I be aimin' t' misbehave. ;)

Those on last watch have an action, then we do a normal round.
The orcs come running towards the campsite shreiking and hollering. Several arrows thunk into the wood of the wagons. A larger shadowy form is just visible past the first few raiders. The guards, drovers and anyone else who can raise a weapon scramble out of bed and prepare to meet the foe
For convenience sake I have just put up the ones you guys will be fighting. I also assumed for the most part you were all together at the start

Rootabega Flanus |

right place at the right time!
Face rapt with joy, Root taps into the raw power of the earth and allows the plants to vent their silent rage on the orcs.
or he casts 'entangle' DC 14 reflex. 40' radius spread failure imparts the 'entangled' condition. Root casts it on the intersection of the lines between q/r and 21/22. Should catch all of the orcs, and those that make their save may have to save again unless they exit the area.

Crystal D'glaese |

Crystal stands atop the wagon, knees slightly bent, ready to pounce upon any foe that may draw near.
I believe I get some sort of bonus for delaying and redying my actions? I am basically in the situation of having to wait until the enemy closes upon me, since I have no ranged weapons. The good thing, of course, is that I can see as well as they in the dark. ;)

![]() |

Merzhan quickly retrieves the wand stowed at his hip and casts Invisibility
Spell is higher than he can usually cast. UMD 1d20+9=29
WOW WHAT A PLACE FOR A NAT 20!

Nice spread! Got 14 of the 15 by my estimation..
Saves:
so 7 of 14 made it
A field of animate roots erupt from the stony ground, attempting to wrap themselves around the orcs feet. Judging from the cries, many of the humanoids are trapped.

Could you tell me what page that info is on in the core book? I'm still playing catch up :)

![]() |

I refer everyone who was sleeping to page 153 of the core rules and table 6-7 telling you how long it takes you to put on armour
Sondergang stands in his arming doublet no time to don his mail as the orcs barrel in towards the camp. Then as the grass rises to entangle them he calmly picks up his hauberk and dons it quickly(that takes 5 rounds)certain that the ready crew can deal with the lone orc who escaped the spell

Crystal D'glaese |

Takes Wellard's advice and reviews the donning of armor. And indeed thanks Wallard for the enlightenment. :)
Blinking away the sleep from her eyes Crystal realizes that her dreaming state does not match her reality. Bending, she lays her rapiers to one side as she hastily dons her Chain Shirt. Five rounds it is! SHuld I make n 'Acrobatics' check?
Round 1
While she does trust to her more martial companions to defend the caravan, the image of a lone woman struggling into clothes is not the one she'd really wish people to see her performing. She'd been hoping to impart a more impressive display of martial prowess.
As for the 'holding actions and receiving a bonus'? I actually have no idea, it may be something I've read and carried over from earlier rule sets? *^_^* Still, Crystal isn't 'Holding her actions' any more!
Note to self, obtain 'Sleeping in armor Feat'.

Divel Divellios |

"Good spell," murmurs Divel as the plant life springs up and at the orcs. he sights down the line of his green fletched arrow, noticing the smooth wood.
I hope Divel isn't in the area. But I did ask for him to be up a tree on the orc side of the caravan. Up to the boss but I doubt Divel is easy to spot up there.

The thing is, you are up a mountain pass where the foliage is kinda short and sparse. You can find some bushes to hide behind, say anywhere in the A-C quadrants

OK, I think this is everyone's actions posted so far. If I missed someone I apologize, sometimes I get lost in the action. Anyone still on the pending list gimmie an action, whether armoring up or running to action right away. Divel, gimmie a coordinate you want and I'll start you there.
The orcs howl as they try to move out of the grasping roots. The larger figure in back bellows and thumps the ground with a huge treelike club.

Crystal D'glaese |

Crystal's Round: 2
Wellard raises his voice..."An Ogre my Brothers..and sister..Shall we show it how dwarves can dance?"
Crystal hears the Dwarf's cry and with her head now wrapped in chain mail, mumbles something that could be interpreted as bad language.
Crystal is still atop the wagon.
Um, we are going into 'round' two? Potentially round three of the total fight, I'm assuming?

Root round 2
"Avoid the plants, friends. Here's some light to make compost by!"
Root waves his hands some more and produces a spot of light at the front of the horde zero level light spell at the top right of m19
With what might be mistaken for grim competence in another (any other), Root draws his elven blade and steps forward almost to the edge of the roiling roots.

Um, Crystal would like to clarify a minor point. Master Work Armour gives a bonus to Armor Check penalty. Would that, perhaps, include donning said Master Work armor? *Bats eyelids at Dungeon Monkey*
Awaiting the wondrous Dungeon Monkey's judgment and the beginning of Round Two. FIGHT! ^_^

Rolled some off screen rolls, the orcs are horribly clumsy
Divel pops up from his bushy hiding spot and scores a hit on one of the tangled orcs. need a few more rolls, Divel.
Only two orcs seem to be out of the mess I26/J25. They stand fast and switch out their swords for curved horn bows. The entangled ones make for the edges as best they can. Root's spell casts a bright light over the scene, eliciting further howls from the light-sensitive orcs. The large form bellows some more and a pair of bat wings suddenly emerge from its back. It flies over the entanglement, and its visage is revealed.
It looks like an ogre, but it's skin is red and scaly. It sports two impressive curling ram's horns on its head. It has a pair of large leathery wings it uses to fly slowly. It's eyes glow a firey red and it's feet are shaggy cloven goat hooves.
OK, post actions for rd two. The orcs are trying to escape, the two that are free are changing over to their ranged weapons. The ogre-thing is flying over the entangle spell.

*Squeeee!* *^_^*
*cough* Um, yes, yes very much fair and balanced and righteous oh Master Monkey of the game. *bows*
Crystal continues to quickly slink and wriggle into her armor. The silvery sheen of the mythril catching the light of the moon(s?) and also serving to highlight the curves of the figure sliding it over their head.
"I do hope we're not getting paid by the 'minute' for this." She mumbles to no one in particular. She wonders how the battle is unfolding, her sight blocked by the armor she is donning.
